    For the life of me I cannot fathom why they didn't bring out another 100G. It was literally the best racquet I have played with for some years. I switched to it after using a Head Pro Tour 630 and it just does everything so well. The have a couple of 100P's which are also great from the previous iteration alos so I wonder how different the new one is. Prince big underdog racquet brand. Great dirt baller frames...

      Aloha Aaron,
      It's nice to hear from a fellow 100G lover! I've played with it since it came out in 2020. However, 100Xs were selling more than 100Gs, so that's probably why. Prince is talking about an update to the Phantom line later. 🤞
      The 2024 100P is very similar to the 2020 version. The main difference is they removed the Twaron and used Zylon instead, which is supposed to enhance stability and optimize feel. 🤙

    Would you say these are the best Prince racquets to come out in years? A lot of positive feedback from a lot of reviewers. Unfortunately, most local shops in northern California do not carry Prince, and have to go through tennis warehouse which can have bad strings in their demos.

      Aloha,
      Of course, I'm a little biased since I've used the Phantom frames since they came out in 2017. Before then, I was playing with the O3 Tour. I like the slightly stiffer update to these frames.
      Yes, it's nice that these Phantoms are getting the love they deserve from other reviewers too!
      Other than Tennis Warehouse, I looked up some dealers in NorCal that carry Prince racquets.

    I'm sticking with the Phantom 100Gs for now because I still don't think I've fully explored the racket and the myriad of hybrid stringing combinations (not to mention, something about that cross bar just makes me happy)! Do you generally recommend Poly/Multi or Multi/Poly for the 100G?

    • @AMstringing
      @AMstringing  2 місяці тому +1

      Aloha,
      It's nice to hear from a fellow 100G user and cross-bar enthusiast! 😉 Honestly, I'm unsure how much it helps stabilize and influence the feel, but I like how it makes it look "old-school."
      Here's a video I did on Stringing Guidelines, which I think I'll update soon. It explains why I like the synthetic gut (or multi) on the mains and poly on the crosses. ua-cam.com/video/UboAT8ScZLs/v-deo.html
      I rarely recommend the opposite setup unless durability is the player's main concern. If this is the case, I'll usually go straight to a poly/poly setup with a thicker gauge in the mains compared to the crosses. 🤙

    • @newgoogleplussux2802
      @newgoogleplussux2802 2 місяці тому +1

      @@AMstringing Cross bar for life! Hopefully Prince comes out with an updated 100G with one.
      I just finished watching your other video - my current preferred setup is the Multi/Poly at 51/48 so the results of my months of fairly blind trial and error are tracking fairly well with your chart.
      I used to play Poly/SynGut in my rackets in high school back when I was chewing through strings - but now that I'm in my 30s, don't play 5-6x a week, don't hit as hard, and (most importantly) don't have to raid my parents' wallets every time I break a string, the multi/poly works better for me.
      I've consistently noticed in your videos that you're a big fan of the Prince Lightning Pro. I've played the Lightning XX back in the day, but didn't realize Prince had released a new version of it. I'll have to give it a try!

    • @AMstringing
      @AMstringing  2 місяці тому +1

      @@newgoogleplussux2802 Yes, that's a good catch! Lightning Pro is a little softer and has better spin potential than Lightning XX. It's my #1 overall synthetic string! If you end up ordering from Tennis Warehouse, please consider using my affiliate link in the video description section. 🤙

    • @AMstringing
      @AMstringing  2 місяці тому +1

      @@newgoogleplussux2802 In my opinion, Prince Premier Control is a good multifilament in a full bed. It has very similar playing characteristics to Lightning Pro.
      However, Lightning Pro has a crisper feel and does not fray like multifilament strings. Instead, it notches like a polyester string, so it allows it to snapback more effectively for more spin potential.
      Coincidently, I'm posting a video this week discussing Stringing Guidelines - Progression & Frequency.
      Unfortunately, Lightning Pro strings are not currently available in reels. If you decide to purchase them from Tennis Warehouse, please consider using my affiliate link. 🤙

    Hi, i might get a Gamma X2 stringing machine( two point mounting system and drop weight) found t for cheap and i don t really have the means to get a more expensive onee, it will be my fist machine,, i heard they might deform the frames or even they might be dangerous to use.., any true to that?, is it worth it getting it?, do you have a video on these budget machines or do you plan on making one?, thanks a lot!.

    • @AMstringing
      @AMstringing  3 місяці тому

      Aloha Martin,
      Unfortunately, I can't comment from first-hand experience since I haven't used this type of machine. Although Gamma manufactures decent machines, the X2 model is what it is, and it has limitations when producing consistent string jobs.
      From what I've learned watching videos, these machines (drop-weight with floating clamps) require more consistency from the stringer. Although the 2-point mounting system does hold the racquet in place, I would not trust its ability to support the head when stringing in the high-50s and above.
      There's also the risk of a novice stringer over-tensioning the string if the weight goes past the parallel position. In other words, in my opinion, this machine does allow for a lot of room for error. 🤙

    • @martinrosemary5654
      @martinrosemary5654 3 місяці тому +1

      @@AMstringing Always so detailed answers.., thank you so much for that!
      Would it be ok to ask for your opinion just once more?
      Just to clarify , i am not so much worried about consistent tension and all the trouble that comes whit a less sophisticated machine , i think that whit practice i can learn to deal whit that, but as i said before i do worry about two main things and wonder if you could clarify something's about that:
      One , that being supported only by two points it may damage the frame or deform the raquets ( is that what you mean by " i would not trust its ability to support the head when stringing in the high 50s" ? )
      And two, that it may actually be dangerous to use(some people talk about flying pieces.. )
      I am unemployed and buying a more expensive machine is out of the question so this may be my only option
      however if you tell me any of these two concerns may be true i would rather avoid getting it altogether and stay whit my local stringer.
      Thank you so much!

    • @AMstringing
      @AMstringing  3 місяці тому +1

      @@martinrosemary5654 Since the machine is made by Gamma, I guess it must be decent.
      #1 - As a precaution, I mentioned the high 50s. However, it's crucial to remember that if you stay under 60 when stringing, you should be on the safe side. However, if you're stringing for yourself, then there's no need to worry (as much).
      #2 - I haven't heard of the floating (flying) clamps being dangerous; they are just not as secure in holding tension.
      With proper practice of good techniques, eventually, the goal is to produce consistency. I'm not planning on creating a video using this type of machine, but if I come across one, who knows! 🤙

      Been using the x-2 for 15 years. Always been stringing below 55lbs. Some rackets have deformed while stringing slightly but never had one crack. Definitely recommended metal clamps as supplied diamond counted clamps do rough up poly strings.
