@@Alpha1918 I mean not really, its only going to fall short of the game if you're constantly comparing it to the game. Comparing adaptations is common but if you continue to keep doing it you're only going to start seeing the negatives about the show instead of things you think the show did good but still prefer how it was done in the game, vice versa.

@@Laikalister there’s many things I liked about the show, such as the pun scene they added, Joel doing the “only you” jokes, and when Ellie holds his hand while he’s injured.
BUT, all the critical scenes they changed harmed it.
You can’t observe an adaptation in a new light, because it’s an adaptation. The story has already been told, so it’s always going to be relative. And while some adaptations have improved the source material, this one didn’t. Most of the changes I did not agree with.

People who criticize the fact that the bandits didn't immediately rush Joel and Ellie, despite the fact that all of their behaviors indicate that they lack actual combat experience outside ambushing people caught lacking, gotta realize that it's easier to talk about running towards gunfire and ACTUALLY have to gall to do it. Joel not only survived for 20 years in the apocalypse, he himself was an actual bandit and experienced smuggler who ventured outside the city and was still breathing. These kids barely got their hands on guns after a coup against a FEDRA set up. No way would they have the gut to just rush a guy with a gun, even when they have him surrounded, so they just have to play it safe and wait for others to hear the shots. 2 laid down suppressive fire, 1 circled around to ambush him. Keep in mind, by the time Joel got the first guy, he'd already fired 5 shots, which is the standard hunting rifle capacity. Had the kid not hesitated to check up on his friend, Joel wouldn't have the time to reload. The last kid got lucky since he jumped Joel when his rifle is malfunctioning.

If they had Bill's weapons they'd easily outgun bandits like this and this situation could have been over in seconds. Then just dump the guns you cant use. Or exchange them for goods if the chance arose. Bad move.

      just dumb movie plot man.
Joel in the movie series could just take an AR-15 load with good optic and couple 30 rounds mag, check carefully before bring it with him and that gun would have last him for all the trip.

It was more of a stupid point of media anti-AR Propaganda that has been in a lot of media in the last 10 years. When "THE STAND" was remade Stu- the guy who escapes the laboratory- he could have taken his pick of AR's but he takes a 5rd max bolt gun, whereas in original Stu grabs an AR and doesn't let the door hit his butt on the way out. TLOU:HBO was pure anti-AR propaganda that the soldier in E01 kills Joel's daughter with an AR and Joel sees the AR as "No bueno". But it doesn't bother him to swipe a Ruger 556 and go to town on the last of the fireflies about to pop the lid on Ellie's cranium. TLOU:HBO had Pedro Pascal and Mormont Girl so it was going to do well, regardless of whether it was really that good or not. The Bill episode was all I enjoyed and if it had been 100% Bill and Frank I could not have been more overjoyed as I felt it was the only episode to tell a story to any degree of fruition.

I see too many comments acting like these guys were raiders or bandits. They’re actually just normal survivors in the show. They’re all on the lookout for Henry and other Fedra collaborators and survivors in Kansas City. That’s why they shoot on sight, they’re not common bandits or inherently evil people. They’re just survivors. That’s not to say they didn’t need to die or anything, but they’re definitely not irredeemably evil bandits who don’t deserve sympathy. They’re human beings who were dealt a crappy hand looking for some justice against the Fedra soldiers who wronged them. It’s quite tragic actually. They were sitting out there waiting to dish out some justice against Fedra, and now they’re dead. Once again, not without good reason, but still sad nonetheless.

@@tunasandwich8049 I honestly disagree, the presentation throughout episodes one to nine were pretty spot on, especially episode two with the overgrown areas and abandoned vehicles everywhere and even prior to this shootout, the roadtrip showing the different locations they went through such as the abandoned tanks and overgrown rollercoaster rides convey a decaying world almost perfectly imo. The rebels also were fine for me but to each and thier own.

@@someguy8951 the bandits really do feel ai especially in this shootout
In game they didn't take any chances and rushed them when the car crashed but for some reason they conveniently gave them enough space and time to get out of the car and grab their guns in this scene
Also environment was a poor choice of word I picked because I agree that the presentation was amazing and I give props to the prop master and all the stage designers and effects people
When I meant environment I mean like the "vibe of how people act"
It took me out of my immersion of the series
Then again as you said, to each their own, I played the game on release date so I already had my expectations as to how the show would feel

HBO's The Last of Us. Basically, it takes place in an apocalyptic 2023 where Cordyceps, a fungus, has caused a pandemic where billions of people are being controlled by the fungus. It's based on a really good video game, and the show is actually a really good adaptation of the game.

@@someguy8951 I agree. I personally like both the show and the game. I feel like the show is a good adaptation of the game, but also made it better. There are only like 2 or 3 things I dislike that they removed from the show, but they're not important, and I still enjoy the show regardless. For instance, one thing I dislike is that they removed Joel's line "He ain't even hurt" from the show, but I really like how they expanded upon Bill and Frank's story and even gave them a happy ending.

    • @someguy8951
      @someguy8951 25 днів тому

@@jonnyb.animationstutorials7119 Yeah I thought it was honestly a great adaptation overall. My only major gripes with it were the lack of zombies in some episodes, I get that it realistically makes sense because of the 20 year time jump meaning that they would be more spread out and large amounts of them would've been killed in that time but compared to the game at least, some more on screen would've been interesting to see. Another gripe I have is that the last episode felt rushed in a sense and stakes felt lower, in the game Ellie and Joel fought through a tunnel full of infected and then Ellie gets knocked out by a tsunami of water which led into the hospital scene, in the show they just get smoke bombed and knocked out within seconds which felt pretty anticlimatic. One minor gripe I had was with the "it wasn't time time that did it" scene. It was a good scene that added depth to Joel's character with how he coped after Sarah's death, but the final line honestly felt a bit too on the nose because we already saw that they were getting closer throughout the course of the show, I don't think it was really necessary to specifically outline that it was Ellie that healed his wounds, not time.
