This guy is a lot like me. Retired military. I can understand where he's coming from. The biggest takeaway I'm getting from this is the difference between life in the Province versus life in Manila. He's a bit older than me, but his point about living comfortably resonates with me.

The thing is, if you have money, life in the Philippines is soooo much easier than anywhere else in the world. Except for the traffic of course that sucks. People are very chill and adapts well.
Filipino people in general love making others feel welcome. Specially guests. That's the culture. We adjust so they would be comfortable. In other countries, they don't really care. I mean, they're nice but lol Filipinos go out of their way to make their guests feel comfortable no matter how unpractical or uncomfortable they get. Heck, we used to offer our rooms to strangers and the fam would sleep together in one room lol. That's the way we're wired. Too bad when we go to other countries, the treatment is very different. It's sad sa totoo lang. Pero ganon tayo e. Nahahappy tayo and feeling validated kapag umuwing masaya yung bisita. 🤣🥲

You can see his joy and blissful satisfaction and peace being here. Life in Philippines is very easy, it's relaxed and laid back and people are kind, helpful and speak English. They are always smiling and happy. There are numerous affordable beach areas to live in. Pension goes a long way. The only down side is, hospitals are not as great and if you've got health concerns that need expert care, you need to be living in the main cities like Manila.

My friend was stationed in Subic back in the day, he moved to the Philippines probably 7 years ago and he got his 100% disability which is well over 3K a month. A corporate CEO average salary is around ₱400,000 for reference. That dude is rich based on PH standards. That’s why he owns 2 houses. Plus his restaurant gives him extra monthly income. Dan, Very information (and fun) video. I am a service-connected disabled veteran (spinal injuries). I am married to a Filipino and we are planning to move to the Philippines in the next 4 years. Ray talked very briefly about the VA hospital and veteran care. Is there any chance that you could do another interview with Ray to talk more about veterans living in the Philippines... particularly around healthcare, which is a concern for all of us as we get older. I heard from another vlogger recently that he heard Veterans care isn't good. I'm hearing something very different. Perhaps is having service-connected disabilities that is the difference. How about a part 2 interview video with Ray?

a lot of vets came back to Subic Bay and retired because it's the biggest American military base outside the US since colonial time till the early 90s when Philippine Senate ousted them. Subic Bay was home or has been to probably millions of American soldiers. A lot of them have said when they were stationed there that it was more of paradise than a military base - sun, sea, beaches and beautiful girls...good life. that's why the highest concentration of vets are living there rather than in big cities like here in Metro Manila.
