I am slowly inching my way toward paint correction, as I am nervous about causing more damage than what I am correcting. Having said that, how do you know that you still have clear coat remaining or how much is remaining? At what point do you determine that the scratch or gauge cannot be corrected without body work? Do you apply anything after the compound, like a wax or sealant? What about products like HD Speed? Would it be ok to apply a one step product after the correction? Equipment. I have a Dewalt rotary adn a porter cable DA. I prefer the rotary but I see many of you guys on youtube using the DA. At what point do you determine to use one over the other? From what I can tell, the argument for the rotary is that it is faster, more effective, but also is more likely to burn the paint. The DA seems to be the go to because it is SAFE, but it requires more product and passes and time. Sanding discs.........do they sell them is a variety pack of grits? All I could find is a box of one grit and they're pretty pricey....
The discs are pricey... but they last and can be used by hand or on a machine. The rotary is powerful.. but the DA is safe an better if you are learning to correct. I practiced on quite a few fenders and hoods from a local body shop before my first customer. After correction, protect with a quality wax or sealant.
Great video Brian, I was removing a pad off of my Torq backing plate like you are using here and it riped like tissue paper, heavy sigh! BTW ,I was able to clean my wet sanding debacle on my truck!:)
I scrolled through your videos and wanted your input on something Brian. I’m going to make another investment for some 5.5” pads to go along with my recently purchased 15mm polisher. My current selection is 1”-2”-3”-4”-6.5” pads so I’m missing that one size. Since i will be buying an entire lineup of different cutting/polishing pads it will be quite expensive (nothing crazy but not cheap). A local detailer uses and loves the Lake Country CCS pads. Any input on those? With my wholesale account i can get them for around $4.70 a piece which is a killer deal. The buff and shine low-pro pads are $7.50 a piece for me. Any input is appreciated. Thanks
Hi Brian. Thanks for the helpful videos. I was wondering if you have replaced microfiber cutting pads with the Buff and Shine Euro foam cutting pads? Is there a reason why I would purchase a microfiber pad vs the Euro pad for use with a cutting compound like Angel Wax Resurrection or Meguiars M105 or D300?
Brian, being a novice the links you provide to companies like ADS do me no good as they do not want any calls to ask questions it would seem. So I will continue to do business with companies that are willing to take the time to talk with guys like me who are just starting out. Absolutely no reflection on you...just wanted to mention it.
Wow, talk about anazing results. I'm still a little scared of sanding (at least on our "good car") but the improvement you made to that scratch is unreal. Seeing the dull surface after sanding I never would have thought the end result would be that perfect. Wow!
I just got a bunch of these pads, thanks for the great video about them (part of the reason I got them!) How much more cut do the yellow Euro pads have? I got a few of each yellow and orange, and some white ones for polish. Will be using the Meguiars Ultimate Compound & Polish with them. Just not sure if I should use the yellow pads! Thanks!
I work in a production shop this will take forever
Great vid...well explained and no yapping on with crap
I wish I could apprentice under you....Brian you sir are a magician!!

I am one to let the pad to the work for the most part, and these buff and shine pads look good.
Great value for the 💰💰

Greg... keep practicing and you will be a master !!! Good to hear!
If your doing a 2 stage correction would you use angel wax heavy cut then angel wax finishing polish or the medium cut and finishing polish?
Resurrection..then follow up with Redemption...or even Perfect polish.
Brilliant m8 👏👏👏🎩🎩🎩
