JOBS FOR THE BOYS! MIDEON! WORST OF THE ATTITUDE ERA? WATCH & DECIDE!

- It's Ring Of The Hawk Season 3 and it's time for Mideon. This all started with The Undertaker and The Ministry of Darkness in the WWF. They kidnapped Dennis Knight and turned him into Mideon. After watching this full run i'm convinced he was the worst wrestler of the attitude era who wrestled reguarly on pay per view but never had a good match. It was always a complete snooze fest. He did have a cool character though!

Mideon was a good creepy fit for The Ministry of Darkness. But watch this video through and tell me what he actually did that you liked!
Big Bossman was also awful during this period
HEY MARKY CAN YOU DO A VIDEO ON VAN HAMMER'S ENTIRE WCW CAREER PLEASE.
It’s fairly forgotten at this point, but his stint as Triple H’s Bogus Mick Foley was pretty damn entertaining, especially when Foley snapped and abducted him.
Also telling that the only thing I can honestly remember of his entire career was impersonating a much more famous wrestler.
God this guy was awlful, he should really be living in a Turdtown
BossMan was brilliant at this point, say what you will about the material but his return was a home run as McMahon's henchman. Yeah Mideon was the drizzling sh*ts everybody back then agreed, without the Ministry he was like the extreme version of X-Pac, his gimmick was he was still in the ministry even though it was old hat.
Undertaker saying didn't care about Mideon was the highlight of his career
Lmao brutal
Hahah that was pretty funny.
Turns out they’re literally best friends 💀
Mideon was a member of BSK. That will give you a bit of job security.
Fun fact he saved gangrels life after the first match. When they hung him with the rope he started actually getting choked was almost out mideon noticed lifted him up enough to keep him from dieing.
According to Mideon himself, Vince let him set out the last year of his contract and get paid to do nothing. They had nothing for him he was apparently very well liked within the company and backstage.
Also, holy shit, I had no idea he had a giant eye ball tattooed on the back of his head.
yeah good friends with the people, just not a good wrestler which is a shame.
His tattoos are cool yes.
Illuminati Confirmed
@@wintertarzanjagrup2527insert the x-files theme
I always thought of Mideon as a mindless zombie of the Ministry, just a body with no brain. That was pretty much how he was introduced. It's crazy how many matches he got, especially pay per view matches.
Mideon was a cool jobber. He was the Brooklyn brawler of the attitude era.
Favorite memories of teenage fandom: attending Axxess before Wrestlemania and spotting Mideon wandering toward the backstage area with a bunch of fans trying to get pictures and utterly ignoring them.
He’s about to step through a door when someone just screams:
“DUDE, WHO THE F*** DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?! YOU THINK ANY OF US ARE HAPPY HAVING TO ASK FOR *YOUR* AUTOGRAPH?!”
To his credit, he didn’t even pause, but I feel like it summarized his entire career in one frenzied question.
People aren't entitled to autographs.
This is funny 😂
If they're not happy asking for his autograph, why are they doing it?
@@paulheap1982good point homes! Got him! Got him!
Genuinely one of the most confusing wrestlers ever, He must have made someone backstage mad the way they buried him
Drugs
@Jay Tee You nailed it. Couldn't wrestle, couldn't talk, yet was "buried."
Mideon is underrated. He's a good character and was a decent tag wrestler. Much better than Viscera.
@@marcohavokkhaos I don't understand. I seen the clips from southern justice and i seen this video. He looks so clumsy in the ring.
@@marcohavokkhaos Christ if MIDEON is sO uNdErRaTed then fucking everyone is underrated.
Mideon was an incredibly solid hand. He was pretty good at his job. Some people think he got buried but I don't think so. Keep in mind the company didn't necessarily mishandled him. He was a two-time tag team champion, when Mark Canterbury was forced into retirement, which was during the Attitude Era. They gave Mideon this role, so he didn't have to be fired. His style wouldn't have fit into the attitude era otherwise
yeah. nothing wrong with being a utility guy. he did alright
There can be only so many champions. Someone has to get beat down.
Lol they definitely didn't mishandle him. If anything he got extremely lucky. They repackaged him multiple times because he was Takers buddy and the guy was an atrocious worker that was never over in any shape or form.
Completely correct. Also, from what I read years back, guys loved to wrestle Mideon because he sold well and didn't hurt anyone. An easy day at the office. When the top guys are happy to work their throw away matches against you, you get to work for a long time.
@@LumpyAdams respect, I don't think I would call him atrocious worker. He just worked a very particular style, closer to what would be preferred in the 80s. The problem was as he was around during the new generation which was heavily technical, as well as having occupational gimmicks. Then he was in The Attitude Era both of which were not necessarily for his style
Mideon always seemed like a backyard wrestler who accidentally wandered onto television. It certainly made me and my backyard indy fed fellows believe we had a chance at the big time since some of us were definitely better
I love that classic attitude era photo where no one wants to stand anywhere near sable lol
I think the point of Mideon was that he was the Ministry's punching bag. Taker was the leader, Paul Bearer was the manager, the Acolytes were the enforcers, Viscera was back-up enforcer, and then there was Mideon. His sole purpose in the group was to get beat up. The Brood were a weird fit though, I always liked The Brood more as opponents of the Ministry.
Mideon was the bate 😂
I mean it's only natural to have vampires hang out with a bunch of goths
Not even gonna lie - I found the Naked Mideon gimmick very funny. I especially liked how civil he appeared in backstage segments, the contrast was just hilarious!
Ditto
15:47 that move, as all the other finishers used by Mideon at the time, which were a neckbreacker and a reverse DDT were called the Eye Opener I think
Yeah, I was going to mention that too. According to one of the N64 WWF games (WM2000 or No Mercy, can’t remember which one) his finisher was a Canadian backbreaker called the Eye Opener, but I don’t recall him ever using it on TV.
@@eriklarson7023 having watched a shit ton of WWF's "C" shows at the time, it was definitely the "Slop Drop" Inverted DDT and the Hangman's neckbreaker that was called the "Eye Opener" by commentary during his rare wins.
@@VladamireD Hmmm, interesting. Funny thing is, it actually makes sense, because I don’t think the games had a hangman’s neckbreaker so I guess they gave him something somewhat similar and called it the Eye Opener. Not sure why they wouldn’t just use the inverted DDT/Scorpion Death Drop/Slop Drop though, since I think that was in the game.
The final match is probably more of a testament to the fact that you could put anyone in the ring across from Regal and they'd be cheered because Regal was just that good of a heel.
Godfather was also one of Taker's buddies, the Bone crew or whatever, which probably explains that whole feud (and VIscera was very much not, and a lot of dudes didn't want to work with him so being relegated to only minimal interference spots)
Yeah Viscera was not considered safe.
I have a picture of Viscera, Godfather, Faarooq and Rikishi at some titty bar on my old hard drive. He was definitely friends with the BSK guys.
Lol man what a Regal mark
Allegedly Taker recruited Viscera solely to never have to work against him again after he broke Taker’s face
If I had to pick the worst wrestler from the attitude era, that would easily be Tiger Ali Singh. He was pushed so many times during that era and never had a good match or memorable character.
I would agree tiger curry sucked. Mideon was alright he was a team player
Here is a suggestion for someone who would do well on Ring of the Hawk, Frankie Kazarian as Suicide in TNA, as on Cagematch it said he had 26 matches under that gimmick so it could hopefully make for a B or higher
I thought TJ Perkins was suicide?
@@maxtracker2904 Suicide was portrayed by multiple wrestlers
I literally only remember mideon from the game WWF WrestleMania 2000
You can also create him in Smackdown 1.
@@xavier76thman Who TF would create him, let alone play him?
He's playable in Smackdown 2 😂
He WAS a tag team champion as part of the Godwinns before becoming Mideon after his partner was injured and retired.
Mideon was cursed with bad gimmick after bad gimmick and bad booking all his career
I loved/miss the European Championship. They did that belt dirty lol.
Was beaten up by Vince McMahon in an angle. That was the first time I saw a wrestler get beaten up by a normal person.
Vince is a normal person?
Mideon got paid, to do the job. Not everyone can be a top star or even mid carder. I would have liked to see Viscera and Mideon, become tag team champs.
I remember having tears of laughter when nkd mideon appeared.
Awh poor dude, I ALWAYS forget Mideon was part of the ministry. But it gave the faction more layers and characters for them to play with so I like the fact he was in it
I hope the Hawk does Keith Lee in WWE's main roster one day. definitely one of the biggest missed opportunities and sharpest 180s in terms of booking, the dude went from pursuing the WWE title on his first month to getting absolutely destroyed with 0 offense against Bobby Lashley
That’s because lee was and is genuine ass
Monkeith is kinda mid, anyway. He was overpushed in NXT.
Haa! 1:04
I like how this clip was broadcast Evil instead of Live
😄👍
I always used to think of Mideon as a mini Taker, thought they looked a like with the tattoos and all, was only a kid, he never seemed to do much, probably only really known for saving Gangrels life, oh and The Godwinns of course.
I liked his weirdness with the eye in a jar and that he stayed with the same partner after the M.O.D ended. I'm a little shocked that he only had a few single matches and never got a pinfall in this run, even tho I think during this time he was involved in hardcore matches and won for at least a "cup of tea".
Mideon definitely took some stiff chair shots from austin and the rock though. Woof.
One thing I never know about about the wrestling industry especially at this time. Are wrestlers held back or are they just awful. Honestly when I watch Mideon, I sigh. He's absolutely awful. Not a single move to his identity. It's really hard to judge for me what makes him so awful. Contrast to him the Boss man - who felt like a wrestler who could wrestle - he was fed a shit sandwhich time and time again with no hype promotions of his matches, terrible story lines, under utilised etc.
Mideon/Dennis Knight looks like a guy who has no idea how to put on a good match, offers no creative output and just turns up to get beat. I know not everyone is a star but jesus christ he was awful, painful even. Gangrel when he turned up had a few moves that made him stand out, the impaler is just a DDT but his execution made it unique. The only thing unique about Mideon is how goddamn awful he was to watch.
Still having said all that, you do need people to be the contrast of greatness, but it always frustrated me how he got onto shows but others like D'Lo, Mark Henry (often injured tbf) Crash Holly, Gangrel, hell Taka Michinoku, the list is infinite, didn't get onto the show but he did @.@ - Though some commenters are saying he was well liked so maybe that's the reason. A yes man that doesn't mind turning up to get beat.
Great comment and analysis! Mideon, Viscera and Boss Man are my favourite wrestlers and it was always disappointing to see how little the crowd cared for them. Sure, they weren’t flashy, athletic guys but they had absolutely bad ass looks and gimmicks that they fully embraced - they were great workers and I would have loved to have seen what stories could have been weaved (same for a lot of the mid card superstars). But if ‘boring’ chants are breaking out, I can see why WWF didn’t do anything with them. The Attitude Era was (to me) more about the spectacle rather than just ring technicality and they definitely added to the variety of the show! 👍
@@horrorhands666 For sure, Viscera was great. Looked like a total baddass, such a shame we barely heard him on the mic. Late on into his stint late 1999 we hear him shoot on the mic to Godfather, man had the voice to match his badass look. WIsh they would have found more for him with some of the belts they didn't use. He had potential to mix it up with a lot of different guys. Always thought it would be hilarious to see him as a rogue entry into a light heavyweight battle royal. Watching everyone on the roster try and get him out the ring would be hilarious!
Naked Mideon was massive over
Such a bi-polar run in the WWF. Despite booking him against the top names in huge spots, he got humiliated in all of them
Naked Mideon was an inside joke that was gifted to the fans, lol.
Cool vid Marky, just learned about Mideon from this vid. It's really good when you make a vid about the past like with K-Kwik and Ric Flair. There's a potential contender that could win this season of The Ring of The Hawk. It's the Prince, Finn Balòr. His NXT run from October of 2019 all the way to 2021 was phenomenal and I'd like to see you judge whether he'd be a good fit for Ring of the Hawk. It'd be highly appreciated if you made a vid about it for what it's worth. His run was meant for him to turn from the good smiley guy who'd let others take his spot into the Prince, a gimmick that got him extremely over in New Japan, which would help him find that It factor he was missing and take back what was once his. He was a beast during this run and he had a bunch of excellent matches. Do consider this suggestion lad. Keep up the good work!
Do a video on Viscera's goth run.
I can't agree any less with your take on Mideon. Many get thrown into jobber roles because they are safe workers, reliable, and make others look good. He's far from a bad wrestler.
"YOU SHUT THE HELL UP"
"ASK HIM MIKE"
"SHUT THE HELL UP"
Pretty much the only notable thing from that Fully Loaded match where the crowd was dead.
Also you probably noticed but for the first few months under the gimmick, he was spelled "Midian" which was weird.
As for the matches with Viscera against Rock, Mankind & HHH, Undertaker had a groin injury during this period, that and a later pec injury was what took him out from then until May 2000.
As for that Naked Mideon gimmick, the first time he did that was on a Heat episode during a Steve Blackman match. It was pretty funny with the timing since Blackman was about to get serious before he showed up.
"Midian" is from the bible, they probably wanted to use it but wanted to distance it from the biblical source (especially after the whole Undertaker crucifixion thing caused heat): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midian
@@VladamireD Ah, that would make sense considering they considered or did use other names for people in later years that they didn't do proper research on.
I remember wanting his shirt back then. Even still want to this day. It was such a cool design.
The first time I ever heard a "Boring" chant in wrestling was a Mideon vs. Big Boss Man match.
I'd like to see a stable with Mideon, Matt Sydal and Brian Kendrick, called The Third Eye Openers.
My favorite gimmick of his, even over Fideous, was Naked Mideon. Him and Spanky could have been running around together 😂
You once did every WWE Mick Foley match after his initial retirement. If you're looking for women for ROH you can the same thing with Beth Pheonix, Trish Stratus and Lita
All of them had way more than 30 matches in the main shows
@@konepe1653 if you read the comment correctly I said after their initial retirement. I counted the other day and Trish has the most matches and it's only like 12 matches. Please read the comment properly before taking a fit.
@@jeffreymarksworld534 Oh, I apologize, I misread as before initial retirement, my bad
My nomination for a Ring of the Hawk episode. Barry Darsow's run as wrestling golfer Stewart Pain in WCW.
Midion was perfect for the ministry of darkness. I'll never forget the sacrificial ceremony the Undertaker had which transformed him into Midion. The ministry of darkness didn't last that long. It should have lasted a lot longer than what it did and when it was over Medion character just didn't work. I mean they started having him flashing and being almost bare-ass naked with a fanny pack on that was just stupid and sick.
Wooou another chance to ask for Ludvig Borga WWF run :D
My god this run was terrible. Though his character was good. I think if booked right he could be good. The problem was he was always there to take the fall when the ministry need to lose.
Oh shut up millennial
I never seen, The Eye Opener. I always thought it was just a second rope forearm to the face. Lol
I can't believe you finally did Naked Mideon.... Next up Kwee Wee, La Parka, El Dandy, Alex Wright, Head Cheese
El Dandy should get an A
@@MrLawyer711 I fear that the Hawk may doubt El Dandy, but if he does watch him he'll see that he's a serious professional and a jam-up guy.
"who are you to doubt el dandy?"

Dennis Knight wrestled New Jack is a kick ass hardcore match in Florida in 2005 for a company called
Maximum Xtreme Pro Wrestling.
He appeared in the Viva La Bam season 2 episode "Treetop Casino" during the free for all in the ring, Pennsylvania indie wrestlers Leatherface & Executioner also were in it.
Mideon and Mick Foley looks like brothes the more I look at them
He reminds me of Terry Funk
Dennis Knight made a mean Foley imitation (the "Have a Bad Day" segments on the onset of the McMahon-Helmsley regime have him under a fake Mankind mask).
@@NcWcN1 Also part of the Cactus Jack return
Hey Marky whenever you review wrestling or wrestlers from this particular part of the Attitude Era, you should edit the background music to the N64 Wrestlemania 2000 edit your superstar music, because it would go perfect for these reviews lol 😂.
Every time you or Wrestling Bios reviews Wrestling from the Attitude Era, I always have that N64 Wrestlemania 2000 music in my head lol.
Particularly the edit your superstar music.
Foley missed with the second basketball 🏀
Naked Mideon may be right next to Beaver Cleavage as the worst Attitude Era gimmick. At least BC went away quickly!
Outside of the invasion angle which I'm still weirdly obsessed with (was 10 when it happened and I thought t was real) the ministry Vs corporation was such an awesome concept, I felt like they really got this faction war right, good characters etc it all just seemed to make sense but maybe it was just too cartoony and unreal for a lot of people?
We need a video of Meat (Shawn Stasiak) in WWE
I'd only see him on Shotgun Saturday or Heat.
Acknowledge that the Alberto el patron video was my patron request, please I paid $15 for that
How old are you? Grow up will you

Damn i love these videos! 19:55 I almost spit my water hahahah
Mideon sure was a bad wrestler, but he was good selling the moves
Then he wasn't a bad wrestler
@@richspeck8932 Yes he was, no moveset
Better selling than wrestling
@@Jajanken98 If you're good at doing the thing you're supposed to do, you're not a bad wrestler. He was a jobber, and if your job is to lose and you're good at selling, then you're a good wrestler in my book.
He was Phineas Godwin before southern justice, everyone knew him
I liked Mideon's face paint.
Technically, Show did have 3 partners, but he took them all out lol I remember Taka and Funaki, being on his team.
The third was Blue Meanie if I remember.
Mideon is the king of No Mercy.
that chair shot on cactus was brutal
As with a lot of the Attitude Era, Mideon's character work was the highlight. As his name alludes, he was the minion of Taker and was basically the fall guy. I still look fondly back at his time in the Ministry though and that was probably the highlight of his career imo. They just should have kept him in....tag matches because yeah, his in-ring work wasn't great.
Yall remember he used to run around with a thong on lmao 🤣😜
Naked Mideon was an awkward phase in wresting.
the only good thing about this is just showing how underrated Vicera was at that time. For a big wrestler, he had some legit skill in the ring when he gets a chance to shine.
No way. We can't bring him in full time. Maybe a one-time segment where the Hawkster drops the leg on a naked man would bring a bit of levity to this promotion, but not full time. Keep Mideon away.
Brings back good memories watching Viscera squash his flab. I didn't mind mind the occasional Mideon squash either. Solid jab to the jaw
wait, I thought Mideon was a Al Snow before he become Al Snow
That "Clothsline from hell" always looked so damn brutal. Amazing anyone got up after one of those.
And still better than 90% of wrestlers currently 😂
Imagine training for years and having the look only to be treated like a joke
mideon was awesome ... until he became naked mideon.
his finisher was the eye opener 🙃
New mic settings or something? This video sounds crisp!
I remember Mideon but I really couldn't think of anything he did 😅
You make these runs good Marky
Gotta do the job . I liked mideon and remember picking him in one of the wwf games I used to play back in the day
You should do Jeremiah Crane from Lucha Underground
Sami’s Lucha Underground run was awesome. Especially that DDT with the skewers, epic
Godfather and taker are good friends behind scenes
I remember hearing Mick Foley say that the chair shot from Mideon in that handicap match was one of the hardest he’s ever been hit with. If anyone hasn’t seen that match, the sound of that chair shot is hideous.
Naked Mideon was when I couldn't take him seriously anymore, Like when he was Mideon in the Ministry I could have taken him seriously because of the good character work. but Naked Mideon just killed the Mideon character for me.
5:47 What?🤣
*Pause...😆😆
@@mistermann3225 For real 😂
This guy lived on Jakked/Metal/Superstars. Every time I watched one of those shows, I’d see this guy.
Mideon and Viscera are in my OSW boy stable
Can you do Jershow in wwe?
No
I was never a fan of Mideon but he was ok. Surprised he had a couple of wins. Still head and shoulders better than Booger lol
Slamming Bossman's hands on the steps was entertaining.
I think in 1999, it should be a 1997 Gang Warz, but in the main event levels, from one side you got The Corporation with McMahon family as leaders, from the other side (ba dum ts) you got Ministry Of Darkness, with The Undertaker as leader, then you have Stone Cold Steve Austin, the face of the company, the man who is forced to choose a side, both of them have a dislikable leader, and he doesn't want to have anything in common. So he tries to destroy both of them, little did he know, that he would create another gang called The Union, the reformed DX and the actual Union in real WWE. And the lines between gangs would blur so much, that we would see a turncoat every RAW and SmackDown, like Triple H from DX and friend of Austin to Corporate Champion instead of the actual Corporate Champion The Rock, who would reform the Nation Of Domination as the forth gang, but not for the reasons the original Nation stood for
What a Midiot. 😂
His main highlight more than anything was a scene where the Acolytes were standing there outside a smoky dungeon as Dennis was screaming in torment. Dude wasn't even in screen.
Top 3 B/C/D Show Mideon Matches:
Wrestled Vince McMahon in a Street Fight on Heat before Over the Edge 99 (yikes)
Wrestled Kurt Angle on Jakked in Kurt's only Jakked appearance
Lost a Hardcore title match to Steve Blackman while rocking updated actual tights
Is that Baron Corbins dad?
I lost count of how many times Viscera accidentally splashed Mideon in the corner of the ring lol
Mideon looks like a melted Undertaker.
You gotta admit though, he was a great Cradle of Filth album!
That match he had with Tazz is the shortest wwe match there is.
Mideon's big moves are irish whips, back drops, and getting boring chants.
Tells me all I know that Hawk and Animal claimed that Mideon and Henry Godwin were too stiff in the ring.
At least he did one good thing in his career, preventing Gangrel from dying on the ring by accidental hanging
Was that first match hanging the one where Gangrel genuinely almost died?
Correct.
I love that despite his name being spelled "Mideon" his pants always had it spelled "Midian"
