Companies are obsessed with portability because it looks good on advertisement and makes the device more fragile and likely to break or overheat causing it to break. The faster you buy a new device the better. People claiming it's for lower weight and size for portability are just sloths that can't even carry their own weight in the real world. Most laptops are already lighter then a singular textbook, so you should have no problem carrying extra weight.

Personally, depending on how bright the LEDs can get on the back, they can serve a rather practical purpose. If on a desk facing a wall, they could provide backlight to help reduce eye strain/fatigue when using the laptop in low lighting. Even if they are not bright enough to reduce eye strain/fatigue in the same scenario, it could project some nice mood lighting! I put my laptop quite close to a white-ish wall (maybe something like 25cm to 15cm depending on use). The backlighting does produce a nice effect, I have it not teal ( light blue) colour. I really like it.
I got mine on sale. As someone who needed something portable, I love it- it’s super easy to carry around while still packing serious power. Getting it ~20% off, I think you can’t get anything better when it comes to price, build, power, and portability
It's such an amazing machine. Just look at those cinebench CPU scores. You're getting a ton of performance in balanced mode compared to other more powerful laptops. I ended up getting the X16 with the 4080/32 Gbs and Cherry MX keyboard for under 2900 out the door including the two-year premium plus warranty with accidentals. I got an x15 R2 prior to the release of this. Totally expected to pay a premium because of the thinness and alienware tax. overall though I actually really like the device. The x16 has some nice upgrades on the x15 R2 but not enough for me to want to change. Also in AU at the moment you can't get the 240hz 2560x1600 screen. The one you can get is only sRGB 144hz not 240 DCI-P3 which sucks. The software works well enough I didn't run into the same problems but I wouldn't rate it highly either.
The great cooling system and the full metal case are amazing features if its compared with an amazing display. I dont care about RGB or a 4090 in a laptop.
I really think Intel have it backwards with the H and HK.. It should be 8 P cores and 6 E or 8+8 as of this gen, not 6+8., cause if you disable the E then you are only left with 6.

Impressive Bios configuration, happy more Laptop's OEMs are allowing more freedom. Hope undervolting/underclocking can mitigate the high heat that the laptop can have. Other than that, it's impressive cooling performance for such a slim laptop. Some serious engineering effort.
AWCC being faster upon boot is actually a result of the most recent update. The entire Alienware subreddit has been on the community team to fix the Command Center and add missing features, and to their credit, theyve been listening. However, the new command center shipped in such a poor state out of the box. Long eay to go still.

Thought I will admit for the price I feel like it should of had a 4090 inside of it instead but regardless it performs amazingly well.
I just ordered a X16 R1 with a 4090. It will arive somewhere in the first week of januari. Just a question: When gaming on an external monitor, is it ok to play games with the lid of the laptop closed? Or will it get too hot fast?
It is not advisable. This is because Alienware is very particular about cooling(especially for this thin form factor). If you noticed, there are vents/grills just above the keyboard for out-take of hot air. So, closing the lid when gaming on an external monitor won't to great. Especially when it needs all the cooling it can get.

I'm wondering if you are planning on doing a review on the Asus strix scar 16. I'm planning on buying it but I don't know if it's worth the price
What does it matter if it's 1 mm thinner but weighs almost 6 lb bruh, the 13980hx strix g16 is 5.25lb for me makes so much more sense
Will you be reviewing the Legion 9i any time soon?
As soon as I can. I don't have one yet.
@@JarrodsTech Got it. Eagerly waiting for that one. I’m currently split between the Legion 9i and Zephyrus M16.
And thank you for the amazing content. Your videos helped me decide what to get three years ago and are still helpful today when I’m considering getting a new one.
16:40 Will u retest when cs2 come out?
Hi Jarrod, does the charger charge Legion Pro 7 with 140W or more?
really curious to know temperatures at full GPU / load ... i'm so skeptical..
Alienware and XMG laptops cost around 3000€ (RTX 4080, i9, 32GB RAM, 1TB SDD). Which is the overall best option/quality? Or is lenovo or ASUS better?
I'm badly waiting for the Legion 9 review
Same!
@@JarrodsTech damn didn't expect a reply. Just wanna say, love your vids man, the most detailed reviews for laptops, I bought the legion 5 pro 2021 (and upgraded to the exact ram u specified) based on ur vid. Keep up the good work, hopefully I'll be buying my next laptop watching ur vids.
How does it perform compared to asus rog g14/15 or M16?
Firstly, thank you for the review. I've been searching for the appropriate laptop for me recently. I'm a last year architecture student and I consider to use the laptop that I'm going to prefer on my works after my graduation. As you may know, in architecture we use some heavy programs such as Corona, 3DsMax, Vray. Therefore, I'm a bit undecided on two different laptops. Should I prefer Dell Alienware M16 Intel i9-13900HX 16" QHD+ 240Hz 32GB 1TB SSD RTX4080 or Lenovo Legion Pro 7 13th Generation Intel Core i9 13900HX-RTX4090 16Gb-32Gb-1Tb Ssd-16"-W11? I'm not very knowledgeable about computers so I would be happy if you can help.
My 4080 vs 4090 comparison video may help, but it really depends on the price difference as to whether that's worth it. The Legion might be cheaper/similar price because Alienware usually costs more money.
@@JarrodsTech Thank you so much!
Legion 9 review please, we want more info on the brand new watercooled laptop from Lenovo🙂
(also would be nice if someone reviewed Trident X from Acer, that is one hella cheap 4090 laptop).
Got a great deal on msi Ge78hx with a 13700hx and a 4080, are there any problems with that laptop as far as you know, since you only tested GE68hx
Dude… why is the rear so fugly? Did you get the non-metal backside?
I’ll definitely get one
what's the best laptop for 3D artist using software such as Blender, Maya, Zbrush, substance Painter, unreal engine?
Did they really put the vapor chamber on the other side?
THE WEBCAM and microphone?
Hello Jarrod, would you please review the Lenovo Legion slim 7 (AMD version)
Any chance for the MSI x Mercedes-AMG Stealth 16 laptop review vid soon?
No. Probably won't be reviewing it.
Please review more budget friendly laptops:
Gigabyte Aorus 15
Hp Omen 16 (not the transcend)
Hp Omen 17 with rtx 4080
Acer nitro 16
Acer Helios 16 (not the neo)
300 nits max is a no go for me
im still confused, what cause the msi titan gt77 is not reaching the peak, compare to other laptops its a lot expensive an has monstrous capacity
Hey jarrod among asus tuf f15 vs lenovo ideapad gaming 3 vs hp victus which one should i go for specs - ryzen 5 5600h rtx 3050 please help out a brother i am very confused. All of the laptops are in their old chassis not the new builds please suggest me the best choice
Thanks
What do u think about Alienware m16 w amd?
Say WHAT? 330 Watt charger? I know these are not cheap, but how do these stack up for creators?
Is the G14 the only 14" gaming laptop you'd recommend?
Hmm, probably. Though I have a review on the Legion 14" coming up next week and that might change my mind.
You should check out the Lenovo 9i
Planning on it.
