Hello, jarrod there is a new Lenovo loq with amd ryzen 7 8845hs with 4060 and 4050 can you review that new one ??
@@hiteshsuthar3445 We've covered the 2024 LOQ, won't be looking at any other configs, there's no real point. 4060 performance will be the same as what we showed last year, the new Ryzen CPUs are the same as last year just with better AI performance.
Any chance of testing the AMD Advantage version of this same laptop?
Could you tell if you have any plans to review the omen 16?
I think it's very good for gaming
Hey Jarrod! You think M18 or the 16 are gonna be back in stock with the 13th gen processors? Or for that matter even the Legion. Looking for a good deal on intel+4080 combo. Don't wanna go with the 7845 hx.
This laptop is so cheap, it only cost 1 and a half kidney
Here its worth 2 kidneys
Dell constantly runs sales. It’s fairly competitive for an 18-inch premium laptop.
I’ll take two!
Lol a kidney is not that expensive in Romania.
It's actually 1.5k
I want to give my soul for this.
So surprised that Alienware keeps underperforming in screen quality. I’d take the risk on it if the screen quality was there, but really don’t see why I wouldn’t stick with a Lenovo Legion in this case.
Yeah I mean it's not terrible, we both agreed it looked fine over here, and like I always say, 300+ nits isn't terrible, it's just you'd want more for $3500 USD. Color gamut/response time etc was otherwise no problem, just the brightness 🤔
Almost 4kg, Jesus Christ 😱
But 340 nits brightness and poor performance in a $3500 laptop is the final nail in the coffin 😅
Nevertheless, thank you for raising awareness 🔥
And this is why gaminglaptop period deals exists. Lenovo's got a 4090 laptop for like 2500
I don't understand why people are so shocked about this. I have an over 7 year old laptop, that's only 17.3", though probably has the same footprint as this one, because mine has very big bezels. Anyway, mine has over 4 kgs! Without the charger. And I'm perfectly fine with that.
I wish more would also not shy away from this and have well built, well cooled, feature & port packed laptops. I have 4 sticks of RAM, one HDD, 2 nvme SSDs, I regularly use the 4 USB type A ports, along with the other ports. Oh, and it has a DVD too. Though to be fair, in these 7 years, I think I used it about 10 times only. Still, the idea that is a true workhorse, able to do absolutely anything you need / throw at it stands.
@@Winnetou17 Agreed! Someone recently complained on TPU about laptops being heavy and bulky. I still have an old Asus 17" from around 2013. Those were big but powerful and cool 😎 🧊
More brightness equals more power equals bigger brick. 340 nits is bright enough. Get glasses if you think it's not.
@@Winnetou17 ports, cooling, and screen size > portability any day
Alienware never fails to disappoint.
I’ve had a few of them over the years and they’ve been pretty solid tbh. Good aftersales service too.
@@MikeyCh09 Have you ever had any problems with an Alienware laptop?
@esbanfx5876 I have, my M18 4090 screen just fucking died. . .
Love the band t-shirts in almost all your video!
SO EXCITED! Was impatient for your review!
Glad you were able to get your hands on the M18 this year. I purchased mine last year with the i9-13900HX and RTX4080. I couldn't be happier with how it performs.
How are the thermals?
@@wardog5537 I set the CPU temp limit to 85F. I've had no issues with performance.
@@cueball981 thank you for replying
Jarrod'sTech, Subscribed because your content is fantastic!
hey thanks
Chat does he know its bought?
Hey Jarrod, great videos and chats as always. Can I ask which soft do you use for creating these charts and graphs and what software do you use for editing ?
Mine is on the way! Can’t wait! Also have a Secret Labs Gaming Desk and Gaming chair to complete my new gaming setup!
I've just bought this and been using it for 2 weeks. I absolutely LOVE it. 1) The brightness, which everyone is talking about has not been an issue.. even turning it down sometimes.. Yes if you're outside I can imagine it being annoying but who games outside? 2) I can play any game in ultra settings with decent fps around 80-90 for cyberpunk and hogwarts legacy no lag 3) the fan is loouder than I thought it would be but stays cool
Nice shirt! Made me go back and listen to Twilight of the Thunder God, man it's been so long. Also nice review!
Those fans under load are probably louder than I'd like at higher performance modes but yeah that screen has no excuse not to be brighter at its price point.
Definitely gets loud yeah, but not too bad in the lower modes which don't perform that much worse. I suppose 4 fans running slower should still do fairly well than running them at full blast.
I always use headphones, so it's never a problem.....
IETS GT 600 Baby
Fantastic review as usual :)
Welcome back Jarrod!
Thanks!
Hey Jarrod. Great video, so can u tell me if the laptop alienware m16 or m18 can the video card be changed? I appreciate your response
Genial que tengan pista de audio tus videos 👍
I'm looking to buy it right now, glad you have made a video in time, heh. Thank you!
how was it?
hey jarrod, could you make a video on past gaming laptops and pick out some that you would still recommend in 2024?
Your work is incredible, Thank you for your coverage.
I coulda sworn I saw two Alienware laptops on your gaming laptops website earlier this week. The m16 and x16
It seems as it would be only available to the US but could you somehow get your hands on the rx7900m model? I would really love to know how amds gpu performs(although I can’t buy it either but still).
Do you have an Australian version of the laptop deals website? Thanks for the good content.
Not currently. We do have this post on places to buy in Australia though: jarrods.tech/where-to-buy-a-gaming-laptop-in-australia/
Ok we do now as of today: gaminglaptopdeals.com.au
@@JarrodsTech wow, thank you very much!! This is an amazing resource.
Hey Jarrid why you don’t make a video 4080 mobile vs rtx 3080 desktop ? Or 4090 vs 3090ti ?
I'm waiting for MSI GE78HX Review...honestly can't wait for next year when I decided to upgrade
quick wuestion jarrod, how do you get the full performance of your wifi router to reach those speeds
Jarrod, may you please review Rog Flow X13 2023 with the 4090 xg mobile?
Excellent review... Well done.
thanks
Hey Jarrod there is a sale going on in Alienware where we are getting x16 rtx 4070 variant at 1399 should I grab it or skip can you recommend me any other laptop or buy this
In advance thank you
What's the best gaming laptop with good build quality I recently broke my Asus tut f15
Love your videos man
Can you review M16R2 too??
this, but smaller
Would like you to review the Acer Predator Titon 17x, there isn't really any video reviews for some reason & one review said it performs like an Rtx 4080, i read a guy who had bought it & said a bios update had rectified the performance, but im not buying for his words, its got a flipped motherboard which isnt great, but it's built like a tank, slim design & the screen is mini led & looks great......
I can't wait to see you review the Laptop with Snapdragon X Elite.
I don't get the brightness complaints on desktop replacement laptops.
They should nearly never be used outside so when would you ever want to use them in 'flashlight' mode?
Coil whine comment will have me looking around, but will likely go for an R1 AMD model.
2K for 165hz only? No HDR screen? No Thunderbolt 5? No USB 3.2 Gen2x2 or USB 4 Gen2 for all other USB ports? Slow RAM? And for 4000+ bucks? Alienware is crazy.
Hey Jarrod, at 4:38 is the 2nd M.2 slot on the right 2280? In the video it can be seen it's written 2230
1 2230 that hold 512gb, 2 2280 up to 4tb... according to their site depending on original spec for the R1 which idk why you wouldnt get the r1 for quite a bit cheaper and just upgrade it yourself. (4080, 4090, 7600 GPUs)
looking in to buying a laptop to replace my desktop as im constantly on the go would you reccomend waiting for 50 series or buying a 4090 laptop now ??
imo wait for the 50 to come out and buy a 5070 since it will likely have 4090 preformance... or a 4090 for cheaper.
You should test the ASUS Zephyrus Dou with 4090 and 4080 because I saw in Amazon that it have problems with CPU temperatures, that stopped me from wanting to buy it!
Would you rather buy the alienware m18 r2 or the predator Helios 18 from this year, when it would be at the same price?
The M18 R1 is the sensible buy here, the 4080 version pops up every now and then in my local Dell outlet and combined with a 10% to 15% discount makes it a killer deal!
Ouch, a 300 nit standard panel in 2024. What happened to you Alienware? You used to be ahead of the game. This year I went with the 2024 Blade 18 with a 300hz mini LED QHD+ panel that hits almost 1300 nits.
Not to mention they soldered the RAM on the x16 r2 but not the m16 r2. That's a problem when the x16 has HX CPUs but is limited to 32 GB of RAM max but the m16 has Meteor Lake AND two RAM slots.
@JarrodsTech Do u plan on making a review on m16 r2? It's a completely new design at an affordable cost from alienware. Would love to know your thoughts.
It'll be out in a couple of weeks
my PalWorld crashes on this laptop sometimes, but not on a Lenovo Legion with 3080 and some Alienware with AMD chip and 3070... I heard there are issues with 14th gen Intel and motherboard pushing with too much power... how do I set the BIOS to prevent crashes?
I got the MSI Thin 15 15.6 with 144HZ with intel core i5 and with Ge force RTX 4050 2 weeks ago and it’s good for my first gaming laptop runs smoothly 😅
Hey could you do a review of the Alienware M16 R2. I am interested in buying it and want to know what you think of it.
It'll be out in a couple of weeks
6:43 Jarrod, can the fans be removed without flipping the motherboard? You know, if it is possible, cleaning dust will be easy. Otherwise, the maintenance of this laptop will be difficult.
If possible, please include this information in your future reviews. I consider this info very important (I live in tropical area, so a lot of dust), but no one covers that
in the maximum screen brightness chart you did not include the acer predator helis's 250hz mini-LED display that can go up to a 1000 nits in her, and the last yrs model with 4080 with mini led is for 2k wich is a killer deal
This laptop is good for 3d rendering or not pls tell me??
I think you should test Linux support with Fedora as it has much newer drivers, and they eventually trickle down to other distros.
I'm using one right now. I love the keyboard feel and responsiveness, and I love the form factor. But, I have had freezing issues (AMD). The mouse (wireless) and keyboard will just stop responding even though the machine keeps running. And I have issues with audio buffering too, think Max Headroom.
I've been through a few firmward updates, and hopefully this stuff gets ironed out. Because of all the gaming laptops I've had in the past 5 years (MSI, ASUS, and Razer 17 Pro), this keyboard is the only one that hasn't made me toss it in the trash.
What is better to take Lenovo slim 5 14.5’ or Dell g5 rtx 4060 8 gb both
The fact that till now Alienware has refused to put a Mini LED display in their gaming laptops in 2024 compared to other competitions like Lenovo, Asus, Acer, Razer and MSI is really discouraging. And on top of that, they're asking for a hefty price when compared to other brands with better display and build quality.
This is cheaper than the 18 inch Asus and Razer competition. You can actually buy this, an external ultrawide monitor, and a few games on Steam for the price of a Blade 18.
can u review the m16 r2 and x2? looking forward to it
It'll be out in a couple of weeks
@@JarrodsTech thank you!! Any thoughts on MSI stealth 14 ai as well? Maybe upcoming review in the future
I'm sorry for bothering but..
I'm buying this evening or tomorrow one gaming laptop between
the HP Omen 16 (2021) and the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16:
.Hp Omen 16 2021:
i7 11800h, 3070 maxq, 16gb ddr4, 1Tb, fhd 16:9 1080p
price: 1000€
.Acer Predator Helios Neo 16:
i9 13900hx, 4060, 16gb ddr5, 1Tb, qhd 16:10 1600p
price: 1600€
.Is Neo16 far better for gaming?
.Is Neo16 more powerful cpu really useful for gaming?
.Are 500 vs 300 nits important for a good visual experience?
.Does the Neo 16 worth spending 600€/$ more?
Please and thanks
I stopped upgrading to Alienware because of bugs, the first month you will not notice anything but after a while you will. Start seeing bugs that are annoying and gets bad every time you upgrade your software; problems with screen brightness, audio, throttling, fx, battery quick drainage, overclock and under clock, ram failure, bios update failure, screen tearing... I love there design, support, and performance, but the bug part😭😭😭
Please do a review on M16 R2.
I had a first generation x17 and it’s a great laptop… I have had not one issue and it’s still in perfect shape. Mechanical keyboard is awesome and still boots in seconds. Maybe I got lucky…
Please make a video comparing asus tuf vs rog, i want to see diference between budged and flagship, and if flagship is worth it...same specs.
Jarrod'sTech, This made me laugh so hard, thanks for sharing!
Hey community..
Which would you recommend for me, between this m18r2 or Legion Pro 7i?
Your responses will be appreciated🙏🏿
Legion for me, but I prefer a bit smaller
When Acer's Helios and Neo review is coming?
Jarrod could you review the amd 7900m m18
Can you review the 2024 acer predator helios 16 I'm thinking about buying it but I'm not sure yet
Even though I have bought a laptop I still like to watch your videos they are entertaining
I purchased this laptop few weeks ago and I could not be happier with its performance. I got it to replace my desktop so I usually have it hooked up to my monitor. I occasionally move it to the kitchen or den, and it gives me about 4 hours of use for grading papers and entering grades. I bought the base model and updated it to 4tbs of storage and 96GB of RAM and it is perfect. It is a nice compliment to my MacBook Pro to give me the bests of both worlds.
hi jarrod, when's the asus rog zephyrus g16 2024 review?
That aside, Jarrod you actually look better with longer hair I never noticed
Please review lenevo loq ryzen 7 8845hs , Rtx 4060 , 1440p display
4kg is not a problem, people can get used to it. The bigger body helps in airflow, but at the price point it has a nonsense screen... I was planning on getting this but for the bad price is just went with a pc and got a 7800x3d and 4080 super for the same price as 4080 super m18 r2 in Ireland
The key difference between gaming laptops nowadays are the design, because everybody putting bunch of power on a device and selling them with stupid amount of money. I don't like this design. They somehow expected to make a difference by combining alienware design with the first gen HP Omen. This not retro, this is old fashion.
I also don't like the design, too smooth for m, the base looks like it could slip off of a desk with the slightest incline. I prefer the design & look of the older Alienware models, Area 51 & before, much more futuristic ergonomics to me.
Wish they added the rgb in the trackpad too like the x16. Compared to the x16 this is a much better buy.
Hello, I have an R18M2 with the same configuration, is it normal that I have a CPU temperature of 90 to 100 degrees when gaming, I think that's very high?
😦
Can u make a review for the Lenovo Legion slim 5 AMD Gen 9 2024
Just got the same laptop! thank you
Waiting for midrange laptop reviews
I got the Asus Rog Strix G18 (2024) and there is no Whisper mode in Nvidia app, any idea why?
I have A question whics better asus rog strix g18 4080 13980hx or asus rog strix scar 16 4080 13980hx version (cooling performance important for me)
alot of people come to the channel for laptop reviews , i come for the great metal tshirts this amon amarth tshirt looks sick!
I forgot how much of a deal I got on my Lenovo Legion Pro 7 AMD. It's effectively a better looking 16 in laptop, with a better screen, for what's effectively the same performance, however I only have 32 gigs of ram, because I simply do not need 64 at all right now. I got it on sale for $2700 and currently have 3tb of storage in it, still for cheaper than that that Alienware.
could you make a video about the colorful laptop.
Jarrod, Colorful launched a new Laptop of theirs called the EVOL P15 in India at crazy prices, literally a 4060 at 4050 price, can you review this Laptop please?
The Point of this is Desktop Replacement running one more more external screens, and if you have to bring it somewhere fits great in like a carry on bag, roller etc.. Not a backpack type of daily driver. Also I would go with Alienware over the others as Dell the only one that has service in other countries even onsite service. Digital Nomads and myself needed that service more than once overseas. I want the larger body of the 18 for better thermals and cooling set up. Will still have an External or Two going and having all the ports like Ethernet at measurements not much bigger that than the X16 which is kinda stupid... The X models are thin but tall and wide so they do not offer portability advantages except in weight yet sacrifice ports like ethernet and especially cooling.... Its M16, M18 or G series for me
wake me up when it's reasonably priced and hopefully updated legion time
Hey Jarrod, as we all know that 4050,60 and 70 dont go beyond 100-105watts, then why companies market their laptops saying that the 4050,60 or 70 fitted in their laptop is of 140watts?
Can you review M16 R2 it is quite a redesign from R1 last year
It'll be out in a couple of weeks
@@JarrodsTech Thanks
This is a desktop replacement people. I have one and the screen is good looking, brightness is not an issue. Flies on games and powerful little workstation. Catch it on sale for a good deal. Has the portability to travel. Not something youd be dragging to school, on the bus etc.
1 frame is excellent as someone who plays fighting games and platformers. Gaming laptops need to be this fast in general.
HELP, watched hours of your videos to make a decision and theres too much choice!
i want to play tarkov and squad on a laptop as i work away from home. i like the lenovo LOQ you reviewed but money isnt too much of an issue should i go higher for the demands of tarkov?
thanks for all opinions,
I Cyber Monday'd a M18 last year with a 4800 for around $2300.00 and moved from a Lenovo because my understanding the Legion doesn't offer a 18" screen. The thermals on AW is way better than my Legion. So far I'm pretty satisfied, the other choice i was considering was a 18" Razor
Getting i9 + 4090 for 2300$ is a win
@@randy89555 sign ms up where can I find it
Bro can you tell me I can I go for acer predator helio Neo 16 i7 13gen 4050 varient is bad or not if bad so can you suggest me best gaming laptop under 1400 usd
I have i9 4060 Neo 16. It's a great unit, but this spec I have is niche. The i9 is a thoroughly stupid laptop CPU (doesn't have the power budget to run all the pointless atom 'e' cores) and the 4060 needs DLSS (fake pixels and fake frame) to handle QHD res. It works for me tho, I run a 100W load on the CPU a lot of the time and the fans can be set at a manageable liveable noise level. GPU doesn't get anywhere near its tdp. This unit was on sale for 1900$ AUD so you should be able to do better than 1400usd for a better spec, if you're willing to watch and wait for a good deal
I wonder, when will all those manufacturers stop "saving" on the quality of speakers, microphone and webcam. I really don't get it. We are talking about 4K or even 5K USD laptops here and what we are getting? Crappy speakers, crappy microphone and a crappy webcam. For 5K USD price tag ... I wish Microsoft would finally start supporting Apple M3 processor architecture, so I could get the brand new MacBook Pro leaving all these ridiculous issues behind once and for all ...
Dell is known in the gaming laptop space and even XPS space for cheaping out on parts, Lenovo laptops(using one right now) simply have better speaker and webcam(gamers like me won't care since we use headphones when gaming and we even taped over webcam when not in use), along with microphone and screen and it is more reasonably priced than Dell. But to be realistic, if you want to play demanding AAA games which will push your laptop to the absolute max(forget battery life and noise level even with MacBook Pro at that stage and just plug into the adapter), would you buy a high end headset with microphone for that purpose instead since you definitely can afford that? Cheaping out on parts still isn't an excuse at that price point though.
Get a razer or scar 18 both have nice speakers.
Is this laptop have certification militar grade ?
Definitely love these large display Laptops.
Just bought one from dell. 2 week wait. Intel i9 14900hx and 4090 right around $4,000.
Does anyone know what the material is under the soft touch layer?

Can anyone help me with this info please? I'm looking at either the Alienware M18 with i9 14900hx, 4070 card, 32gb 5600 ram, monitor is 18" QHD+ (2560 x 1600) 165Hz, 3ms, ComfortView Plus, NVIDIA G-SYNC + DDS, 100% DCI-P3. OR : PC specialist Recoil 17inch, same processor same card, same ram but with a different monitor, the monitor is 17" MATTE QHD 240HZ SRGB 100% LED WIDESCREEN (2560X1600) which I believe is the same laptop as the XMG Neo 17. This laptop is for Photoshop use, my question is : can anyone tell me if either of these screens are IPS or equivalent, also, does the PC Specialist have G-Sync capability? If anyone has any other advice it will be most welcome! Thanks!
Thanks a lot for covering Linux support
