      Dunno how do you feel about it, but I think that reviewers should opt more for not buying this year laptops (and GPUs), it's the only way consumers can influence manufactures.
      I got really disappointed with news that 4070ti is selling pretty well :(
      And 4070 this year is a peace of garbage, almost same performance as 3070ti, but 30% higher price ...
      I've got 2 years ago my rog G513QM with qhd display (of better quality than those that they put today in new laptops), 5900hx, 3060 for 1350eur. Today for almost 10% more performance I should pay 20% more (4060)... that's ridiculous, that is an real degradation...
      That made me to buy an PS5 and just cancel my plan to update my laptop, I'll keep mine for R6 Siege, but most probably next laptop will be no more than a typing machine.

    As someone buying this for mainly an office laptop for I.T. work, I see this as one of the best value options possible. Business laptops are terribly priced for their specs. The gaming performance is a bonus and for £1,700 this does the job as well as I'll probably find. You can fit the m.2 drive. The “bending” is completely normal as it allows you to insert the drive at an angle with ease. Trust me, it wont break anything in the laptop.

    • @Spurdospaerde692
      @Spurdospaerde692 5 місяців тому +1

      It depends on the drive then, I suppose. I tried just now with a double-sided 2 TB Kingston Fury Renegade (the version without a heat-sink). Not a chance! No flex in this SSD, and had there been flex, it would have happened too close to the M.2 slot. Had I tried to "bend" this SSD, I would either have ripped off the M.2 slot from the mobo or cracked the SSD in half. And that's for certain - trust me!
      It worked just fine in the secondary M.2 slot, though.

    • @Spurdospaerde692
      @Spurdospaerde692 5 місяців тому

      BTW, it's not shown very clear in the video just why you can't fit a double-sided SSD in the primary M.2 slot, and Jarrod doesn't explain it. Right next to the primary M.2 slot, on the mobo under the SSD disk, there's a ribbon cable connector which is a few mm thick. This connector stops a double-sided SSD (with thick enough chips on the backside) from being pushed down and seated.

      Well it's completely opposite. GPU prices would be cheaper if the processing node stays the same as the manufacturing technology improves. However the cost for microchip manufacturers i.e. TSMC, Samsung & Intel for every node level improvement actually increases exponentally. For example, in order to develop 3nm processing node production line, TSMC actually spent more than $40 billion USD. For example, the 500 nits 240Hz screen is an optional upgrade this year and the base models are having a 350-nits 165Hz panel, a significant downgrade from the standard 500-nits 165Hz screen in 2021 and 2022 models. Thunderbolt 4 has been removed from this year's model whereas it was there for last two year's Intel models and even last year's AMD version got USB4 via BIOS upgrade. The Screen is still providing 100% sRGB, like last two years with around 70% Adobe RGB and DCI-P3 coverage whereas Asus G, M, ROG Strix/Strix SCAR, Alienware M16, all are offering almost full DCI-P3 coverage, making them very good for Video and photo editing tasks.

    Great video, though I thought it was a bit too negative given the availability of some great deals on the Legion Pro 5i. Yesterday, I purchased the Legion Pro 5i with i7-13700hx CPU, RTX 4060 GPU, 32 gb DDR5-4800 memory, 1 tb M.2 SSD, and 240 hz 1600p display from B&H. At $1249, this was a phenomenal opportunity relative to similarly priced gaming laptops, including the ASUS ROG Strix G16, which comes with an i9 CPU but 4050 GPU, or HP Omen 16, which has a much poorer display even with the same refresh rate. The system display is great, the build is solid, and it comes with a large number of ports. For someone who will use a laptop for multiple purposes (work, web browsing, watching videos, online roleplaying, and minimal gaming [mainly BG III]), I don't think there is a better value available at the current time.

    Hi @JarrodsTech, I'm looking at a 2022 rtx 3070 which is almost same price as rtx 4060 2023, which one to pick here ? Also does intel/amd processors matter ? I see amd versions push more power to gpu. Would love to hear your thoughts on this.

    This new gen is sure a disappointment. I'm glad I got the 2021 Legion 7 with 3080 for $1440 last year, it's been holding up well and I love having 16 Gb of Nvidia VRAM with an AMD CPU. The 2022 version was nice but much more expensive while only being slightly better overall. Now this year is a downgrade to save costs but still more expensive.

    I had the 2021 5 Pro, but had to return the device because of a similar issue which caused the screen to go black on closing and reopening the lid while in dGPU mode, and ended up restarting the device every time this happened. The issue was later fixed with an Nvidia driver update, but it took almost 7 months to get it patched.

    As Always, Thank You Jarrod for your contribution with in-depth contents and reviews. Man why is this dude so under-rated ?
    I always wanted to buy a Legion for the last 2 years but recently bought an Asus TUF F15 2022 (China Variant, 12700H + 3060). The reason is simple, the legion was overpriced and expensive compared to their rivals and I desperately needed a laptop for my ongoing project. Lenovo changed the gaming laptop lineup in 2021 with their Legion 5 3060 130W and better thermals. 2022 ones were better too but now legion is cutting down improvements at higher cost. Sad.
    I request Lenovo to improve their Legion displays to 100% DCI-P3 like Asus and similar rivals. Additionally, pls keep the 3.5mm Jack on the left side instead of right -_-

      @@tahmeedabtahee8976 It depends, they had another model for 100 or $200 cheaper than mine that was a Ryzen model. I would make sure that you got the 4070 version. But it was labeled as a five and I even called Lenovo and they confirmed that it was literally the exact same laptop that was listed on their website but I was getting double the memory and paying $100 less at micro center. Same screen, same refresh rate, everything. I will be running tests and benchmarks to make sure that it's actually running fine. But both of Lenovo nor the representative at micro center could identify any differences. I wonder if it was a mistake
