The Basics of Overclocking Ryzen RAM Using the ASUS BIOS
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 жов 2024
- This is a basic guide teaching you how to overclock Ryzen RAM. I'm using the Asus bios in the Asus x470 Prime Pro motherboard. The memory used is Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200mhz. This is Hynix memory so the overclocking potential is more limited than Samsung RAM. I go over frequency and timing overclocks and give an idea of safe voltages.
This video just covers the basics and in the future I may upload a more in depth guide where I go through the whole process of stabilizing overclocks.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask them in the comments below and I'll be happy to answer them. Thanks for watching! - Наука та технологія
That's a nice example of explaining everything without explaining anything... NEXT!
Me too!
omg...this *cough* tutorial...actually irritated me for the 3 mins i tried to watch..
Actually he does explain good. Problem is you guys who watch does not have enough basic understanding of it to follow what he says and when he jumps around showing you. Listen and watch what he says. This is also not for someone who has never seen this before and thinks its a standars tutorial to change on all ram and MBs lol
Get more knowledge and watch again.
lol no. you don't call a tutorial "the basics" if it needs basics to be understood
DJ Full this was the basics. I was having issues with my timings, but overall this is simple and easy to follow. The guy you replied to is referring to bios “basics”. You should listen to what he says, this wasn’t meant for entry level to pc. It’s meant for entry level to configure your oc’d ram speeds.
I was having issues with my new itx build and it kept stuttering during games. Now it's smooth like butter, Ryzen loves high frequency ram! Thanks alot bro, I appreciate it!
please someone help me im gonna wait for ur reply listen: i went to advanced options then i went to ai tweaker but the Ai Overclock tuner option just dosnt show up im counting on u guy plz help
OMG tysm i finally Unserstand it i watched over 200 UA-cam Videos to know what i have to do and what is rekemended and didnt Unserstand it but thanks to your Video i finally Unserstand it tyyyy
Bro...using SOC LLC5 is how my old 1700 got fried. It took about 3-4 weeks until VRM temps were 103C at idle without any workload... voltages needed to be raised and frequencies needed to be lowered to stop crashing. I realize its ok while benchmarking because unsafe voltage is kinda ok with very good cooling for short times like a couple hours overclocking session. But i dont think noobs should ever go above 2-3 LLC. If you dont set it to manual it goes to 1.15, add raised vdroop which LLC gives you more than you ask and that and you have a unsafe voltage and some will think its fine. Great video but i just wanted to clear that up. Keep it up man
Where is LLC set when on auto?
@@Tjecktjeck ua-cam.com/video/Z8nFdFpuVBg/v-deo.html here is where i learned what llc is doing. Auto is allowing all Vdroop. Anything lower than the highest 2 setting for example llc4 and 5 giv tge exact voltage and MORE voltage for level 5 pending on your board. I have an asus x470-F and i never go above level 3 for cpu. It is meant when the load on the cpu makes the voltage drop too far and llc doesnt allow it to drop to where it crashes. Be aware that software wont tell you about this added voltage especially highest llc thats why its stupid. Highest LLC IS STUPID. I just want everyone to know its not something you want to max out. Personally llc 2 is perfect once cinebence wont finish and voltage almost helps. Just remember some vdroop is necessary. Its how switching power supplies work
Instead of spending $250 or more on better ram I’ve been wanting to try to oc my Corsair vengeance 3000mhz CL16 to at least 3600 to match the infinity fabric frequency on my Ryzen 5800x. This video was very informative and is a good base line for me to start !

what is the max voltage for my ram
can i just set to 1.4 volts my dram voltage and set my memory frequency higher than 3200mhz
thank you
Becareful with memory frequency if you get high or too low and restart your pc it wont startup the only way to fix it(i think) is to remove your CMOS battery and wait for about a minute and put it back in, what this does is it resets your bios settings to default.
really good tip this has happened to me before lol
Yep, think that’s what just happened to me. I lowered the latency timings to much
There is a jumper you can short out with a jumper cap near the battery labled CLCMOS, CLRTC, be sure your power supply is off before you do that.
it happenede to me before i tried removing the battery didnt work
i had to send the asus service
they fixed the problem
I like how he said the TRC cant be lower than the sum of DRAM PRE time and DRAM ACT time. Then he sets the PRE time to 18 And ACT time to 36 and leaves TRC at 51. 18 + 36 = 54 and 51 is less than 54. I don't know anything about overclocking but contradicting yourself doesn't make me feel confident. Lets see how the rest of this video goes... Maybe i just misunderstood him
I'm a year late, but the TRC is at auto, so it'll abjust itself automatically
Good lord get your thoughts together before you make a tutorial video.
Honest to god, I've seen someone try to start a Minecraft lets play even more shaky then this. It was so bad his attempt at running jokes came off as cringe adding an UM counter to the top right...
So I just got an 3950x it’s good so I’m never going to overclock my system. Firstly because I don’t think it’s worth messing up a 750 dollar CPU I just got today, second it runs as fast a I need it to at stock levels. I just upgraded from a 1700 Ryzen. It was shit compared to what I’m getting now with just stock. I don’t think I’ll replace this 3950x for YEARS.
Edit: I’m now putting down your totorial, but I’m personally not taking a risk with this others might, but that’s them I still found your videos interesting to watch 🙂.
Why did you buy it for 750 wth
Thanks I'll try to get my ram to its rated speed hopefully tomorrow.
Thanks for the vid man really helpful if you have an asus x570. I’d mention the dram calculator though I just found out about that and looks really cool. With imported XMp profile and correct manufacture and stuff which is really hard to pick lol.
4:18 6:21 for myself
Thank you for guide!
Instructions unclear, my RAM sticks made a bang sound, and they're not working anymore.
Good Lord!
Why tf would you OC anything if you don't know how to do it properly. You changed your voltage and that is why your shit died. You can't watch a single video and think to yourself: "Aight I know how to OC now easy".....
Waited 2 minutes for my PC to POST like aww this gon be good!... oh shit
FYI this guide is not entry level nor is it really helping me understand how ASUS did their BIOS...maybe slice the BIOS overclocking into a series? I got nothing out of this video.
Loved your keyboard press sound hahaha
Why i cant enable DOCP?
You jump all over the place dude. Lost me. I think you need to slow down or only do what you know.
Man, if there were so many settings for an oc setup, you should have separated them instead of this info dump.

My DRAM voltage is limited to 1.35v.
I can't pass 1.35.
Mobo TUF X570, R3 3200G and Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB 3000mhz.
Try to hit the +/- keys on ur number keypad
It should allow u to set the current display value(1.35) it gives u the choice once u hit the +/- keys to set between 1.2 n 1.8
Must keep under 1.45 to maintain stability for ur vdram overclocking (u can also add value to the vddcr-soc, setting relates to ur vdram) speed u need to give it at lease some sufficient power... also if u have drmos (powerManagercontrol) which most new asus board includes u should be able to set all this with the mb software Amorycrate... or in the bios (ai tweeker)digital vrm
I bought an Kingston DDR4 3000 Mhz RAM and just do up the Frequency to 3000 Mhz. Everything else is on auto. I leave the rest on auto since I don't know what I am doing.
Since I bought already the RAM of 3000 MT/s then I wanted to get to most of it as well.
I leave DOCP on auto. If I put it on DOCP the PC isn't booting anymore.
So I leave DOCP on auto and up only the Frequency of the RAM to 3000 Mhz.
When I set it to DOCP it changes automatically to 3000 Mhz and shows some tight timings of 15 17 17 17. So I guess that's the optimum but can't use DOCP since it does not boot.
Just setting the frequency to 3000 Mhz (DOCP on auto) then the timings are 22 21 21 21. But that works.
I disabled Precision Drive Overboost and limited the thermals of the processor to 65 Degrees Celsius.
Does anyone else just up the frequency of the RAM only and everything else on auto?

I am SERIOUSLY don't think this guy knows what he is talking about.
Idea of overcklocking is to make ram faster. So in order to increase overall speed of ram he increases latency. So he makes ram timings worse to increase speed. I suspect he wins NOTHING on speed increase as such.
So I just bought ddr5 ram for a new build.. it was listed as 6000mhz but it’s only showing 4200mhz… apparently it can go to 6000 when over clocked and is sold with a overclocked guarantee?
Idk anything about this stuff but I figured you buy 6000 you get 6000?!
The 6000 MHz is with XMP/ DOCP aktiv don't bother overclocking your Ram if you only want it to run on 600 MHz just aktivate it in you BIOS.
I'm on the asus prime b350 plus mobo, and i just went in the bios and set my 2666 kit to 2800 mhz. Didn't touch anything else. Should I change the timings too or it's fine?
Voltage and timings. Get to 3000+
Did it work out for u? How many extra fps?

@@rolithesecond what can we do about it...
hey I found your video by a reddit thread. First off thanks for your time. I had worked with Corsair support because my Corsair Vengeance 3200mhz ram randomly crashes on me (mostly upon start up) this is with a Ryzen 9 3900x + ASUS tuf gaming x570-plus (wi-fi) mobo. I've ran memtest86 which passes 4 pass throughs. So corsair is ruling this a cpu/mobo issue.. I can run the RAM at default 2133mhz fine, it's only when running at 3200mhz. Are the auto settings not viable with enabling XMP? I have ensured 1.35V but wasn't too sure what else to tweak. I plan to reference this video when I get home, although my use will be for gaming/streaming vs benchmarking, but figured I'd shoot these concerns out to a veteran like yourself. Thanks! -Dan
please don}t follow this "tutorial" there is no clear explanation on anything and playing with voltages is not that safe
i have 2 16 gb 3200 mhz ram with a b450m plus mother board and the most my ram can do is 2133 mhz why is this and can i fix
same here
same
i can't overclock
Can I ignore this message then "Performamce is usually best when memory Clock:FCLK is 1:1 Synch" ?
Is that safe to go ahead with that D.O.C.P?
Thanks for the video. On my TUF gaming A520M plus I notice the bios does not allow odd numbers for the CAS setting if you set it to an odd number it adds 1 to the setting.
I have the same motherboard but for me this first overclocking option does not appear, you know what it can be?
you have solved this?
Same here
When I go on ai overclock tuner it only has the option manual and auto ?
can i manually oc a 2666 ram to 3200 by changing memory frequemcy and change the dram voltage to 1.35v and thats it?
I am not even able to disable the geardown mode. I have to either let it be on Auto (which i suspect is keeping it enabled) or enable it. And due to that it wont let me even reduce my first cas latency value so running right now as 16-14-14-28 at stock 3600 MHz speed. Will try overclocking it and check whats the outcome.
Hey! is that possible for just one stick of RAM? If so, which channel?
So I'd like to go to 2800- 3200mhz from 2666mhz how would I do that?
This is super frustrating. How do I get to the BIOS. Idek how to get there. How do you get that screen to pop up !!???
spam delete when you turn on your computer
Too late now, I was going to advise reading the motherboard manual, it will show you a lot of things.
I don't see a setting in the Asus bios (x570 tuf gaming) for the uclock. ryzen has mclock (memory) fclock (infinity fabric) and uclock which afaik is the on die memory controller speed. I want to run 1:1:1 ratio... i can set my memory speed, and my infinity fabric speed to 1800 or even 1900mhz, but i don't see a manual setting for uclock, and I'm wondering if it's maxing out at 1600 and not locking to 1:1. or maybe it even goes to 1800 but not 1900? I don't know... I want to know what the behavior is and whether or not it can be changed. Some brands of motherboards I believe allow user control of this setting. If I had this information, I could set my ram and IF clocks for a 1:1:1 and tighten ram timings.
