it's fitting that in Mexico we celebrate the day of the dead on november 1st (and 2nd) by giving food and offerings to ancestors, so it seems to be more closely aligning to a more accurate celebration of halloween, loved the video! 💀✨

Overall we have many traditions that are from pagans-rodnovery people, but many older and young people dont even know, or just dont care enough.

a lot of our current halloween traditions were from the late 1800s to 1900s where it transitioned from being social gatherings mostly for young adults to creating fun activities for kids to prevent them from trashing the town like making candies and bobbing apples
Funny story, one Halloween when my mom and dad were dating my mom bought my dad Bairín breac (halloween brack in Irish) and its just a game now to see who gets the slice with the ring. My mom made sure my dad got the slice with the ring (hint hint) but as soon as he found it he just started going on about how he hates the ring in the brack tradition and that someone could choke and it’s always cheap metal leaking guck into it, etc, etc. My mom kept that story for after they got married

In Ireland, where the holiday started, we still have some kooky traditions. For example, fireworks. Loads of them. For the entire month. I do not sleep during October. Some people also mix kale with mash and put coins wrapped in tinfoil into it, and you can keep any coins you find.

It feels like a crime that you didn't even mention the origins of the jack-o'-lantern, specifically why it's called that. It's named after a trickster named Jack who bested the devil three times. On three separate occasions he managed to escape death and the devil's judgment by trapping the devil in a ring of salt the first time and in his pockets next to a crucifix in the second. The third time, however, he managed to catch the devil and say he would let him go if he was given eternal life. The devil agreed, and gave him an ember from hell itself, which he would have to carry if he wanted his immortality. So he took a turnip or lantern depending on the story, hollowed it out, and placed it inside, making it into a lantern. Hence the name, jack of the lantern.

They thought it looked great and I'm so proud of myself having never done this before 😄 Also, I'm now 22 and was very discouraged that I was reeeeally pushing the edge of my childhood but NO ONE CARED HOW OLD I WAS! They just wanted to get rid of their candy and say Happy Halloween! It was pretty fun with just my parents. Of course my dad stole the show like every single year with his real pumpkin head. My best costume was from 2017. Didn’t know what to do so I used an old handmade mangle mask from years ago and walked around with it. That costume got me praise, recognition from kids, pictures, and king sized candy bars. Halloween is my favorite and I’ll love it forever
