HOW TO FIX “THE PRINTHEAD APPEARS TO BE MISSING, NOT DETECTED OR INCORRECTLY INSTALLED” ERROR ON HP OFFICEJET PRO 251DW, 8600, 8610, 8620 MODELS
This solution will not solve the problem with the print head for all of you, maybe half of you will have the chance to get the print head working again after following the instructions in the video. But anyway your print head is not working, you have nothing to lose if you try what I show you.

I resolved the issue by simply taking the printer to my local dump. Returned all my Genuine HP Ink back to Staples and purchased a new Brothers Printer for the price of my HP Ink. Pretty much everything is Buy, use, break throw away, and Repeat..

I'm not sur if there is a reason to do anything, but remove the front plate and clean the contacts and spring. Just the two small screws.

All the videos on UA-cam about this error show cleaning the printhead. I bought brand new printhead and cartridges and still get the error. My damn issue is that this HP does not have an easy reset technique. So, I can't tell if the issue is still there or it's just the error that is still in the memory of the printer.

I have two HP 8610 printers. I had one show up with the missing or not detected printhead. I've used it a LOT and could understand if a part was worn out. However, the second is a bit newer and not used as much. It was my son's from his time in college. When he moved out he didn't need it so left it for us to use. I plugged it in to have a working printer and a couple of months later it has the same issue. I'm wondering if this is a fault from an upgrade? I cleaned the printhead and did some reset I found. It worked for a few prints and then failed again. I even bought a new printhead and tried it but it would not detect on either printer. Somethings not right here. :-(
I keep forgetting to call HP to grill them about a possible issue with an update.

Unfortunately this is a HP issue and they know about it. Sometimes this error shows up on a new device and it can not be a faulty printhead issue. Keep calling the service center for further assistance if the device is still in warranty period.

The printer measure the ink resistance. And if it isn’t in the specs then the printer it will spit out this message

This only works 10% of the time, mine was the result of a firmware issue which i spent more time than i should have, its finished....Going to the range with it to have some fun....bought a new Brother J6555DW.... much nicer

Try 000 steel wool to polish the corrosion off the contacts. It works a treat.

I will never buy HP again, greedy woke company. First, I did all of this it didn’t work, however someone mentioned it was intentional and if I unplugged for a while the message would disappear, and so I did. When I turned it back on, I could print the report page quickly before the message appears without any issues, which suggests the printer head works fine, I think HP has built in this common issue and don’t want you to fix it but instead buy a new printer.

I don't like these situations either. I just want to help everyone to save money with my videos. Unfortunately there are situations that no one can solve... Good luck!

@@TonerRefillVideos Not your fault mate, it was worth the try. I can get a similar Canon model for just about 110$ with cheaper costing ink as well. This one is now a piece of junk.

The first two steps removing panels are COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY!!! Look at some other videos and you'll see. Just remove the final two T6 torx screws from either side of the green circuit board, lift out the tiny ribbon cable at the top and then carefully lift the board up and toward the bottom of the printhead (the board is still attached by the large ribbon cable at the bottom). Be careful not to lose the 8 springs. Now you can clean the springs, the 8 contacts on the back of the board, and all of the contacts on the front of the board. To reassemble, first lift the detached end of the small ribbon cable so it is not trapped when you lay the green circuit board back in place (it has hole for 2 pins for alignment) and reinstall the 2 T6 torx screws that you removed. Then reinstall the printhead. Power cycle the printer and hope for the best. You might need to turn off the printer and then disconnect it from the power cord for a few minutes to get the printer to RESET. Good luck!
