I followed your video but also added an extra step. Inside the printer body, where the printhead's 40 copper contact pads (8:29) make electrical contact with the printhead carriage (13:23), lightly sand those contact points as well with emery cloth. (It doesn't have to be a rubber eraser, just make those contacts shine). This resolved my problem of the printer not finding the printhead. Also, you'll need a set of Torx screwdrivers (#T6 and T9 orT10) to remove the printhead screws. Got mine at Walmart in the auto parts section. Better that scrapping the printer.
HP printers have a software way to disable and show this cartridge error. This problem whether intentional or not can be solved by unplugging the printer for hours. Not minutes..... Also do this: Find your printers I.P. address. go to that page in a browser. Click Settings/Preferences/Anonymous Usage Information Storage SET IT TO OFF. Then Preference/HP Cartridge Protection TURN IT OFF.
@smithderf This just happened to mine. I am hoping your idea works with unplugging it. Ironically, this all started happening after I did the alignment and cleaning options located in the settings option.
Come on bruh. U made the same exact video that u posted a year ago, this time with a slightly different technique and U STILL DIDNT PROVE WETHER OR NOT YOUR SOLUTION WORKS! And to top it off u ran 10 ads on a 13min video. Unbelievable, I don’t write comments often but this is truly ridiculous. Did u read any of the comments on the previous video because most of them weren’t too pleasant either. At least u didn’t add that annoying music this time around!
Who_Dat? Yep I actually made a similar attempt to solve the issue as in the video. Didn’t work. So instead of buying a new printhead, I went ahead and switched to a laser jet printer. So I wasted a lot of time and stained my hands for a couple weeks with ink. Not worth it compared to buying a new printer.
ExclaMason What I learned from experience is to never ever buy an HP printer again. This is my 3rd HP printers and something always goes wrong, Unacceptable!
Why aren't you responding to these questions being asked??? It's important information you have left out - not to mention not talking during procedure !!

I have just been through the whole procedures of both videos and, in my case, there was no difference. I did notice in this video that they wiped the printer head. I did the same, returned the head and cartridges to the printer and VOILA, working perfectly.
Great video! My problem is the print head stopped moving to the left...now I cannot get the cartridges out! Bout ready to toss this baby! Any insight? Thanks
Had the same problem... Reach inside and close the latch you pulled up to remove the print head... Didn't work for me, anyway... HP apparently doesn't want their products working after a certain amount of time.
@@menoni75761 The only problem I have is the cartridges are still in the print head...the printhead is locked on the right side...looks like I'll have to remove the top of the printer in order to lift the print head out! I'm deciding if it's worth the effort...tkx
Easy fix to get the print head to the proper position: First, turn off the printer. This will cause the printer head to retract, but it then moves back to the right side position again. Turn it off again and this time be sure to pull the power source (Plug) as soon as it returns to the left position. This stops the printhead in the proper position so you can remove the cartridges out and remove the printhead. After the printhead is removed and IF you plugged it back in to the power source, DO NOT PUSH THE POWER BUTTON to turn it on until the printhead is reinstalled as it could damage your printer.
Same issue, after doing a reset, i got a error saying my yellow cartridge (brand new from HP) is damaged but the problem is the carriage is stuck on the right side even after performing a reboot. No light from the cover. I will have to open the right panel, manually remove the carriage and check the pins over the spring in the ink carriage, that or either the chips. The cartdriges need to clip in the back but maybe the sensoris affected. No clues, online ressources said nothing about this issue.
I tried this on mine, it has gotten rid of the error message. I flushed with alcohol until the alcohol was coming out clear in all sections, as well as cleaning the contacts with an eraser and alcohol. The colors are still running because of the residual alcohol left in the ink wells, but I imagine that will go away over time.
I bought a brand new printhead and cartridges and the error still there. I don't know what to do anymore other than returning everything I just bought.
Thank you for this explanation, but you did not tell us whether the problem was solved or not, as I did what you did, but nothing happened and the problem is still the same and not solved!!!

THE SMALLEST SCREWS WHAT SIZE TORX FOR THE 8610 PRINTER
@@ddrustysum69 I used the T6 for the smallest ones and the T10 for the larger.
I meticulously completed the full procedures of both videos, and it didn't repair the problem. I am glad it worked for some of you.
I think HP has created a software error. I've seen about 20 of these printers on seller platforms in the last couple of weeks saying the same thing.

This is the second video in a row I have seen which does not show whether what they did resolved the problem!
Will be nice to know what liquid you're using water or alcohol?
What this video showed me is I need to buy another printer 🤣

It wouldn’t hurt to try this method if your printer is DOA

One question. Will buying a new printhead fix the “Missing or Failed Printhead” Error?
@@joeinbikes I took a risk and bought one for $170. Works perfectly!
Could've hit the power button to see if this technique worked or not? 🤔
just thinking the same thing. Just sat through 13 minutes plus 2 interruptions and did it actually work? who knows?
Are you using water or rubbing alcohol?
That's the most important info that he should have mentioned it!
distilled water, warm water. alcohol &/or windex will destroy the print head.

So- is that Water or Isopropyl Alcohol ?
du bon vin de ""bordeaux""
thanks for the video. If this still doesnt fix the problem, then what is the alternative ?

What is the Roco thing being rubbed on the metal parts?
an eraser
Its an eraser to clean surface oxidation and oils off the contact surface
But it worked or not? Anyone can do that. Its a clickbait.
