Warno has finally released! What do you think? There are more Army General campaigns than I was expecting, and they seem pretty decent! But will Broken Arrow be better? Aren't we lucky to be getting all of these RTS games!

@@twiglets2I think BA Will be a good game bringing more people to then genre, but I ain't the biggest fan of BAs modern setting and mechanics.
I believe 90% of people will enjoy both, but those nosy haters on both sides is something we unfortunately will have to endure. At least both games in game chats get moderated so the biggest assholes will be removed long term.

I do think that would be cool before 1.0 dropped me and a friend did coop Wargame: Airland Battle campaigns that did have those call in supports and actual decisions that effected stuff outside your battlespace. So its not new to Eugen but I think this is them dipping their toes back into cold war campaigns. (Also was super cool to see the Red Dragon narrator back)

If I’m being honest, I still think that red dragon had better campaigns. This was in large part due to the sheer impact that the strategic decisions could have on each tactical engagement. If you were defending a sector, you had access to all of the command zones at the start of the engagement. It forced attackers to either get creative in attacking from multiple directions, or massing an overwhelming amount of fire before going on the offense.
Another thing I liked about red Dragon was that the arrival of reinforcements and which ones were directly tied to your military successes. Control more Sectors, get more political points, get the best units deployed where you want them at the time you need them.
You even had to juggle things like flight distance for your air support.
I also liked how each campaign offered a different scenario. The campaigns in Warno are all the same Warsaw Pact invasion of Germany in 1989.

Good to see that they seemed to expand on the strategic layer on campaigns. I kinda loved the campaigns and badly wish they were fleshed out more in wargame. The idea that you had to work with whatever battlegroups you had nearby to win fights, or that battles could end up as phyrric victories where you technically routed your opponent but the battle can leave your forces depleted and vulnerable to a counteroffensive. Love the idea of of an rts where your assets aren't just replaceable pawns that stream out of a barracks, and where the difference between a total victory and a minor victory matters.

Nice video, i hope for some multiplayer / deck showcases in the future. WarNo feels like a re-release of wargame airland, but setup to be carved up into a microservice game. I dont feel any innovation from this game as of right now but i am hopeful that the game reaches that RedDragon level of epicness,
BTW how do you cap the flags? at 7:20 is says 10 to owner 1 per turn yet your other flags generate nothing??

    • @mrsupremegascon
      @mrsupremegascon 6 місяців тому +2

Did you really played the game to say that ?
Sorry, as someone with 2.5k accumulated on Wargames and now 500k on Warno, the difference is clear as day and night. There is a massive improvement of various mechanics, graphism improved, deck system changed, there a real solo game, etc....
If it was the same, then WGRD hardcore fan would not hate it so much.
Warno is basically the combined and polished experience of Eugen from Steel Division and Wargame. Worst thing can be said about this game, is that they did some controversial choices.

@@mrsupremegascon What mechanics has been improved? Some have changed, sure. You can put inf in hightower bulidings now, and watch them get obliterated by a tanks at max range. AI controlled Arty because that is what we really needed huh.
Hate is a strong word, I dont hate warno. I expected more from it, not less then what we had. Disappointed by its current state is more appropriate. I hope at least they can give us the nations and units back in the future.
I can read you are frustrate, because you have spent so much time in this game. But you need to stop copeing. This game is less then not more then WGRD. For you any change would be godsent, like a breath of fresh air. Me? I need, at least WGRD level.

Fun fact, the "accurate battlegroups" aren't even accurate, Take the 82nd for example it has many unrealistic flaws, Eugene failed heavily by not taking a majority of their info on the 82nd out of the gulf war, Not to mention they removed the 81MM mortar men........ my dad was a 81 mike mike gunner in the 82nd during the gulf war so I know thats a load of horse shit. not to mention the simply horrendous addition of non-airborne armor to the battlegroup, just buff it by making it ACTUALLY fucking airborne instead of "you get to spawn 10 feet ahead of everyone else"
