      it’s a similar appeal that heterosexual woman and gay men have towards the “bad boy” archetype, it’s the attraction towards a person who is a rebel/ person opposite of society that makes them more desired, whether it is towards romantic or sexual desires, that part depends on the person.

      @@MrAjking808There was a study done by scientist on why people find fictional and animated characters attractive and its because fiction (especially animation) represent the ideal world that we want to live in, and the characters are perfection brought to life. People already create their ideal world in their heads and their ideal love interest and thanks to movies and animation (or any form of art) those fantasies are able to be brought to life. This is not a new thing either and goes way back before movies were invented when people use to draw their fantasies on cave walls, paint pictures, and of course write them in books.
      I mean look up Jessica Rabbit and tell me you don't find fictional characters attractive.

      Like Sarah, he now cannot die.
      As Tim Curry said as another villain, he's "trapped in dimensional limbo".

      As Doug pointed out, it’s pretty obvious when you’re an adult and familiar with Curry’s work as the villain in most of his work, that it’ll be revealed he’s evil.

      Same here! I first watched Witch's Ghost when I was about 8 years old, and though I knew who Tim Curry was by that point & recognized that he was voicing Ben, I just figured I was seeing him play the good guy for once, even finding him & Velma to be a cute couple. So when it was revealed that that actually wasn't the case, I was admittedly bummed at first, but got quickly won over by just how much fun he is when he's evil. When he was reciting the spell to release Sarah from the book, I couldn't stop smiling. 🥰

      IKR ? He's a well-known horror novelist. Why he was interested in taking over the world ? This motivation is usually used by mad scientist, corrupt politicians, and warmongering military officers. Most evil artists are either egotistical hacks or sexual deviants. So his megalomaniacal behavior doesn't make any sense. Also, that will teach him not to team up with a powerful omicidal maniac from the past for his world conquest. Emperor Pilaf would tell him that.

    Late 90s/early 00's Scooby Doo animated movies were the best. They dealt with real antagonists and not people in masks, plus didn't dumb down the audience as the gang actually could get hurt/die but kids could still watch. Also they aged up the gang letting everyone know that these adventures will be more mature.
    So clearly at this point you might as well do Alien Invaders and Cyber Chase. It is your destiny.

    Even with my love of Zombie Island, I was 100% a Witch's Ghost kid. This movie was my absolute SHIT growing up. I remember I would just jam out to the Hex Girls song in my bedroom, and it's still a fucking bop. Plus you can't deny in how well they animate the sequence too. Really I think the preference for Witch's Ghost vs Zombie Island all comes down to personal aesthetics. Do you like the chilling, gruesome horror from Zombie Island? Or do you like the quiet spooky fall town with urban legends and a fun supernatural add on from Witch's Ghost? Witch's Ghost appeals to my tastes a bit more, but both are extremely well made films!

      *OBJECTION!*
      While 95% of the time this turns out to be the case, he's been good guys other than Nigel as well. See: Wadsworth in Clue (depending on the version), The Grand Wizard in The Worst Witch, Matthew Hope in Ritual (generally speaking), that time he played Shakespeare, and most poignant of all: his version of the Beast in Beauty and the Beast: The Tale of the Crimson Flower. Even his later appearance in 2008's Scooby-Doo & the Goblin King doesn't have him as the bad guy; he's initially set up that way at the start, but in actuality, he's a victim to the plans of the film's true villain as much as everyone else is. Hope this helps! 😉🌹

    When I was young I didn't like Scooby Doo very much, but I DID like this and Zombie Island, not only for the better animation but also because the supernatural element being real raised the stakes and made the movies more exciting. I also didn't realize that this was the Hex Girls' genesis, they were so popular I always assumed they were some indy goth band that Hanna Barbara hired to cameo in their movie. Also I'm fairly certain the Wicca has only been recognized as an official religion for roundabouts 50-60 years, it wouldn't have existed in colonial times, though it isn't a stretch for an herbalist or apothecary to be accused of witchcraft by ignorant puritans.

    • @wolfrainexxx
      @wolfrainexxx 2 роки тому

      It also wouldn't be strange to find a Chemist fascinated with Wicca, and Alchemy, and try to convince everyone that it was THE genesis of Chemistry. Also, if you want the ancient form of Chemists that used drugs, and promoted drug use, through manipulating ignorant folks... it was called, "Pharmakeia," or "Sorcery." Witchcraft was women practicing "Sorcery," and actively attempting to change the social order through what we now call, "3rd Wave Feminism." The male form was "Warlock."
      Both were called Witches (male & female), and the actions were called Sorceries (manipulation through hallucinogens.
      Hex Girls were amazing, and they weren't designed to ram a message down the throats of its viewers, which is why it clicked so easily with people; the Wiccan part was her being edgy through use of Chemistry.... she's a Goth Girl afterall. Edgy is kinda her MO.

Anyone can be a wiccan, it's not a thing you can be 1/16th like native american blood quantum. Wicca borrows heavily from several different and sometimes conflicting pagan religions so is usually only chosen for being the more well known of popular pagan religions.

    Ah yes, the Hex Girls. While I'm no rock band enthusiast, I think they left such an impact because they were quite unique. An all-female rock band of only three members (to start at least), gothic vampire theme, and introduced via another cultural icon meant for kids; not to mention some great songs. They might've even been some people's introductions to rock, goth, and even, or especially, Wicca.

    • @wolfrainexxx

      In my opinion;
      All female rock bands weren't unique. Vampire Goth Girls have been around for literal centuries. The reason Hex Girls were so memorable was because of their hilarious method of scaring the gang into thinking they were the villains (Vampires), then not only faking them out, but also having probably the only good music in a kids show that was original; in Anime, it's not unheard of, but in Western Cartoons it was damn near unheard of... it helped the girls were cute, and likeable.

    This is the first time in (canon) standard continuity that Velma has been attracted to someone. There’s a great touch in development for the gang in how they resolve the situation. In Zombie Island they were in a trial by fire for the monsters being real, and the death of the cat monsters was pure luck that the gang survived the celestial window of opportunity that was vital for the monsters. In Witch’s Ghost, they are proactive in defeating Sarah by playing to the rules of the magic, getting Thorne to summon her back into the book. Seeing this develop in the straight to DVD films, the gang becoming more accustomed to and adept in dealing with genuine supernatural phenomena, could have been interesting and a new spin for the franchise to explore. Themes like magic vs science for example. But it wasn’t and while some of the later films did have genuine supernatural elements, the gang didn’t display as much a sense of continuity in regards to their experiences on Moonscar Island and in Oakhaven.
