Wow, I've been watching some tutorials on waves. Yours is by far the BEST one. I've struggled as a new painter with waves. But you sir have taught me where others have failed. Thank you!
Finally a tutorial that gets me 🤣🤣🤣 I’ve seen so many others and this step by step and explanations of why we do what is the best! Thanks! Off I go to paint some waves! Wish me the best 🎨 🚶🏾♀️ 🌊
I am new to painting water and new to acrylics. This video was very informative. I have review it more than once and also took you advice to start on paper/
Thank you very much for this tutorial! I have been watching and practicing waves a lot recently but just cant get a hang of it. This video enlightened me. I think I will see some improvements in my next practice. Very excited for it. Thank you!
I appreciate this tutorial. I have watched a few artists painting waves and I just couldn't follow any of them. I'm new at painting. Your tutorial helped me a lot. I like your approach and your detailed easy to follow instruction. Thank you.
I am so thankful for you and this study! I cannot begin to tell you the total difference you have just made for me! You have completely changed my painting life. I am a beginner. I have been painting for 14 months and decided this new year of 2019 I wanted to advance my skills. You have just helped me! My husband was in the Navy and has been wanting me to paint his ship. I told him I am to amateur and did not know how. I can do it now since I can paint the ocean thanks to you! This is my first video I found of yours. I am now going to search for them all and watch them! You are an amazing teacher and so easy to understand because you explain things so well! Words cannot express my appreciation for you enough!
After looking at your wave 🌊 lesson I've looked back and observed the see pics I've taken It's now given me the technique and I'm able to see that in the pics It's amazing how it suddenly pops out and I can see the waves more clearly Thanks it's been a great help
I've been struggling with waves for months. Your tutorial is the best video I have found on this subject. You are a great teacher, and I am certain I will do a better job than earlier. Thank you so much. Subscribing.
Thank you so so much for this tutorial. Like many people here, I’ve been struggling with painting waves and have been checking many tutorials. This is the exact one I’ve been looking for. So simply and clearly explained, answered all the points I was confused about. Amazing ❤
i do a lot of arts an crafts but never thought a was any good at painting, tried this in january this year an friends an family thought my practise one was great so here i am practising again see if i can get better
That was great, it’s exactly what I was looking for… I can’t understand artists that are painting a scene on high speed, and not explaining anything & call it a tutorial 🤷♀️ thank you for your detailed explanation, now I’m going to do my first stormy scene 🙏🏻👌 T
Thank you!!!! I had a very hard time with the waves on the Lost At Sea painting and several questions...this study has answered all of them. I really enjoy your work!! Love your teaching techniques.
Excellent! Your comment on that video was one of the reasons I made this, in addition to many others who were struggling with the water over the past few months. Its hard to go into this much depth on one specific technique in a tutorial.
Appreciate your video. I'm more abstract, but I like a realistic back ground to work from, I like this 1. Technique will work a lot better for what I do/need. Thank You.
Thank you so much for sharing your techniques....guess I'm a painter who learns more from watching than reading about how to do waves because I've read about so many different "ways" to paint them, and, I've learned MORE from this video than from all I've read. Please keep making the tutorials and "complete picture" videos if you do make them. (This is the first video of yours which I've watched.). Thanks again.
Yes I did! Many people have commented that they were struggling with the water, so I felt it was time to finally put this lesson out there! I will probably make a few other technique specific videos, in addition to my usual tutorials. Glad you enjoy my channel!
I wonder what Bob Ross would have to say about the younger generation and your tutorials. Good stuff! 27:02 squint and you can see monster eyes in the swirl of the shadows
Wow! How beautiful your ocean is. I am on my second time taking this study, my waves look like blue and white ocean haystacks. Help what am I doing wrong and how can I fix it? Thanks for your time.
Sir, thank you so much for sharing ur knowledge.. m following u cz I really like d way you explain... I just wanted to knw more about dagger striper/sword brush.. can u plz share the link... Id searched on Amazon bt its nt exactly d same wch ur using... thank you
Thank you! Glad you liked the video. You can go to my channel to see the rest of my videos. If you go to PainterInYou.com it will take you there as a shortcut.
Actually a good tutorial on sea action. Good job. That front area looks a lot like a cro with it's head sticking up. Nope I'm not getting in that water!
Really love your description of this technique. It would be very helpful if you could use a little bit lighter color against your dark color for making the beginning of the wave. I have a difficult time seeing the dark outline.
I think that the wave in the for-ground is too much... too much white... I must thou thank you for showing those techniques with the brushes... and what brushes you use. You are a good teacher.
I'm not good at this. But I come from the Bay. It's fine to have darker up front, if you're offshore. But next to land, the shallower the greener real ocean water will be. If I were such an expert 😁I wouldn't be here 🌴😇 Thanks for the tutorial John
Dommage que la version française n'existe pas ,je vais essayer de peindre les vagues en bleues foncées,par rapport au ciel marron orange rouille avec le coucher de soleil qui jaune.🇫🇷🗼😱
I had never seen a dagger brush before last week. I was actually looking for tiny brushes for details, was intrigued, so I grabbed a dagger brush to try. I love it. It makes lines and details both so easy.
Wow! That was a Great Video. Though I have watched it for the first time, Im definitely trying it. *A small piece of advice: Pls stop biting your nails.... 😁😁
The sample that you did earlier in your kitchen was perfect. I love it. But the painting that you did as an illustration is not realistic. It does not look like a sea. It's like unmoved mountains covered with strips of cloth. Those white thing are too many.
Wow, I've been watching some tutorials on waves. Yours is by far the BEST one. I've struggled as a new painter with waves. But you sir have taught me where others have failed. Thank you!
I like how you show how to do it
The best on waves. Explicit directions.

The best explanation I've ever watched about painting ocean water. thanks a lot.
Great tutorial, thank you for explaining and describing the technique in such a straightforward manner.
Thank you. I need to know not jist how but why we do things a certain way. You did that.
Excellent tips on mixing , brush strokes and visualization of perspective.
Finally a tutorial that gets me 🤣🤣🤣 I’ve seen so many others and this step by step and explanations of why we do what is the best! Thanks! Off I go to paint some waves! Wish me the best 🎨 🚶🏾♀️ 🌊

I wonder what Bob Ross would have to say about the younger generation and your tutorials. Good stuff! 27:02 squint and you can see monster eyes in the swirl of the shadows
I do see the eyes! :o
Also glad to still be referred to as "the younger generation" 😂😂.
Ill enjoy it while it lasts.

Great help in painting waves. I always get lost in the middle of the painting
Very helpful,thank you.

I did the lost at sea and my waves looked nothing like yours. Thanks for this video. Maybe I will try again😃
Yes practice really does help. Enjoy the process though, it's just as interesting as finally getting it to where you want it.

To get a perfect horizon, I use a knife and scrape on a roll of white following the texture of my canvass. Weird discovery (I use oil)

wao
GREAT
I think that the wave in the for-ground is too much... too much white... I must thou thank you for showing those techniques with the brushes... and what brushes you use. You are a good teacher.
Do you think a Deep Yellow or Raw Sienna would be closer in color to the Yellow Ochre? I’d really like to try this out!
Definitely the yellow. Should work fine. :)
Thank you so much
Wow
good one, thank you!
You said you covered the paint, what did you cover it with? A bowl? I am new to painting and I noticed after a while my paints were dried up.
I'm not good at this. But I come from the Bay. It's fine to have darker up front, if you're offshore. But next to land, the shallower the greener real ocean water will be.
If I were such an expert 😁I wouldn't be here 🌴😇

You don't use any water???
That 'dagger' brush looks like an angled brush.
I had never seen a dagger brush before last week. I was actually looking for tiny brushes for details, was intrigued, so I grabbed a dagger brush to try. I love it. It makes lines and details both so easy.
👍👏
Wow! That was a Great Video. Though I have watched it for the first time, Im definitely trying it.
*A small piece of advice: Pls stop biting your nails.... 😁😁
11:10 Bob Ross does that. Doesn't help me
Hey Chris
The sample that you did earlier in your kitchen was perfect. I love it. But the painting that you did as an illustration is not realistic. It does not look like a sea. It's like unmoved mountains covered with strips of cloth. Those white thing are too many.
Ok, then make us a video showing us the way you do it...
You are better then the other guy that did this he went too fast
bonito resultado, lo feo: es que habla demasiado.
Desmond, do you want to paint or manicure, not nice
I prefer not to be able to paint ocean water - than watching this.
Ok. Then don't watch it. 🤷♂️
Thank you so much
