So I'm sitting here painting a picture of waves and struggling... so I go on UA-cam to get some ideas and WHAT DO YOU KNOW! You are painting the EXACT same picture as me! I'm 100% sure we are using the same reference photo..... yours is so much better than mine though....

I'm 65 and my curiosity about painting was sparked by a painting I had seen.
I have been working on a painting with mountains in the background a body of water which to was just too bland I couldn’t wrap my head around what was not working for me.
I knew there was something wrong, yesterday I painted over the island along with the trees in the little house, and covered it white paint and decided to paint the sea water bland I couldn’t wrap my head around. I knew there was something wrong yesterday I took the whole island off along with the trees in the little house, and we painted that white and decided to just paint athe seawen I can across this tutorial and while I am totally and oddly intimidated, I am going to give this a try is the best explanation I have seen I don’t know what’s gonna come out but I know I’m gonna give it a go. Thank you for the time spent in for how well you explained everything and calmly you didn’t rush through. I appreciate you for that, fingers crossed if I do a quarter of the job that you did I'll be thrilled?.

Thank you for this! A friend of mine paid me to paint a seascape six months ago; the hardest part has not been the ship or sky, but the waves. I have painted my ocean four times--last night was the fourth time going back and just readding the base colors in order to start new again. With these four steps you have created and your explanation, I feel I can successfully go back and finish.

Hi, I've never watched such an instructive tutorial before and I would like to thank you for it. I've only been painting for 9 months and had no training at all. But I have been getting quite a bit of feedback from a local artist who is kind enough to. He said I'm doing really well but that on every painting I've done the water work lets me down. So I've spent 2 days now finding tutorials that will help me improve my self. I found yours and I'm ecstatic as this is just what I'm looking for . Thank you for sharing Sheila 💙

What a great tutorial! There are points in the process I 'lost' the picture and it looked rubbish. Then it came back again with a new addition and some more detail. Then it went again and I lost heart. But I took my time and persevered and the result was actually fabulous. It's now framed and on my partner's wall. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and skill.

This was a great tutorial which gave space for the student to develop skills. No you didn’t go through every single stage which would possibly be hard if this was you first time with acrylic. However I am trying to improve and find my own way so I liked your tutorial style which left me to work out how to mix some colours or when to start glazing etc. I really felt that I was starting to get the hang of painting a sea and can use this help in painting something from scratch. Thank you.

Your paint puddles on the palette look as though they are staying wet. How do you keep them usable throughout the entire process? Mine dry up when not used within a short period of time. Are you using an additive or paints that remain open?
