You *are* able to use effects of cards from your hand and/or inventory to alter the default cost of actions with red locks. Also, "and/or" on the bow means you can use both effects if you want. So when first hunting with the bow from the hole, you could have drawn zero cards (instead of two) and still succeed.
That’s a great point! I knew that rule.... but must have totally forgotten to apply it in that instance... 🙄 Da heck is wrong with me?!? But I really appreciate you letting me know, and I’ll annotate that asap. (An hour later...) Oh wait! You’re saying that even with the lock I could draw FEWER cards. I had to go back and compare what you were saying with the rulebook... and you are, as you know, 100% right! If the lock is there you can’t do that team-up thing or ADD new cards, but the items still can have their effect.... I REALLY appreciate you bringing that up! That is honestly something I missed.... I’ll go back and attempt to annotate each instance of that tomorrow - because I misinterpreted that rule for sure. Major thanks again Chris!
I’ve gone ahead and added that annotation. I probably still would have drawn (in that case) to try and get more stars.... but in the second video there are times when I wouldn’t have. Thanks again for pointing that out!
If you do another scenario (please record it, but don't forget about Gloomhaven )I recommend playing with 2 characters. I think its a bit more fun and you have more interesting decisions to make. You can potentially separate your characters, you can do actions together with the ability to draw less cards to add successes. Also with 2 characters you can split the loot if you do the action together, so there are reasons to keep the characters together too!!
Yeah, you’re right. My plan is to finish this scenario solo, then do the Voracious Goddess with two. I just wanted to make sure I have the system and rules down pat before playing two characters. And yes, without a doubt, this is happening and will be recorded.
If I recall it right, you can only combine items when you get them - so you might have many item dice right now but remember to prepare for the future also! With those two crab meats, you wouldn't lose anything by combining them.
Noisem: disgusting, offensive, or harmful, often in its smell. Pronounced NOYZum. I didn't even try to succeed at that spider bite. Didn't want to spend more cards, but after thinking, I maybe should have kept it. It's a benign card. You handled the hunting correctly (and pincers is correct, it's not pinchers), but forgot to replace the 006 terrain card after hunting (bottom line of the permanent card). Great run through.
Well hey, thanks! I really appreciate constructive the help and feedback. :-) I am a math guy - words are certainly not my strength! But I’m always willing to learn new stuff. I am so angry with my job right now... how dare they have expectations for me right now! I wanna get this back to the table and keep going to see what times next!
That is good to know. I guess their bragging rights about a quick save makes sense - as I said in the video, I’d MUCH rather a quick resume, but wasn’t sure if there was some game-centric reason for sorting on the resume....
When you drew the State card Poison you discarded 2 Action cards. You should only discard 1 card because you do not count the Poison card you just drew as it is not in your hand yet.
At the 32 min 25 sec mark, all of a sudden you have a new exploration tile in the spot where the crystal exploration tile use to be--the one you successfully explored. Shouldn't you have place the number 163 adventure tile there instead? In other words, why did you replace the successfully explore crystal tile with a regular exploration tile?
At 29:32 that was the instructions of the crystal exploration tile, at least that’s how I interpreted it. It said to banish that crystal tile, then to replace it with a normal exploration tile.
Thanks man! I really really appreciate that. And you’re ALWAYS welcome to point out mistakes. I’ll always check them out and chances are you’ll be right! I just got lucky this time. AND, check back in! I’d love to hear how your run goes! I’m 2 minutes away from recording part 2....
At the time this was not available.... they sent out the base box first, which did not include this curse. BUT, they (the publisher) also said this was the “introductory curse”... so it’s the curse designed to help you learn the game, and it wasn’t printed yet.... BUT, it is printed and available now.
I guess I’m confused.... to play this curse you also had to (at the time) print other cards specific to that curse (the crystal cards)... so I printed and assembled all of those cards together. So why wouldn’t I use it? Especially if I’m trying to teach the game, I think using a different curse card while doing that specific curse would only add confusion.
@@TomTeachesGames now I‘m confused. The only sense of this card is to have a fifth curse card besides the 4 general curse card, right? The only difference is, that this curse card has the symbol with the Chrystal Song on the Front side but this has no effect on the game. And you were struggling with the fact that this printed card is the only one in your action deck. Understood?! :-)
I was supper disappointed in my Player Mat as well, with the way it was folded it has creases that will probably never go away, might be able to IRON it?? haha not sure.
Yeah, I’m not sure either... I think there are some bgg forums about the issue. Honestly, for me, it’s not a super huge issue. It’s not the greatest thing in the world. But I’m loving this wave of neoprene (?) mats.... and it’s way better than my fugly table cloth.
I laid my Mat on the table and placed the main box, the Expansion box and a couple of other hefty game boxes like Gloomhaven on it for a couple of days and the creases flattened out, you could also put a cloth on it and iron it at low heat first
I recently discovered this channel, and I love the way you explain/play! Keep this going please XD
Well welcome to the channel! I hope you find some good stuff :-D

You can combine your crab meat into one item with 2 uses, since they have the same keyword
That’s a great point! I didn’t quite think of that because I had so many item dice left.... but I really should keep that in mind in the future.

The past is sorted as part of resume to keep saving the game quick. You can do it at either save or resume as far as I can tell.

@@TomTeachesGames no I meant the curse card of one of the other curses. Their is no need to take the curse card of ‚The Chrystal´s song‘
... because it‘s just the fifth curse card

Ive kept my mat rolled for a year almost now, and it is still folded from that dumb box.
Yeah, that was a bad bad bad plan on their part.
