30 year RamX 15 owner here. Your canoe seems to be in good shape - the redder they are, the less time they’ve been left out in the sun. Simple mods: you can attach a small trolling motor by making or buying a side motor mount - with lithium ion batteries you can motor about for hours with a 25 lb. Battery. You can also put a low beach chair ahead of the middle thwart - just put it on a rubber pad so it doesn’t move. Enjoy!
Heck yes I’m from Oklahoma and I was working up in wolf point Montana and baught the same canoe for $200. Joe was my inspiration to buy it, he is an awesome guy. If he didn’t live so far away I’d drive just to meet him.
These canoes are so durable and just great! The season of alone he was on was filmed on Vancouver island where I am too. And his content is just so great! #youtubegoals
Sit in it backwards if you're soloing it. I load up my 17ft and solo it exclusively. Sitting backwards in the front seat puts you more into the middle and is a lot more stable.
My buddy has one with the same pushed up seat issue. We had a huge snowfall one year, and it bent the bottom rail with it stored bottom up. It’s the canoe he stashes way out in the area we fish, so we don’t have to do the 6 hour portage every time. Pretty much indestructible, and not out a lot of coin if some a-hole steals it. Lol If they want to do the amount of work to get it out of there, then they deserve it.
Remember that one time you tried to convince me a canoe was a kayak? You had a little English slip up there and it brought me back. I'm always down for a canoe, so let me know! Proud of you and happy canoeing!🛶
30 year owner here. I wouldn’t recommend standing in it. Also there is only flotation in the front and rear, so it will sink down if it gets filled with water enough so that it becomes impossible to paddle. If you know your self rescue skills, though, you should be ok. Wear a PFD.
@@JohnHartman22 I got my paddles from MEC here in Canada, and my PFDs from a local supplier and a couple used ones that were being sold locally. buying used gear can save so much money!
Congrats on buying the heaviest, ugliest canoe made. l've had one for 20+ years & it's 35+ years old. Them scows are damn near indestructable & easy to repair if do manage to rub a hole through it. Can be plastic welded or a piece of flex seal tape will keep you on the water. $200 well spent. 👍 cheers

Just got a 20 year old Coleman Ram-X 15 recently. Glad to see Coleman made great boats!

Just bought my 17 ft. big orange Coleman canoe today!

That’s what I’d do when soloing. Took a bit of getting used to as I didn’t have much experience!

I'm pretty sure that in England a canoe is a Canadian kayak!
great Canoe I have one, bought it 25 years ago. heavy as hell, but takes a beating.
It is indeed a beast! I struggle with it alone especially after a trip!
Just got a 17 foot for 50 nothing wrong with it to so happy
can't wait to see it out on the water!!
Say tuned for my next video! Spoilers, it might but just what you said!
Also! I think you should name her Ruby, because she's red and she's your gemstone.😁
You'll have to watch the next video to find out what her name is....
Looking at buying one of these for fishing are these stable enough to stand in?
I think if its calm enough and you're moving slow and steady you might be ok. I wouldn't bet money on it though....

I just bought one today for $100
Absolute bargain! What kind of shape is it in?
@@AeetosOutdoors Not bad really, some scratches but not too deep and no holes.
@@JohnHartman22 have you taken her out on the water yet?
@@AeetosOutdoors no, I need oars and floaties, lol

It is a beast but it does the job. Its decent for solo and I'll have loads of room but it is HEAVY!
