    Of all the OEM 7th generation Civic fog light installs here on UA-cam, this one is clearly one of the best and follows closest to the factory setup! I get taking the easy way out, but it’s also the laziest way with exposed wiring, using the 12v power outlet, tapping into other accessories, etc. This may take longer and be more involved, take more time and work, but clearly more professional with much cleaner results and most importantly, not risking damage to the electrical system or compromising other components due to amateurish ‘quickie’ jobs for the sake of immediate results. Great job!

    I have the hybrid version Civic 7th Gen, to do this install you have to install the harness exactly opposite of the regular 7th gens due to the battery being on the opposite side.

    Is the one brown connector the hot side of the fog light relay ?

    It's come to my attention that there is some deviation from the model of EM2 (01-03) than the model I have (04-05). After looking into it more, there are some differences from bumper style, center console, Harness A placement, Harness C style and not opening the steering column differentiate from the 04-05 model. Other than those differences they're the same process in which you can take some information from this how-to like plugs and placements, for those differences I included the PDF file of how to install them on the 01-03 model in the description. I hope this clears out any confusion and helps somebody out! If you have any questions just leave a comment below and I'll try to help out in the best of my abilities!
    EDIT: PDF link is dead with Handa-accessories which held the pdf is gone, sorry guys. But as I stated from the differences, you can still do it with this guide! I believe in you resourcesful DIY'ing peeps!

      ah so the switch is OEM but the harness isn't? You might have to repin the harness you've bought to the switch itself. On the fog light housing.. at 3:38.. do they just snap in into the bumper? Cause my fog lights look a little tight to squeeze them in. What am I missing here?

    • @PaycoTsunami

      They don't technically snap into place, they just slide into the housing of the bumper. If its a right fit just make the hole bigger where the end of the fog light housing goes into!

      Hey no problem, hope it helped! I actually played the waiting game by registering online to my local pick-n-pulls through ROW52(website, just check it out!) in Cali by getting notifications in my emails if any EM2 came in. They usually post a frontal picture of the car when it first comes in, with that in mind I just waited every morning for a couple of months till one showed up with fog lights. I went straight over there and beat like 2 people to them! It was pretty wild and I probably should've done a video on it but that's how I came up with these and paid only $30 for them! I've also seen some sets on ebay once in awhile but I feel like they're outrageously priced. If I were you I'd just go junkyard hunting locally, you might end up finding more than just fog lights!

    • @CrimsonSWGoH
      @CrimsonSWGoH 5 років тому

      Thank you for the information. Upon doing some research, Amazon has a set of lights with the 3 harnesses for $104. The harnesses look ok but i think they are used for turning on and off with button instead of being wired into headlights so you can turn them on without headlights. Thanks again, VA and CA seem to be picky about everything in the auto industry ;)

  • @AlphaMachina
    @AlphaMachina 4 роки тому +2

    I did this job without pulling apart 80% of what he did in this video. Just not needed if you're clever about how you do it. I also didn't take my bumper off of the car, I just jacked it up and did everything from underneath (need to replace my splash guard under the car). My kit wasn't nearly this complicated for some reason. It literally just goes through the fender to a switch on my console. I didn't have to mess with any of my original wiring other than to place a ground and power from ignition (cigarette lighter is a good place to splice into) When I want foglights on, I simply press the button, but unlike his, my foglights only come on when my ignition is turned to the 3rd setting. Basically, I spliced the brown ignition plug into my cigarette lighter wires because that only supplies power when the car is turned on, because it has an ignition feed, unlike the plug under the dash in the relay/fuse box. That feed is an "always on" feed, unless you do like this video and go the complicated route of hooking it up through your headlights. I guess I just used a cheap wiring kit, but it worked out great.
    This guy had the same idea I did: ua-cam.com/video/nSNxwjP6olM/v-deo.html

    • @PaycoTsunami
      @PaycoTsunami  4 роки тому +1

      This is the OEM kit from Honda which is pretty rare but it shows all specific spots you're supposed to pull *except the radio lol* I pulled out alot so it'd be easier to shoot the video and show everyone visually like removing the fender/lights. I'm assuming you grabbed a aftermarket one which is alot less complicated?

    • @AlphaMachina
      @AlphaMachina 4 роки тому

      @@PaycoTsunami Makes sense. Your work was definitely a lot more complicated, but still a more professional job than mine. I was weary about it at first, but after a few months and no issues, using the cigarette wires seemed like the trick. I got a smoked fog light kit from eBay for $30. Not the best quality, but they look nice, and came with a cheap "simplified" wiring harness. Your job is a lot nicer than mine, but let me ask, is your fog light switch still not lighting up? Because mine lit up as soon as I hooked it up to the cigarette lighter wires and turned on the ignition. I see people either with the lights on the switch not working at all and their fog lights do work, or with the light on the switch working but their fog lights stay on all of the time despite the switch. It's weird. They must be doing something wrong.

    • @PaycoTsunami
      @PaycoTsunami  4 роки тому

      @@AlphaMachina hey fog lights are foglights am I right? Haha I think as long as your lights work, it's a job well done in my opinion. Actually when I hooked everything up, the bulb in the foglight switch and one of the bulbs in the foglight housing was out. I was surprised initially lol but I replaced both and it's working flawlessly now. Always check the bulbs for sure before ripping into it again but they're probably having grounding issues like you stated or relay probelms

    • @AlphaMachina
      @AlphaMachina 4 роки тому

      @@PaycoTsunami Ahhh, cool. Yeah, as long as they work, it's all good. I was looking at this video because I got an OEM kit and was thinking I might install it instead, just to have peace of mind that my car won't burn down (lmfao), but after seeing how complicated it is, I think I'll be alright. No issues so far. Take care man.

    Can you install the harness from the driver side?? There are some empty switch bays to the left of the steering wheel. I really don't want to remove the radioo and center console....

    • @PaycoTsunami
      @PaycoTsunami  5 років тому +1

      YO! So you can definitely do whichever you want! Whatever's easier for you, you can go for it! The way I did it was from the manual from Honda, I ended up making a mistake on removing the radio to install everything but it definitely made it easier through the process. I believe you have to remove the center console though. That's a must since you need to get the harness for the switch behind it! But again, you don't have to remove the radio/Bezel to install this. If you find a way that's easier through your process be sure reply on here for other peeps to see! This is a pretty popular video as of late and I hope its helped you so far through your install!

    • @PaycoTsunami
      @PaycoTsunami  5 років тому +1

      Oh btw I believe there's also another spot on the driver side you can sneak the harness's in but the actual grommet fits on the passenger side. If you have an after market kit, I'm pretty positive you can snake it though a hole on the driver side.

      I actually went treasure hunting at the local junkyard in Cali, I used picknpulls search engine to find a car with fog lights since they're OEM! Best bet is to do the same or keep a saved search on ebay but you're going to end up paying around $300 for them. I ended up getting all my fogs and harnesses for around $30 at the local junkyard, but you can also get the aftermarket ones at the same price on amazon, only issue is that they're all different is some type of way. The aftermarket ones will work but you'll need to rewire the switch since the one they give you doesn't really fit all to well in the car. You can snag the switch on amazon for around $20 last time I checked!

I have a different bumper and cutting the holes for the fog lights is alot more involved I ended up using a reciprocating saw. Also the bolts on the side of the bumper are 10mm not 8mm like yours. Also you don't need to rip apart your dash and steering column like that it's unnecessary and creates more work for yourself and chances to break things...

      personally looked to for help weren't thorough enough and hard to
      follow. So I wanted to offer an in-depth tutorial from my perspective in
      what I thought would be better because I'm more hands on/visual. I'm
      not saying you're wrong and I definitely appreciate the feedback because
      I'm definitely trying to improve but I'll add an annotation to the
      video including a link 01-03 pdf file in the description below to help
      anyone else out. I'll also add some notation wherever the video deviates
      from 04-05! Again thank you for the feedback!

      @@PaycoTsunami it's nowhere near the same process like I said you don't need to run the wires through the passenger side and removes all the trim panels/ radio. You practically gutted the interior of this car for no reason lol. It's tons of unnecessary work. It literally makes no sense why you took all that apart. You could just run the wire on the drivers side like I did. Besides that there's still alot of differences between the 01-03 and 04-05 they're completely different. The entire front end is different and most of the parts aren't interchangeable. But my whole point is changing the title and description of your tutorial would save people alot of time and help from misleading people. I think you made a good quality video but it's misleading.
