Both sets sound great! If i was to play more clean/mid gain stuff I would go for vintage. Hot set definitely for high gain stuff. Waiting my hot set to arrive, cannot wait!
I tend to agree and for that reason I am going with the Vintage set as I play more clean to crunch than heavy gain and like the slightly brighter, chimier sound of the Vintages.
Thank you for the the unprocessed tone so we can actually hear the difference. We need to take a step back from the distortion pedals for a minute and get ourselves together.
Hi Boy Aditya! This is Kevin from Seymour Duncan. Thank you for the kind words man! I really appreciate it, and am glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks again!
The Vintage are some of they most underrated pickups of all time! I can't belive I got a bridge Vintage soapbar for under half the price of an Antiquity (which just isn't for me) all because the hipsters want all the weaker pickups and all the "transparent" / weak overdrives (and i dont even play metal - I play blues). THANK YOU HIPSTERS ! You scored me an absolute bargain on my SD Vintage pickup 👌🏻 - well done 👏 please carry on!
I bought the Seymour Duncan Vintage set for a Les Paul and swapped the pots with Bourns and vintage paper in oil caps and it just sounds awesome. Just roll the volume down a hair for some sweet blues sounds or full on for rock.
Great demo. Dear SD people, please make a quick video or at least some sounds of the “LIVEWIRE II™ CLASSIC HB - BRIDGE L-CH2B”. I think I like what you wrote about the pickup, but I think all of us trying to decide need some sound samples please.
That epiphone looks fantastic, I thought it was a Gibson at first, could be the fact that p-90’s make everything look nice. Nothing against epiphone, I’ve played a lot of fantastic epi’s
The clean tone portion of this demo was good and useful to hear the fundamental tones of these pickup sets in each selector position. The overdriven and distorted sections although well-done allow me to tell comparatively very little about the tones of the pickups and pickup sets. Thanks.
Kevin really conjured some Tom Scholz in the last 10-20 seconds. Add a touch of chorus and tweak EQ a bit and voila! I love the fact that we get to hear an Epiphone and not a Gibson. See? You can have a great tone without maxing out your credit card. Great job! Great playing!
I kinda dig the vintage. I have HB equipped guitars for when I need that thang. The hots are definitely killer when pushing a tube amp from the bridge.
I find P90s are a great midway between single coils and humbuckers. They have the power and fullness of a humbucker and the snap of a single coil. I prefer to use them in the necks of some guitars, like my Yamaha Pacifica which name with a Vintage P90 neck and a Custom 5 bridge. If you want a neck tone that works very well for John McLaughlin speed runs the VP90 is your pickup. The Hot P90 is harder to work with in the neck, but works great in the bridge. Gets a nasty, snappy growl.
My guitar has 3 Wilkinson Stacked Ceramic P90's they are actually really good, but I said I would love to upgrade them, the bridge the tech said is 15.12 , the Middle is 9.16 and Neck 9.06 , I wonder if I kept the the hot bridge and just replace the Middle and Neck with Seymour Duncan P90'S stacked would it work, it's a great guitar made by Vintage designed by Trevor Wilkinson, I have no intentions of selling it , this is a keeper, you don't see many Strat Style guitars with 3 stacked P90's , I am also changing the pots and switches,
I have question I purchased Vintage guitar designed by Trevor Wilkinson it has 3 P90'S Stacked, I got it pretty much brand new for about 80% of the retail price , insane guitar , could mix and match the P90'S , keep the bridge stock and the rest for example SM Vintage ?
I have a Seymour Duncan Hot P90 (bridge) / Vintage P90 (neck) in my Halo Custom Tele, specs down below. The combo is raw, rude and yet this combo a very versatile tone. Jazz, Blues, Country, and of course Rock 'n Roll (not metal). I recommend them to anyone who like P90s in general. Carbon Fiber Reinforcement Rods Bolt on neck Thin D neck profile Salvus body shape Tele style headstock Locking Tuning Keys 25.5 scale length 22 jumbo frets (stainless steel) Bone Nut 3 - piece Laminated Maple neck Maple Fretboard Flame Maple Cap Black Limba body Hipshot fixed bridge Seymour Duncan Hot P90 / Seymour Duncan Vintage P90
Vintage all the way - the hipsters have inflated the price of the Antiquity and the lovey starbucks sipping angels have only gone and devalued the Vintage which is just hilarious and great for my pocket 😂 - gota love the hipsters, forever inflating the price of some random item and making the real "best" item cheaper while for the "real" enthusiasts.
Make sure your guitar is properly shielded, also the position of your guitar matters. These pickups are not too noisy, but that also depends on the gain settings you're using.
I love them..when u need raw” NASTINESS “ accept no substitute...that’s why I’ve became an SD snob over the years...they just keep getting it right. I used to play DiMarzio religiously but I got no option for all the tones I liked and way less versatility with what was available...Gibson basically screwed the pooch for ever. Fender is good but they seem to be to conservative in there pickups builds if that makes any sense..✌️🇺🇸🎸🎼🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Hi Felipe Souza! This is Kevin from Seymour Duncan. The Epiphone I used in this video is outfitted with 250k pots. Thanks for the question and comment Felipe!
@@kevinharveyguitar 250k pots make difference in comparing with 500k - lowering resonance peaks. Gibson is often using 300k pots on Volumes, but always linear tapers. I prefer 500k audio tapers on Neck for more open sound and 300k audio tapers on bridge to reduce nasal resonance peak and bright string signal from bridge position of pickup. Tones are 500k audio tpers on all Gibsons. I prefer No-Load 500k audio tapers, just wider range.
This is supposed to be about the pickups, not the player auditioning for Glee. Don't make a face like you're channeling your inner Ron Jeremy. And lay off the gain please, I'd like to hear the pickups. Do you guys know the Prymaxe series of videos? The player doesn't show his face. It's all about the gear.

I must say, I do like the Vintage set better. They really sound amazing.
Better than what?
anthony silva Better than the P90 “Hot” .
I love the clarity of the Vintage.
Amazing cleans! Honestly, those are some of the creamiest sounding '90s I've ever heard!
I have the Vintage P-90 Neck pickup. It has a unique tonal character that I haven't seen in other pickups. Definitely my favorite.
Vintage are way less muddy, more distinct.
Thank you for the the unprocessed tone so we can actually hear the difference. We need to take a step back from the distortion pedals for a minute and get ourselves together.
Hot bridge and Vintage neck...everybody wins!
the hot neck is actually overwhelming sometimes
Exactly.
Great playing as usual! They both sound good like all Duncans. I prefer the Vintage over the Hot, but I wouldn't kick the Hot out of bed either.
You guys should "reboot" all of the pickups videos and makes new with him
Hi Boy Aditya! This is Kevin from Seymour Duncan. Thank you for the kind words man! I really appreciate it, and am glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks again!
I really wanted to like the hot set more but that vintage had really great mid range bite to em

P90 Vintage just sounds cleaner to me-better for "the mix"
Those faces were hilarious.Talented dude, good guitarist and funny comedian.👏👏👏😩
Exceptional guitar face!
I think guitar faces indicate poor self awareness / control -- potentially mild retardation
Both sound great, but if I had to choose, I would go vintage. But then again......oh hell. Just get both!!!
This poor man has the look of someone suffering from IBS while playing guitar. LOLOL All joking aside great comparison.
another winner. thanks Seymour!
Vintage neck & Hot bridge
I bought the Seymour Duncan Vintage set for a Les Paul and swapped the pots with Bourns and vintage paper in oil caps and it just sounds awesome. Just roll the volume down a hair for some sweet blues sounds or full on for rock.
I love a guitar with p90's...I'm installing Phat Cats on my Bluesbird the minute I get it!
I LOVE the Vintage!!!!!
Kickass demo, man You always deliver.
Cheers
That face is the only review I need lol looks like he’s having a good time
Very well-presented video and the pickups sound great!
Awesome glad you liked the video!

The Vintage set have greater clarity and a more organic and natural sound. The Hot P90's sound like they're trying to emulate humbuckers.
Exellent Vid ,Very well presented....Great job.
That epiphone looks fantastic, I thought it was a Gibson at first, could be the fact that p-90’s make everything look nice. Nothing against epiphone, I’ve played a lot of fantastic epi’s
Well, he’s sure got the John Mayer face down.
Shred on my g! I’m really digging that Blues riff🔥🔥🔥
what a beautiful epiphone, great sd sound
this kid's an amazing player.

GD..Those Sound Great Kevin!! Always spot on my friend..
Thanks Rex, I really appreciate it brother. Thank you!
Looking for this sound for a Country band I am playing lead guitar in!
I'd love to see an AB of both the hot and vintage set against the P90's in the Yamaha Revstar rs502t
P90 V.... Might be the Gibson Las Paul I need to buy . Troy Frost troyster 😎Cool Riffs

Are Seymour Duncan vintage P90 better than stock Gibson's p90? What is the difference between the two?
What value are the pots and caps in that guitar?
Tony iommi usava dei P90 particolari, qualcosa di uguale facile da reperire?
Are both these sets hum canceling?
They both sound great, but I would go with the hot exclusively so I could try to pretend that I sound like Mike Ness.

can you SD folks explain what he is using to keep hum under control?....Love the sound
p90s are already a muddy pickup- unless you never play clean, I just couldn't get a "hot" p90
Hot bridge sounds better than vintage, but vintage neck is better than hot.
Can i play this kind of pick up with metal ?
Worked for Tony Iommi!
How come at the end for the crunchy comparison the pickups seem reversed? The vintage sounded hotter/more distortion?

In terms of volume and tone control on both the guitar and the amp, are we safe in assuming that everything’s run at 12 o’clock high?
The P90. best pickups ever. Distorted it’s a humbucker and clean it’s a single coil.
Very good cover as always!!! But i have i question: is hotter the strat lil '59 or the hot P90?
P90 is hotter than 59.
Vintage is better !
The faces the dude makes!! SOB needs to relax!!
Hotter, so is it noisier?
They're both true single coil so have your guitar shielded, that helps
Would the vintage p90 be different then the p90 in a Gibson custom shop 56 reissue?

For me the p90 wins... In fact i am making one strat with p90 antiquity in neck and a seth lover with cover in bridge...
Good demo - but please focus on the hands only in future.
Both sound amazing and not a great difference between them in my opinion. Would be equally happy with either 🤘
Can't wait to play my sg with the sad bridge
Next time compare the Vintage set to the Antiquities please!

Vintage set for me please!
Thanks for your support, Brian! 🤘
what would you guys recommend to lower the 60 cycle hum when playing high gain? a noise gate pedal? Thanks
Make sure your guitar is properly shielded, also the position of your guitar matters. These pickups are not too noisy, but that also depends on the gain settings you're using.
@@Ausf.D.A.K. hey thanks
I found the vintage p90s muddy, and lifeless in this video

Dude's extreme facials are way distracting.
S Duncan company cannot find 1 guitar player who does NOT make goofy faces while he plays mindless riffs? Get smart...

I think the hot bridge is too hot. The vintage made some sweet sounds.
