Jared James Nichols burst onto the scene as a throwback to the P90 playing power trio titans of the 70s. To deliver his signature sound, he needed a P90 that was voiced with limitless range that could cover everything from sparkling cleans to barking dirty tones. In his own words, he needed something “delicate and strong, like a grizzly bear and a paper airplane landing.”
After years on the road playing different venues coast to coast and abroad, he’s encountered a variety of unique hum inducing sources. Having a pickup that could retain the quintessential tone and appearance of the classic P90 pickup without hum was a must. The JJN P90 Silencer was custom voiced specifically to Jared’s unique tone without the hum. The pickups are drop-in replacements for any standard P90 route.
“Simply put, the Seymour Duncan Jared James Nichols P90 Silencer is my dream pickup.”
P90 Silencer™
P90’s have always been somewhat of an insider’s pickup. Those in the know recognized the P90 as the bridge between single coil and humbucker tones. With the bright and articulate treble tones you’d expect from a single coil and, due to their shape, also the warmer rounded tone that gets close to what you want from a humbucker. But, because P90’s are single coils, they also bring the noise. The innovative noiseless design of our Vintage P90 Silencer™ retains all the tone and appearance of the classic P90 pickup without the 60-cycle hum.

That JJN P90 silencer slaps hard!!!!!
May have to give another look at JJN's signature with the P90 Silencer. Tried a Gold Glory, but the P90 noise drove me crazy.
I was in the same situation, but in the end I scratched my pocket and took the blues power. It's a great guitar in every way, at first it's hard to understand how the p90 works but then you see all the nuances and tones, it has a great resonance that surprised me
They do all sound like they have that top end sparkle and p90 character. I have a DiMarzio Fantom p90 in the bridge of a guitar right now. It sounds great overall, is much quieter than a standard p90, and definitely has that single coil character and feel, but I wouldn’t mind a little more treble. Maybe one of these would work even better.
I put the JJN silencer in my Gibson Les Paul special, it sounds way better, more articulate, miss cut through nicely, way less boomy bass end, and I didn’t change my equipment setting at all
A comparison to a p90 would be more helpful
If I’ve got mini humbuckers in my Les Paul now, would I have to change pots and/or capacitors to install Silencers..
No, you are good to go with either the 250k or 500k pots that you have in your Les Paul.
Cảm ơn bạn đã chia sẻ chơi ghi ta rất hay đồng hành cùng mình nhé bạn 👍và đầy đủ haha😅😅😅❤❤❤❤
Is the Hot P90 Silencer exactly same size as the standard P90?
Yes, it's the same size as your standard P90. Available in soapbar or dog ear.
Im a big fan of hum cancelling p90s. I dont expect a perfect p90 classic sound. Its just a different thing, not a regular humbucker, not a mini humbucker, not a p90, its their own thingy.
Yea i just bought a new 40 watt DSL Marshall Combo and its awsome but as soon as i pluged in my Les Paul Jr
the Hum was intolerable, so i ordered a Hot P-90 Silencer, hum is gone now.
What is that guitar?
Why are they Ceramic instead of Alnico?
@@servethesongs Oh I’m just wondering. There are lots of good Ceramic pickups. Gibson makes both of their noise cancelling p-90’s with Alnico 5’s and usually p-90’s come with those.
@@servethesongscome one, EVH said many times that pickup came from a Gibson guitar.
Clarity and note separation and because JJN wanted it that way…..
@@Javier-qk7ms fm on old Gibson at that. The PAF
Are they wax potted? I can't find the answer.
Yes, they are.
I don’t notice much hum with my Phat Cats. By design?
The cover helps a tiny bit, but it’s also rig and situation dependent - there’s a lot of variables. Are you gigging, or playing at home? How consistent is the voltage? How many variables (eg pedals) between guitar and preamp, preamp and power amp, etc
@@stug5041 too true. I don’t gig anymore, and i track direct, so that might have a lot to do with it being quieter. Also, i solder like a drunk squirrel, so it is quite amazing they work at all.. hehehe
Wow, this guy is REALLY into his own playing.
