I got turn on to Marshall Tucker when I was 17 I will be 64 in January by a dear friend Randy Olson God rest his soul I'm a black man he was white one of the best friends I ever had.
They bring great joy to my life!!! The Marshall Tucker Band didn't come about by accident! A gift from God for all to enjoy, for many decades to come! Much love from the bluegrass state...
Then we are the same age as you posted that message three years ago I’m 67 and this has been my comfort music since I was in my teens It is a blend of ❤heavenly, gospel, rock, bluegrass all rolled into the most intoxicating, soothing frequencies my soul has ever experienced
The musicianship on this particular song has to be one of the greatest ever recorded. It’s all there pedal steel, fiddle, flute, drums, honky tonk piano. Just superb like nothing you hear today
Plus great lyrics, honest and heartfelt, greal vocals, harmonica, fantastic guitar, a smooth and steady rolling drum beat and just the right amount of bass. What more what could you ask for?
I’m 73 and have been playing guitar for over 55 years. But, once I saw Toy playing with just his thumb, it changed my whole way of playing the guitar. I’ve seen these guys 7 times and their music is embedded in my life. Thank you Marshall Tucker Band, and a big shout out to Doug Gray, one of the finest voices of all time. Peace
I thank God you had your husband and he had you for some time. Often here about making the most of every day and every moment but man that's not easy to do. When we loose a loved one were reminded of that. I hope you have been ok since your husbands passing!!! “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
I know what you mean and at my funeral I'm gonna have them play the A B song by the greatest bunch of musicians that ever got together I been listening to them since 1974. Saw the Marshall Tucker Band , the allman Brothers and Charlie Daniel's Band at Multiple auditorium in Kansas City in 1974 best country ever went to and I've been to a lot of them
This is the song my husband sent me when we first started dating. And to this day he will still send it to me and say ..remember ❤ We both love this band and wow they made such good music!
These guys are one of the greatest bands there ever was. His voice is like an angel. No matter how many times I hear them, I sing, and I can feel it all the way to my soul. I'm almost sixty. I will never tire of their tunes, and promise to crank up the volume.😊l
Damn! I love all these old songs! Makes me pop a top, sit back on the front porch, and go through some old and amazing memories! Thanks for posting these old priceless hits!!
My late husband's and my song...He played drums in his band for 26 years..they payed this song with out the drums so we could dance to this song. I miss him! Great song for couples who really love each other...
This was the first band I followed age 14 in 1976. The first album I ever bought was Searching for rainbow, first concert I went to front row seats compliments of my Mother for myself and my girlfriend both of us 16 years old at The Fabulous Fox Theater Atlanta, Georgia 1978. Amazing journey in music I've been blessed with over the years. Theirs a special place in my heart that's occupied by The Marshall Tucker Band. 60 years old now and obviously still listen to this band.
I remember the first time I saw them at Winterland Arena in San Francisco in 1973 , the first tour of the West Coast . They come out on stage and there is Toy Caldwell with his cowboy hat and I'm thinking " oh no , a country band ! " But then I noticed that the main singer had this long , long hair and the other members looked like hippies , so I thought " this might get interesting " . And it was . The first album had just come out and they played almost all of it and it was great . Marshall Tucker won over the crowd with their songs , the honesty that they played with and the fact that they rocked ! They were well liked here on the West Coast . Still are .
This song is my absolute favorite of all time by Marshall Tucker! I play this song once a week and dance around my living room. No one can ever top this song, in my opinion. The instrumental part is so awesome, but then again, the whole song is! Miss the 70's and this music! I know Tommy & Toy are rockin' out in the heavens!
randall scott burress Lol, do you mean drunk? lol I am, and I don’t drink much! I had to get away from all the crap going on in our country! 🙏♥️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I saw Marshall Tucker band at Six flags themed park in Missouri over 20 years ago. I remember how awesome they were . Pure raw musical talent. No technicals. Great concert
Sounds like the music did its job. Bringing people together. This music is so great! I was introduced to it when I was the same age. It stays with me. And brings me right back to that time. Awesome.
What a song... brings me back to early 80's chasing woman in the "mountains" of upstate NY... man I want my 70's 80's back!!! The small-town bars in Cooperstown and Morrisville, little did I know, were the closest I'd ever get to Heaven.
These guys went through awful times but they made the best music around, ahead of their time and still after all these years I believe great tunes from very accomplished musicians. I listen to this band daily. Lovely comments listed here so nice to read the stories. I was in England during the sixties, girls and rubbish cars and tinkly music, we hardly had anything so deep and tuneful as this late great band.
Great memories from back in the day. My long red hair turning gray, gravity turning my face red!!! RIP Kidd & Mike Madala Brothers Brothers from the road!!!
Been listening to The Marshall Tucker Band since 2004, from my dad. They are still my favorite band, even before the Allman Brothers & Lynyrd Skynyrd. MTB is in a league of their own
used to it was Charlie Daniels , Marshal Tucker and the Outlaws that toured together. I f you like Marshall Tucker , you will like the early Charlie Daniels albums, his first 3 albums were really good
Damn... I have loved MTB since I was a kid in the late 70s and early 80s. After getting married, house broke, and domesticated, I had forgot just how great this song is!!!
Too funny :) "After getting married, house broke, and domesticated". I feel horrible for anyone born after 1999... seriously!!! And hope maybe the 2070's and 2080's might be great again.
I remember being a kid on the way to Florida in 1978. In South Carolina on I-95 a Brown Van with "Marshall Tucker Band" written on the side came driving by. Been playing this song since!
Just think this is the best Love song of this Era. Listen to the different instruments (so many) in a perfectly orchestrated timeless tune. It all comes together like a perfect meal. Vocals etc. flawless. MTB One of the best all time Bands.
Well...can I agree 100% and still put my “heard it in a live song” as 100% = 200% ? I saw them at Ashle for the Arts about 2 weeks ago. WHAT A SHOW...!!!
I am truly a blessed southern hot mess with the love and dedication of these amazing Marshall Tucker boys, and the amazing music they have brought into my life.. thank you so much
This song will always remind me of you. It was our song. I’ll never forget singing it to you in the summer at the lake. We didn’t make it, but life goes on. 🥹
Mine and wife's theme song. Still have unreedemed tickets for front row in st.louis for cancelled concert upon Tom's death. Saw Toy with his band in dinner club shortly before his death. Best no pick guitarist EVER. RIP thunder thumb
My father has a bunch of guitars signed by Doug , Tommy , and Toy ... He always use to tell me the story of how they blazed the biggest J to that song years ago.
I have loved this song for 30+yrs. Reminds me of my late Husband this is exactly the way I feel about him and always have. I miss him more then words can say. I love you Ricky I

You got that right! The talent in this band was simply amazing. So many great instruments and the sound is awesome. Love the flute solo, the fiddle, the piano, and the guitar solos ... all of it is so good! So glad I was living in the south and got to see them many times over the years. The south sure put out some great music in the 70's!!
Santa Barbara County Bowl in the mid to late 70's, what a show!!! Opening act was playing when MTB pulled up in 3 or 4 busses, the place went batshit crazy.I bet they heard us in Ventura!!!
Saw the Tucker Band at Winterland in summer of 1975, then opened for the Allman Brothers bands a few nights later in the Oakland Coliseum. Still great to listen to their magic some 44 years later.
I saw Toy and the guys as many times as I could...come the 7th time I was 21 running keno at harrahs reno in 78'...my man at the time was a local limo driver and MTB came to town and me and my 'Long Hard Ride' t shirt got to meet and party with those guys after the show...I Love them and remember it all like it was yesterday. And now I'll 'Bob Away My Blues'
Went to a concert at The Mile High Stadium back in ‘77’ when I was in the Air Force. I got a ticket from another airman in exchange for a large set of mule deer antlers I had found in Wyoming. There were several groups on the venue playing. Heart came out and started playing then started complaining about equipment malfunction and walked off. Marshall Tucker came right out started jamming. I never looked back. I play them thinking about simpler times and getting lost in music. I haven’t been able to listen to Heart at all since then. Also saw Dolly Pardon & Charlie Daniels at the Frontier Days in Cheyenne and Roy Clark @ the Greeley CO. rodeo. I’m 66 yrs old now and wish I could go back in time.

Why can't we be friends? The MEDIA manipulators don't like it because of the political payoffs.
Anthony, I can't love your comment enough.

So very sorry for your loss. It's hard. My husband died at 50 a couple of years ago. Take care and keep cherishing those memories.
If there was ever one song I had to show someone to convince them of how instrumentally diverse southern rock/country can be, this would be the one.
Great point. I agree.
