The Real Deal..When the Brothers brought Marshall Tucker to New York, we were there at Madison Square Garden.. As soon as Toy took off on his First Solo, we all looked at each other, and instantly knew there was a new Gunslinger in town, that could run with anyone.. A true American Original..RIP Brother Toy.. we are still listening
Miss these good ole boys. Saw them several times in concert in the 70s when both Toy n Tommy Caldwell were still alive. They could play that southern rock.
I am 71 years old, and saw the MTB in the 70's. I will never forget it. I listened to them every day, commuting to work, and every night partying with my friends. I know the words to every song. I have played in many bar bands, and Can't You See was, and still is, required for every show. Toy's finger picking created a very unique sound (Mark Knopfler). His leads are reckless but beautiful (like Neil Young). Still in my top 5 bands of all time.
Wirhout a doubt the most beautiful song ever!!! What a talent Toy Caldwell was. Just listen to his voice and even better his guitar solo. Thank God I was alive to hear this incredible man play this song!!!
This Song is my 2nd favorite by Toy. It is so pure from the Heart. You can hear Gods love pouring out of Toys Vocals and guitar. My favorite is Desert Sky’s. So blessed to see the Tucker band live on their first west coast tour. 73/4. One of my favorite Guitarist and songwriters. RIP Boys ❤️🇺🇸
I used to cruise in my 74 Z28 and listen to Marshall Tucker Band on 8 Track. That was in 1979. I didn’t realize just how good of musicians they were. Absolutely Fantastic! Wish they were All still with us!
Thank You Toy. You and your band will always be the defining of my life in the 70's . May you walk with God and his son. Even now you bring the nostalgia of past times that have made me who I am today. I will always love you as a brother in arms as well as in spirit. RIP Bro.
I always regretted not meeting you. I was thirty when you passed. Then I realized that I did meet you. I met you in your music. Your music was from your spirit.
MTB.... THANK YOU FOR YOUR MUSIC AND MEMORIES, SINCE 1974 FOR ME!! R.I.P. TOY, TOMMY & GEORGE!! Seen you many times and back in the 70's driving 8 hours back n forth to school, beer between my legs, listening on TDK & MAXELL cassette tapes I made... of you fellas. Such great times, you'll always be my favorite band
Oh Boy !!!! THANKS ! Everyone keeps talking about putting Toy In That rock and roll hall of fame... Who Cares if the regular people don"t get it.., He's Ours,,,.and we're Lucky !
I love this song very much so i play it in the streets.i am greek but i feel this band in my heart, also iget this beautifull feeling from as it says, the son of the south, also i can imagine the beauty of the american south.!!! Even its so long ago they made this song my heart feels always new!!! And not only for this song but as i can say for many and many of they song! For everyone that is searching for the rainbow and says to all this madness no thanks with your pot of gold!!! Love from greece😐
56 years old. Stunning and beautiful. Great music. was a teenager when i first heard the greatness of the MTB and it has thankfully stayed with me. so good.
This tune on the album was sung by Doug Gray Toy brings a whole new version!!!!love it!!! Man i miss those days ABB AND MTB LIFE WAS SO SIMPLE THEN AGAIN i was 17 then!
curious as to why Toy is never mentioned as one of the top 100 guitarists of all time..?..when you listen to tracks like 'this ol cowboy' and 'in my own way'(original) it makes sense to include him
I have to say that I have been listening to the Marshal Tucker band for a long time I just found this version 🎶 wow that's so deep love it Allways listening from Port Hueneme Beach CA ✌️ to All
Just the best. Beautiful version of the song. I saw these guys in concert more than any other band. They were incredible and their music fills a very special place in my heart.
I love Toy Caldwell and Tommy too even though I never met them. Or I just could say that the music of The Marshall Tucker Band spoke to me when I finally heard it. I got into live recordings of MTB via Allman Brothers Band traders and such. I had heard the band as a kid on 8 Track tapes my brother had played as he too me to school. As a kid I always made fun of my brother's music. I was so bad, just acting like a maniac, carrying on at the EMOTION displayed by acts such as Janis Joplin, 3 Dog Night, Jethro Tull, Skynyrd, MTB, Zep, etc. I heard a lot of classic rock by default because my brother wanted to be cool. I don't even know if he ever really liked a lot of what he was playing. He was just being contemporary. But my half- brother planted a seed in me and when I was a man I found out some of that music spoke to me and it meant quite a lot to me. I found out as time went on that Toy Caldwell was the heart and soul of the songs of the MTB. So through live recordings I studied MTB and the Toy Caldwell Band. All I can is I consider Toy and the MTB guys brothers, right there with the Skynyrd guys, ABB, Bad Co, etc. Thanks for touching my life with music.
One of my favorites and this version is wonderful. This song has been with me through three divorces and four pickup trucks and countless buckets of tears.
Don't know who you'd find now that Abbie has passed. Maybe Charlie Daniels, Paul Riddle, or his daughters. But yeah I'd love to read it. Miss him and never even met him.
Ive been listening to these boys from the beginning and i have NEVER heard that practically solo version of that song, one of my favorites! Outstanding!!
Damn...where did this music go? You just don't hear stuff like this anymore. Maybe in obscure little night clubs or a coffee house but it's very rare. I just seem a group a few weeks ago that started playing some southern rock tunes, the likes of Lynrd Skynrd and Allman Bros., I asked them did they know any Marshall Tucker or Toy Caldwell songs and they looked at me like a deer in the headlights! I asked them if they didn't know them they need to go back and study these awesome musicians.
If they didn't know of Toy Caldwell, they know nothing about Southern Rock. They probably learned a few chords of Free Bird and Ramblin' Man. Pffffffft....
What a fine track showing off Toy's unique talent not just as a super guitarist but a great performer that always took the audience to the zone , his repoire with the fans was top level greatness.
Simply BEAUTIFUL . R.I.P. TOY . YOU ARE MISSED BY ALL OF US THAT KNEW YOU !!!!
He carried a huge burden losing two brothers back to back after surviving that horrible war. We were fortunate to have him as long as we did. RIP Toy!
Nothing even comes close to Toy and his generation of American country music!!

AS LONG AS I'M ALIVE I WILL KEEP YOUR MUSIC ALIVE THE BEST WAY I KNOW HOW!!!!!!!

Exactly. Toy is forever. This version is so great. Trance listening..
If Toy's not in the HOF, that is a great miscarriage of justice. Without a doubt of the finest Southern Rockers who ever picked up a Les Paul..

Amazing hauntingly beautiful
One of a kind. One of the best. One of the most missed.

I wonder the same thing too. It's a mystery.
Same here
It’s because the people who make these lists and try to rate musicians don’t know shit about anything.
He uses his thumbs and fingernails (no pick)... his pace is so goooood. No sloughing, it is a pure sound.
@@scottrgood Excellent!
