My dad died in July so it's been a rough six months. I randomly listened to this song then sent it to my mom and three brothers the other night and said "this reminds me of Dad." Ive got the same kinda situation. My sister and I share songs back and forth. Its amazing. Close your eyes while listening, and you'll find time travel does exist. Just not in the parameters we thought. I hope you find peace.
All yall have me by over twenty years but I'm with yall 100%! Some of the greatest music of all time! I just wish the real Marshal Tucker Band & the real Lynyrd Skynyrd had been able to have lasted longer. God bless all those that have left this world to rock the Heavens!
Saw them at Red Rocks in 1978. They rolled the backdrop down with the stage coach scene right when a full moon came up over the stage. Never will forget it. Got married 1 week later. Still going strong.
Folks need to listen and appreciate fine songs like Fire on the Mountain. No screaming and hollering. You can understand every word. Good music, like a previous comment, God bless Charlie Daniels too! I had the honor of personally meeting that fine man in Minnesota several years ago. Rest in peace friend.
Saw these guys live, either as headliners or with Skynyrd, at least 6-8 times. They were always more than excellent. Coke was an amazing thing. Even when Van Zandt fell off the stage and hit his head, in Charlotte, these guys came back out , teamed up with the Skynyrd band, and jammed for almost 3 hours. It was an awesome night and memory
I saw them in Sacramento headlining for Elvin Bishop and Skynyrd in1975 I think it was. Elvin Bishop came out and jammed with Marshall Tucker, but Skynyrd didn't.
Brings back many great memories from the 1970's. Riding motorcycles on weekends to see local country rock bands who many performed this song. The wife & I saw the Marshall Tucker Band perform at Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh back in mid 1980's. It was a great concert. The Outlaws also performed with them that night.
We had this album in the 70's when it was released. We loved playing it over and over. I haven't heard this in years. Thanks to who ever shared this today.
My favorite song of 1975! Holds a lot of memories. The year I graduated High School, began College, and then my life changed forever, lost my brother in a car wreck on the 6th day of December of that same year. Still love the song but when I listen to it I overflow with bitter sweet memories.
Scrolling through the comments brings a tear to my eye , just how awesome this music sounds and touches our souls . It will bring people together of all races because life's to be had by all and it's quite a journey .
Late 1970s Jacksonville, NC neighbors had company roll in frequently (not to be named MC). They always came over to listen to this song. Stomping their feet, turntable needle skipping. Good memories. Hope you still racing with the wind. Respect begets respect.
Saw them with Atlanta Rhythm Section at a rodeo in Ventura CA , haybales as seats in the dirt under a moonlit night suckin up on a bottle of JD chased down with Buds enjoying sounds with my shipmates in ' 79 . Listening to this tugs at my heart strings , could always see this in my mind playing out for real in the west somewhere. So glad I grew up in an era that was so much better . God bless y'all .
Saw them at Merriweather Post Pavillion, can't remember the year, '70 something (duh). Went with a group, we took five gallons of Tequila Sunrise, if that wasn't nice I don't know what is. Best of times.

It's always a pleasure for international people to know so much about music. I was 10 when my father say me down on a chair and raised me up with the 60s and the 70s. 11 years old I first heard it. Now on my 40s it's a tune I've never forgotten
Back in 1977 I had just gotten out of the Marines and I was working at the 7-11 store in Daytona Beach Shores Florida down the road from Gregg Allman's Mom. The guys from Marshall Tucker used to hang out around there with Gregg Allman. The Marshall Tucker Band was a bunch of really nice guys. They'd come into the store and stay and talk to me for awhile. One of them even came in once to apologize for Gregg Allman's drunken rage in the store the night before.
I had a 1975 International Scout and added a cheapo tape deck and speakers. I had this album on cassette and played the crap out of it riding down the road. The good ole days.
Son....you are not ugly, you are different like all of us here on Earth. You are loved, and one day, when you get a bit older, you will see that all of these bullies will not be there anymore to bother you! You have heard the expression " a few bad apples....but that is the truth as there are wonderful young people who have a heart of gold just like you! I know it is hard to do when these kids are mean, but stand tall and show them the best, which is you! Remember, you are loved by GOD and your family and I promise, things will begin to change for the better! My young friend, you have a whole life ahead of you with so many beautiful parts in it, and some sad yes, but you will be fine! With all my heart, I wish you the best and I know you will be fine, you are strong in ways that these other kids don't know and may never know! By the way, I am a Father, and I tell my Spn and Daughter the same! John

Fire on the Mountain brings the tears to my eyes as it is a song that my late friend Paul B. was so fond of. He and I saw The Marshall Tucker Band along with The CDB in Syracuse, a couple times. That intro is classic.
Everyone on Earth who speaks English should love this song - but in reality, only people born through the 1950s through the early 1980s in Southern States spanning from West Virginia to Alabama FEEL this song. People have to feel things, you know, my major is all about that in college - I knew it intuitively before - but now I'm all like "No fuck you William Peter Blatty and Juice Newton are my idols because they made you FEEL shit you fucking tool, and I'm all sciencey now to prove you're an asshole" which is what I desired ten years ago. Thank you California.

Close your eyes while listening, and you'll find time travel does exist. Just not in the parameters we thought.
I hope you find peace.
What we called southern rock and loved it back then and I'm 60.
I'm 61 and southern rock is in my collect and play often.
I'm with you brother, I m. 61 and I know where you coming from friend!!!!!God bless you and have a good understand!!!!!!!!!#
I've got you all beat. I'm 78 and have been listening to this for decades, never seem to tire from it.
All yall have me by over twenty years but I'm with yall 100%! Some of the greatest music of all time! I just wish the real Marshal Tucker Band & the real Lynyrd Skynyrd had been able to have lasted longer. God bless all those that have left this world to rock the Heavens!
Holly Bischoff yes we did. Great music
Saw them at Red Rocks in 1978. They rolled the backdrop down with the stage coach scene right when a full moon came up over the stage. Never will forget it. Got married 1 week later. Still going strong.
I saw them around that same time with the stagecoach backdrop. It was killer!
That’s a beautiful vignette and great to hear!!
One of the best for sure and I’m 38. Current generation will never understand.
Sorry I missed that backdrop.
The outlaws warmed them up the first time I saw them live in Oregon.
Saw The Marshall Tucker Band at The Forum. Great live band & good LPs. My dog Blue loved this song. He was more loyal than my ex-wife.
+Dennis Devine That sounds like a country song.
+Dennis Devine of course unconditional love ahahahah
Dude. I googled "my dog blue was more loyal than my ex wife" and it gave me the UA-cam Fire On the Mountain link. You're famous!!!
Cory Wright the tucker group was not on for long time .now they see where the bread is buttered
ain't nothing like a good dog.
Nothing wrong with a lil screaming and hollerin’
Capitol Theatre Passaic NJ. 70s. Johnny n Hanges in Paterson after show
screamo music is the way tbh
You tell him Craig you got it just right I'm in Southeast Georgia if you don't like that right there you don't need to be here
It's called real talent
Takes back to those summer nights
Saw these guys live, either as headliners or with Skynyrd, at least 6-8 times. They were always more than excellent. Coke was an amazing thing. Even when Van Zandt fell off the stage and hit his head, in Charlotte, these guys came back out , teamed up with the Skynyrd band, and jammed for almost 3 hours. It was an awesome night and memory
And ronnie did fall and hit his head in the old charlotte coliseum, which still stands today
@@bankerlies6121 Yes sir
I saw them in Sacramento headlining for Elvin Bishop and Skynyrd in1975 I think it was. Elvin Bishop came out and jammed with Marshall Tucker, but Skynyrd didn't.
Saw them many times when they toured with Charlie Daniel's and The Outlaws. Always felt sorry for Charlie having to follow Green Grass and High Tides.
What a joy it must be to know you've seen real music performed by real musicians, lucky bastard
I miss the 70s
@@theodoreritola9758 Yes. Music was still MUSIC then.
The junk that passes for music today needs to be sent on a one way trip into deep space.
My favorite song of 1975! Holds a lot of memories. The year I graduated High School, began College, and then my life changed forever, lost my brother in a car wreck on the 6th day of December of that same year. Still love the song but when I listen to it I overflow with bitter sweet memories.
This song sounds timeless in the endless pursuit of the dream on the horizon.
You a poet or something
Poetic truth.
Reminds me of when i started my westward ski journey 15 years ago... the courage it took to follow a dream.
The Marshall Tucker Band was unique. Great music. Immortal.
Their music touched my soul.....!
I love the Marshall Tucker band, so fantastic their songs take me “somewhere else” … ♥️
love southern rock! 60s-70s music were the best!!!
Janis Wagner from TX??
Still the best

Charlie Daniels, MTB, Lynyrd Skynyrd to name a few
This song will take you on a journey... if you let it.

That was nice. I love his songs that I kept playing over and over again, Marshall Tucker sang wisely and beautiful songs. How are you doing Rebecca?
Scrolling through the comments brings a tear to my eye , just how awesome this music sounds and touches our souls . It will bring people together of all races because life's to be had by all and it's quite a journey .
70s era .. the time the best music ever was made .. done in analog & no autotune.
I'm only 22 and I listen to this stuff all the time. Carrying the flame on for this generation of music
Very cool!
I'm only 14
Amen man. Im 21 and all i listen to is 70's amd 80's music. So much soul to carry on
wow you are soooo cool what a unique person..... *sarcasm*

Saw them in '79 too. We didn't know how good we had it back then. Glad I didn't know what the future held, and enjoyed a moment of innocence.
That is awesome! Wish i was there
Saw them at Merriweather Post Pavillion, can't remember the year, '70 something (duh). Went with a group, we took five gallons of Tequila Sunrise, if that wasn't nice I don't know what is. Best of times.
That is an awesome story!
My late husband was very into his music, We loved, Marshall tucker Band, Charlie Daniels band,...Not main stream in Australia in the 80’s, memories a bit fuzzy, but love this style of music

My kin folk who shredded blood for 🇺🇲.. introduced me to this Tune Many Moon's ago. Also i sure as heck love the grateful Dead version "Fire on the mountain" Cheer's Brothers & Sisters
Keep on trucking 🤝
If I was on death's doorstep and I had five songs to hear before I checked out, this song damn sure would be one of them.! This version is perfect in every aspect. One of the greatest songs of all time.
Hun intresting
Damn right about that Brother!
I'm there now.
We agree.
I would choose to listen to the long version of Freebird five times.
Wish I could hear each part separately.
My first concert ever was this band, on my dad's shoulders the lead guitarist threw his pic to me and I've been in love with their music since then
Love Marshall Tucker. This song sealed the deal. Along with Lynrd
Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels, The allman Brothers, ZZ Top, 38 special, little feat. Blackfoot and others. Love that Southern Rock..
Grew up and still live in Georgia, so I was right in the middle of it. Great music!
You da man! You really know your southern rock. I love all those groups. Grew up with them.
This is some of the best driving music, I've ever heard.
Especially during a driving rain and lighting...
I have been listening to the old music and I guess I am from the old school but I think it's a good band
It's amazing how a song I never grew up with can trigger nostalgia just by connecting to a vibe or feeling I had as a child. Reminds me of riding dirtbikes on my uncle's farm... beautiful golden times.
It will never get any better than this ....thank you George McCorkle for one of the most amazing songs from my life ..... Everytime I hear it I always think of my mom Sue......she knew GM back in the day and always loved this song.....and I do as well..
A legendary song...Marshall Tucker is written among the 🌟 stars
Took my fam'ly away from our Carolina home
Had dreams about the west and started to roam
Six long months on a dust covered trail
They say heaven's at the end
But so far it's been hell
And there's fire on the mountain
Lightening in the air
Gold in them hills and it's waiting for me there
We were digging and shifting from five to five
Selling ev'rything we found just to stay alive
Gold flowed free like the whiskey in the bars
Sinning was the big thin Lord
And satan was the star
And there's fire on the mountain
Lightening in the air
Gold in them hills and it's waiting for me there
Dance hall girls were the evening treat
Empty cartridges and blood lined the gutters of the street
Men were shot down for the sake of fun
Or just to hear the noise of their 44 guns
And there's fire on the mountain
Lightening in the air
Gold in them hills and it's waiting for me there
Now my widow, she weeps by my grave
Tears flow free for her man she couldn't save
Shot down in cold blood by a gun that carried fame
All for a useless and no good worthless claim
And there's fire on the mountain
Lightening in the air
Gold in them hills and it's waiting for me there
Thanks

You're the real MVP
word for word still good thanks, you aren't no "indian-giver" that USE to mean something/anything to you also?
Bad ass
We need to get this country back to the grass roots of what we were founded on..
Vote for what you feel is right for this country. Always keep your values close to your heart.
And think about men and women that gave their lives protecting the U.S.
Amen!!! That's right😊 3:56
My grandfather loved this band and was close to the guys in it before they passed. He’s recently passed away and I didn’t get a chance to ever see him before he died. I miss him so much and I’ll always listen to this song :( hope y’all enjoy! This is some great music
this is a great song to have playing LOUD while riding my Harley across the country. . . .

Timeless music. Sounds as good as the first time I remember hearing it.
It's always a pleasure for international people to know so much about music. I was 10 when my father say me down on a chair and raised me up with the 60s and the 70s. 11 years old I first heard it. Now on my 40s it's a tune I've never forgotten
Marshall Tucker brings up such good memories of family and friends, good times.
Same here!
When that song came on at the taverns, the whole atmosphere changed
I’m still listening to the album I bought in 68 or 69 when it first came out, love every song on it, still listen to it now in 2024 ❤

Great story and cool brag. Their parents saw so much loss, losing three sons. Heart wretching for sure.
Semper Fi, thank you guys for taking care of me. I did my best to take care of y'all too. - Fleet Marine Force Corpsman
John

Most ghostly, haunting pedal steel I have ever heard!!! This is a true masterpiece folks... listen carefully please.
Perhaps more haunting is the fact not only the talented gentleman who did pedal steel here died VERY young, but his 2 brothers as well. Very discouraging story indeed.
This gave me a whole new perspective on the song
Your revolution is over. Condolences. The bums lost. My advice is to do what your parents did; get a job, sir. The bums will always lose. Do you hear me? The bums will always lose!
I love it!
@@creativenative218 I hope that my wife will someday learn to live on her allowance, which is ample, but if she doesn't sir, that will be her problem, not mine, just as your job is your problem, just as every bum's lot in lfe is his own responsibility regardless of whom he chooses to blame. I didn't blame anyone for the loss of my legs, some Chinamaman took them from me in Korea, but I went out and achieved anyway. I can't solve your problems, sir, only you can.

Had to do the old " tape repair " on my 8 track more than once
Used to listen to it when I lived in Winchester VA and would go crusing down the Valley Pike!!!!
Fire on the Mountain brings the tears to my eyes as it is a song that my late friend Paul B. was so fond of. He and I saw The Marshall Tucker Band along with The CDB in Syracuse, a couple times. That intro is classic.
I love this song and I'm only 20. I'm glad I've found this era of music instead of today's garbage

The band was made in my hometown in sc just a cool fact one of them died in a car wreck on my road.
This is such a good song. It should have 10 times this many views.
Seen live in the70's with several other bands, southern guitars on fire was as good as any concert at cobo hall or Cleveland stadium, until i seen Alvin Lee in Tampa That was a unforgettable show for me 56 years old been going to every concert i could since 9
