I saw them the first time they came out west . They were very well liked in San Francisco and put on a great show . Saw them the next year on the bill with Skynyrd , that was a night of pure Southern Rock in SF !
Hello friend 😁 Started listening to the Marshal Tucker boys around 1979 because of my neighbor. I was 17 at the time. I STILL enjoy the Hell out their albums from the late 70s to the early 80s. You just can't beat them. Ramblin', 24 hours at a time, Fly like an eagle and so many many more!!!
Right here with you. Was talking to a friend in Liverpool a couple of days ago and he brought up Charlie Daniels' name and I told him I would take Marshall Tucker over him any day. Also turned him on to Asleep at the Wheel - he had never heard of them. Love that Ray Benson is still going strong and, of course, they all follow in the steps of the brilliant Bob Wells.
This is the song I want played at my funeral !! I can listen to MTB all day long. When I was stationed in So Carolina I took a trip to Spartanburg just to feel the MTB vibe! I had to stop listening to the band when I rode my Harley because I found myself closing my eyes and just grooving to the great music!! MTB forever!
When I was in the Carolinas yes very much had a down home country appeal, kind of a Andy Griffin vibe. Being born & raised in So Cali very nice country vibe. That was in 1978. Will Sparrow, God Bless you wherever you are my friend!!
This reminds me of the summer of 1977 at Charleston AFB S.C. waiting for a flight to Panama. I had fellow G.I. 's that went to School with heading down there with me. Thank the Good Lord for the Marshall Tucker Band ! May there music live on forever !
I adore these guys, have for 47 years + and cherish the pictures, time, songs, talks and have seen them in several states, and it's always the best. My fav memory goes back to Angels Camp, Concord Pavilion, Universal, Greek and anytime I get a heart full of music, a big ole hug and time to catch up! This song melts my heart very time.
I have been searching for this song for such a long time!! Thank you for making this memory possible. I am not a country music fan, but this has no boundaries! This is Just great Music!!
When I was stationed at Fairchild AFB every time I’d request this on the radio the DJ would play it right before the top of the hour. That way he would get an extra long bathroom break. News came on right after it😊
Well I'm ridin' along Singin' the same ol' cowboy song That's been sung a hundred times before Ain't got nothin' but my name And I'm the only man I know to blame But I'm livin' I'm happy and I'm free Just listen to the wind blow Let it blow let it blow Sand over my trail I got my saddle on the ground And that ol' moon he can still be found Hidin' in the desert sky I like simple things in life Like a prairie breeze A good stout horse between my knees Just bein' alone just bein' me And when I die let me die With a dream in my mind A smile on my face and no trouble behind And no cross on my grave To show my restin' place So I can listen to the wind blow Let it blow let it blow Sand over my trail I got my saddle on the ground And that ol' moon he can still be found Hidin' in the desert sky Won't you bury me with my chaps on And my six-gun strapped to my side So I can watch the moon a-hidin' In the desert sky Hidin' in the desert sky Hidin' in the desert sky Hidin' in the desert sky
Oh man, I am 61, haven't listened to Carolina Dreams in probably 35 years. MTB came up in conversation at a party last night so here I am listening. Love it!
This song was playing on the radio when I was approaching my destination in West Texas - San Angelo. I moved here a few months ago from Northern Virginia. Love this song.
@@glucausa625 I’m from McAllen but reside in a tough part of Dallas. It can be a challenge keeping it Texan while being neighborly and kind. But it’s the only way I know.
Steve Downes Sax and flute?! Nice! Not something you hear very often. And he mastered both instruments. Thanks for the info. I love their music. In a genre of their own!

One time I walked into my friends house in Harwich, MA. On his old answering machine was this message " Heeey Braaaad, Its Toy Caldwell, Ill see ya at the show tonight" lol
Toy Caldwell led the band and wrote this and most of the band's songs. Played lead guitar and steel. Sang lead on Can't You See and several others. George McCorkle wrote Fire on the Mountain. Doug Gray sang Desert Skies perfectly.

This is pure Western Swing: Jazz and Country mix. Absolutely stunning song!
Anyone who is a fan of the original Marshall Tucker is truly a friend of mine.

What about justin bieber ha ha. I grew up in tennessee in the 70s and yes one of the greatest bands.
Grew up in Colorado. Left for Chicago in 82. This song takes my mind back home.

My funeral song...in the meantime, I'll be ridin' on folks.

Ain't got nothin' but my name
And I'm the only man I know to blame

Let it blow let it blow
Sand over my trail
I got my saddle on the ground
And that ol' moon he can still be found
Hidin' in the desert sky
I like simple things in life
Like a prairie breeze
A good stout horse between my knees
Just bein' alone just bein' me
And when I die let me die
With a dream in my mind
A smile on my face and no trouble behind
And no cross on my grave
To show my restin' place
So I can listen to the wind blow
Let it blow let it blow
Sand over my trail
I got my saddle on the ground
And that ol' moon he can still be found
Hidin' in the desert sky
Won't you bury me with my chaps on
And my six-gun strapped to my side
So I can watch the moon a-hidin'
In the desert sky
Hidin' in the desert sky
Hidin' in the desert sky
Hidin' in the desert sky
