I don't think following the books in great detail is practical in a live action series unfortunately. The actors will age to fast. Also, it is way to early to remake the same story into a new version. Perhaps several more decades in the future.
Im most personally invested in them shooting on location and using practical effects. I don’t want another show filmed completely on the void. Or one that looks like its computer animated with one or two live action characters
the harry potter series was the first series i read and was invested in when i was young. and the movies introduced me to the disappointment of leaving stuff out and changing things. I remember so clearly the feeling when i saw the third movie and how different it was from the book. as a fan who was reading the books before the movies started coming out. im thrilled for this remake.. cant be any worse than the writing job for the movies.

Exactly.... I hope we get something like Snippets of Voldemort rise , Marauders, first order of phoenix & war in between Harry Potter story . As it is a series' we got plenty of time ! That would make it much more interesting.

Been waiting for this since 2001. Even as a kid, I was disappointed with what was changed and left out of the movies and it just got worse as they went on. I've been saying for years, they should do a series, preferably an animated one, but I guess I can't have everything. I think they should try to distance themselves from the movies as much as possible. Treat it as a pure adaptation of the book. Maybe occasionally throw in some of the music for nostalgia, but base all the sets/costumes etc off of the descriptions in the books and ignore how the movies did it.
If they want to be "book accurate" they are gonna have to go the ANIMATION route, not live-action. Animation can benefit by nailing the most meticulous characteristics of both the characters and the environments. I just hope that this show can add everything the movies AND everything that they completely messed up.
If the reboot was drawn like Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, it could look great. 3:27 I hope it'll be faithful, Rick Riordan said the same this about the Percy Jackson show and you can see that the show doesn't look like it related to the books.
The story of Harry Potter could go up to 10 to 12 years considering that Harry and the rest of his friends had their own stories after the battle of Hogwarts, they don’t have to skip 19 years automatically. They can show us how Harry became an Auror A Harry Potter TV series could show us how he psychologically dealt with all the deaths after the battle of Hogwarts, like for example Harry most likely suffered from PTSD and probably depression They could show us other dark wizards. After Harry “came back from the dead” during the battle of Hogwarts, several Death Eaters pretty much said “F*k this, I’m out” and ran away instead of fighting. Maybe one of those Death Eaters tried to become the next Dark Lord after Voldemort was killed by Harry, and when Harry becomes an Auror he would become obsessed with hunting down the remaining Death Eaters to the point he would completely push Ginny away. Harry would be on his Wizard Punisher mode and Ginny would have to help him snap out of it We could also see other plot points like Ron going through a lot or Trauma after the battle of Hogwarts. He would still blame himself for abandoning Harry and Hermione and he would feel unworthy of Hermione. He would have nightmares were Harry and Hermione die because of him to the point he hardly sleeps anymore, maybe he would try to help George after losing Fred We could get a Hermione story where she goes to look for her parents in Australia and how she funds them and gives them back there memories, then how she rekindles her relationship with Ron, how she becomes Shacklebolt’s apprentice and next in line to become minister of Magic Maybe they could show us how the Wizarding World would discriminate against ANYONE who was a Slytherin after the Battle of Hogwarts. You can’t tell me that the wizarding world wouldn’t discriminate against the Slytherins for everything Voldemort did, because it absolutely would happen. I could imagine many innocent Slytherin families who had nothing to do with Voldemort and his Death Eaters completely avoiding the wizarding world for fear of discrimination, some would even choose muggle life over wizard life There’s a lot they can do post Battle of Hogwarts, and I know what you’re going to say. “Didn’t you read the book ending? JK Rowling said Harry’s scar hadn’t hurt in years and all was well”. Yeah, his scar didn’t hurt because the part of Voldemort that lived within him died which allowed the scar of his forehead to heal and fade away, Harry even lost his ability to talk to snakes because of that, but doesn’t mean that there were no other dark wizards who threatened the Magical World afterwards. And that “all was well” part was just a way to close the story of the books, but that honestly makes no sense. The wizarding world will ALWAYS be threatened by dark wizards, just like in our world there will always be criminals. I’m honestly tired of Potterheads always saying that everyone lived happily ever after because JK Rowling wrote “all was well” at the end. “All was well” can have different meanings like “Harry finally found some peace in his life” or whatever, but not that everyone lived happily ever after ANYWAYS… moving on with that The story of the Marauders could be a 10+ season story. The Marauders had 7 years at Hogwarts and once they graduated they had several encounters with Death Eaters and Voldemort until James and Lily died when they were in their early to mid twenties We could also get several spinoff’s like a Founders of Hogwarts story. I would absolutely LOVE that I would also like to see a Merlin Spinoff. Maybe bring back Colin Morgan as Merlin… you know, for all of us BBC Merlin fans, it would be a neat way of making the BBC Merlin series part of the Harry Potter Universe… just saying… We could also get a spinoff about some student in Tom Riddle’s generation at Hogwarts and we would see through his eyes how Tom slowly turns into Voldemort. It would be like watching Anakin slowly becoming Darth Vader through another Jedi of his generation. I honestly don’t think Tom Riddle would be a good protaginist for his own show because no one would be rooting for him, but if we have protagonist that is in Tom’s generation we would be rooting for him, specially if he is Tom’s polar opposite, maybe they could be rivals until Tom kills him when he becomes Voldemort We could get a Spinoff of Albus Potter and his life at Hogwarts. It would be a story of him trying get out of Harry’s shadow. Maybe Harry is constantly going to Hogwarts and teaching Defense against the Dark Arts to students in Albus’s generation and everyone would be telling Albus “Oh your dad is so cool” or “you’re so lucky to have Harry Potter as your dad” and he would try to do as mch as he can to step out of his dad’s shadow, which is something I’m VERY familiarized with and it is very relatable. My dad is a famous businessman in my country who knows people in positions of power and I’ve tried doing my best to step away from his shadow by doing my own thing, so I would understand Albus’s need to do the same Maybe we could get a Spinoff about say… a witch or wizard that recently graduated from Hogwarts in current day (by that I mean 2024 or 2025) and becomes an Auror and he or she has to work with an old head Auror similar to Alastor Moody who is always well… moody, (no pun intended) and as the series progresses this old Auror goes from being a hardass no nonsense type of guy who shows no emotion to a man willing to do whatever he can to protect his young partner
I think the series could set up some spin off movies quite nicely. I doubt they will do it after season 1 but maybe later in the game?? It’s a great idea
I hope we can finally see the quidditch cup final in the series since they cut it in the movie 😌 (ofc more quidditch just like in the book since there’s only one quidditch match in every movies) and peeves should be there! I mean c’mon. A better hogwarts, the castle in hogwarts legacy is so good, i hope they can pick up something from it. Oh and hermione SPEW movement (more accurate book hermione) and Ginny! Please! We need a book accurate Ginny! The badass popular beautiful brave savage Ginny! And younger the marauders you know, more story of them and snape.
I just know the Max series won’t be able to recapture the original films’ magic and overall aesthetic. However, it will definitely be a lot more faithful to the books since they have 8-10 hours of storytelling per book adaptation vs 2.5hrs. I just wish we got spinoffs instead or if anything readapt the books as an animated tv series vs live action
All I’ve ever hoped for out of a series is just some sort of cool spinoff taking place in the wizarding world. I can understand why they’re doing this but I’m VERY cautiously heading into it.
Animated series would really limit potential fan base. I’d be completely uninterested, for one. As long as they don’t take too many liberties to the stories then I think it would work well. I’m reading the books again, this time with my daughter. There’s more than enough side stories to make a full tv show out of the books. Im excited yet hesitant. It will either be amazing or a major flop in my opinion.
I am excited for this series 🎉 . There is a fear , not gonna lie but nonetheless exploring whole magical world in new perspective. I'm all in for it . As much as i love movies , there are lots of characters that are butuchered in movies & lots of them which are over hyped ! So i want this series to happen book accurate and exploring the world !!!!
I want it to be animated but I guess live action would be fine, I just always imagined the characters as cartoons based on how they were described and things can be exactly as described if they're animated. mostly though I just want the werewolf to be more like an actual wolf. the books said that the main ways to tell a werewolf apart from a normal wolf were its shorter snout, smaller, rounder pupils, and tufted tail, but in the movie the werewolf looks way too human. as long as the werewolf design is more book-accurate I'll be satisfied. over all I think the series will be better for one reason. the movies had the major flaw of coming out alongside the books, which meant they made some changes that didn't make sense in the long run. as the biggest example, if the goblet of fire had come out by the time the chamber of secrets movie was made I don't think they would've made people using the polyjuice potion still sound like themselves. and as a tiny example, the order of the phoenix had a tiny scene that showed Slytherin's locket that could've been really good foreshadowing for the next few movies if they had known what the locket was. (edit, turns out the goblet of fire was out when the chamber of secrets was made. I assume they just didn't read it because spoilers or something)
The path to success for this series is extremely narrow. Not only did the movies just finish their run just 12 years ago, but they did a near universally lauded job at adapting them. I just don't see it being likely that they match or exceed that threshold, and anything less is going to be seen as a failure. I agree that it being a TV show will allow it to be a lot more faithful to the books. But that in itself does not make a great show.
I’m really mixed about this. We have an iconic series of perfect movies and of course the books in all their detail. We don’t need a re-telling do we ? It feels like the IP is there to be exploited to the max. The Harry-Verse is incoming for a new generation. It’s really going to be very tough to outclass what has gone before. Not just story wise but the actors, the eccentric Britishness…… Studio’s tend to milk an IP dry, have a break then rinse and repeat. The first hurdle is to convince the audience that they really need something that they didn’t know they wanted. It will most likely divide the fans generationally a little like Star Wars but I think that’s just a normal generational response. Toxicity is a risk but I’m not sure that is even a worry these days. It just adds another level of monetisation and includes those that love to hate. Outside of that any big IP can be a target of the culture war nonsense just because it’s a big IP. What if they pull it off though………..

We’ve bought the books, watched the films at the theatre, bought the box set, visited the theme park, joined a house, waved our wands about, played the games, re-watched the films at Xmas…….. Now it’s another generations turn to sub to the streaming service, buy the books, wave the wand etc…….
I think it’s a colossal mistake and it will pale in comparison to the movies. I’d understand if the movies were dated now, but they’re not at all. They’re completely timeless and kids today love them just as much as we did. I highly doubt they can match even 50% of the quality of even the first movie
I’m worried it’s just gonna be a bunch of kids who can’t act standing in front of an obvious green screen. They’re probably gonna butcher the world building in annoying ways, like making 95% of the magic nonverbal so they don’t have to figure out what spell the characters are doing. It’s going to be less Sorcerer’s Stone and more Crimes of Grindelwald.
I will never watch it. I don't think there needs to be a remake. I would rather watch a founder's series, or a mauraders series, or something different. I give the idea a huge thumbs down and I am a book fan, not a movie fan.
As someone who loves the franchise with it being my favorite franchise of all time and someone who loves the books despite the changes made to the films for cinematic purposes, I have no interest in watching a remake of the seven books for TV. I'll just stick with the books and the movies.
Circa third fantastic beasts film, i thought there should be an HP tv series. 7 seasons, 7 eps per season, but the eps need to be columbo length. Proper 90+ mins without ads. Canon to the books. 49 eps + 2hr special to wrap up series. 50 eps total. Adrian monk would like the round #. Add all missing characters. Then, just like dc/marval, have the tv series running while a new set of film series is in theatres. 10 films that conclude with a wizarding WORLD war. Start them off light like the first two HP films, then they grow darker as the audience ages. Expand the wizarding world globally. A film in brazil with castelobruxo, the other two euro schools etc. Japan. Africa. Etc. A glimps of all known wizarding schools. I even had ideas. The first [light] film would be philosopher's stone meets billy madison. Hermione, the mistress of magic, pardons hagrid and gives him a certificate of completion/diploma for hogwarts, but hagrid chooses to go back to school to complete years 3-7. He's classmates with some of the children of Harry's schoolmates from the HP films. But also a malfoy/o'doyles rule dark wizard family who makes him suffer every year. The family has a weasley amount of kids. 2nd film a french wizard child creating a flubber type spell or charm that is weaponised in the 7th or 8th film. Have some of fluer's family working at beauxbaton. Or the french ministry of magic. 3rd film a teacher or german govt official whose whole family are dark wizards, but she/he is like sirius or andromeda. A good wizard who saves the day. 4th film, An african mistress of magic, who has a twin who's the headmistress of wagadou. See wandless magic. 5th film, the japanese school of magic, but also something reminiscent of covid where the flubber potion from 2nd film is manipulated and weaponized to cause some kind of dragon pox illness. By films 9&10, characters from all the preceding films form a justice league/avengers type group of super aurors to beat something worse than grindelwald and voldemort. Then a tv series like twilight zone/eerie indiana/are you afraid of the dark/tales from the crypt anthology series that will also be global and "woke"🙄😮💨 with a global cast. Sorry for typos
Re: J. K. Rowling's involvement - You do realize that she wrote the screenplay for 'The Crimes of Grindelwald', don't you? Having her on board is no guarantee of quality. Also, some of what was left out of the movies was left out for good reason. There's also the question of where Rowling's reputation is going to be in 2026. Two years is a long time in the social media world. Also, Hogwarts may not land with Zoomers and Alphas the way it did with Gen Xers and Millennials. In 1997, the bullying and teachers indifference to it was met with "Yep, that's how it is, very realistic." In 2026, the reaction may be more like, "Man, this is a terrible school. Why haven't they been hit with multiple lawsuits already?" and "Why hasn't the CPS taken Harry out of the Dursleys' custody? For that matter, why hasn't Dumbledore gone to the Dursleys and threatened them with uncomfortable and embarrassing jinxes if they don't give Harry proper food, clothing, and a bedroom?" TL; DR - The nostalgia factor may not be enough to guarantee that the series will also be a success. Just sayin'.
The movies did a lot better than the books in a lot of stuff. I just hope the TV series isn’t a repeat of the books or the movies that it’s it’s own thing. My favorite Magic series so far is The Worst Witch and just found out there’s a sequel series now that Mildred Hubble is in College.
I'll be very frank: I don't have a particular attachment to Harry Potter, despite having appreciated the books (especially the first 3 and some parts of the following ones). So I might sound contradictory...however, I think the time is far too immature for a series that retraces that storyline. First of all, we are very close to the descendant parable of Fantastic Beasts, and this could impact the public's appreciation of the series, given that for quite a few spectators the films with Newt and the young Dumbledore were the first products of the world of HP. Secondly, there is a risk of being constantly compared with films: for better or for worse, the film saga has left its mark on more than one generation and even a little on the history of cinema, in terms of takings. The series would therefore start under close observation by a significant portion of the public. Third, and this is perhaps the aspect that perplexes me the most, is the proximity, relatively speaking, that exists with the last film of the saga, namely The Deathly Hallows 2 (2011). Despite the differences, sometimes truly deplorable, between the last four films compared to their paper counterparts, the plot is essentially given to the viewer: of course, many elements are missing, even important ones... but the viewer still has the general picture, at the end of the film series. I'll give a future example (if it ever comes to fruition): Narnia has been adapted with 3 films, but to understand the entire concept of that saga, all the adapted books would be needed (especially the last one). A Narnia series, while not strictly necessary, would fill in existing holes and gaps in the macro-plot. In HP...pretty much everything we needed to know to get Harry's full story, we get. Therefore, a series that retraces the entire plot of the books would not only be a repetition of what has already been seen (especially in the first three films, where cuts were minimal), but would also risk having an internal imbalance regarding the episodes dedicated to each book.

I can see a TV series being more faithful to the books, but I can also see it having a lot more filler, and not being as captivating or having good pacing. Will reserve judgment, but the movies were fantastic and I don't see the need for a TV series. At least not yet.

The 8:30 quote from Rowling is silly, and was the confirmation I needed to write off this show tbh... Like, the movies were pretty faithful adaptions already (except maybe 4/7)? And JK Rowling has always been given an insanely high level of control over any adaptations, even the theme park..? Not trying to be a hater, but idk that they've explained any creative point to this new tv show. She claims the movies removed depth from her books, but most of the things I remember the movies dropped (like idk, Nearly Headless Nick), we're pretty superficial. Honestly, many times the movies added more depth than the books had (like Death Eaters comparisons to the KKK). Now that I think about it, the worst received and most shallow aspects of the films--like the prologue--were usually a result of JK Rowling's direct insistence to stay faithful to the books. (For example, Dumbledore was supposed to have a story in the films about a childhood romance to a girl when talking to Harry, and JK Rowling has explained she specifically intervened and struck the conversation b/c Dumbledore is gay but she didn't want to reveal that... which is fine, but she didn't replace it with a story about him. So the screenwriter just left the backstory blank.) Honestly, I grew up with Harry Potter, but I don't think it can truly grow until Rowling has LESS control... And that's true for a lot of things. Like for the original X-Men cartoon, Stan Lee tried to force a lot of creative choices (like making him narrator behind a desk), and if they had allowed that, we would never have X-Men 97 now. Unlike GRRM, not every book author is a talented show-runner or screenwriter... GRRM spent years in TV show-running before HBO pushed him out of Game of Thrones and ruined that show. Rowling has thrown herself into writing harry potter movies, broadway plays, even video game dialogue, without any appreciation that she has 0 experience in those realms. In my opinion, Rowling needs some humble pie b4 Potter extended universe can ever be interesting, and it sounds like WarnerBros/HBO are terrified to serve it to her after they pissed off GRRM for no reason (the owner of their only other valuable IP).
The first few seasons are going to have a ton of child actors which will inevitably be hard to watch at times for the mostly adult fan base. Add in J.K. Rowling’s tarnished reputation, and the general public’s burnout from unnecessary reboots, and this show is going to have to be REALLY good to be successful.

It wouldn't surprise me if they do that. it'll bomb as bad (or worse) than The Rings of Power if that happens. If they woke-afied Star Wars, Star Trek, as well as The Lord of The Rings, then they'll do it to Harry Potter too.

You can’t tell me that the wizarding world wouldn’t discriminate against the Slytherins for everything Voldemort did, because it absolutely would happen. I could imagine many innocent Slytherin families who had nothing to do with Voldemort and his Death Eaters completely avoiding the wizarding world for fear of discrimination, some would even choose muggle life over wizard life
There’s a lot they can do post Battle of Hogwarts, and I know what you’re going to say. “Didn’t you read the book ending? JK Rowling said Harry’s scar hadn’t hurt in years and all was well”. Yeah, his scar didn’t hurt because the part of Voldemort that lived within him died which allowed the scar of his forehead to heal and fade away, Harry even lost his ability to talk to snakes because of that, but doesn’t mean that there were no other dark wizards who threatened the Magical World afterwards. And that “all was well” part was just a way to close the story of the books, but that honestly makes no sense. The wizarding world will ALWAYS be threatened by dark wizards, just like in our world there will always be criminals. I’m honestly tired of Potterheads always saying that everyone lived happily ever after because JK Rowling wrote “all was well” at the end. “All was well” can have different meanings like “Harry finally found some peace in his life” or whatever, but not that everyone lived happily ever after

The story of the Marauders could be a 10+ season story. The Marauders had 7 years at Hogwarts and once they graduated they had several encounters with Death Eaters and Voldemort until James and Lily died when they were in their early to mid twenties
We could also get several spinoff’s like a Founders of Hogwarts story. I would absolutely LOVE that
I would also like to see a Merlin Spinoff. Maybe bring back Colin Morgan as Merlin… you know, for all of us BBC Merlin fans, it would be a neat way of making the BBC Merlin series part of the Harry Potter Universe… just saying…
We could also get a spinoff about some student in Tom Riddle’s generation at Hogwarts and we would see through his eyes how Tom slowly turns into Voldemort. It would be like watching Anakin slowly becoming Darth Vader through another Jedi of his generation. I honestly don’t think Tom Riddle would be a good protaginist for his own show because no one would be rooting for him, but if we have protagonist that is in Tom’s generation we would be rooting for him, specially if he is Tom’s polar opposite, maybe they could be rivals until Tom kills him when he becomes Voldemort
We could get a Spinoff of Albus Potter and his life at Hogwarts. It would be a story of him trying get out of Harry’s shadow. Maybe Harry is constantly going to Hogwarts and teaching Defense against the Dark Arts to students in Albus’s generation and everyone would be telling Albus “Oh your dad is so cool” or “you’re so lucky to have Harry Potter as your dad” and he would try to do as mch as he can to step out of his dad’s shadow, which is something I’m VERY familiarized with and it is very relatable. My dad is a famous businessman in my country who knows people in positions of power and I’ve tried doing my best to step away from his shadow by doing my own thing, so I would understand Albus’s need to do the same
Maybe we could get a Spinoff about say… a witch or wizard that recently graduated from Hogwarts in current day (by that I mean 2024 or 2025) and becomes an Auror and he or she has to work with an old head Auror similar to Alastor Moody who is always well… moody, (no pun intended) and as the series progresses this old Auror goes from being a hardass no nonsense type of guy who shows no emotion to a man willing to do whatever he can to protect his young partner

I hope we can finally see the quidditch cup final in the series since they cut it in the movie 😌 (ofc more quidditch just like in the book since there’s only one quidditch match in every movies) and peeves should be there! I mean c’mon. A better hogwarts, the castle in hogwarts legacy is so good, i hope they can pick up something from it. Oh and hermione SPEW movement (more accurate book hermione) and Ginny! Please! We need a book accurate Ginny! The badass popular beautiful brave savage Ginny! And younger the marauders you know, more story of them and snape.
I just know the Max series won’t be able to recapture the original films’ magic and overall aesthetic. However, it will definitely be a lot more faithful to the books since they have 8-10 hours of storytelling per book adaptation vs 2.5hrs. I just wish we got spinoffs instead or if anything readapt the books as an animated tv series vs live action
All I’ve ever hoped for out of a series is just some sort of cool spinoff taking place in the wizarding world. I can understand why they’re doing this but I’m VERY cautiously heading into it.
Animated series would really limit potential fan base. I’d be completely uninterested, for one. As long as they don’t take too many liberties to the stories then I think it would work well. I’m reading the books again, this time with my daughter. There’s more than enough side stories to make a full tv show out of the books. Im excited yet hesitant. It will either be amazing or a major flop in my opinion.

As much as i love movies , there are lots of characters that are butuchered in movies & lots of them which are over hyped ! So i want this series to happen book accurate and exploring the world !!!!
I want it to be animated but I guess live action would be fine, I just always imagined the characters as cartoons based on how they were described and things can be exactly as described if they're animated. mostly though I just want the werewolf to be more like an actual wolf. the books said that the main ways to tell a werewolf apart from a normal wolf were its shorter snout, smaller, rounder pupils, and tufted tail, but in the movie the werewolf looks way too human. as long as the werewolf design is more book-accurate I'll be satisfied.
over all I think the series will be better for one reason. the movies had the major flaw of coming out alongside the books, which meant they made some changes that didn't make sense in the long run. as the biggest example, if the goblet of fire had come out by the time the chamber of secrets movie was made I don't think they would've made people using the polyjuice potion still sound like themselves. and as a tiny example, the order of the phoenix had a tiny scene that showed Slytherin's locket that could've been really good foreshadowing for the next few movies if they had known what the locket was.

The path to success for this series is extremely narrow. Not only did the movies just finish their run just 12 years ago, but they did a near universally lauded job at adapting them. I just don't see it being likely that they match or exceed that threshold, and anything less is going to be seen as a failure.
I agree that it being a TV show will allow it to be a lot more faithful to the books. But that in itself does not make a great show.
The movies werent that good at adapting the books. Especially Goblet of Fire and The Half-blood Prince suffered

It feels like the IP is there to be exploited to the max. The Harry-Verse is incoming for a new generation.
It’s really going to be very tough to outclass what has gone before. Not just story wise but the actors, the eccentric Britishness……
Studio’s tend to milk an IP dry, have a break then rinse and repeat.
The first hurdle is to convince the audience that they really need something that they didn’t know they wanted.
It will most likely divide the fans generationally a little like Star Wars but I think that’s just a normal generational response. Toxicity is a risk but I’m not sure that is even a worry these days. It just adds another level of monetisation and includes those that love to hate. Outside of that any big IP can be a target of the culture war nonsense just because it’s a big IP.
What if they pull it off though………..

I think it’s a colossal mistake and it will pale in comparison to the movies. I’d understand if the movies were dated now, but they’re not at all. They’re completely timeless and kids today love them just as much as we did. I highly doubt they can match even 50% of the quality of even the first movie

They’re probably gonna butcher the world building in annoying ways, like making 95% of the magic nonverbal so they don’t have to figure out what spell the characters are doing. It’s going to be less Sorcerer’s Stone and more Crimes of Grindelwald.

As someone who loves the franchise with it being my favorite franchise of all time and someone who loves the books despite the changes made to the films for cinematic purposes, I have no interest in watching a remake of the seven books for TV. I'll just stick with the books and the movies.

Circa third fantastic beasts film, i thought there should be an HP tv series. 7 seasons, 7 eps per season, but the eps need to be columbo length. Proper 90+ mins without ads. Canon to the books. 49 eps + 2hr special to wrap up series. 50 eps total. Adrian monk would like the round #. Add all missing characters.
Then, just like dc/marval, have the tv series running while a new set of film series is in theatres. 10 films that conclude with a wizarding WORLD war.
Start them off light like the first two HP films, then they grow darker as the audience ages. Expand the wizarding world globally. A film in brazil with castelobruxo, the other two euro schools etc. Japan. Africa. Etc. A glimps of all known wizarding schools.
I even had ideas. The first [light] film would be philosopher's stone meets billy madison. Hermione, the mistress of magic, pardons hagrid and gives him a certificate of completion/diploma for hogwarts, but hagrid chooses to go back to school to complete years 3-7. He's classmates with some of the children of Harry's schoolmates from the HP films. But also a malfoy/o'doyles rule dark wizard family who makes him suffer every year. The family has a weasley amount of kids.
2nd film a french wizard child creating a flubber type spell or charm that is weaponised in the 7th or 8th film. Have some of fluer's family working at beauxbaton. Or the french ministry of magic.
3rd film a teacher or german govt official whose whole family are dark wizards, but she/he is like sirius or andromeda. A good wizard who saves the day.
4th film, An african mistress of magic, who has a twin who's the headmistress of wagadou. See wandless magic.
5th film, the japanese school of magic, but also something reminiscent of covid where the flubber potion from 2nd film is manipulated and weaponized to cause some kind of dragon pox illness.
By films 9&10, characters from all the preceding films form a justice league/avengers type group of super aurors to beat something worse than grindelwald and voldemort.
Then a tv series like twilight zone/eerie indiana/are you afraid of the dark/tales from the crypt anthology series that will also be global and "woke"🙄😮💨 with a global cast.

Re: J. K. Rowling's involvement - You do realize that she wrote the screenplay for 'The Crimes of Grindelwald', don't you? Having her on board is no guarantee of quality. Also, some of what was left out of the movies was left out for good reason. There's also the question of where Rowling's reputation is going to be in 2026. Two years is a long time in the social media world.
Also, Hogwarts may not land with Zoomers and Alphas the way it did with Gen Xers and Millennials. In 1997, the bullying and teachers indifference to it was met with "Yep, that's how it is, very realistic." In 2026, the reaction may be more like, "Man, this is a terrible school. Why haven't they been hit with multiple lawsuits already?" and "Why hasn't the CPS taken Harry out of the Dursleys' custody? For that matter, why hasn't Dumbledore gone to the Dursleys and threatened them with uncomfortable and embarrassing jinxes if they don't give Harry proper food, clothing, and a bedroom?"
TL; DR - The nostalgia factor may not be enough to guarantee that the series will also be a success. Just sayin'.

My favorite Magic series so far is The Worst Witch and just found out there’s a sequel series now that Mildred Hubble is in College.
I'll be very frank: I don't have a particular attachment to Harry Potter, despite having appreciated the books (especially the first 3 and some parts of the following ones).
So I might sound contradictory...however, I think the time is far too immature for a series that retraces that storyline.
First of all, we are very close to the descendant parable of Fantastic Beasts, and this could impact the public's appreciation of the series, given that for quite a few spectators the films with Newt and the young Dumbledore were the first products of the world of HP.
Secondly, there is a risk of being constantly compared with films: for better or for worse, the film saga has left its mark on more than one generation and even a little on the history of cinema, in terms of takings.
The series would therefore start under close observation by a significant portion of the public.
Third, and this is perhaps the aspect that perplexes me the most, is the proximity, relatively speaking, that exists with the last film of the saga, namely The Deathly Hallows 2 (2011). Despite the differences, sometimes truly deplorable, between the last four films compared to their paper counterparts, the plot is essentially given to the viewer: of course, many elements are missing, even important ones... but the viewer still has the general picture, at the end of the film series.
I'll give a future example (if it ever comes to fruition): Narnia has been adapted with 3 films, but to understand the entire concept of that saga, all the adapted books would be needed (especially the last one). A Narnia series, while not strictly necessary, would fill in existing holes and gaps in the macro-plot.
In HP...pretty much everything we needed to know to get Harry's full story, we get.
Therefore, a series that retraces the entire plot of the books would not only be a repetition of what has already been seen (especially in the first three films, where cuts were minimal), but would also risk having an internal imbalance regarding the episodes dedicated to each book.
Meh. I'm usually cautiously optimistic, but like with LOTR it's already been perfected. No need for a show

Will reserve judgment, but the movies were fantastic and I don't see the need for a TV series. At least not yet.

Like, the movies were pretty faithful adaptions already (except maybe 4/7)? And JK Rowling has always been given an insanely high level of control over any adaptations, even the theme park..? Not trying to be a hater, but idk that they've explained any creative point to this new tv show.
She claims the movies removed depth from her books, but most of the things I remember the movies dropped (like idk, Nearly Headless Nick), we're pretty superficial. Honestly, many times the movies added more depth than the books had (like Death Eaters comparisons to the KKK).
Now that I think about it, the worst received and most shallow aspects of the films--like the prologue--were usually a result of JK Rowling's direct insistence to stay faithful to the books. (For example, Dumbledore was supposed to have a story in the films about a childhood romance to a girl when talking to Harry, and JK Rowling has explained she specifically intervened and struck the conversation b/c Dumbledore is gay but she didn't want to reveal that... which is fine, but she didn't replace it with a story about him. So the screenwriter just left the backstory blank.) Honestly, I grew up with Harry Potter, but I don't think it can truly grow until Rowling has LESS control...
And that's true for a lot of things. Like for the original X-Men cartoon, Stan Lee tried to force a lot of creative choices (like making him narrator behind a desk), and if they had allowed that, we would never have X-Men 97 now. Unlike GRRM, not every book author is a talented show-runner or screenwriter... GRRM spent years in TV show-running before HBO pushed him out of Game of Thrones and ruined that show. Rowling has thrown herself into writing harry potter movies, broadway plays, even video game dialogue, without any appreciation that she has 0 experience in those realms. In my opinion, Rowling needs some humble pie b4 Potter extended universe can ever be interesting, and it sounds like WarnerBros/HBO are terrified to serve it to her after they pissed off GRRM for no reason (the owner of their only other valuable IP).
The first few seasons are going to have a ton of child actors which will inevitably be hard to watch at times for the mostly adult fan base. Add in J.K. Rowling’s tarnished reputation, and the general public’s burnout from unnecessary reboots, and this show is going to have to be REALLY good to be successful.
