A unicorn bourbon. I can’t imagine drinking it on a golf course. A large leather chair, a fine cigar, some jazz music, and a great view of the mountains would be my requirement.
I've only ever seen one Russell's 13 on the shelf over that last few years. Can't imagine the even older 15 year is going to be any easier to find. So unfortunately yet another bottle almost no one will see. Good to know it's probably worth the high MSRP though!

It's arrived in Chattanooga, TN. Had it tonight and HOLY FREAKIN SWEET OAK BOMB. Finish for days. Not as sweet complex notes as 13 but this does aged bourbon to perfection. A+
Negotiated hard from $500 down to $350, btw. A friend did for 4 bottles with us.
A true friend doesn't mind your backwash in his most prized bottle. Sean is a great friend.

Oh I just got so lucky at a local small liquor store I frequent. They sold me a Russell’s 13 and 15 for $450 just slightly above msrp. So lucky. I had seen one (15) 1:36 for 350$ at another store and almost pulled the trigger even at that price as most others were already well into the $500-$650 range. Can’t wait to crack this one open.
I guess I'll have to open mine now.
So the question we have to ask ourselves: is this really worth $200 or $300 more than a bottle of Rare Breed?

I LOVE RR13. This blows it out of the water. I've done multiple sides by sides with RR13 B3, and it is just not even vlose
We have a Russell's premium tasting scheduled for October at the distillery. Not expecting a taste of this, but man, that would be nice. Cheers!

Yeah this is gonna be a challenge to find in the wild in LA. But you gotta grind. Found a 22A Stagg all by its lonesome behind the glass at Ralph's last week with no price card. Watching them scan it was like pulling a slot handle . $89.99. Yahtzee. Drinks like a mini monster
SoCal is one of the easiest places to find bottles in the wild. I've already seen this at three spots. Best price so far $429 tho but that price was a bundle that included a RR 10yr and RR 6yr Rye. To speak to your Ralph's experience though we found eagle rare at a ralph's in Woodland Hills on sale for $32 a bottle a couple years ago and stocked up for the hell of it.
Been looking for a backup; probably will get a second one soon. For me, as a big turkey head, this is perfection after opening it this past weekend. And I doubt they’ll be doing this release again anytime soon.
We’ve got one at the bar I work at, can’t get anyone to spend $60 on a shot of it yet though 😂

I love your reviews for both the comical aspect and the trust factor of both your opinions on whatever bottle is in front of you but here in Upstate NY so many of those bottles just can't be found and that might just be a good thing when it comes to my wallet! The closest thing ("still sold out" but shown as inventory) is the 13 year and that's $149'99 on the shelf, $162 if you want to get it past the register! Off topic, I want the bottle of Old Forester Redstone Barrel Proof Single Barrel for $91 and just can't bring myself to do it. Great review and 🥃Cheers!

Got one for MSRP last week. It was on the same day my local had WLW 23 for whiskey Wednesday at $21/ pour. I had the WLW first, came home and opened the RR15 for a pour and followed it with a 23 GTS pour. Is 15 years a sweet spot for bourbon? The RR15 is fantastic, complex and fairly well balanced. To me, it does have a slightly astringent, mouth drying oak finish that the WLW and GTS don't have. Both of them are richer and more complex to me. That said, the RR15 is easier to get and is a great example of nicely aged old whiskey. I will definitely buy a back up at MSRP given the opportunity. This bottle is likely teetering on the top of the astringent old oak fence post for a lot of bourbon enthusiasts. Its a beautiful thing. Nice review dudes!

It's good ya'll... but I disagree that it's that good - and I'm a BIG WT fan. At MSRP it's IMO a challenge. I'd probably pay that, but no way I'd pay the secondary prices.

I found it a bar here where I live that has a bottle of it and it was $60 for a 2-ounce pour. I would gladly do $30 for a one-ounce pour. $60 is a bit much, IMHO.

As someone who lives just outside of Louisville I can tell you that like 90% of allocated releases from KY do not actually release here until weeks after they are in other states. Frustrating as hell!

Blind I didn’t care for it. It was fine. Hot and over oaked for me. Not bad or anything but meh, different strokes.

Am I crazy or is 13 better? 15 is definitely bolder and the extra age shows but 13 just seems like a sweet spot
I think once these bottles open up we can have a more balanced take on it vs the 13. My b3 and b4 13s have settled down quite a lot with air. The new 15 is even more wild straight out of the gate and its very impressive. But let's wait a few months til end of the year blinds and see how it holds up.

What if you have never liked a single Turkey product you’ve ever tasted? Like I had batch 3 13yr and it was meh slightly better than shelf Turkey to me. There’s a sour funk note on all Turkey products that my palette just hates.
And just like that this whiskey will never be found again because of this hype.
