    Just went into Oscar's and couldn't decide between the Rebel and the Ezra, and I asked the clerk about it. He said, "I'll make the decision easy for you." He let me try both. Great video. Great store. Good golly miss molly that Ezra was delicious.

    8:30 I don't know why you would expect a store to be warm and welcoming when you're clearly on a mission to buy allocations, they've never seen you before, won't ever see you again, and you're gabbing about hitting all 25 stores in town. This shit sucks and is the single worst part of the bourbon community in my opinion. By closing time that clerk has seen 15 guys doing the same thing as you, he doesn't really need to give you a hug on the way in and out.

      Lol I live in WI too and I have found a ton of places with pretty bad prices. 60 for BT is very common, anything allocated 2x MSRP etc. Still lots of stores selling at MSRP but the price gouging is getting more and more common. Nothing compared to MN though lol 😂

    • @WhiskeyFan
      @WhiskeyFan Рік тому

      @@waggs9588 this can be true, mainly in small town liquor stores. I'm usually looking in Madison and Milwaukee and I've found the prices to be closer to MSRP for most things. When they are not it's not to the levels in seeing in these videos. I've been to Kentucky and I've found similar pricing to these videos in smaller liquor stores. Usually more reasonable at TW and Liquor Barn there. Justin's also had some silly prices. San Francisco and New York City, in the heart of those cities had some silly prices too.

    If you like cask strength and a great mouth feel, pick up a bottle of the Ragged Branch Cowboy Cut, one of the best I have had, drinks lower then the proof and almost a bourbon cream mouthfeel.

    Great episode man! Tupelo is my home town and I typically stay away from La Vino's bc of the markups. Next time you're in the area try Henry's wine and liquor. If I'm not shopping at Oscar's I'm shopping there. Keep the great content coming and stay safe!

    Interesting that I always though that in MI high prices, but looks like Mississippi prices on majority of whiskers even higher ;-) So some bottles actually way lower , such as Old Ezra BP. Here is about $70, but Old Times in MI around $27. ;-) Cheers. Good thing that they have a lots of varieties of not allocated whiskies that pretty hard to find.

    You mentioned you're from Opelika, have you had Black Patch bourbon from Madison/Huntsville?
    It's to my understanding they do 2 years in a big barrel then port it over to smaller barrels for the last year to get more surface area. They say it gives a 5-7 year flavor in 3, and I'm inclined to believe it's quite good. Very heavy on the caramel flavor.

    I think you should have grabbed that Old Ezra 7 Rye. That one won't be around much longer IMO.

    I know you're a bourbon guy, but I saw some hibiki harmony in at least one of those stores, and I just want to find one of those for under 150 bucks. It's 250 bucks or nothing where I'm at, but I've been wanting to get one of those
