I'd say Thin Lizzy is probably the most underrated rock band ever. Considering Phil Lynott voice, band's melodies, unique instrumental arrangement, playing with distortion, harmonies, song writing etc. I think they deserve to be more recognized and their albums played more on radio stations.

I listened to Thin Lizzy a lot back in the 70s because they had a few really great songs - like this one. But their problem IMO was that the quality of songs was a bit uneven. Too many not so great songs, in other words.

Met Phil back in 78, I was a teenager heading up the hill of Howth one day and Phil was on his way down, passing the Asgard. I knew who he was, and he gave me a big smile. I remember thinking how cool he was. Saw him in concert twice, will never forget, and passed him early one Sunday morning going over the halfpenny bridge in 81. I was deeply saddened when he passed. He was a hard core Irish man. Always made it known too. Irish Mother, Nigerian farther (who he never knew) born and raised in Crumlin, Dublin. Come to think of it, a hard core Dubliner too!

Phil only had the best Axe slingers either side of him, going back to Eric Bell, Gary Moore, Brian "Robertson, Sykes, and even Snowy White later on... All Lead guitarists but they became "Twin guitarists"" because basically, Phil played Bass and guitar on the same instrument.... He never started out as a bassist, just one less guy to pay on the road.... Also, He will take your wife, girlfriend and sister and nothing you can do about it because he is him and you are not.... Phil is total Rock star, front man !!

Agreed. The master of the 30 second guitar solo. One of the things that made Thin Lizzy rise when other hard rock bands were falling from favour was that they didn't drag songs out longer than they needed to be. Part of the reason they were able to do that was Brian being able to put more into 30 seconds or less than most guitarists put into a 3 minute solo.

Makes me laugh when people say Iron Maiden owe so much to lizzy. Lizzy were leagues ahead of them. They had a charismatic frontal in Phil. Maiden had Er, Bruce Dickinson. Lizzy had Robbo and Scott firing on all 6. Maiden had er can't even remember their names. Lizzy had the wonderfully erratic Brian Downey on drums. Iron Maiden didn't. Maiden had some dodgy looking skeleton thing having a bad hair day as a stage prop. Lizzy didn't need one. Their music spoke for them. Maiden had songs like Run To The Hills as fans favourites. Lizzy had Warriors and Emerald.......Need I go on?

There used to be a comment on a UA-cam video of this song - perhaps this one - something like 'This solo will steal your car, fuck your sister and burn your house down', and that is indeed how I feel about it!

I believed every word that Phil Lynott wrote, sang and spoke, I listen to the poet, the storyteller, the adviser and the historian and the rocker that Phil was. I listen to, sing
along to and through some Rockin shapes and dance to the most brilliant music of Thin Lizzy and have done since I was a little boy and will do until my last day on Gods green earth even if live for 500 years more

Im very VERY nearly 60 and this lot were a huge part of my life (the discovery part) shall we say...😋
Phil, scott & both brian's were the mega line up for me... just fantastic! Just fan'bloody'tastic...
For me it all came crashing down when Brian R. Had to go😑... and then down the pipes it all went, snowy white, gary moore and onwards towards the 'thunder & lighting' album and then the end of the man himself... many moons after i dragged my arse to see blackstar riders (lizzy) with scott & brian D.... wish i hadn't... RIP lizzy.

Who does not love Thin Lizzy? This is what Rock Music is all about. Rest In Piece Phil and thank you for the all the great memories and Dalymount Park, Dublin 1977. Support act Graham Parker and the Rumours, and a little unknown band called The Boomtown Rats! I had just turned 16 years old and that gig is still rated as the very best outdoor gig to this date, in Ireland at least!
