YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED WHEN I RETURNED TO MY HOMETOWN IN KWAHU - GHANA | LIVING IN GHANA
As a Ghanaian woman of Akan descent we inherit from our matrilineal side. My mother's hometown is Abetifi Kwahu, which is where I am also from. During the easter festivities I made it a point to return home to see my family.
Kwahu is a beautiful part of the Eastern Region in Ghana. Its very popular around Easter time for people to saturate this part of Ghana. Activities you will find here around this time of the year includes; paragliding, hiking, carnivals and street jams. For Kwahu people, it is an annual homecoming, but for holiday travellers it is an occasion for celebrations. There are also performances by various artists. In this video, i am on a road trip to explore Kwahu and all the activities it comes with during Easter.

My name is Jasmine and I have relocated from Sydney Australia to Ghana in west Africa as of the year 2020.
My parents are of Ghanaian descent and so am I although I was born in Australia. Here on my channel, my goal is to give you a real glimpse into what it’s like to live in Ghana, from the Ghanaian food, to the Ghanaian culture, to the Ghanaian lifestyle and everything in between. My goal is to satisfy your curiosity about Ghana and help inspire to explore Ghana.
My prayer is that these videos do just that for several African’s in the diaspora.
Follow your bliss because life is short, follow your bliss because human life has no intrinsic value, follow your bliss because everything happens for the greater good and follow your bliss because it has all happened before.

What a beautiful story about Auntie Salah and your family. Your tears were tears of good memories and lots of love and appreciation. I love that the spring water flowing through the stream just by the road side is so clean and clear. This is how the rivers lakes and waters of Ghana were not too long ago. Sad what has polluted most of them. I am elevated that at least some clean clear waters still exist.
Jasmine you are really a Kwahu lady, your first instinct was one can package this clean water and sell it. That is the Kwahu business mindset which is very good, no laying around seeking handouts.
Wow the Ramseyer Presbyterian Church at Abetifi! That church has a lot of history on Christianity in Ghana and it’s beginnings. Very powerful missionary work done there by the Basel missionaries from Switzerland.

So happy for you Jasmine, there's a quote that echoes in my mind as I grind away everyday, it goes: "no matter where you go, remember the road that will lead you home"
Sometimes re-walking the roads we walked as kids, or being in the environment, or meeting those that we used to see daily, wraps us in the loving warmth of belonging, no matter whether the memories are good or bad, that is where we are from. You feel at home, welcome and in some ways, accomplished.
I'm happy you're able to enjoy that feeling, enjoy your time there and see you in the next video. ❤

The scenery is beautiful. Those big homes empty, so sad. There should’ve been a commuter train and other means of transportation for ease of commute from the Eastern Region to Accra, it’s not even that far. Most people probably might not move to Accra and Tema leaving their ancestral homes or hometowns. They could go and conduct whatever business and come home. The place is basically choked. There’s so much space out there that can be utilized. Jasmine the emotional experience you’d was normal response with the connection to your ancestral home.

I have watched & enjoyed so many of your videos, since I became a subscriber well over a year ago. And, I think this is my first time making a comment. But, there was something so special about this one that made your tears so "apropos" (apropriate in the moment😊), special and so very precious. May the LORD continue to bless you in all that you set your hands to do.
