@@livingfinance Remember they didn’t start rich at all if you really know where this man( family) came from. Perseverance is the key here. They are already 3 generations old to acquire all that you see! He and some friends followed the path of some earlier hometown guys( same village) to Nigeria in the 1970’s and early 1980’s and ended up in Ghana. Remember his daughter, that new mom was only 5 months when he arrived from Nigeria! Besides most South Europeans adapt to African countries quite easily. They are already a buffer between Europe and Africa. He and his friends might have first had problems with English on arrival but Italians especially those from the south are the best under such conditions. You may still see his offsprings living there in 100 years time! They don’t easily give up! Just think of early Italians arrival in US. Another bonus aspect is the tight family network. Both daughter and son join dad and mom to strengthen and expand the family business. Something that the family has been doing since the 18th century! Again South Europeans had it rough in North and other parts of Western Europe, especially in the 1950’s 1960’s till late 1970’s when they came to work in the mines and new factories as guest workers! Most Southerners have strong will and aren’t born with silver spoons in their mouth!

I love how open he was to show his house,.explain everything and share his story. He is an excellent story teller, spoke the whole 30 min 😂 i really enjoyed it. The only thing i would recommend vanessa, is to get more comfortable with asking questions. I feel like if he didn't speak this much, the conversation would have been blank. Ask him if the materials are from africa, what were the challenges, why did he choose to move to africa.
Its sad that the girl says she understands why people.dnt consider her ghanaian when she has been living there since she was 5 months old. She is more ghanaian than most in the diaspora. Some of us have never even visited Africa. Be proud of beeing ghanaian girl cuz you are.

Thank you! The video was 1h30m (cut down to 30 min) I like to let the interviewee speak. I did ask about why he moved to Ghana in the gym & some of the others but not everything could be left in. I appreciate your feedback. I have many videos and hope that none of them are blank 🥴🤪

I disagree with you. I hate when people say someone is more an ethnicity than another. Realistically she knows she will never be treated like a full Ghanaian because she doesn’t look it and many non-African communities who live throughout Africa often create enclaves and keep ties to their countries of origin. Also there is different historical perspective from Europeans settling in Africa vs Africans settling in Europe. I am diasporan but I don’t think she is more African than I am because she grew up in Africa. You can live somewhere and never have to interact with local people and be completely disconnected. Geography does not equate full integration.

    • @livingfinance

In addition, Italians emphasize citizenship by blood not by birth. It is extremely hard for Africans to earn Italian citizenship. I think it’s important to not lose perspective in the world that we live in. It is much easier for Europeans to settle in Africa than the reverse and her family are very much aware of their status and novelty and the perception that local Africans have of Western white people.

I agree. I really like the video, but I like the content of a question rather than just the subject of the video doing the general talking. I wish there was more background about this man, his family, how he ended up in Africa, etc. It definitely could have been included in a 30 min video and still have a full vision of the house.

@@livingfinance I think she means culturally, but yes I do agree with you she lives in Ghana but she is definitely very much more Italian than Ghanaian... I couldn't get a full sense of their attachment to the continent or Ghana, so can't really say much...

Italians LOVE Africa and are indeed living their BEST lives on the continent, they even have a little Italy in Kenya. It’s a shame that hundreds of west Africans are dying trying to get to Europe.

Great use of space. I agree, the iron bars on windows and doors does make some homes look like prisons. Not to mention the safety hazard to the homeowner in case of fire. There are practical alternatives in the market now.
