Did my F 150 with 1/8 square tubing used appropriate size. Stronger and cheaper. Two are secured with stainless steel bolts and washers the third is held on with the bed bolts. Inside sprayed with oil outside painted and sprayed with fluid film.
What is the best way to flip the bed upside down without damaging it? After getting it off the truck, did you set it on the ground and then flip it over by lifting the back end, and letting the bottom front corners of the bed take the weight as you rolled it over? I know it would be best to flip it over with two people but could one person do the job?
Have cardboard down, and stand the bed up with the cab side on the cardboard. Then roll it onto sawhorses. First one on tailgate side, then left cab side and get that into position.
Why not just weld it down the edge? Why plug weld it like that? (I'm not a welder, but I need to get this done here at my shop.) I have to prep it for a welder coming in, who has all kinds of work to do for me taht day, but this is one of htem.
You know, after you response I thought, DUH, true, it all sandwhiches and bolts together. My welder wanted to do what you did, but we decided it wasn't worth drilling and the extra work as it didn't come with holes. He explained in more detail why your plug method has benefits. But the BIGGEST thing, is very CAREFULLY placing those if you don't want to fight putting it on. I had some long rods that fit exactly in the holes, that want all the way to the ground making it easy. Thanks Zippy @@zippyzappyz

Awesome video. When I did a similar repair, I found a spot weld drill that helped, assuming you can find the spot welds in the rust :)
Some much work!
Lots of details and you move it by yourself?! 😮
Great video!
Great video if only we can work that fast lol😂

It doesn't need more then a tack since its primarily held down with the bolts through the body
