The theory test isn't hard at all; it's not subjective and there's no skill involved. Seriously, there's no reason any normal adult should fail it. Read the Highway Code then get an app and do practice questions. Repeat until your scores are good enough. I have a lot more sympathy for people who fail the hazard test, that's a load of subjective nonsense where you can fail by detecting the developing hazards earlier than the test expects!
I totally agree I passed first time at the age of 63 got all the questions right and about 80% of hazard perception. I found it dead easy but I did find several apps and did them all over and over again until I got them right. Put the work in and you can't fail.
There speaks the normie for whom they set the test is specifically engineered! I have severe non verbal learning difficulties apparently but I practiced extensively with the app which suits my mind and I passed the second time….having remembered to turn up….unlike the first time 😔😏
Yep, I agree. And definitely driving us absolutely the most dangerous thing anyone can do, I believe that a driving licence is a privilege not a God given right. You need to study, and pay attention because let's face it if you can't hold your concentration enough to pass a test, you sure as hell won't hold it long enough while you are actually behind the wheel or handlebars, I definitely don't want anymore of those on the road
Been driving a car over 30 years ,but want to get back on a bike ,downloaded an app ,revised 20 to 40 minutes a day for 4 weeks ,I was terrible at the start but got better every day ,passed first time last month never ,had to do a theory test before .Do the work and you will pass ,doing bike mod 1 and 2 in February/march .I agree with pretty much everything you’ve said mate .
It amazes me, that after all these years and all these videos you've done on the subject of motorcycles, that you haven't become a motorcycle instructor yet. Seems to me that it would be the perfect job for you. And, yes, I hate "grammar nazis". UA-cam is a social media website, not a place of extreme accurate information where every word has to be spelt 100% right, with all the correct grammar and punctuation. Hope you have a nice Christmas.
They only need one question on the Theory test. Does indicating - A) Show other drivers that you intend to move over once it is safe to. B) Give you the right to change lanes even if it is dangerous and causes other drivers to brake hard or swerve. 90% Of road users would fail in my experience.
I feel called out as I'm 35+, and I do agree. I did mock tests etc and it was all cool 1st time pass, it probably helps being a car driver for decades too though. The hazard perception test did make me a bit paranoid to be honest... "have I clicked too early, best click once more to be safe, and then once more to be doubly safe".
Great topic Spicy! Yep I'm well over that #35 now and totally agree with you. I'll start back up on my theory app now as my theory certificate runs out in Feb but only just sat my CBT July 2023. I'll be sitting both MODS from March if I can get them booked/holidays off work🤞 I worried about failing the theory but sailed through it after a couple of months with that app. Best thing out there to use I believe. Every day I'd practice and test myself. In the end, I'd look at the answers and guess the questions. Most of the time I was correct due to constant repetition and my need to learn/remember. They're only a few quid and you WILL need it for your tests if you're younger or never had much road experience. I've got 33+ years driving but nil on motorcycles. It's totally different going back to learning but I love it. I do feel learners (all types) are looked down upon by others because of that 'L'. I cannot wait to rip that up ASAP. They forget they had to do that themselves at some stage. Folk don't appreciate what knowledge you may already have, just that little placard. Thanks.
I passed Tuesday 50/50…….revise 😀 I did scrape through the hazard perception 48/75 the pass mark is 44. It’s not getting harder, the youth are getting dumber, every year my wife meets another group of young adults who can’t read, write or tell the time… I asked an apprentice to tighten a bolt 180 degrees, he looked at me stupid, so I said tighten it from 12 til 6 …..”you want me to tighten it for 6 hrs”…….Trust me I was impressed it knew that was six hours 🤣😂
I'm def in the older category! 😀 and yup... agree 100% 😀 Something I struggled with in the RN was learning all the BS those with gold on their shoulders deemed important, what I didn't struggle with was ever fixing the sonar equipment on the submarine, so I get that there are differences in people's academic ability, but the things in the theory test are not academic, they are literal things that every road user needs to know, and the list is not a long one, but it is all relevant to the task rather than BS you learn to pass a test.... much like my time in the RN, I absorbed the knowledge that allowed me to do my job, but had no time for the BS that just made an officer happy.... the theory test has none of that BS, it is rules, gun drills, basics. Great vid Spicey 🙂
When I studied for my theory test for my CAR license I didn’t know what to expect, and was very nervous. Turns out my worry was unfounded, as I only had one of the questions wrong. Five years later it was time for the theory test for my MC license. I didn’t try to “wing” it, but I was far less nervous and even though I studied, I wasn’t fretting over it. I passed, but with the margin of one correct answer. So, the time you put into studying absolutely shows in the result! That said, if the tests have actually gotten harder, they have for a reason. That reason is not to HAVE more people fail, even though that might be the result. The reason for making something like this harder is because the previous “lowest pass score” didn’t sufficiently weed out people who weren’t ready, so to speak. I have no sources for this, but if your world view is that the government (or “powers that be” residing over these isssues) is trying to make it safer for everyone in traffic, what I say here is just logic… On the other hand, in case you believe that the government is “out to get you” (or something similarly), then you don’t believe me, and I’m either a government shill or “dumb enough to be duped by the rules”… Just because we are at the center of our consciousness, doesn’t mean that everything else revolves around us specifically, and seemingly more and more people subscribe to the thoughts that “if it affects me it is designed this way for (or against) me (or any group/category)”, and that is just to egotistical…
You do have to learn how they “think” to some degree and there’s a degree of subjectivity to the hazard perception element. What we need to remember is that not everyone processes information the same and there are many high functioning people with learning disabilities for whom the test is problematic. However Spicy is right in saying if you do the practice and get “in their heads” you will pass but it is not easy for all. It doesn’t want to be easy because it is a life saver.
I passed first time both car and motorbike theory tests. It’s mostly basic knowledge of the road and Highway Code. Most of the questions are just common sense. I agree with you, most people fail because they are lazy and not bothered about learning it. I was 16 when I started revising the Highway Code because I was determined to pass my theory test for driving once I turned 17. Also using a theory test app everyday to make sure I was ready for my theory test. If people wanted to drive or ride a bigger bike that badly, they would be doing as much revision and learning as they could. I also have learning issues which did make my theory test a little tricky but I passed both times due to determination and dedication.
Theory test hard, best joke i've heard all year... passed 3 in my life, taken 3 in my life... test number 3 was done with no revision, i refused to pay for materials after i paid a year before but they had changed to a subscription model...
It's not the theory test the examiners are failing the pupils on, it's the practical. There's an examiner who lost his job & is being taken to court for defamation for whistle blowing the fact that examiners have to fail a certain percentage.
I am talking about the theory test, I am specifically replying to many many comments I have read over the years and the research study that was done. Have you got a link about this case you refer to?
@spicy110 yeah, I'll see if I can dig it out for you. Although, he was on about the car test. I'm presuming it's across the board & includes the bike test.
@spicy110 ua-cam.com/video/ouDGrDXWH5I/v-deo.html&si=Ina-1wkZXaVSsnRR It's about an hour long. But if true, this'll make some interesting content. Keep up the good work & keep the vids coming pal. 👍🏍
Passed my theory no issues. The hazard videos were all different from the ones "publicly" available lol. For those doing the theory, bike, lorry or car, study the highway code, you should be doing that every day anyway, and try the hazard videos. They give you an idea of what to expect on the day. Today I do the MOD 2 and hoping for an early Christmas present lol.
I passed mine first time, which surprised me as hardly anything from the app I bought came up. I seem to remember questions about heart attack first aid and trams 😂 Failed both mod 1 and 2 twice though lol
I memorised the braking distances……one question in 50 and that was “how much is your braking distance increased during wet weather” ….really? I can tell you the thinking and braking distances fro 20-70 mph and that’s all they asked me 🤣
Did mine the other month, got the App and went through it flat out over a weekend, took hours doing each section with the harzard videos after.. i then chipped away an hour a night on and off while i waited the 3 weeks.. did a full run again till i hit 100% the day before. It really does take hours to complete all the mock tests.. its 1 1/2 hours of hazard vids, the multiple choice takes forever.. i passed 47/50 multiple choice, 67/75 hazard.. i also watched Driving Theory Uk channel on here, super helpful explaining stuff.. My biggest advice to anyone is actually book it all today, my cbt was a 3 months wait, in then booked my theory, another 3 weeks, mod one wait is 10 weeks. i stupidly waited to start my bike test journey as i was busy with life and thought it would be like 2 weeks each part.. i wish i knew the waiting times and how i should plan out getting my A licence with less delays, because these places really are backed up in some areas..
Couldn't agree more. I took my driving theory test 6 years ago as at 17. Passed first time, struggled and revised like crazy as like yourself struggled with learning in the school format. Then only earlier this year, booked my bike theory test to finally do my license. Few online tests before booking, 1 the night before. Walked in passed. It's not too difficult but without learning it will be impossible. I struggle with memory retention quite badly, so takes me a while for things to actually stick into my mind. But re-inforcing it over time helped me retain it for 6 years to be able to do my bike theory, with a few added extra bits of learning for the difference between car & bike tests. I'm only 23 so not as old as expected.
I've watched a few TV programmes where some have failed a driving test many many times, (maybe this shows they don't have the ability and shouldn't be driving?) . The fact they might pass when on the programme now means one more dubious /dangerous/nervous driver is on the road!
I discovered a system for hazard awareness because i was clicking too early... do 3 or 4 clicks over the entire hazard (about 0.3-0.5 seconds apart) as opposed to just one click, this maximises your potential points...
Or you could actually learn how the system works and learn some reading comprehension skills... it's a sliding scale system, more clicks = more points, the hazard often appears for about 3 seconds, one click half a second too late and you go from 5 to 2 points, bet you took a few attempts to pass... if you ever have...@@DSN262
I use the same system have done for years and showed my wife it after she was having problems and failed. I've never failed a hazard perception test but in the practice some times my first or second click was a little early so around 3 clicks is the sweet spot.. Scored 5 on most videos because of the system
i completely agree, driving once was a privilege that was worked for, now it feels like it should be a right that everybody should have a licence which looking at the standard of driving on the road is just not the case. Personally i would make the test and the theory harder ( i too am dyslexic but passed three different theory tests (car, hgv, motorcycle) as well as multiple operators courses e.g.forklift because i prepared for the tests every time.) and maybe more expensive to discourage the "oh try it and see its only £23" (i know that is not a great option giving the current economy though)
the ammount of effort i put into doing my theory for my bike test id spent 2 hours a day atleast revising whilst at work and at home when i went for my car theory 8 years later passed first time aswell its all about the effort someone is willing to put in imo
I winged it. Passed first time. But I had always had an interest in driving and had read the highway code cover to cover several times. The hazard perception test I barely passed first time. Learning my roadcraft on a mountain bike and then a motorbike makes me see the road as constant stream of hazards. It does NOT want to you to click for "potential" hazards. It is testing how quickly you react when they "develop" into something you MUST react to. If you don't react immediately it means you weren't paying attention to the "potential" hazards in the first place. I think they should make it harder, or make people resit it every 3-5 years. If you spend any time on social media, or anytime driving on a Saturday you quickly learn that most people haven't the faintest clue and would almost certainly fail any driving test, theory or practical.
I totally agree with u spicy iv faild mine by one point on the hazards perception going back on the 27th jan to it agin but i know where i went wrong im looking forward to hopefully passing this time i had a friend didnt do no revision and failed i said to her u should be hitting that app as much as possible
another thing which i keep hearing is people being surprised when the questions aren't the same in the apps as the test. They are entering and getting completely confused when the questions arent what they did in a free or cheap app
Having done various theory tests for different licence categories, it's not hard, just basic knowledge of reading the highway code and understand basic road rules. The hardest part is the hazard perception cause the more experienced you are the earlier you see the hazard and click too early
Have you ever done a video of you doing a mock theory test? That would be interesting for people like me who are so old there wasn't a theory test when I passed my motorcycle test, just riding around Chatham with the examiner following me.
Yes I think you have a point there I’m 63 passed my motorcycle test in 1977 but it was so easy back then Highway Code section was so easy about 5 questions 15/20 minutes ride round the block well done son you’ve passed but today I feel I’d never pass now if I took it but as your saying you only get what you put in anyway love the channel take care ride safe have a good Christmas 👍👋
You'd pass if you practiced using one of the many training and mock tests available. In fact, you probably have an advantage in that you have less to learn. You probably suffer from a few misconceptions, they'll be put right with practice. I suspect that the most difficult aspect of the test will be the hazard perception, but you can learn how to master this with practice. What makes me so certain of all this? I passed my bike theory test 14 months ago, at the age of 65, having been driving since 1977.
I agree with you i did my theory test for my car licence different than the motorcycle one i cant spell but with the theory test thy can have the question over a headset well thy did back in 2006 i found it easy
I'm a Hong Konger living in UK. The theory test in UK isn't as easy as the one in Hong Kong (esp. with my bad English, I even don't know the difference between the words "pull out" and "pull over"!). That said, I still managed to pass the theory tests (both motorcycle and car). I won't say theory test is easy, but there're lots of materials and apps for you to learn and practice. Passing the theory test is the minimum level to prove you're safe on the road. Just like CBT, Mod 1 and Mod 2, if you can't pass the theory test, that's a sign that you're still not ready to ride, and you should revise and take the theory test again.
I was gobsmacked to read someone on Reddit looking for advice on how to pass his theory test as he'd failed 3 times. Said he'd been using the app(s) but there were questions in the test that hed never seen in any app before. Turns out he hadn't even read the highway code, but was solely relying on mock tests to 'learn' the correct answers. 🙄
In the last 50 years it would be easy to say that people have become more stupid .But in this case I agree with you .They have just become too lazy to learn ,and people that know nothing are often mistaken as being stupid .
@@spicy110 thank you! I last done the theory test back in mid 2015 but didn’t end up getting a bike. I had passed with 50/50 on the multiple choice q’s at the time 😆 hoping for the same again lol. But like you say in the video I have been using the apps and doing mock tests and brushing up the highway code (still needed even being a car driver) so should be fine, update to come on my channel
The questions are pretty easy. The hazard perception is a load of bollox though. Alot of the clips you need to be mystic meg to predict the hazard before its even occured in the frame.
This is where chat GPT will come in very useful. Making the theory test even much harder will not make riders any safer (which the gov seem to think) You have to actually practice it in real life to be safer.
I’ve done theory test 3 times for 3 different vehicle classes and I’ve revised, learned and I’ve passed all 3 first time so I think they’re fine if you actually do the work. Though I will say the new animated hazard perceptions are horrid
As someone who for various reasons has passed their theory test multiple times( why does it expire btw) it’s not become harder but it has become broader and more abstract and the hazard perception test has been varied levels of crap the new cartoonified version is off putting
It's easy... Its like a pub quiz... Easy if you know the answers... Do lots of mock tests till you get none wrong... And practice hazard perception videos.. I got 49 questions right out of 50.. And 66 out of 75 in hazard perception
I've had to do my theory twice in the last 10 years, first was for getting a truck license and I was broke and needed the license to get a new job. I absolutely could not fail. So I revised hard. Got 100%. Did my bike one a couple of years ago, still revised but not as intently. Remembered most of it from the truck test. Still passed easily. Like you say, you just have to learn the answers, there's no calculations or anything weird, it's just memory.
Not directly related to the theory test but we have a real issue with young people not learning things at work. As more and more qualifications we rely on are based on coursework not exams we are finding that people getting to interview are google foo experts rather than subject experts. It’s the same problem but in a different scenario.
I have the all in one theory test on my pc and app on my phone and own the highway code 🛣 book. I even now and then do a refreshers test. 😁😊😝❤️🔥✌🏻 You do the studying and the work. The theory test is a walk in the park. Otherwise, you're not learning anything and should not be on the road!. Yeah, just remember to have consideration for one another. Everyone has the right to be on the road.✌🏻
No one has the right to be on the road, that's the problem a driving licence isn't a given. It's a qualification that has to be earned and used correctly to be kept. That's the problem on the road too many people thinking they have a right to be there.
The other day I was getting my haircut and thought as I'm in the area I'll give it a go (not at all expecting to pass just doing so to see how far away I am) and I ended up passing first time without studying and now for some reason I feel I should study some but ive already passed so I don't know what to do..😂😂😂 most of the questions are just common sense and if you cant answer them I totally get why you shouldn't be on the road
Well I passed my first motorcycle test a long time ago and I am still learning on every ride.😄 Never a bad thing to have more knowledge, until the next time you drive and realise most people clearly have no idea of the rules of our roads haha
I failed the written test for my license three times and past the practical once, Basically the written here in the US is what sounds like the Theory test up there "What do these signs mean? What do you do in X situation" Etc, and hell depending on the state when i lived in Nevada i literally road the motorcycle to the Department of Motor vehicles hopped out got the same instructor as before and she went "You road it here?" and i went "Yeah." And she went "Here's your license." and i was out of there in ten minutes. But as far as the written test goes i was lazy and didnt practice until the third time because my mom went "This is the last time or you dont get your license EVER" and so i cracked down and studied and past it 100% the next try if you arent passing a test its not rigged your just lazy and im speaking from experience
Its not hard at all, but the hazard perception does have an unusual technique needed. At school the GCSE questions were multiple choice, they taught us to whittle down the obviously wrong answers, basically I could probably answer questions I knew nothing about just by sheer logic. The hazard bit, you need to click several times about 1 sec apart because its very easy to click too early. Theres an app drivin tes sucses, buy it, kane it, it would be very hard to fail. I was literally in and out of the room, had to refrain from laughing out loud at one clip with cat and dog chasing each other in the snow. Basically, listen to spicy, he knows the score!👍😎
I personally dont think the car theory test is hard at all, Passed it first time. But the motorbike theory made me scratch my head abit as some the questions were indeed odd. From the top of my head one of them was “when do you wear a high visibility clothing? Rain, snow, fog or nighttime” Ideally you would say all no? As you can ride through all of those situations and can be considered low visibility weather conditions. No idea if i got it right as you cant check but it seemed odd
Theory test is so easy. I understand people have dyslexia and learning difficulties but if you haven't and can't pass then you shouldn't be on the road. I left school not being able to read and write and have learnt as an adult. I downloaded the official theory test app. Practiced for a week and passed 49 out of 50 and 67 out of 75 on the hazard perception. About 80% of the questions are just common sense.
I did theory test 2 years ago, I walked in the lady said is this your first time, I said how many times you want me to take it. I passed and after I read the average was 2 or 3 times
I’ve got a full A1 license and now want to upgrade to the full A, DVLA have just told me I will have to do the theroy test again as well as mod 1 and mod 2? I thought it was just mod 1 and 2
I failed my first driving theory test by just one question, despite practicing with one of those old DVLA DVDs that covered most of the questions. Eventually, I passed on the second attempt. I also took my motorbike theory test a few months ago and passed with 47 out of 50 on the first try. It's not that it's hard; it's just annoying. Especially the hazard perception test - it's relatively easy, but when the heck are they expecting me to click? The classic three-click method is the best way to approach it, but even then, it's not entirely foolproof. Don't be like me and wait until the last minute to do any practice. Get an app, and it becomes much easier after you go through all 1000 different questions they can and will throw at you.
The theory test is not hard, but youngsters of today can't be bothered to read the highway code. They just do the practice test, thinking that the questions will be the same
I really don't think it's too hard. Passed mine this Monday first try. I bought official dvla theory test practice. ( it's called "safe driving for life") I did about 20min a day for good 2 weeks. If you put your mind to it u can do it.
Yes it's to do with attention span and the fact that IQ is falling but I imagine this also has a LOT to do with demographics, considering the regional variation.
hey spicy totallly agree with revision is everything , iam 62 and passed my cbt and theory back in feb this year i failed my first theory by one question but it was my fault i did revise but at the end of the theory it ask you if you want to check your answrs and i said no stupid mistake I ride a 125 sym jet 14 scooter when i did my cbt i found it harder to work the mortor bike than the scooter my problem was i was messing up the gear change all the time so opted for automatic and have not looked back since great little scooter . One question like i said i ride a 125 if i do my test only gomnna go for the A2 licence and want the bergman 400 my question is cos i need my bike for work and riding in windy conditions blow me alover the road would i have the same problem with the 400 even though it is heavier thanks in advance the name is andrew by the way
Yes as it is computer based they can be read to you. However, the issue for many dyslexics is not reading, it is information retention when learning from the written word.
Entitled generation, maybe, think they know everything and been told they can do/be anything they like without effort. Now I'm an old fart and took all my tests back when it was a one stop deal, ride around the block, don't fall off and don't run me over if I jump out in front of you to do an emergency stop were my instructions when I took my bike test from the examiner. Easy, but the true fear, that would be the 3 maybe 4 random questions at the end from the highway code. I read that little book time and time again for weeks before I had my test, not passing due to getting this part wrong was not an option and if you did and your mates found out, oh boy!
This could be controversial be the bike test should be hard. It should weed out the people with no attention span or no willingness to improve their skill and knowledge. At the end of the day if you get things wrong on a bike you're going to get messed up.
You mention a few times that you are dyslexic. My son is the same, but if you contact the DVLA to book your theory test, you are allowed extra time to take the test to give you a chance to read and understand the questions before answering. There is always things out there to help you do your test and pass it.
Yes, the theory test is too hard. I've been riding for over 30 years, just took the gov practice test online and got 42 out of 50.....the 8 wrong ones were bad guesses at questions like "What might a lorry do at a junction" with 4 things it could well do and no option for "all of the above". Apparently, 42 out of 50 is a fail.
@@spicy110 I did get one of the hand signals wrong, but I haven't read the highway code since 1991...and who the hell uses hand signals in this day and age?
The theory test is really easy i mean really really easy. Without studying i could pass it and maybe only get 1 question wrong. Hazard awareness is easy as well once you have worked it out.
I think you missed an obvious reason for failing theory tests. There has been a massive increase in non native English speakers taking the test, and a big overlapping group that hasn't grown up around British road signs.
As a young person whose attention span has gotten absolutely shagged due to the existance of short form content, which is something i deeply regret and am actively trying to resolve it (slowly but surely getting there), i do agree with you. Another mistake I made that I regret was the fact that I perfectly fit into your description of people who did not revise for the test at all, all I did were 2 mock tests which i passed so I got cocky and thought"pfft, I've been riding for 2 and a half years i can easily pass my theory", and proceeded to take the test and fail it by 2 points. Some people were just telling me it was purely bad luck just to make me feel better which may have partially been true, but what is DEFINITELY true is the fact that if I had revised I would've passed it and not had the need to re-do it now.
I think a lot of Generation Z and later Millennials have a sense of entitlement that prevents them from putting the effort in and actually earning rewards.
lol- "too hard," too funny. no harder than having your skull crushed, spine fractured or neck broken due to inattention. just staudy for it .. hard. kids wants stuff too easy these days. " exams are too hard, please introduce a new exam and stadard so we can pass" LMAO 🤣
I did one mock test online then passed first time. i genuinely believe that failing more than once should prevent people from ever driving. I don't want to be on the road with someone who passed after 20 attempts

Yep, I agree. And definitely driving us absolutely the most dangerous thing anyone can do, I believe that a driving licence is a privilege not a God given right. They only need one question on the Theory test.
Does indicating -
A) Show other drivers that you intend to move over once it is safe to.

I'll be sitting both MODS from March if I can get them booked/holidays off work🤞
I worried about failing the theory but sailed through it after a couple of months with that app.
It’s not getting harder, the youth are getting dumber, every year my wife meets another group of young adults who can’t read, write or tell the time…
I asked an apprentice to tighten a bolt 180 degrees, he looked at me stupid, so I said tighten it from 12 til 6 …..”you want me to tighten it for 6 hrs”…….Trust me I was impressed it knew that was six hours 🤣😂
I'm def in the older category! 😀 and yup... agree 100% 😀
Something I struggled with in the RN was learning all the BS those with gold on their shoulders deemed important, what I didn't struggle with was ever fixing the sonar equipment on the submarine, so I get that there are differences in people's academic ability, but the things in the theory test are not academic, they are literal things that every road user needs to know, and the list is not a long one, but it is all relevant to the task rather than BS you learn to pass a test.... much like my time in the RN, I absorbed the knowledge that allowed me to do my job, but had no time for the BS that just made an officer happy.... the theory test has none of that BS, it is rules, gun drills, basics.
I have no sources for this, but if your world view is that the government (or “powers that be” residing over these isssues) is trying to make it safer for everyone in traffic, what I say here is just logic…
On the other hand, in case you believe that the government is “out to get you” (or something similarly), then you don’t believe me, and I’m either a government shill or “dumb enough to be duped by the rules”…
Just because we are at the center of our consciousness, doesn’t mean that everything else revolves around us specifically, and seemingly more and more people subscribe to the thoughts that “if it affects me it is designed this way for (or against) me (or any group/category)”, and that is just to egotistical…
I totally agree with you. Oh yeah, I'm a wheelchair user, and I do have difficulty with stairs.
I would like them to raise the standards of the theory test another 20 questions. We need to weed out the stupid people
They should raise the standards of the car driving test too, it's so easy
It's not the theory test the examiners are failing the pupils on, it's the practical.
There's an examiner who lost his job & is being taken to court for defamation for whistle blowing the fact that examiners have to fail a certain percentage.
I am talking about the theory test, I am specifically replying to many many comments I have read over the years and the research study that was done.
Have you got a link about this case you refer to?
@spicy110 yeah, I'll see if I can dig it out for you. Although, he was on about the car test. I'm presuming it's across the board & includes the bike test.
@spicy110 ua-cam.com/video/ouDGrDXWH5I/v-deo.html&si=Ina-1wkZXaVSsnRR
It's about an hour long.
I seem to remember questions about heart attack first aid and trams 😂
Failed both mod 1 and 2 twice though lol
Or you could just click when you see a hazard
You are bang on right spicy I see this every day at work it seems to be anyone under the age 30
Bingo I was only talking about this just now with my other half. The hazard perception wants you to be reactive, not proactive.
Agree with 100% you dude. Gone to soft upstairs..
No but you can try it for free on the gov site www.gov.uk/take-practice-theory-test
Btw that was a great idea I have just taken that test and filmed it. You will see it on this channel in the near future. 🙂👍
I have been driving for over forty years and I have never been able to memorise stopping distances but I know what they look like in reality. 😂
I totally agree with what you’re saying
I was gobsmacked to read someone on Reddit looking for advice on how to pass his theory test as he'd failed 3 times. Said he'd been using the app(s) but there were questions in the test that hed never seen in any app before.
Turns out he hadn't even read the highway code, but was solely relying on mock tests to 'learn' the correct answers. 🙄
In the last 50 years it would be easy to say that people have become more stupid .But in this case I agree with you .They have just become too lazy to learn ,and people that know nothing are often mistaken as being stupid .
It's as hard as you make it. Put the work in and it's passable.
Thanks for the vid. I have my bike theory test booked for Jan!
Good luck!
@@spicy110i passed! 😄👌🏼easy ha
The questions are pretty easy. The hazard perception is a load of bollox though. Alot of the clips you need to be mystic meg to predict the hazard before its even occured in the frame.
This is where chat GPT will come in very useful. Making the theory test even much harder will not make riders any safer (which the gov seem to think)
You have to actually practice it in real life to be safer.
And a certain amount of common sense.
Not directly related to the theory test but we have a real issue with young people not learning things at work. As more and more qualifications we rely on are based on coursework not exams we are finding that people getting to interview are google foo experts rather than subject experts. It’s the same problem but in a different scenario.
Yep, that's exactly it! The thing they miss is, knowing it all IS what gives you a real understanding not just knowing answering to the pop quiz.
Is it a right or is it a privilege? It has to be the later as you need to prove yourself first. 🙂👍
Usa "test" is a joke
I've done practice theory tests multiple times and passed every time.
I’ve got a full A1 license and now want to upgrade to the full A, DVLA have just told me I will have to do the theroy test again as well as mod 1 and mod 2? I thought it was just mod 1 and 2
I have replied to your first comment.
A Question for you Spicy, when you brake on front break 2 finger or 4 finger??
I have short levers so it's 2-3. The whole mit if it is an emergency.
The theory test is not hard, but youngsters of today can't be bothered to read the highway code. They just do the practice test, thinking that the questions will be the same
Throw your phone out the window, read a book and look up. Welcome to real life.
No, keep the phone to use the apps haha
I really don't think it's too hard. Passed mine this Monday first try. I bought official dvla theory test practice. ( it's called "safe driving for life") I did about 20min a day for good 2 weeks. If you put your mind to it u can do it.
Yes it's to do with attention span and the fact that IQ is falling but I imagine this also has a LOT to do with demographics, considering the regional variation.
I didn't even read the highway code and passed, its stupidly easy.
hey spicy totallly agree with revision is everything , iam 62 and passed my cbt and theory back in feb this year i failed my first theory by one question but it was my fault i did revise but at the end of the theory it ask you if you want to check your answrs and i said no stupid mistake I ride a 125 sym jet 14 scooter when i did my cbt i found it harder to work the mortor bike than the scooter my problem was i was messing up the gear change all the time so opted for automatic and have not looked back since great little scooter . One question like i said i ride a 125 if i do my test only gomnna go for the A2 licence and want the bergman 400 my question is cos i need my bike for work and riding in windy conditions blow me alover the road would i have the same problem with the 400 even though it is heavier thanks in advance the name is andrew by the way
i think u can have them read the questions to you on theory test
100% I did talk about that a while ago but totally forgot for this one.
I just took the same test and made a video doing it. I got some wrong, not gonna say if I passed or not that would ruin the fun haha
@@spicy110 I did get one of the hand signals wrong, but I haven't read the highway code since 1991...and who the hell uses hand signals in this day and age?
@@swoop1352 There are still lots of classic/vintage bikes around without indicators, and it's the same licence to ride them.

Shocked to hear you say fail a cbt I thought it was just training and not a test😮
You either get a certificate at the end of your cbt or you don't. That's basically a test
The theory test is really easy i mean really really easy. Without studying i could pass it and maybe only get 1 question wrong. Hazard awareness is easy as well once you have worked it out.
If you can't pass a simple theory test you shouldnt be in charge of any motor vehicle on a public road, simple
theory test isnt hard, the hazard awareness part is utter crap
I wish I could disagree, but it is hard to deny. Not all of course but many.
no, they're not
lol- "too hard," too funny. no harder than having your skull crushed, spine fractured or neck broken due to inattention. just staudy for it .. hard. kids wants stuff too easy these days. " exams are too hard, please introduce a new exam and stadard so we can pass" LMAO 🤣
😂😂😂
I did one mock test online then passed first time. i genuinely believe that failing more than once should prevent people from ever driving. I don't want to be on the road with someone who passed after 20 attempts
