Gives me goosebumps watching this and I’ve driven cars and vans and towed some serious stuff for 30 years. I really fancy having a crack at the cbt/das
Looking up was prompted to me a lot on my recent CBT. My take away from that and this excellent video into my MOD 1 and 2 is keep my head up and look where I want the bike to go and not the deck. Many thanks for posting this video.
We have a new rider in our group, been sharing your beginner vids on to her, have been helping her with bike control at slow speed, but im no trainer, so watching the vids and my input has made great progress, she passed cbt few months ago but only recently bought her first bike, so was not confident getting on the bike, great vid and thankyou for sharing
I have been absolutely humbled, I have passed my CBT and have clicked up roughly 800 miles. These students are faaaar better than me at slow riding / manoeuvring. Bravo team. You have all set the bar very high. Teaching was treeeemendous as well.
Get yourself down a car park once a week for half hour/hour. Im similar passed my cbt in october. Mod1 coming up so i finally started to actually practice in my own time. Makes a world of difference. I feel pretty confident i could pass the mod1 now without any further training just due to doing drills on my own rides
This guy is AMAZING I’m going to be doing my das very soon and the way this guy is training is putting my anxiety at ease so much ! Il be highly considering you as an option!
i'm booking a cbt soon, i've never ridden a motorbike but have driven a car for 20 years and a lot of mountain biking so i'm hoping i will be able to pick it up ok
Brings me back to my training. Haven't ridden a bike since I passed my A-license in August, sadly. This kinda gives me that slow speed maneuvering feel back, I like it. As soon as I get a chance I'll go out there and train on my own!
19 year ago in April I was learning this very thing but in my CBT on 125cc. Rules were different back then there was only one test, after direct access course.
I have my CBT booked for the 10.02.24 and I have been really concerned about the slow control movements, I’ll be in a manual 125cc as I have bought a MT125 22 plate. I understand this was to get these lads ready for the DAC, however this really has given me an insight into some of the expectations required for the CBT, and has calmed my nerves, I think I’ll be fine out on the road having been driving on the roads for 13 years. Thanks a lot and keep up the content!
Hi thanks for your comments. I wish you well with your cbt. Slow control is one of the more challenging techniques but with practice becomes very usable. Please have a look at my slow riding videos if you think they may help. All the best
Good old DAS. Passed 31/12/22 Just before the new year literally perfect timing. So as you can Imagine i had a great start to 2023 Also due to the timing i did all lessons and test in wet conditions and passed everything 1st time. The only thing i did do was booked a extra mod1 session.
Wow - Shame that I am in Aberdeenshire as the standard of instruction you provide and general manner is awesome. Maybe I'll consider a few weeks down south to get stuck in to DAS with you! Just finished my CBT 3 weeks ago, so a long way to go!
i riden for nearly a year and my bike got stolen when it was left at college when i was taken into hospital for 4 days i had the chance to go friday to collect i choose monday... it was gone on sunday. havent had a bike since that was just a 50cc gilera dna. I want to do the direct access and hope to someday get back on a bike it was very very liberating to habe that option as a young adult. I have a car now mind but i miss the bike. Edit: i wasnt ever told about looking up and keeping eyes up. I learnt that after i passed, needed the extra vision on whats happening vans and lorrys etx harder to see us.
Your students look like they knew what they were doing. Your instruction is excellent. I'd consider a DAS with your self - but I already have a license. Question (might seem ambivalent) difficult to ask, with the way PC works nowadays, how many riders (or wannabe riders) are just not cut out for riding? (... either you got it or you don't....) Have you ever shook your head?
Thanks for your kind comments, much appreciated. I can say that in 14 years of training I can only think of 4 people who couldn’t successfully ride a motorcycle; all for various reasons. Sometimes I do shake my head but I find most mistakes are good learning opportunities. It’s usually fun. The joy of training motorcyclists is that largely they are enthusiastic about biking and want to learn. I count myself fortunate to have trained some great students over the years. All the best.
Thanks for your comments, keep practicing is the way forward! If your skill levels have dropped since cbt always consider a refresher from an instructor. Most of us are very happy to help out
Despite CBT DAS & other stuff done ......Content still of interest &/or value to me... I still make effort to maintain & improve basics & slow control skills. I also found interest in the instruction & style of same. Thanks for vid & sharing 👍🏍😊
Thanks for your question. Its a while ago now but probably because he was at a different stage of experience and was going to demonstrate and practice skills on the smaller bike before moving onto the bigger one. Its quite usual when someone is inexperienced and an instructor hasn't seen them ride before just to check out skill levels, especially clutch control. Often a student may request the start on the smaller bike to gain confidence. All the best
Great video, thanks for sharing! Coupe of questions - what bike(s) are the attendees using? And Broadly speaking, is krna good idea to go straight from CBT to DAS? I passed my CBT recently and have been told to go straight into a DAS course to avoid picking up bad habits. Trying to figure out the cost/benefit of practicing in my own time (and cost) for a while before applying for a DAS course or going for a DAS sooner. For background I have driven a car for 15 years too
Love all your videos! Always watching them for tips. Can I just ask though what camera you are using please and how/where it is attached? Quite like the quality and setup, thanks!
Thank you. I have a GoPro hero8 attached on a chin mount. Recording 4k at 30fps. 60fps would be better but my processor struggles with the extra data. All the best
I have a question, when I did my cbt I did it on an automatic moped if I was to do one of these direct access course could they show me how to use a manual bike or would I have to learn it via other means?
Hi, it is likely that learning gears on your direct access is not a good idea. A good school should be able to teach you gears as separate lessons and depending on your competency then put you on a course or suggest some time riding on your cbt on a manual bike. Good luck with it. 👍
I wish i watched more or your video before i applied to become an instructor myself. You are brilliant mate, well done! Do you guys need any instructors? ;)
thank you for your kind comments much appreciated. Good luck with the instructing, i hope you enjoy it as much as i do. We dont at the moment Im afraid, the season is quietening down a bit now. All the best
It depends which country issued the licence and whether the uk has an exchange agreement with that country. You can use the tool on gov.uk to see if you qualify for exchange. If you dont then the process would be to apply for a UK provisional licence then complete cbt and pass theory and module 1&2 motorcycle tests.
This is awesome training. You're a very clearly spoken instructor. Are these bike suitable for a rider of 5ft 5? ( 29" inseem ). Are they Honda 500cc? . Thanks, good luck.
I'm loving your videos, brilliant instructor. I'd feel confident doing DAS with you. I'm in Blackpool though.. What's the average amount of riding experience people usually have on their CBT before they go for DAS?
Thanks for your kind comments, glad to be of help. The timescales can vary a lot, but some students have passed after a 5 day course which was cbt on day 1. I wish you well with your training
This video is awesome, these riders are confident as heck! I’m looking to do my Direct Access Scheme due to being 25 but I am a complete novice with bikes (I would just stick with a 125cc but I need a higher engine for long distance work commitments), would this be possible or am I dreaming a silly dream?
It’s very possible. Everyone learns at different rates and ability varies. A good training school will be able to help you reach your goals. Get your cbt done then work on bigger bike handling to prepare for das. I wish you well .
Hey there. i am 19 years old and looking to get into riding. From my understanding, i would need to complete a CBT and the theory test, and then would it be possible to do a Direct Access Course to an A2 licence? Or would it have to be the standard of applying for A1 and hold for 2 years before A2? I appreciate the age of this video but I’m overwhelmed and a response would be great. Cheers!
Hi thanks for your question. Don’t worry about the ages of videos, I try to keep them all relevant to whenever they are viewed. Ok, so licensing can seem confusing. Yes you need to start with CBT. A1 is the only full license available to 17-18 year olds. At 19-23 you can do your A2 license. Direct access A license is 24+. Progressive full license is available after 2 years full A2. As you say, a theory test pass is required before you can do an A2 license. I hope this helps, all the best
Thanks for the response, so i’d need to go the entire route being CBT, theory, A1 mods and hold that for 2 yrs before applying to A2 mods and getting a max 47 bhp bike?
Hi, I’m this video I’m just training to get them ready for an intensive course. Once trained they do a four day course with both test modules 1 and 2 on day 4. Different schools do different things but that is our norm. All the best
Hi, you won’t need a cbt but depending on your age you may need a valid theory test. Please see this link assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/62137c89d3bf7f4f05879a1e/how-to-get-a-motorcycle-licence.pdf
Got my CBT in a few hours. That was some of the best training and instruction I’ve observed on UA-cam.
I hope my training is a good as this.
thank you, hope you enjoy your cbt, all the best

Just got mine last week at 41, same. You'll smash it! 🎉👍
I'm 60 next year. Is it too late for me? Never driven a motorcycle. Searching you tube to see if I'm completely crackers.

Did my CBT Sunday just gone and the figure of 8 was the hardest part of the day
