There is far too much rubbish on the internet for people to sift through when learning to ride, this is a life skill where corners should not be cut to save money. Cheap training very often is lacking and when you consider there are over 60 life changing accidents per day on todays busy and congested roads, the Module 2 pass is only the start of life on two wheels.

Before you make any comments - read this:
The video shows a motorcycle instructor riding a test route, followed by another instructor. There are no lifesavers carried out by the person behind with the video camera filming the test route, as it would take the camera off the lead rider and you would miss some valuable information. The two riders were in constant radio communication and made sure it was safe to complete the video to help learner riders pass their motorcycle test in the UK.
Just passed my mod 2
20 mins ago, I have nobody to thank but this guy
Is that only from the Video or did you undertake training with them?
Well done dude 😜
video only. trust me its all you need this guy knows how to ride
@@MK-wt2sp load of bs, you passed your mod2 with only seeing videos on youtube and that translated into already having the knowledge how to manoeuvre a bike? You should definitely do lessons and learn to ride before you attempt your £200 test
@@RottensFTW I know how to ride a bike but why the lessons? everything he mention was in the CBT for me. Simple stuff. Just looking for abit more insight
if any of you guys are nervous you cant be worse than my first test... Tight bend on a country road with trees either side so i couldn't see. Massive tractor filled the road and i tried to stop on the edge which turned out to be a massive camber and i dropped my bike in a ditch. You guys will be fine.
Hold my beer...
shit happens
Did you pass mate?
lol
@@kiradotee Yeah second try was good :)
Love the way the instructor never checks over his shoulders
That’s not the instructor the person in front is the learner doing their test. The instructor is the dude with the camera recording
@taihanhussain6656 he knows... he's saying how the instructor (cam rider) never check over his shoulder
They usually wont as they're watching the rider, they're more than experienced enough to just use mirrors.
I’ve passed my full bike license but watching this gives me anxiety all over again 😂
I’m shittin it
Rothy Frags You got it booked?
Dougie Haggerty as soon as I have the money too. Not far off. I think mod 2 and theory will be ok but the mod 1 I’m just shitting myslef because of the course memory.
Rothy Frags ah right, yeh it’s pretty extortionate tbf. Yeh I wasn’t a fan of Mod 1 and failed it first time on the U turn. It just feels artificial doing manoeuvres in a car park like that. Best advice for it is honestly just to try and relax and not get too bothered if you fail, happens to the best of us and honestly I failed both Mod1 and Mod 2 once and that’s after 5 years of riding on a CBT lol (went over the speed limit in mod2). It’s a pain but it’s not the end of the world having to re-take them and the majority of people will fail one, good luck for you though when you get around to it
Dougie Haggerty can I talk in more detail to you elsewhere ?
I passed my MOD2 today 20-6-23 at 1pm.Feels great and im looking at a new bike much bigger than my old 125.
This is perfect! You can see what the learner is doing (all the signaling, etc), hear commentary, hear examiners instructions. And even a still zoomed in picture of speed restriction signs! 10 out of 10. 👏
Thanks
Passed my Mod2 this morning (no minors) and this video was instrumental.
Thank you so much for putting this together! ❤
Well done, glad it helped. Can we use your comments in our marketing? Thank you and greta news...
@@MotorcycleRidersHub yes, no problem at all!
19:40 car overtaking as you're both doing 30 in a 30, while going past a junction on the right, a parked car to the left forcing the novice to move to the right, and having a vehicle opposing approaching. And it probably says "Instructor" or "Examiner" on your Hi-Viz.
Some people.
That car driver could do with a retest, or some other punishment.
What a twit - he ended up having to squeeze by an oncoming car and he had to stop at the lights anyway.
That felt like the longest 35 minutes ever!
I was nervous for the rider
pmsl same! I kept checking how long the video was on for... christ I think I was on the bike taking the test !
😂 Made me feel sick going for my mod 1 soon
@@user-http55588 you will be fine....I passed my mod 1 today with zero minors!
@@marialomas7455 well done hope my results are the same fingers crossed lol
@@user-http55588 you will be just fine! Just dont jump up and down like a little school girl like I did.....must of looked like a right muppet doing that but I was so excited to have passed!!!!
Really refreshing to see from the instructors perspective. While the learner is doing it by the book, the instructor doesn’t do a single lifesaver or observe the two second rule because he knows all too well how unnecessary they are. You know when you need to check, there shouldn’t be a quota for how many times you should be looking behind you every ten seconds.
I think it’s not helmet cam, maybe Lifesavers are unnecessary. But a 2 second rule is great for newer riders, as it enables them to have enough time to react to stuff they never would of reacted to before.
When you're a learner there is a certain way you need to do things so that you're up to the 'standard'. With experience, you can adjust your riding style. Just because something is good or ok for someone advanced/experienced doesn't mean a newbie can do it safely.
That is a top notch observation and made me lol because its so true!!!
I hadn't noticed that!
@@callummclaine9160 the camera is mounted to the side of the helmet so you would see when the instructor does a life saver.
But they are useful especially in England with tons of deliveroo drivers getting their CBT and flying by you, I use them when I’m in town but when I’m just out on the open road I don’t, unless overtaking
7:28 we can see the instructor's head take a slight dip to the left then right then back up and then it closes the distance to the student. I think the instructor has just checked his mirrors.
Also other road users will see 2 motorcycles in high visibility waistcoats. Other road users are likely to be more careful towards these two motorcycles. "Examiner" or "Instructor" in big letters.
Do you think the examiner/instructor is focusing on the learner so they cannot do their own lifesaver in case they miss something by the student?
I started riding in 1959, bothered to take the test in 1962 and still learnt one or two things watching this thanks. Just to give a laugh my clutch cable snapped as I approached the test centre, quickly into an ironmongers, bought some string, attached it clutch lever routed string to handlebar with a loop on it to stop it falling off. No clutch change up, yank the string for down. Yes I passed :-D
That is aces!!
Thanks, nice story
Very very cool story
I really enjoyed my mod 2 test, I treated it like a ride out on a nice day. Hated the mod 1 and pebble dashed the test centre toilet because of nerves. Good video for anyone with a test coming up.
exactly! Because thats what it is, a nice ride out!
Hahaha had my MOD1 yesterday and can relate to the pebble dashing… happy to say I passed though and MOD2 is next week
@@forzasquid7963 I did indeed.
@@forzasquid7963 ahh unlucky but sure you’ll get it next time. I also failed once but passed second time, made a silly mistake the first time around but everything went perfectly on the second. Got myself a KTM 790 Duke which I love
It's been a year now. I need to ask the question on everyone's minds.
Did they manage to clean up the toilets?
Keep to the signs to the speed limit, well yeah bloody would if you could see the signs half the time, either graffiti, overgrown bushes/trees covering them.
The "learner" gave an excellent example of a test. The "examiner" didn't give a single Lifesaver or keep to the 2 second rule. He was always less than a second from the bike in front. Still, very informative, and definitely worth a watch
Only a fool breaks the two second rule.
That is because even the examiner knows the rules are bullshit!
I cant wait to pass my mod 2, so I can ride my way.
Actually the examiners as a buffer zone between the candidate and inconsiderate cagers.
Sorry, but what is a "lifesaver"?
@@MrEye4get it's what we're calling shoulder checks these days
It is 2023 Dec, the video is still the best Mod 2 test I get prepared and set real-life expectations. Thanks!
Thank you
This was one of three videos i watched tirelessly whilst I prepared for my module 2 test. Finally i passed on my 3rd attempt just before Christmas and got my shoulder checks, lifesaver checks etc finally in place especially approaching junctions. It's the greatest feeling ever to have finally passed and this video and others were a huge help. 😎👌
Can I ask what you failed on in the previous tests?
@@Wayneebrum Was gonna ask the same. Shame he hasn't replied.
@@Wayneebrum just seen you're reply. Apologies for not getting back sooner. I remember i failed on not indicating at the right exit on a roundabout. Positioning was wrong. This was ages ago. I've been riding nearly for two years now. No points or endorsements so far 🙂🙏
@@rossco010 apologies, just seen both replies.
This motorcycle test is like a military exercise
3:17 Student did life saver, but the instructor never? Cmon, practice what you preach!!!
possibly has a separate mirror that checks blind spot
The instructor doesn't have to check his blind spot, he already has his license, they are showing you want a learner needs to do pass.
Do as I say, not as I do.
most likely is watching learner to see if he is doing the correct checks.
@@Near2Future Funny thing about lifesavers. In advanced riding some training authorities are really keen on them and want them at all time even before you go to the toilet but some others aren't bothered as much.
My older brother rode a powerful scooter for more than 20 years and commuted to work and did 18.000 mile per annum. that 360.000 miles and as he says he never ever gave a lifesaver and never suffered an accident. [ they were never ever required in the test in the 1960's ] Was he just lucky or not. Forgetting or failing to do lifesavers is one of the first things a motorcyclist fails to do once they have passed their test and many don't suffer by it.
Just passed my mod 2 today on second attempt. Happy to say no minors. Lots of drivers on the roads made my job quite a bit harder. Only advice that I would like to give is , ride for yourself, don’t worry about where the examiner is positioned. Imagine he or she is just a voice in your ear.
Well done, brilliant news

Watching this again is so nostalgic. I passed about 5 years ago I think, I used to watch loads of video. I used to get so nervous....like everyone I suppose. I used my own bike bandit 600..... Did my test in Llandrindod Wells..... Basically easiest place to pass in the UK. Been great since. Ridden a blackbird 2 up at 160mph.that was a shock. Now living in Europe for 2 years, haven't ridden a bike as its too dangerous. Just took it with me as an ornament and something to ride occasionally.
Passed my Mod 2 today! Thanks for making such a useful video. It definitely helped me out 😀

I would have liked this video to have been available when I was doing DAS last year. I looked at so many videos to get an idea of EVERYTHING! This one is the most informative, (shame it's a bit late!) Great commentary. Very informative and such a calm and reassuring voice! Yes, I'm very sad looking at videos like this after the fact but I do feel quite proud of myself as I never even contemplated riding a motorcycle until my other half suggested DAS. I'm 49 now! I'm so glad he did and I've never looked back. Good luck everyone doing tests now. It's well worth it especially with videos like this to help you.
Never looked back? How did you pass your test??
I'm 54, been driving cars all my life and now preparing for my MOD 1 and 2. Going to try it without formal tuition - just riding a little on a 125 for a month or so and also watching a TON of videos like this one. Can't wait.
What an excellent video ! I'm going to watch this over and over again before my DAS in a few months time. Thank you to all who put this together.
Thanks
wow amazing instruction thanks a lot keep teaching us.
Excellent video. Thank you!
So helpful THANKS
Great video, so useful. Thanks
I failed my Mod 2 today at this exact route in Redditch, at minute 33:03 on the left turn. A white van was parked near the turn making it extremely difficult to see any pedestrians on the road, so when I went in, I should have stopped as there were two pedestrians prepared to cross (which didn't cross, but still I should have stopped). Extremely unlucky, that has been an instant fail, and right before getting back to the test center. Until then, 0 faults. I'll try again in two weeks but for anyone: BEWARE to pedestrians, always keep your eyes on!
Update: I passed today in Redditch, this video has been very helpful especially for the area around the Test centre! Thank you!

Lucky guy, hardly any traffic, my MOD 2 was peak lunchtime through a city, industrial estate and then onto a choka dual carriageway with a million trucks, cars, tractors, forklifts across road and vans etc. Way more easier when the traffic is calm!
Excellent video mate, thumbs up!
I got my mod 2 on Friday. I really hate that I can’t speak to the examiner. What if I don’t hear his instructions clearly. On a car or hgv test you can always explain the logic behind your actions for example; I’m just going to hold back a bit as this lorry that is indicating right at the roundabout is going to take a wide swing or I have chosen the wrong lane but the road is clear behind me so I will make a lane change. On a motorcycle you just have to hope your examiner understands why you are doing what you are doing.
well if you listen to what they said at the start you should of heard him say if you miss an istruction carry on and i will give you a new instruction
I agree with u. I was on my way to do my mod1 and the instructor was telling me to turn right but the driver of the vehicle at the giveaway lines on my right has pulled upto the junction looking to his right the whole time so he hasn't seen us and the instructor starts shouting for me to go but I didn't and the driver pulled out looked at us shocked not realising we are waiting and hit his breaks in a panic. If I had gone ge would have ran me over.
@@humblegainz4692 I hope he understood why you didn't go?? Did you pass or piss him off?
Excellent video👍🏾

This actually looks like a tough test as the instructor has set up a couple of traps to test planning and awareness. Very good instructor and clearly wants to make sure you are ready to go it alone on a bigger machine...fair play.
You're allowed to trick the student?
@@rabbychan no he’s chatting breeze
@@rabbychanNah just like waiting for a section with bus stops or houses to ask the student to pull over, rather than just asking on an empty stretch of road.

Excellent...I watched this constantly and Moto Ecosse ...I'm sure they helped me pass first time...thank you 👍
Great news, well done
Sometimes it strikes me that the lifesaver left when indicating left at a roundabout is a bit superfluous. You are not changing lane and the attention should probably be the space to the right. I suppose it depends on the roundabout as well, but my CBT instructor said always do the lifesaver where the space is.
Edit: When I did my truck licence the mirror check was always left to check for things such as bicycles or motorcyles. If you are on a motorcycle, you are going to see anything joining as you go past the previous entrance so it just strikes me the lifesaver left is taking a full half second attention away from where the danger is.
Yeah that's great advice. A lifesaver is never wrong if you think you need to check. You have some good information from your trainer.
Very helpful 👍
I'm glad I found this video, I've been arguing with people online regarding how to brake... I was taught that you should release the front brake when slowing and use the rear only, to stop front end dive and potential of tipping the bike. Others have said they just stop with the front and have never heard of such a thing. Good to know I'm not going insane...
Rear brake only when below 10mph. That was my training from cbt and onward.
I always use a little bit of both, but yes mostly rear when coming to a stop. Just covering the front with a tiny bit of pressure so I can use it if my rear slips on gravel while filtering
Thank you so much for this Module 2 test video! So helpful for me to Pass my exam first attempt today morning 😊👍👍👍 Thank you million times!!

Some Mother Do Have Em Moped Test.
I came, I saw this video, and I passed! 👍
Brilliant news, well done
looks good i was wondering how come needs so much space from the car in front when in red?
Hi RMT, at 21:20 ish he pulled over as instructed, did it matter that he pulled into a cycle lane?
If anyone is worried about the mod 2 test, I can assure you it’s a lot easier and smoother going then you’d think! Just keep an eye out for traffic lights and keep on top of your signals and observations. Good luck everyone
Great video for a beginner. One thing I'd change is at 5:50 you tell viewers to maintain the centre of the lane using counter steering. It feels highly redundant as counter steering is the only way to steer a motorcycle (well, except for turning the bike using feet while standing and riding off-road). Counter steering applies at all speeds and to both motorcycles and bicycles. I really hope that this "only counter steer at speed" myth will go to rest soon.
Very helpful videos mate, settles me down
Hope you get through your test
Just passed my Mod 2 test from Mitcham! 2nd attempt.
Hey Brother I just wanna ask is test difficult?
What bike and cc they give for test

I am going to try for the test but following my sons diagnosis of learning difficulties some years ago, I am utterly petrified! I now realise, at sixty, that I have just the same issues going on.
I always assumed I was just a bit gormless but now I know that I have to work out left and right each time and I have difficulty retaining instructions.
Sadly I don’t display any obvious overt symptoms so I sound like I am making excuses having never been formally diagnosed!😂. I could sense the instructors frustration when I did my CBT. I think I only got a pass because I agreed I probably didn’t deserve one! Wish I had done the test the first time around when it was a solo drive that if you survived then you passed!😂
It's never too late to go through the process. We'd be happy helping you over this hurdle.

Failed my Mod 2 last week, got my retest next week, watching this video several times in-between but damn I wish I was doing my test here and not South London lol
Passed my Direct access in 2014 aged 40. I had somewhat of a misspent youth where motorcycles are concerned and hadn't ridden since age 19. Did all of direct access on a Fazer 600 including my CBT. After one slalom through the cones on a 125 my instructor was happy that I wasn't a novice and bunged me on a 600 where I stayed until passing Mod 2. I had a total of 4 hours of training, 1 minor on mod 1 which was for being 1kmph under the threshold on the hazard avoidance even though my speedo actually said a whisker over 30, I'd been doing it faster during training but wasn't taking chances on the actual test. Mod 2 was a clean sheet. Since passing I've only had a couple of bikes. First a rather predictable ER6f 650 twin which was probably a good choice, I ran that for 3 years then bought a brand new MT09. I kept that through a short marriage, a shorter divorce and an unreasonably long knee jerk to a virus which amounted to about 6 years total and last year I chopped that in against and took delivery of a brand new MT10.
Great video. Takes me back. "Left leg down, right leg up." 😇
Been riding 35 years I think it’s time I took my test lol
gotta love it mark
booked next month, happy but nervous
Got to be the best video on Mod 2. Although I am not sure if there are new changes for 2022. As I have heard the instructor might just say go to this area etc. and you have to navigate your way using road signage.
But other than that, very nice video very clear and thorough. Video might look easy and I see some people say why need full training.
Trust me once you are in test conditions, the nervousness goes up to 11.
The independent ride can be done in two ways. The examiner could ask you to follow road signs or they will give you a series of directions.
Thanks for the comment
The instructor mainly wants you to be able to ride safely and controlled. Following signs to a destination is not as important. So dont worry if you mess up following the signs to a destination.
My palms are sweaty just watching this 🙈😂
LOL, mine were doing the video!
