- This BMW didn't like me filtering past him, Note he may look close in the mirror but it is even closer in real life. You might not believe me from the video but that Citroen driver saw the issue! "GET HIM" Hahaha

Shame you can't get them armoured, I'd snap one up.
Today i had an eastern European in a bmw convertible look directly at me then cut me up haveing to slam on my breaks, i used my horn and he said he was going to kill me, i really need to get a camera, should i buy a second hand ghost drift s ?
Over here in Oz what you did is illegal. Lane filtering is only allowed between multiple lanes moving in the same direction. Lucky for you guys if that’s legal in the UK...maybe the bmw needs education. Not that it’s okay to do what he did, very dangerous which makes him a fuckwit. However people do get confused with road rules.
@@paulsheehan2998 yer lots have asked that but I don't believe armoured hoodies are very good and I am defo no making protective gear that if it failed someone would get hurt. That's why I don't make them 🙂

Yeah I understand mate, it's a good campaign though, car drivers need to be made aware. In the last few months I've had more than a few people try and close the gaps between cars so I can't get through when filtering. So many where I've decided to buy a camera incase I get into an accident because of it.
Keep up the good work bud, cracking channel and awesome campaign.
Well done for just pulling over and getting out of the danger. Makes a change to the usual rev bombs and mirror smashes you see 😂
Dougie Haggerty I feel like even the guy in the black car behind him wanted him to smash his mirror the way he said “get him” 😂
Shit like that ain’t worth it!
Your naturally at a disadvantage and smashing someone’s car up is illegal and will only bring you more hassle you can do without in this day and age.
Having seen numerous videos on YT of riders rev-bombing etc I can agree!
Big daddy syndrome, I’m frankly surprised that you didn’t get a fake cop on a noddy bike (le velo) scolding you. I’m sure they were the only people to buy them. If you think it’s bad on a motorcycle try overtaking the traffic on a bicycle.
Isnt that mostly america though
"They will squish you in a second."
-Words to live by when you're on a bike
When I used to ride, occasionally when filtering I had cars obviously blocking me by moving slightly to one side. One even opened his door to close the gap. It is surprising how many people think filtering is illegal and by blocking it they are 'doing their bit'. This is where driver education comes in.
The entitlement is astounding. They couldn't give two fuchs whether it's legal or not, they had their feefees upset and that's that.
Thanks for posting,Well done pulling over when he tailgated you but after that IMO you got too emotional. The Paddington bare stare was always just going to piss him off again, no surprise that he then followed you. If someone is already behaving like an arse then don't wind them up even more. Don't get me wrong I've done the same when I haven't managed to nip my own emotions in the bud. Nothing happened to you but things like this easily grow into nasty accidents or even violence. Sometimes when I can tell I've pissed someone off ill give them a friendly wave ( if safe obvs!). The objectives are survival, low stress and decent progress. If you achieve those things I don't care who is wrong / who's right.
All car drivers should be made to ride a bike before getting a car licence, so they understand just how vulnerable bikers are. Great reaction from Spicy to not escalate the situation, although I was expecting to see a mirror smash :)
Shardlake. Agree with the bike before car thing 100%
Unfortunately, the idiots who drive cars in the winter ride bikes in the summer giving the rest of us a bad name.
Start off the "personal transport " chain on a push bike, then motorbike and finally car
@@JasonJohnson-yu8zf HaHa even better!
If you ride like a nut.. you don’t realize how much you startle people, zooming up on them, then riding along side them in a single lane.
Drivers know if you zig zag past them and things go badly, you and that bike can quickly be under there car , or into there wind shield.
When you pass, you can get into a head on collision.
Bounce off that and into or onto you.
I’m 58 this week, south Texas, been a licensed bike operator since 1975.
I got a bike bike..750 pounds.
Suzuki Boulevard C90T 1500cc
I race up uncrowned roads to 85 mph for a few seconds..
That’s my vice...
Splitting lanes is dangerous and it freaks people out as to how close you are to them.
My favourite thing to do is just pull up and ask “what’s up buddy?” In a nice calm voice, then if they start getting angry just say “okay I can see you’re obviously upset and don’t want to talk like a reasonable person” and then ride off, in terms of mind games it’s great coz regardless of the original event, you’ve won 😂
To be honest mate, wasn't sure that was the best/safest thing to do..yes we can filter but didn't seem quite right there..think the van driver got a bit vexed as well..been riding a few years but wouldn't attempt that one..keep it safe bud....
What a knob! Great way of dealing with it though, I might just have to take a leaf out of your book.
It's all too easy to let anger take over when you are concerned that your life is being put in danger. Good on you for staying calm and rational.
I miss the "watch me ride" intro... but gotta keep things fresh I guess :(
You handled that like an absolute boss! First of all, pulling over when the tailgating began was the best decision. You kept your cool, didn't get aggressive with him, you didn't rev your engine at him, you just got on with your journey. As usual, it didn't get him very far and when he started following you again, you had a hilarious getaway by more filterage 😂
Citroen driver is now a legend hahah.
Where are all the comments from the compilation channels asking to use this? hahhaah (I've seen just one)
I agree with you and we have the added advantage of filtering but there are times I see drivers swerving as they are on the phone and filtering can become a little risky at times. Good on you for keeping your cool.
Bare in mind these are the same drivers thay are also as likely to rear end you because they are on their phone
Well done mate, road rage is strange in the UK. It's dismissed by some as just a naughty but harmless show of bravado (think drink driving in the past which is now totally unacceptable), when its really a pathetic demonstration of fear, weakness and loss of self control.
Well done for pulling over mate! You removed any probability of road rage in one simple move!
Should have still taken his mirror off though 😂😂
Seriously - I used to break the mirrors off cars that crossed me and one day someone noted my number and reported me - lets just say that the police used a sledgehammer to crack a walnut, criminal damage (even on a low value item) can get you a HUGE fine, even if its a 1st offence like mine was.
Had something like this happen to me, nowhere safe to pull over so stuck to the speed limit, then when it hit 60 I just left him in my dust and did some over takes to just put a comfort buffer between us. If anyone has any good idea how I could have done something better please tell. Awesome reaction Spicy best way to piss them off more is to do what you did. Respect
The whole point of having a bike is that you can filter through traffic, so go for it.
What pisses people off though is if you filter through to get ahead then go slow and hold them up.
....... and knowing what traffic is like in Havant and Hayling Island [especially in the summer holiday season] I can understand why you want the bike.
👍👍
In this instance I think maybe BMW stands for = Bloody Miserable Wanker.
I hate people like this, I was doing a cbt a couple days ago and funily enough a silver BMW came that close to me he actually clipped my istructors bike's mirror with his own. I wish people could have patience but in this day and age common sense doesn't seem so common, i.e. if that gap doesn't look big enough odds are its not
Well done, he has been well educated 👏
You've got the footage, can see his plates clearly. Forward the footage to the police and move on.
They won't do anything, but if he is reported for road rage again, it's all evidence in the bag, to help ensure karma catches up to him later.
so petty, really no need to forward to the police
@@MrPreZidentZ Why not, his road rage could have caused serious harm.
@@MrPreZidentZ not really petty. Assholes like that get people hurt and killed. Even if you give it to the cops and they just store it in a file under his number plate and never look at it again, it's still worth having it there in case he decides to do it again in future and actually hurts or kills someone.
Thanks for the Video, we definitely need more of what you said, makes perfect sense, thank you for being nice! 👍
Aww I thought we were going to see some spicy road rage!
However you delt with it with typical spicy grace and humour! Thanks for the chuckle and the wonderful example of how to deal with knobs! No smashed wing mirrors here!
Much love from Yorkshire
I love the fact that I always think your somewhere i recognise then I just realise all of England looks exactly the same
If you think all of the UK looks the same then you really need to get out on your bike more. Honestly there is plenty of outstanding natural beauty in this often drab country of ours...Happy Riding.
Slippy _ lmao
Dw jokes on him when you get to next set of traffic lights and he gets stuck behind a car or bus or something, be sure to give him a little wave as you go past. Im impressed you managed to calmly pull over in that situation, nothing more agrivating that people up ur chuff.
Best way mate. some drivers think that, some of us dont drive, all we do is ride bikes. Thats not the case. There's no point put your mouth into gear or as you say taking a slice of car away with you. Just worry them.
I agree with you 90 % , because I also drive a car , a 500 abarth ,
So I think I can see both sides of the story , when I'm in my car in traffic I'm always looking in my mirror , and I always move over a little to let a bike through sometimes I get a thank you,
On my bike I say thanks for moving over ,
Glad to see you just get out the way and not be angry .
I was just thinking the same thing, some shirts to give them useful information to google at their next red light!!
This is why you get knocked off though, if that van was doing something else why you bother going to then go forward and make more of a protential accident. It is not needed. I understand filtering but was there really any need for that in the beginning... No!
Well done mate. Situation handled perfectly 👌
I've had a very similar situation, where I filtered past the second car in a queue of traffic and the light changed, so I claimed my place between the first and second car. But the car now behind me was getting incredibly, incredibly dangerously close to me whilst we were pulling away, so I had to nip in front of the first car to get away from him. Then further along, same guy caught up with me and did the same thing whilst we were in a very long queue of traffic, so I had to do a very quick shoulder check and yeet 10 cars ahead, something i would usually never do (because I don't believe I am skilled and mentally safe enough to do that). That's why, when I get a set of leathers, Imma buy your "it's legal" hoodue to wear over top. By the way, is there every gonna be a possibility of a kevlar and armoured hoodie with those filtering designs on it?
What an unpleasant man! Haven’t seen a crazy like that for years. One guy who used live near me hated bikes. He would active drive into you when you’re passing him filtering back when I was a 1st year at uni of Leeds.
Guy was nuts!
Dealt with that very well. I get far too annoyed at people like that. Fair play to tou dude. 👌🤜
Takes a real Gentleman to have your attitude 💜👍
For those that want or need to know the rule in the highway code.
Rule 88
Manoeuvring. You should be aware of what is behind and to the sides before manoeuvring. Look behind you; use mirrors if they are fitted. When in traffic queues look out for pedestrians crossing between vehicles and vehicles emerging from junctions or changing lanes. Position yourself so that drivers in front can see you in their mirrors. Additionally, when filtering in slow-moving traffic, take care and keep your speed low.
I was filtering down to the Sheriffhall roundabout on the Edinburgh by pass in rush hour when a similar BMW type closed the gap just as I approached, next thing the blues go on, on the unmarked behind him and I saw the guy smile in his mirror, soon lost the smirk when he realised they were for him and carried on into the sunset.
I would love to have heard that convo haha
You done the right thing, some car drivers just won't except anyone trying to get in front of them regardless of the vehicle. All the T-shirts in the world won't make any difference. Stay cool, stay safe.
Educate by example. Well done Spicy.
I normally quote Rule 88 at them. Sadly, many drivers use the "Myway Code" instead of the highway code. See you at Loomies some time!
People get entitled behind the wheel of a motor vehicle. In this case it's at the very least intimidation and well worth reporting but I doubt you will, please remember for the next person they do this to it may be far worse and their next target may not have the experience you do. Name and shame before it escalates beyond a UA-cam video. !!
You're a good biker with a lot of common sense, do stay safe. 😎 👍
There are a lot of drivers out there who are affronted when someone over takes them, sometimes driving slowly until there is a passing lane , then speeding up and prevent anyone getting passed. It is a strange mentality.
Spicy, great reactions to an escalating situation. The frustration would be more sweeter if you had held your position in the queue at the roundabout, wait for the BMW to pull up and stop, turn and wave goodbye at the BMW, then filter on up to the front of the queue. Keep up the good work and content, RSMF.
Spicy! Perhaps raise awareness of maximum speeds for filtering too! I got pinched for filtering at 40 on a A road dual carriageway. 👍🏻
Good too see the views up!!
By default, I suspect when on a motorcycle the fight-or-flight response is in a state of hyperarousal. Like the engine between your legs, it’s kind of a suck, squeeze, bang and blow situation. Suck in the danger, squeeze out the sympathetic nervous system, bang out an action (fight or flee) and blow out the stuff that drives decisions: catecholamines,, norepinephrine, epinephrine, estrogen, testosterone, cortisol, and dopamine. But who knows? Not me . . .
If you would have had your new 360 camera on you could have got a better video clip of him.
Love the vids keep them coming people can be annoying glad to see you being the bigger person
I think you made a poor decision to filter with the van stopped opposite a right turn. You should be able to guess what the van intends to do, so would be best waiting in position until the traffic moves. The BMW might also have wished to turn right, and if not paying attention could knock you off. Pushing to the front of the queue, which is what you did, is likely to annoy anyone. His reaction was wrong, but that is the risk you took. Once you stopped and let him pass, you should have left it at that, travel slowly for a while, let him get away. He was in a right turn lane, so you pulled alongside to irritate him further, so he then followed you again. Not surprising.
You filtered, it upset him, see his reaction, let him go, stay alive and safe. Poking the wasp nest with a sharp stick, not clever.
He could have assumed what the van was doing, and im sure he had some kind of inclination and proceded with the appropriate level of caution, but you know what they say, assumption is the mother of all fuck ups, you do what is right for you at the time. Nothing there was dangerous if you strictly follow the highway code, he made steady safe progress.
Well played sir.. cool and calm wins the day..
The problem with any sort of reaction, other than pulling over and letting them go (like you did at first) is that you risk a knife in the guts, ramming by the vehicle etc, etc.
Don’t see the point of filtering there mate was only few cars in front of you could over take later easy . You knew the van was turning could just wait two minutes in traffic . 20 years ridding motorbike I never try that .🤷🏻♂️
Well I have been riding over 13 years and I filter like most. It was a tight one but not an issue. The simple point most miss is this road is a 30 to make up the gap they had to floor it.
You reacted in the best way iv seen. Most bikers loose their shit and make it so much worse for themselves, they just make bikers look like angry fools.
Yeah, just let it go. Road rage will get you knocked off. Right with you on your logic. Second rule of self defence is compliance - makes you stronger in the end.
Wow, what a coincidence. I had the identical scenario today with a white Landrover Discovery. He went hell-for-leather to overtake me in an average speed camera zone just so he could ram his anchors on in front of me. I just hung back and he disappeared so I guess he thinks he "won". Am I "boverred"? Nah.
I'll add this one to the playlist I send to people who ask why I "need" a fast bike.
Ive had several drivers like this. Unfortunately for me ive been unable to safely pull over on the side of the road to allow them past. I just try and filter more to create a barrier between me and them.
Had this Wednesday but with an Audi, I filtered into the bike box on my bicycle and the Audi behind me sped up towards my back wheel and beeping at me before blasting passed me, only to sit at the next red light in front of me, where he then claimed "roads are for cars".
I believe it was Daryl Davis who said: You can cure ignorance but you can't cure stupidity. This is why you need to use a helmet cam and report them. Even if the police don't do anything, if they get pulled over for something minor it could affect the police's decision to add more stuff in to the pile.
@@CheapskateMotorsports oh, I do have a helmet camera, just take a look at my channel. :o
Don't remind me of Audis, had one knock me off my bike last year and she is still not admitting liability, even though, she was completely in the wrong with the road markings backing me up.
@@MrMrhughesy Oh damn.
Good on you. Stay alive. A confrontation with a car and you loose no matter how right you are........ I'd rather live to ride than get seriously injured or die.
It was a pointless bit of filtering though, no?
I had to pull over in the same way for the same reason a few months ago. But the guy pushing me was doing it when I was pushing into illegal speeds to get away from him.
ive got into fights with drivers over filtering. Literally, they got out and one of them punched me through my mx helmet[ the open part]. The irony here is, its actually ILLEGAL to cause a traffic jam. The highway code says anyone without good reason or excuse, who obstructs the highway, is guilty of an offence. Traffic jams block the highway, hence traffic jams are illegal.
Nearly got squashed on the m1 Belfast whilst filtering between traffic a lady driving a seat tried to close the gap while I was passing to squash me into a flat bed lorry. The days before helmet cams
If you ride a motorcycle in Thailand, you will see both lane splitting and filtering. Most of all, the cyclists here probably use any available lanes to get through heavy traffic. Tons of motorcycles will zigzag between the gap of cars.
Hey mate! Good to feature it in compilation? Full credited of course
Normally I say no but you can Only if the message of the video is video is conveyed. The not smashing mirrors and over reacting part.
@@spicy110 No worries mate, thanks :)
Very true words at the end of that fair play
I have no problem with filtering as long as its safe to do so, ie not going down the wrong side of the road towards on coming traffic. Or cutting people up at traffics lights to not move or hold up traffic
Nice job sir good to see you remove yourself from a dangerous situation, equally I would like to have seen his face if you had squared up to him 😂😂
I do have to say that you made a poor decision to start with, you had, by the sounds, already anticipated that the van was going to turn right (even though they were not indicating), so moving up was not safe to do so, if you would have waited in the queue and waited for the van to turn and then passed the traffic, that would have been a much safer option. The BMW driver still might have been a dick but at least it would have been 100% his fault then :)
Had a 1 series tailgating me today on the m25, really irritates me as proper dangerous. I just get out of the way like you. No point being risky staying close to people that drive like that.
Someone did something similar to me once, funnily enough it was also a bmw. Anyway , I followed them to a supermarket and Whilst they were going round with a trolley doing their shopping I smashed my trolley into his heels really hard. I just apologised carried on, leaving him to work out who I was.
Should have said "sorry mate I didn't see you" ha ha ha
Genius 🤣🤣🤣 i love this !!
Spicy.
As a new (1yr) CBT rider I'm still a bit confused as to what is defined overtaking, and what filtering..
I get filtering slowly between slow/stopped multiple lanes eg dual carriageway.
But what you did to me at least, could possibly be seen as overtaking rather than filtering... Where does the difference between one and the other start legally?
You did remain your side of the centre line so does that = filtering and overtaking if over line? Or is it filtering if the traffic is stationery? -as it was here.. to me it seems a grey area which might not be helping the attitude of some drivers.
Would appreciate your take on it. 👍
@Jake Kirk not in the UK. Filtering can be done through stopped or moving traffic. It is advisable not to filter faster than 15-20mph more than the traffic is moving at.
Honestly filtering is essentially just overtaking in a smaller space and the same laws apply. Can't overtake on a solid white line don't filter on a solid white line.
killallsuvivors I have filtered at solid white lines when there’s room, as long as you don’t cross that line it’s fine, I’ve only had someone road rage and try to block me once, in my 5 years riding I’ve almost always had drivers move over for me
@@centurybugs i do lots of illegal shit its still illegal
SPM Steve, filtering is using the same lane as the traffic you are in and overtaking is using the next lane, so your assumption is correct, lots of bikers dont actually know the difference, remember that you also have the rules for both filtering and overtaking to comply with as well.
have respect for all on the road mate that's what I say HAVE A GOOD DAY
I'd be tempted to go right round the roundabout and catch him back up, really fuck with his head
don't remain calm smash as may car wing mirrors as possible even if they weren't involved and eventually all car drivers will come to fear us and as a result they won't do anything to harm the superior road uses and the roads will be a much more harmonious place

I used to get super angry and lash out at the drivers but now I have grown out of it, as it happens quite often when you ride frequently. So I just pull to the side of the road relax and carry on with my journey.
A mirror for a near miss would be my motto.
People only learn from a bad experience.
Respect to the Citroen driver for being on your side
it was interesting to see a driver realise what was going on.
Most car drivers never even peak at the highway way code, once they have passed there theory test.
HistoryFan. What about the one's who passed their driving test 40 years ago and subsequently the advanced driving test, is a member of the I.A.M, passed the motorcycle test a good few years ago and now owns and uses three bikes ;) .....There are more of us than you think!
This is why I don't run with L plates on my 125. Some drivers get really pissed when an L passes them legally. I've noticed a huge difference not running with Ls showing and the difference is night and day. It might be down to giving more respect to fully licensed riders, maybe they think you're older and not a teen learner, or maybe that because they think you're on a bigger bike there's no point trying to bully you because you're on a faster vehicle. Anyone else notice a difference in attitude showing Ls and not????
I understand the issue and in my 125cc days I would not always have a front L plate, but I always ran a rear plate. 3 points is a big enough risk you want 6?
As you did, the best way to handle them is let them go or leave them behind. I dont think drivers like that will think about their actions or give a shit if they end up on UA-cam.
A knob is a knob
A troll is a troll.
But it's never them that get hurt, only us...

Nice one m8. Staying cool is the only way to deal with idiots like this. Riding a motorbike can be hazardous enough without doing anything to bait the trolls 🙂
Hahahaha in my country any driver does this kind of shit to riders instantly gets swarmed and of course gets drag out tied up at the side of the road until police comes
the van was turning and you just basically cut up the bmw driver when you could have held back . Also when filtering you should hold back from the lead car at the lights in case they change. Everyone on the road gets angry at riders because they filter at high speed and try to squeeze past when there is no space to and end up either rev bombing the drivers or shouting at them to move. Cars do not have to move at all out the way of riders it's up to the riders to make safe before they filter. That being said me personally if I have space and see a rider filtering move over just to be courteous but I have had many situations where they speed up from way back as traffic is starting to move then scream and shout , rev bomb and beep , in that situation I do not move at all and stay in my lane .
Very good video Mr Spicy, similar thing happened to me, I pulled over but before the back wheel was off the road he was next to me. Can I share this on my social media please?
Where is that beach you pull into at 3mins?! Is it opposite H island?

Also a Tiger 1050 owner and even prouder.😁👍
I see just as many idiotic drivers in Fiat's, Honda's, Ford's, Vauxhall's, Vans of all colours. The badge doesn't make the idiot, that idiot would be the same in any car.
Keep calm take deep breath chill out live to ride another day 👍 smashed the like out of the f**k button 😁
Someome thinks they saw someone do something illegal so breaks the law to make you aware you have done something illegal.
Is crossing into the lane of oncoming traffic considered filtering? I thought filtering was moving in traffic between cars moving in the same direction. In the states passing several cars by using any part of the wrong side of the road is considered dangerous driving. Was the first move that placed you in front of the BMW filtering?
In the UK that manoeuvre is somewhere between filtering and overtaking it depends on how you want to read the highway code
@@jamesthenakedsnake7480 Thank you James. I looked closely at the U.K. law and saw it the same way.
@@jamesthenakedsnake7480 its a bit more clear cut than that, inside the line is filtering and over the line is overtaking, rules apply for both :)
@@tonyb1223 wrong, legally speaking in the UK filtering is considered passing stationary traffic, while overtaking is passing moving traffic.
@@jamesthenakedsnake7480 read the rules, if you cross the line its overtaking, to filter you stay within the line, filtering can be done in either slow moving or stationary traffic, as i mentioned in a previous comment, lots of bikers dont understand the difference between filtering and overtaking and the rules that apply to both :)
Car drivers that are just car drivers need educating on a lot of things. Motorbikes and trucks to start off. People don't realise that bikes are indeed able to filter and they don't understand how trucks turn, be it rigid or artic.
If I have a car do the same to me, I just get progressively slower and slower. Then when they've overtaken me, I speed up and go back past them 😅 Let's me have a little fun in my day

Hey mr spicy. I love bikes but don’t even have a license. I’m 20 yrs old and think I should maybe go for an A2 license. I got a quote from a motorcycle school and said it’d cost me about £600 (not including test fees) to train me up and be ready for the tests. Do you think that that is about right or is that me getting ripped off. I’d really appreciate your advice.
I paid £550 inc test costs and I had been riding 7yrs at that point. So giving the test all of inc theory would be under £150 its a very good deal.
