My read on Sephiroth needing to "get it back" The sword was created by Masemune as an act of compulsion as if he were inspired to create it (maybe it came to him in a dream). Then it has an obsessive influence on the villagers. Could it possibly contain some part or aspect of Jenova. Sephiroth needs it back as an act of Reunion. It calls out to him through Reunion. Jenova manipulates people through their "Dreams" both figurative and literal. (Jenova Dreamweaver). Angeal received his sword as an inherited item from his stepfather. Sephiroth may be inheriting Masamune as a gift from his mother who seeded its creation 500 years before his birth... Implying that she planed and inspired Sephiroth's birth, most likely by visiting the dreams of Professors Ghast & Hojo. Also she is most likely acting through Alissa who is either a Soldier with J-cells or a straight up illusion. Guiding Sephiroth to the sword.
Yeah that’s more or less my take, that Jenova’s consciousness followed the Cetra to this land and was sealed here, then when some brave/foolish Cetra came back and tried to settle there she infiltrated Masamune’s mind and compelled him to create the sword, but it has some sort of strange aura that compels people sensitive to it to try to take it. I think the Jenova we’re seeing in the dreams is the sword itself calling out to Sephiroth, with the sword being part of Jenova. I don’t know maybe the swordsmith found fragments of the meteor Jenova rode in on and used them to forge the Masamune. Alyssa is Jenova, I’m certain of that.
If I was to hazard a guess, the sword might not be calling out to Sephiroth. But the Jenova cells inside of him. And it may be Jenova’s words coming from his lips. “I need to get it back..” What did the smith craft the weapon from? Rare materials that fell from the sky? A calamity?
Well in the bronze age sky iron aka meteoric iron was prized as raw materials for swords because it was purer than anything people could create. I think the same thing may have happened here and Masamune found a meteorite containing an unrivaled metal.
@@cathygrandstaff1957 That's an interesting theory that makes a lot of sense. I'm also wondering if the metal is also tied to Jenova as well?? There is still a lot about Jenova we don't know yet.
I think this chapter really opened a lot of questions up for me when it comes to the sword and the lore of Wutai. I think what I'm most interested in however is Alissa and who she is really and what is her agenda. She obviously is being manipulated by Jenova and if I had my guess may not even look the way she is presented, but Bachman and Angeal see her. The opening movie gives a lot of foreshadowing. The hard part of figuring where the real Alissa begins and Jenova ends in her personality. I think I was a little surprised in Angeal's memory that Genesis was not even mentioned, I would have thought their friendship from the time they were kids would have put Genesis at Angeal's going away party. Personally I don't think we will see Genesis until Episode 3, maybe by the end of episode we get a mention or a cameo. Since these chapters are so short, they are focusing on each character's relation to Sephiroth. I wonder if we will end up seeing Glenn, Lucia, and Matt anymore? We know Sephiroth does at least see Glenn and Refu one last time once he grows up. I'm actually starting to see Alissa could end up being a potential romantic interest for Angeal. I was thinking Rosen was going survive, if he did, I could have seen him joining with Wutai with a massive hatred for Shinra, but that wasn't direction the story went.
The more I learn about Sephiroth and his history, the more excited I get! Not a HUGE fan of Wutai, but I'm more interested about Masamune and Sephiroth! If that sword of his is influenced by either Jenova or {JENOVA impersonating as Alissa}, that would be VERY interesting to see! I've always thought that Jenova had a VERY strange attachment to Sephiroth and Cloud. I mean both of the men get incredibly painful headaches. Sephiroth has glitches while Cloud suffers from visions of the past/future/flashbacks, like in Remake and Rebirth. However, I just LOVE the 'humming' noise that Masamune makes! But if that sword created with a portion of Jenova within it, that can NOT be good. And if Jenova is trying to fool Sephiroth into thinking she's Alissa, by disguising herself as the girl, we're going to be in BIG trouble! I think she's also the one trying to lead Cloud and Sephiroth toward the Reunion. Part 3 for the finale is going to be INSANE! And I'm STILL thinking about that 'Aerith' sitting around at the lake, too. I mean she was acting REALLY weird in that scene.
Alissa is super suspicious. I’m fairly certain she is Jenova, or at least has been taken over by Jenova. I noticed a lot during this chapter she has a habit of spreading her arms out wide when she’s telling a story, that’s a habit Jenovaroth has in both the original FF7 and Remake. She also really is manipulating the others with her “oh I’m so helpless protect me” act. And the way she just knows what happened as if she were remembering it is a major red flag. I’m also suspicious that an ordinary Soldier would know about the special cells, my impression was that they weren’t told they were being enhanced with special cells, or at least Sephiroth was only told Soldiers are exposed to mako to bring out their strength. Then again that’s probably all that happened with Sephiroth himself because he’d been exposed to those special cells in utero and he just assumed the same was true of others. Zack also didn’t seem to know but Zack is dumb. I also wonder how the reporter found out about the meteor since this is probably one of Shinra’s most secret secrets. Then again he works for Shinra and may be testing Alissa if he’s also suspicious she knows more than she should. It seems like what happened was Jenova’s soul tracked the Cetra to this location and manifested as some sort of monster, the monster managed to kill many of the Cetra but ended up being defeated and the survivors fled and founded Wutai. Later the remaining Cetra of Wutai were drawn back to the forbidden land by its strange energy and tied to live there again. This time Jenova compelled Masamune to create his sword, but the sword is cursed and causes those who see it to covet it and the Cetra slaughtered each other. The humans of Wutai notice this and fear the horror sealed within the forbidden zone will escape and burn everything again. Well now we know why Sephiroth was surrounded by fire in the video cutscene, this mission can only end with another giant conflagration and the group being forced to flee the area.
Damn thank you dude, love this so I don't have to play this mobile/port lol. Such a shame the type of game it is because the graphics are pretty cool and a lot of lore. Still not enough to make me play it though lol so I watch instead.
There's more lore explained in this one Ever Crisis episode than there was in all of Rebirth. Beautiful environments, good music, deep lore, and Bachman and Alissa are solid characters. It's really nice to get back to some overall plot a little bit here and get some actual story and take a break from the endless shipping wars.
In trying to be patient and not negative but I’m having a hard time with the fact Sephiroth has just killed Aerith and now we’re getting lore that looks to empathise with the villain. I’m losing faith the devs will live up to expectations here with all they’ve set up for part 3. On the positive side, p3 is only 2 years away now.
He was always a victim though.....he didn’t ask to be created the way he did. Like people just keep seeing Sephiroth as a villain an completely ignoring his backstory or atleast trying to understand why he did what he did. So I def get why the devs want fans to learn more about him. To understand his motives, an that he wasn’t just born evil into the world.

......🤔but he was never a villain to begin with though. Hojo and Jenova an Shinra are the REAL villains of the story. Sephiroth wasn’t *born* inherently evil. I think it’s great what they are doing for his backstory, he was young an misguided also his encounters with individuals as what led him to becoming the villain he ends up being. He did terrible things but he was manipulated by Jenova an misguided. I believe he should be redeemed....however meaning like sacrifice himself to save the planet which is what he wanted to do all along, only he saves the planet in a way he didn’t expect. As for the masamune backstory I think it is different I just hope they don’t go an say yeah....the sword is evil an it chose Sephiroth which is what corrupted him even further to kill people a shit that would be bad writing. However if it’s explained that the sword was made by the meteorite Jenova landed in Gaia with or it has Jenova cell materials in it. That would be interesting an explain a lot. Especially how in Advent children when Kadaj becomes Sephiroth the Masamune suddenly appears as well. So it be cool if it appear because it also has Jenova cells within it. But anyway Sephiroth is not evil. He may have done terrible things but, to him the ends Justify the means. He Legit thinks or rather believes he is saving the planet. So in part 3 if Sephiroth dies sacrificing himself to save the planet mabe against Jenova or Shinra or whoever the final villain of the so the is that would be a good send off for Sephiroths character.
Nah dude Sephiroth is suppose to be beyond saving. He is supposed to be the worst product of Shinras hubris. Hes suppose to be the biggest threat that even shinra is terrified of him. @TheKira708
He was always a tragic character, the fallen hero. Some people just don't want to see it, because OMG villains are so cool or something. SE is just showing us and making sure we do understand the tragedy of a dehumanized child turned into a weapon who dreams of nothing but the connection and comfort of having a mother and grows up to lose whatever was left of his sense of self. I very much want Sephiroth, the man, to still be there somewhere and find peace much more than redemption. The Seph-Jenova entity is an entirely different story. No matter how much we were told Seph was in control, it never seemed that way and AC is the ultimate confirmation. Sail the cosmos in what's left of the planet? That's 100% Jenova!
