A number of people have brought this up, so I think I should mention this: when making this video, I was aware that Jen is still an active soulbonder who has moved on to the Hannibal fandom, but I decided to cut off the video before that point for two reasons. First, my intention was not to talk about Jen, but rather the Final Fantasy House. Second, the video was already pushing 40 minutes, and to cover Jen's further activities would have easily sent it past the 1 hour mark. This would have made the production cycle prohibitively long and the video much less accessible, neither of which I was willing to allow. This does not, however rule out a video about Jen or Tattle-Crime in the future.

Quit on the first attempt because I chose something I wasn't interested in after being medically discharged from the marine corps for night blindness. Dad died during the next attempt so I had a meltdown and quit. Third attempt I tried to take seriously, but I quit again after making a D in a class that I needed a C in to get the credit toward the degree. The first and third time I was balancing jobs and I was a teenager or in my early twenties during this time. These are lame excuses, I know, but school was never my favorite thing to endure anyway.

This is by far my favourite internet story. The fact it happened over 20 years ago but has so much information behind it still accessible today is a miracle, considering “old internet” stories are often lost to the ether. Makes me wonder how many other batshit insane stories are out there from those days that we may never hear of again because someone didn’t bother documenting it.

I was in contact with Jen back in the day. (Before this happened) I was only 13. Yes, she was extremely manipulative and toxic. She was trying to get me to give her my phone number, trying to keep me up late at night, and saying bad things about my family when they made me get off the computer. Wouldn't laughing at them be a kind of a solution to the problem? Kids do not want to be ridiculed, and it's probably the easiest way to get them to realize the people they are interacting with them are not good influence. On top of that it's actually kind of funny how ridiculous some of those communities get, and people tend to share funny things, making the victim more likely to see the message.

The selling blood thing probably sounds like a pretty crazy detail, but in state college blood/plasma donation is advertised everywhere and offers around $400-500/month. Being a college town, with broke college kids it’s pretty appealing, I knew a ton of people who did it, albeit for different reasons.
Others have brought this up, but it just baffles me: *how are these people so dedicated to these characters but seem to be unaware that it's weird for Aeris, Cid and Zack to be roommates with Hojo and Jenova?* These characters HATE and actively attempt to KILL one another!
this whole thing seems fake. hit me at the 25 min mark. to many coincidences that leads to the perfect story, to many storyline holes and multiple writing mistakes made supposebly by different people. nearly every story despite being writen by someone different always manages to mispell and over look the word "and" its highly unlikely multiple people made the same exact mistake in the same exact way all in a series of stories that are connected. look closely nearly every "and" is spelt "adn" theres just to many coincidences.
the first half had me fooled, either the writer gave up on later stories or a less skilled writer decided to pick up where the story ended. who knows maybe the first half is true and the 2nd half was manufactured by an amateur writer...either way the storyline is questionable but somewhat possible in the first jen story after that theres just to many coincidences which lead to the perfect most juciest story, to many storyline holes and similar writing mistakes.

I actually had a crush on her in middle school which made it even more awkward, especially since I was in a pretty serious (as serious as high school could get) relationship at the time. Long story short, it was fascinating at the time learning about someone else's spiritualism but I never dove too deep into it. She always had a foot in reality however; unlike most of these soulbonders.

When I was young, I had a friend who's mother fell for a cult leader. She invited the guy over to our house one night and I remember him having the darkest vibe of anyone I've ever met. My friends mom ended up leaving her husband and moving him and his brother to a commune in the middle of the desert with a bunch of other people. I dont know the details, but apparently it got really bad. I visited my former friend years later and he was not the same person, the ordeal had taken a serious toll on him. This story just proves that these kind of things happen more often than you'd like to think.

Are you serious? Thats the obvious fact. She is not mentally ok, she needs to be in a facility where she cannot hurt or manipulate anyone. I don't know why she isn't being pursued after, she can cause a lot of damage.
People talk pretty unhealthily about neurodivergence a lot, and others rightfully pick them up on victimising people because they happen to think or behave differently. I think there's a lot of discussion to be had about where 'mental illness' and pity end and 'abuse' starts. I think the line is just that: at the point where you 'being yourself' is abuse to others - destroying their property, controlling their lives, refusing to contribute or aid those around you - is the point where you can no longer claim you're just neurodivergent and should be treated with respect. There are people who are heavily autistic or have other 'disorders' who are perfectly capable of understanding and interacting with society, but society doesn't accept them because they act weird, or don't express themselves the way others do. Especially when things like therapy and medication clearly help you coexist with others without abuse, you can't claim to just 'think differently' and get a pass for abusive behaviour. I suppose it's important for people to know this so they don't get sucked into codependent (or worse) relationships with people who try to co-opt messages of tolerance to get away with abuse. If someone in your life is hurting you like this, get out and get help.

exactly! throughout the video i was thinking that these people (especially jen) seem like theyre possibly nd and mentally ill if they have these intense delusions, but consistently refusing help or fighting people who tell you that something’s wrong just shows that it’s turned into straight up abuse. i know several really nice & genuine people who have delusional attachments to characters, so its definitely not just the neurodivergence - the ppl in the vid were malicious as well. i really do hope that they eventually got some sort of help and stopped abusing/scamming people.

Cosplay and roleplay can be a great escape, but there are lines that shouldn't be crossed, and once you start hurting others or yourself or both, that's when it stops being fun and starts being a very serious problem. I met them and spent a very brief time in their house. I don't remember exactly what year it was, somewhere between 2001-2004, this was all so long ago. The experience has colored my view of a lot of different things, but I was so small in the scheme of things that no one remembers me, and I'm kind of glad for that. I would speak about what I saw there, but only anonymously. It was already a strange time for me, which is why I ended up there in the first place. That kind of thing happens when you're searching for answers no one can seem to give you. Most of all, I hope Mela is thriving. She was one of the nicest, sweetest, most forthcoming people I've ever met, and I just want all good things for her.

I've been having trouble with my anxiety and heavy panic attacks for weeks due to a medication change. I was convinced I was going crazy-even though this has been an issue since childhood. Then during one such panic attack, I click on this 40 minute video since I already feel like shit and realize I am getting no sleep tonight. Something to attempt to distract me from my symptoms, even a little bit. Well, I'll be damned, but I was distracted from quite a bit of them watching this. Also, I feel like for the first time in ages, I'm reminded through the events of this video that having a panic attack disorder doesn't make you crazy. My ex told me about an irl encounter she had with Hojo and Jen. Fortunately, she was able to get away before they hurt her. I am floored that there is a whole rabbit hole saga about these people.
A number of people have brought this up, so I think I should mention this: when making this video, I was aware that Jen is still an active soulbonder who has moved on to the Hannibal fandom, but I decided to cut off the video before that point for two reasons. First, my intention was not to talk about Jen, but rather the Final Fantasy House. Second, the video was already pushing 40 minutes, and to cover Jen's further activities would have easily sent it past the 1 hour mark. This would have made the production cycle prohibitively long and the video much less accessible, neither of which I was willing to allow. This does not, however rule out a video about Jen or Tattle-Crime in the future.
I hope you do consider making a part 2 of this saga! I will love to see how deep it goes!

this whole thing seems fake. hit me at the 25 min mark. to many coincidences that leads to the perfect story, to many storyline holes and multiple writing mistakes made supposebly by different people. nearly every story despite being writen by someone different always manages to mispell and over look the word "and" its highly unlikely multiple people made the same exact mistake in the same exact way all in a series of stories that are connected. look closely nearly every "and" is spelt "adn" theres just to many coincidences.
the first half had me fooled, either the writer gave up on later stories or a less skilled writer decided to pick up where the story ended. who knows maybe the first half is true and the 2nd half was manufactured by an amateur writer...either way the storyline is questionable but somewhat possible in the first jen story after that theres just to many coincidences which lead to the perfect most juciest story, to many storyline holes and similar writing mistakes.

also the third story is suppose to be written by someone whos not into anime or gaming yet just happened to perfectly guess the era the game jen played was from even though it could easily be mistaken as a 80's or early 00's game to someone whos not into gaming he also uses gaming and anime slang, either he did some serious research after meeting jen or he had multiple in depth conversations with jen about interests hes not interested in and the fact he dislikes and is actively aware jen is a nutter, just doesnt add up he wouldnt even want to make small talk.

When I was young, I had a friend who's mother fell for a cult leader. She invited the guy over to our house one night and I remember him having the darkest vibe of anyone I've ever met. My friends mom ended up leaving her husband and moving him and his brother to a commune in the middle of the desert with a bunch of other people. I dont know the details, but apparently it got really bad. I visited my former friend years later and he was not the same person, the ordeal had taken a serious toll on him. This story just proves that these kind of things happen more often than you'd like to think.

People talk pretty unhealthily about neurodivergence a lot, and others rightfully pick them up on victimising people because they happen to think or behave differently. I think there's a lot of discussion to be had about where 'mental illness' and pity end and 'abuse' starts.
I think the line is just that: at the point where you 'being yourself' is abuse to others - destroying their property, controlling their lives, refusing to contribute or aid those around you - is the point where you can no longer claim you're just neurodivergent and should be treated with respect. There are people who are heavily autistic or have other 'disorders' who are perfectly capable of understanding and interacting with society, but society doesn't accept them because they act weird, or don't express themselves the way others do. Especially when things like therapy and medication clearly help you coexist with others without abuse, you can't claim to just 'think differently' and get a pass for abusive behaviour.
I suppose it's important for people to know this so they don't get sucked into codependent (or worse) relationships with people who try to co-opt messages of tolerance to get away with abuse. If someone in your life is hurting you like this, get out and get help.

I met them and spent a very brief time in their house. I don't remember exactly what year it was, somewhere between 2001-2004, this was all so long ago. The experience has colored my view of a lot of different things, but I was so small in the scheme of things that no one remembers me, and I'm kind of glad for that. I would speak about what I saw there, but only anonymously. It was already a strange time for me, which is why I ended up there in the first place. Then during one such panic attack, I click on this 40 minute video since I already feel like shit and realize I am getting no sleep tonight. Something to attempt to distract me from my symptoms, even a little bit. Well, I'll be damned, but I was distracted from quite a bit of them watching this. Also, I feel like for the first time in ages, I'm reminded through the events of this video that having a panic attack disorder doesn't make you crazy. It's shit like THIS is what it means to be crazy.

Additionally BPDs tend to behave more softly if they date full blown NPDs.
