This weekend, as is tradition, I headed over to Mapledurham in the Chilterns to take part in the Mapledurham 10. 10km, 10 miles or a half marathon of muddy fun! It's my first 10k since being diagnosed with EBV, and also my first 10k canicross with Tia, so plenty of excitement. This race is such a good one, even in the pouring rain. Would recommend!

First Like from Spain. ¡¡¡¡Well done, Flora!!!!!!. And...¡¡¡¡ Good job, Tia!!!!....Let´s goooo to the finishe lineeeee...... A nice week for everyone.
🤩🤩 most excellent work m'dear and you can tell how much fun you were having during that. hope you didn't end up feeling too bad for the days after. x
Well done on the comeback run - it's great to see you running again, and it was lovely to meet you (and Tia) at the top of Tourettes Hill. Like you, I'd dropped down to the 10K (only I'd crazily signed up for the Half but, having struggled at a 10K the day before, knew I wasn't fit enough for it). I'd planned for the mud to be frozen, so got caught out a bit in the second half of the run with how squishy it was underfoot, but thoroughly enjoyed it. Glad to see Fiann enjoyed his run too!
Great to meet you, hope you had a great rest of your race! Haha somehow it always ends up wet, it's just par for the course. Glad you enjoyed!
Well done Flora, really well done👏🏼.Thia is so focused when she runs, maybe a vid all about her,her running, what she eats to keep her energy levels up etc etc.I’m hoping to get another dog early next year after losing my last one so any tips or ideas about running with a dog would be great.Well done again 😊
So sorry to hear about the loss of your dog, that's too sad :(
I've got a video with Ben Robinson all about canicross, kit, training etc etc., which you might find helpful. I'll make sure to do some more when I'm back running a bit more!
Great to see you out running again! And that "Behind" command, why haven't I ever thought of teaching the dogs that!
Best trick EVER!
That brngs back memories of when I last ran the 10k, worth it for the mulled wine and mince pie. Enjoy the next race
Congtrats on your race, still a good time and pace! BTW, your countryside looks great, thanks for the video!
Yes we are very lucky to have so much open access land in the UK! Still only about 7% of all land in the UK though. Always campaigning for more!
Always loving your vids!! Not sure if you have considered this, but try taking Tia for s 10-15min walk before the race, that should help to avoid the "restroom breaks".
I do usually do this but she rarely poos in a new place! Would have to be 40 mins or something. Plus, we were so late for this one. It's a good idea though! 😅
Lovely canicross! So good to see you running and smiling again. I would like to see anything heart rate armstrap related. I absolutely hate my chest strap and I need a good new solution!
Well done, Flora (and family)! You really have the edge in races and tracks/courses over us here in the US...I literally just commented to a friend of mine on our last run that there don't seem to be any 10K runs available here. And what is available (half- and full-marathons, and a slew of 5K's) are all on paved roads). Oh, and absolutely NO DOGS EVER!!! (which sucks for our friendly, furry friends)! Anyway, I'm glad to see you back out and enjoying running, especially out in the beauty of nature; take good care.
Ah no way! We really are very lucky here. There aren't too many dog friendly races, but there are a few race series that are always dog friendly, which I love so much. Even when I don't have Tia there I appreciate it!
Well done!!!
Love this event, I try to do it every year although when covered in mud, in the rain, going up an impossible hill I do question this decision. Well done on getting out there!
Also, check out the goring gap run half marathon & Ulta - same venue but in the spring, seems to be a well kept secret!
Haha yes i'm with you on that! Oooh that's a good shout, thank you! :)
You have so many years left to progress! I set my marathon PR two weeks before I turned 45 (and I've been running for many years). Your 30s and 40s are still strong years :)
Really nice video.
Well done 🎉 what brand are your leggings, they’re very cool
Theyre very old under armour I'm afraid!
Cant tell you how refreshing this slower speed / figuring-it-out content has been from you! You’ve always been superhuman with your pace and adventures, so to see you’re a human too and have a setback that you really dont know how it’ll affect you long term is just so relatable. Can’t wait to see all you take on in the future, no matter what it is!
Great race! Lovely to see Tia racing with you. She is the best companion :D
Congratulations!!! It's so great to see you back out, doing what you can on any particular day. It's very cool that it's a family affair. Tia and Fiann did so well too!! Nothing better than pub food after a run/ hike!
Well done Tia & Flora 👏🏻🐾Looks like a lovely route! Great to see you both enjoying your canicross again 🙂
Congrat's on getting back out bet it did feel good after your recent vlogs and EBV Implications - hope the recover from the race was good and your body reacted well to the stress.
So glad to see you are able to run some now.
Well done Flora, don't get too down "rewinding" to where your fitness was previously.
🎶 Life is a roller coaster 🎶:)
Maybe any lingering EBV in your system causing that elevated ❤rate ?
Several things can affect readings, causing fluctuations
Progress on a upward trajectory in any case.
We move :)
yes definitely not over EBV yet so that will have been the cause of the high HR unfortunately. Thank you :)
A great report - thank you :D And what a beautiful route! Thank you and your sweet dog for taking us with you :D
It's so beautiful, we really enjoyed it!
Oooooo I made the cut pouring the mulled wine! Well done again Fiona 🎉
Hahah you did! But it's Flora, not fiona 😅 but since we only met for all of 30s, I'll forgive you
Yay congrats on those wet trails Flora , although I was a little shocked to see my brother from London running behind you at the start ....silver hair tied back lol
haha no way! Small (running) world
@@FloraBeverley I know right ...had a great laugh telling him lol 😂
