I actually didn't know that the s160s were only supposed to last 90 days btw i love your videos and your a look back at series you should do one on the southern railway excursion engines

The 1702 was built by Baldwin for the Army Transportation Corps but somehow was not shipped overseas. The Warren & Saline River RR in Arkansas got it after WWII ended. The Reader Railroad in Arkansas got it from the W&SR and rebuilt it for use to spell the 11 and 108 2-6-2's. After the Reader shut down as a common carrier, the GSMR bought it. They installed roller bearings on it during rebuilding to help reduce operating and maintenance costs. The Southern Rwy used to operate 2-8-2s on the Murphy Branch.
I grew up in the Dillsboro depot, and spent alot of time on this train. I was lucky enough to ride the steam engine several times as a young boy, as the honorary fireman. Thanks for posting so I can share with my son! Great video as always Mike!!
Hey Mike, you should explore the Boone and Valley Scenic Railroad in Boone, IA. It's really cool. They have Metra's original Highliner Bombardier cars. Also, you should check out the Stone Mountain Railroad. It's really fun. What do you think, Mike?
@@CoasterFan2105 I'll bet you've never heard of the Iowa Interstate QJ steam locomotives, Mike. You should create a Train Talk Episode on it if you want.
Mr. Mike Armstrong, This is the Best Summer Ever, and I Love Your New UA-cam Video So Much, and You Know that I Really, Really Super Love Steam Trains so Much, Friend. :-)
This brings back memories! I rode that behind that engine in 2017! This is also the only steam engine I rode on! This video is now special to me! Keep up the great work!
That's an interesting idea and I've actually thought about doing something like that before. I haven't played any of the sims in a while, but I used to more often. Which of the simulators that are out now do you like the best?
I’m sorry I’m late again it’s just that I love driving planes. Anyway everything in this video was super great nothing wrong and also congrats on 463k subs call me Brandon
I love 1702 Because it’s a refurbished and ex USTAC S160 class used over in Britain by the us army transport corps during the Second World War, Being a kid I want to ride this but do they really need to have the diesel at the end and do a push pull can’t they find a place to run around 1702, but anyway great vid mike, kudos to you.
CoasterFan2105 the Oceanside trains will include Coaster, Amtrak Surfliner, Metrolink and Sprinter and it will be located at the Oceanside Transit Center
Beautiful scenery, crystal clear video, amazing shots. What else is there to ask! Side Note: Are you sad to see SP 2472 leaving Niles Canyon and going to the Eureka area.

Rap Boy 3 dude you really know I live near a Air Force base in NC
I live 30 minutes north of Charlotte!
My pleasure! Hope to be back again some time!
I went on the GSMRR once, but it was pulled by two diesel engines. I still liked it.
It is a very beautiful railroad, even without the steam locomotive.
Awesome really amazing Railroad
Can you do a train talk episode on steam locomotive whistles
@@LukeLovesTrains-Mr.RailYard He did so with horns, so there's a good chance he'll do whistles too
Ok
Thank you, it really is! And yes, I want to do that one. It's been delayed because of other projects, but hoping to get a chance to do it soon.
Very nice! Always a great place to visit, looks like you had fun chasing 1702. -Ty

Yeah, I think the steam only runs once a week or so tbh
It's a very neat railroad, either way!
1702 is an S160 right? If so, she's doing great for a locomotive that was designed to last only 90 days.
I actually didn't know that the s160s were only supposed to last 90 days btw i love your videos and your a look back at series you should do one on the southern railway excursion engines

Is 722 getting restoration
I am not sure if she's still in bits and pieces
Doesn't look like it. They disassembled her and now she's scattered around their shops. She's been untouched for years.
I have heard that eventually, the plan is to get 722 running again but we'll see.
