This is definitely the worst car entertainment system I have ever seen - and I've driven a Mazda3 since about 2003. I'm getting ready to buy a new one, but after seeing this, I'm having serious second thoughts. Look, let me be clear - I don't care about Sirius, phone connections, Bluetooth capability or anything else. I just want to be able to pick my favorite radio stations and tune around between them in an easy way. Period. No sixteen buttons to press, no 20 menus to scroll through, no screen to distract. This is the single most complicated thing I can imagine. Why in the world would Mazda make what I consider the most important feature of a car so completely un-user friendly? I would like to meet the sadist who decide this was a good idea. What an absolute disaster. Shame on Mazda. And stop pretending it's easy to use. Mazda 3? I wouldn't even give it a zero.
It's actually very simple. This wasn't a video titled "How to preset and switch between radio stations quickly." Its an infotainment system Walkthrough. If that's all you care about, why would this car be an option in the first place? You don't need a 2021 vehicle with customizable safety features, apple/carplay , navigation, advanced comfort and premium audio if all you need is a radio, so why bash the car? It's actually simple to program favorites and switch between them using only one button- the voice commander button. You can't blame the car for not having options that were standard in 1996.
@@charliesvids You're right - but that's not the point. I love the car, which is why this important feature of it is so disappointing to me. It IS possible to make these things far simpler - I know. I've seen them in other vehicles. I'm admittedly old fashioned about this. Give me AM, FM, maybe HD and I'm good to go. And I would think Mazda would at least make it possible to have an option to get something simpler installed in a vehicle for people like me. I'd even be willing to pay extra for it. I don't need a three week learning curve to figure out how something works. It should be intuitive - which this most definitely is not. Also, why put the user's manual solely in the onscreen unit? If it malfunctions, you can't see anything and won't be able to get to it when you perhaps need it the most. Dumb and dumber. And one more thing - and this is a comment that goes for almost all cars made these days. We live in a world where an increasing number of states and cities have passed distracted driving laws, aimed at getting people to stop using their cell phones in traffic. Who thought it was a good idea to put a screen in front of people's eyes while they're driving? I love technology as much as anyone, but man, this is the stupidest idea ever. And sadly, Mazda has taken it to new heights.
@@RA-ml1sn I totally understand your point.. and Infotainment has been in the beta stage if you will. The whole point of the Mazda Infotainment is that it is hands free, and angled slightly towards the driver. Mazda is aware of distracted driving, which is why they eliminated the touch screen feature, and raised the screen up to eye-level, and angled slightly towards the driver, rather than down and center, integrated into the dash. This way, there's less reaching, and you're able to look at the road and get all entertainment needs met at the same time, as if you glance over, your eyes are still on the road. Hope this helps some. I appreciate your feedback.
@@charliesvids Sorry, but no matter which make of car, a screen - even an angled one - anywhere near a driver's eyes is just plain stupid and dangerous. Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you should. This is an accident waiting to happen. I know most won't agree with me, but I don't want to watch TV while I'm driving!
@@RA-ml1sn Well, bud.. you can't find a car without it. MAZDA is the #1 Brand for safety. Have you even experienced it for yourself or are you only going off of your preconceived bias?
I just drove a 2021 CX 30 for 3 weeks. The infotainment system needs to be redesigned. It definitely needs quick access to radio, usb etc. The volume know is a pain to use and sits in an awkward position. Put it where it belongs! And please let the driver turn off that annoying lengthy melody/chime when starting the car without being buckled up.
Just bought a 2021 Mazda 3. I came here specifically hoping to learn about Navigation, setting/editing favorites, etc. Do you expect to ever do anything on that? I had the old infotainment system on my 2016 Mazda and I prefer it to this one. So far.
Love your review. On the android connect, it features a cell phone. How about Shanling android Digital Audio Player? Is that compatible with the Infotainment center, so I can play my music library? Thanks
In the FM radio station you tuned to there were 2 stations available within it (I believe this is called HD Multicast ex: HD1 HD2). I'm curious to know how to change between Multicast HD Radio channels. Do you know how?
Is the vehicle in the video a CX-30 or a 3? I just bought a used 2019 Mazda 3 and it does not have the Owner's Manual under Information, so just wondering if the digital owners manual is only available on CX-30, or do I have old firmware?
Thanks so much for your informative video Charlie. Just had a question: you mentioned that you can turn off the radio altogether, but I didn't quite understand how. Could you please let me know? Thanks again.
Just bought a 2021 CX-30 premium and have it in the shop already. I have a faint sounding beep that has been narrowed down to the NAV software by Mazda service that comes on intermittently occasionally. No information what the beep is or what the car/software has detected. Where do I turn off beeps? The beep is annoying.
Is it the blind spot warning going off? There is an orange light on the mirror that’s lights up when someone is in your blind spot, as well as a beep. I think the tone can be turned off in the settings menu.
Hello! I have this 2021 mazda and was wondering how to work the favorites. I know how to add, but how would you remove a favorite? Thanks for the video!
Question on XM satellite radio on the 2021 models. I understand Mazda dropped Sirius XM on all trims except the Premium. Is this true? I emailed Mazda support but never got an answer and my nearest dealer (50 miles away) gave a nebulous answer. Thanks.
My infotainment screen display just turned off and doesn’t work. Phone says it’s connected to apple car play but can’t hear music. The display is just plain black. I just got the 2021 CX-30 about 4 months ago. How can I fix that?
I'm sorry you're having trouble! You may be able to resolve this by pressing these buttons in this order : Volume knob + back button + nav button and hold all three until the system resets. Let me know if this works!
@@charliesvids I tried to press and hold the volume button which turned the system back on. I was breaking my head trying to figure out what was wrong and turns out it was one button. Everything is back on now, thanks for your help man!
I can live with the rotary knob and all that - what I can’t live with is the scrolling limitations on Apple CarPlay. While driving, it only shows a small part of your music library, and in one app where I have it alphabetized, I can only view folders that start with the letter A! This needs to be dealt with, it’s an awful feature that doesn’t make anything safer. If anyone knows how to disable this, please let me know!
Hit the favorites button (star), and bring up your list of favorites. Hover over the one you want to remove , and press and hold the favorites button again until the "Removed From Favorites" icon appears.
No programming needed! To fold the mirrors manually from inside the vehicle, simply twist the control knob to the left. They will automatically fold inward once the vehicle is locked from the outside.
