    AWESOME VIDEO! That Sony really is a good value for the run and gunners and if you don't care about being able to see the lav. The Deity is a close second for it's sound and how hidden that mic is. Rode comes in third. Similar sound to Diety, but bigger footprint.

    Fabulous video, really appreciated! That Sony lav is doing a lot of work for the price, I wish I knew about it before buying a similarly priced generic brand from Amazon (which needs a lot of pre-amp help because of low sensitivity and the clip broke immediately). I think I might have to pick one up. Although the Sony does seem a bit less discreet than the competition, and maybe more sensitive to wind noise outdoors in your test? Probably the real winner here is the Picomic capsule itself, good enough sound and really inconspicious.
    I have not nearly enough thumbs-up for your scream test ^_^

      Hey hey again Cadmeus!
      You're most welcome! Yea the Sony is definitely great but not so much in the "looks" department. The picomic's capsule is definitely a winner for its size and abilities for sure!

    Thanks for a fantastic review and tests. It would be great to see the same PicoMic 2 Pro test with a set of Lavs from the next price bracket up (e.g., Deity W.Lav Micro, Tram TR50, Sanken COS 11D, DPA 6060 CORE, Countryman B6, e.t.c.).
    Then…maybe one where a similar one with shotgun mics for wireless booming!
    Thanks again!!!

      Man I wish I had those other lavs to give em a try and see how they perform. As for higher end shotgun mics, the sound quality might be dependent on the 48v preamp that it has to go through before it hits the Picomic.

    Awesome testing! Subbed!
    I was able to get a Rodee Lavaliere (the $350 model) used for $120!!!
    I couldn't pass it up. But...to my surprise, there's no comparison on UA-cam or online anywhere of the Rode Go VS the Rode Lavalier. That would be a great idea...using the Rode Go/Diety Mic as the base line comparing to the higher end lav mics. Of course, just an idea, keep up the great work!

      Hey hey again tapatio salsa!
      That's definitely a great deal! Interesting that there isn't a comparison between the two, maybe if one of these days I can get ahold of one. Otherwise the new Lavalier II seems like a great candidate to add to my lav test beds on 3rd party wireless systems. One day I would like to get some expensive $500 lavs to see how well do they play with cheap audio systems, but I think most of those class of lavaliers have other connectors outside of 3.5mm, so it could be a lost cause to test them on these systems. We'll see! Thanks again for stopping by, I for sure will keep doing my best!

      Hey hey Angelo!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question!
      I think the Picomic 2 Pro is good enough for many use cases especially for online content creators. If you are doing major production jobs, you will want to use more traditional UHF setups.
      The only problem with the Picomic 2 pro is if you are in a windy situation. The Windmuff does ok for light wind, but heavier winds will be a problem.
      Hope this helps!

    Do you really like the PicoMic 2 Pro? Is it better than the Rode Wireless Go 2? I have a Saramonic B2 Pro. I am looking for an upgrade. There are only a few reviews of the PicoMic. Thanks I’m advance for any advice you can give. Thanks for the great reviews. Cheers.

    • @TLDR_filmmaker

      Hey hey David!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question!
      I really like the PicoMic 2 Pro and the Rode Wireless Go 2 for different reasons. The PicoMic is just so small that it makes getting good audio extremely quick and less cumbersome on the actor. I have said in my reviews that people who do a lot of interviews or quick live video events will benefit from the small simplicity of the picomic 2 pro.
      The RODE wireless Go 2 is great for critical audio pieces because of that backup recording that does amazingly well. Having that backup, depending on your work, can save a take.
      Because you have the Saramonic Blink500 Pro, you are already familiar with a wireless system that has no backup recording. If you get a Picomic 2 Pro, you will have the added perks of insane battery life, super small transmitter with built in mic, and lastly the ability to use a wired lav if you want. If you go with the RODE, you get back up recordings should you need it. These are the two things to consider your purchase and for what type of work you do. While the RODE is technically the better pick, I still use the Picomic 2 for various types of works because all I need is a quick audio setup for an interview where I am right there with no chance of a lost signal. In that situation I want the subject to be comfortable and for me to move quickly without fussing with wires.
      Hope this helps!

    Hi my friend TLDR, great video as always, I liked the sound of that SONY one and the price, I thought about buying the "Countryman B3 Omnidirectional Lavalier" $199.99, what do you think of that one? By the way there are also 2 from SONY that compete with the one you showed here, these two: Sony ECM-V1BMP $ 139, and the "Sony ECM-77BPT" $179.99, now I'm confused...lol, I need it for ACTING outdoors and indoors, if you rule out any please let me know. Creating details you are unique men, Thanks a lot, I appreciated!

    I want to know which mic is the best for blocking background noises (noisy cars etc) if I were to vlog at a noisy environment

    • @TLDR_filmmaker
      @TLDR_filmmaker  2 роки тому

      Hey hey J L!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question!
      In general, all of them won't block background noises well if the noise is very loud. These mics are designed to pick up sound in all directions so depending on how loud and close you are to a sound source depends on how much the lav will pick it up. That being said check out my full review of the Picomic 2 Pro ua-cam.com/video/zn8bOf7gZzk/v-deo.html and go to the vlogging section. You'll actually hear how much car noise gets picked up when I'm outside and inside a car driving. That'll give you an idea of what the internal lav is capable of as well as generally how other lavs will pick up sounds in these environments. Hope this helps!

    • @TLDR_filmmaker
      @TLDR_filmmaker  9 місяців тому +1

      I'll take that into consideration! I'm not entirely sure if the Sony is actually a true stereo lav or a dual mono lav. I never tested it beyond using it for a wireless transmitter which is only a 1ch signal.

    • @spirittravels.
      @spirittravels. 9 місяців тому

      @@TLDR_filmmaker Thanks.
      I think it must be a stereo mic.
      Isn't it either stereo or mono?
      Perhaps dual mono happens when the gadget/camera used, only has a mono input, or you're using a wireless option?
      I would think it normally a safer bet to directly plug in the mic to the camera.

    I always find it interesting how subjective audio can be sometimes. To my ears the Rode sounded best. Build quality of the Rode looses out to the Deity in my opinion though.

    • @TLDR_filmmaker
      @TLDR_filmmaker  2 роки тому

      Hey hey again Gerald!
      Definitely subjective. The RODE and DEITY to my ears sort of flop back and forth depending on what system you plug it into. Sometimes the Deity sounds a hair too bassy for my voice and the RODE sounds too Thin-Flat. But no question that the Deity feels more robust in build compared to the RODE. Though I guess we'll see which one of mine will break first.

      Hey hey otoshi!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and and asking a question!
      If your PC does not have a dedicated "mic" jack, usually the color pink port, then chances are you have a combo port like a smartphone and will need a TRS to TRRS adaptor. When it comes to Desktop, most stand alone boxes will have a dedicated mic port. ALL-In-One computers are generally more similar to laptops that use the combo port. So double check what your PC has available and see if you'll need an adaptor, here is one that I use: geni.us/XA5Iy (Affiliate link)

      Hey hey ugugsol!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question!
      If you are talking about the screaming test, it might be the preamp of the Picomic 2. In my next lac mic comparison test, for another system I'm testing, the RODE Lav GO did not clip as badly. So my theory is that the mic capsule of the RODE can actually handle a decent amount, but the wireless pack its connected to can't take more without specific calibration.
