I love the Mystic Force morph sequence, but what really sets it apart is their morph call. There's just something special about the rangers calling upon Rita Repulsa herself every time they morph, as she is the Magical Source. This perfectly depicts Rita's huge character development from being the Power Rangers' main adversary to becoming the source of their power. It's a very simple detail and quite easy to miss, but definitely has years worth of backstories behind it.
The morphing sequences are the entire reason I watch the Power Rangers. It's like everything else is supplemental to the show. Honestly, transformation sequences interest me the most in any superhero show where they appear.
I still love Dai Shi/Jarrod's morph. No tools, no explosions needed. His energy/animal spirit ALONE is what morphed him. Such raw power, if only he had been a 6th ranger.
I'll be honest, I think Overdrive's Morph Sequences are pretty cool. You roll the wheel, it ejects a projection of the rangers' suits and other equipment, then zip and done! Plus, I love the music involved with it too. It's very heroic. Aside from OO, I also like Time Force, Jungle Fury, Ninja Storm and RPM'S.
I mean the morphine sequences are quite literally the reason why so many people get into power rangers and not only that it's the literally main selling point. I mean is Zeke has told us anything it's that they need explosions
I think the Disney Era morph sequences were the best. They had such an attention grabbing nature to them that made me excited for each season to see how new and different they are.
I stumbled across your channel when the power rangers in the 2010s video pooped up on my feed, and i want to thank you for getting me back into power rangers.
Ziggy asking about the explosion was a massive 4th wall break (But then again in the episode “…And Action” the whole episode was another 4th wall break). And you forgot about Tyzonn’s morphing sequence for Operation Overdrive. But hands down the Disney era did have the best morphs.
Regarding the "cockpit modes," that all goes back to Samurai and whether or not it would be adapted. Bandai was apparently going to create a toy line for Samurai, regardless of whether or not there was a show to go along with it or not. More specifically, Bandai was creating the Mega Mode as a powered-up version for the toys. Saban was already planning on re-filming the cockpit scenes for Samurai, so they went ahead and used the Mega Mode for the cockpit scenes.
The Dino Fury sequence has a small detail that I think is worth mentioning: when the Rangers are being bathed by the Morphing Grid, you can see that both Red and Gold have a different, more confident expression and posture. It's like they are more used to that than the others, who seem more surprised and not fully understanding what's going on. This is a cool nod to the fact that Zayto and Aiyon have been doing this for far longer than the rest.
8:41 - You neglected to mention the unique morph sequence they used in the Wild Force finale; it was originally going to be their regular morph for the series, then, for whatever reason, they went with the Gaoranger one until the last couple episodes.
I don't know. I've watched since MMPR and even as a kid I thought it was just filler. Like with stock footage of Sailor Moon transforming or attacking, it was there to pad the run time for episodes. It was really cool the first few times but I'm glad they introduced insta-morphs as Este called them in the later seasons.
The morphing sequences are one of the many reasons why I love the Power Rangers franchise to this day aside from the combat choreography done. Even with shows such as VR Troopers and Big Bad Beetleborgs, there is no doubt that their morphing sequences are just as worth watching as their Power Rangers counterparts.
22:46 it was originally done in samurai cause Saban thought the original scenes were just too Japanese. Ironic considering one of samurai’s script editors was literally a translator
Shinkenger's cockpit was apparently to 'Eastern' or something, Megaforce and Super weren't changed, Kyoryuger had the name of the gattai in the background (Kyoryuzin, Plezu-Oh) and Dini Charge would eventually feature rangers who never went into the Mecha, example, Ramirez never went inside Plezu-oh, but all of the rangers where in the pleisio zord in edge of extinction.
It’s funny that you superimpose yourself onto that weird blanket you used to use as a backdrop. It’s strangely nostalgic and wholesome. Staying true to your roots.
by season 3 i was questioning why enemies just stand around while they are doing jumps and flips and then they showed us morphing from outside and it was exactly instant as i expected
When I was a kid, I saw a gif of Will rolling his Morpher's wheel on Kamdor's staff(?) and insta morphing, and that alone convinced me that Operation Overdrive MUST be peak. ):
I love the Timeranger henshin... should've been implemented more in Time Force. The Matrix bullet-time references, the poses each member had being different like with their arms out like hands on a clock.
i agree wholeheartedly about rpm, they made it alot better dopest morphing sequence to me for power rangers is jungle fury for sentai would be Ryusoulger, and thats the most majestic disney power ranger-like sequence though i should add, the realtime transformation for Ninninger is quite cool
I always enjoyed the morphin sequences ever since I was a kid. I think it would be funny to see a video where we see what the monsters see as they are waiting for the Power Rangers to finish up morphing! Like a scene where the monster looks at his watch while he's waiting! Lmao! 😂😂😂
Mystic Force morphing sequence is likely similar to Magiranger. What I can also say about the poses in the Samurai morph is similar also to the roll call of Shinkenger
I could never work out the exact arm movements of the lightspeed rescue morph even slowing it down on UA-cam to the slowest speed it’s still ridiculously fast. Could you maybe do a video and break it down Este?
5:20 - Fun fact: That particular morph sequence was actually just the one they used for SunVulcan in Gokaiger except they replaced VulEagle with MMPR Red.
@@Chernobog2 Wait, how does Disney partially own Sun Vulcan? Edit: Never mind, did a quick search. It was the last Super Sentai season to be co-produced by Marvel Comics.

My favorite morphs out of all of them are the Crimson and Navy Thunder Rangers from Ninja Storm! Sucks that neither of them have appeared since the last team up episode. The way it was a fundamentally different morph really let them stand on their own
Other than the holograms of some form the Disney morphs were a whole different level of creativity and production to what came before and after. Samurai was at least distinct from Shinkenger's henshin. MegaForce to Dino Charge were just variations of the Sentai henshin, Ninja Steel took "ninja spin" too literally, Beast Morphers is just them standing but somehow visually more dynamic than the ninja season and the Fury seasons brought back the action in the morph.
@@hiEsteHow do you hold something and not know what it is? You freaking have Kamen Rider Black, RX, and Faiz on your banner and don't know one of the most popular Kamen Rider Gimmicks?!?! Anyway, it's the Gimmick of Zero-One.
morphing sequence really is an important part of PR. i really like when PR make original morphing sequence that more unique and sometimes better than the Sentai counterpart. my favorite is Lightspeed Rescue with the colored shield became the ranger costume. but sometimes not all morphing sequence is good for me, especially the Neo Saban and Hasbro era. i don't know why but starting from Dino Charge to Cosmic Fury, i think they use a CGI helmet rather than the real helmet on morphing sequence. it's really weird and jarring seeing them, especially when the helmet look too big in comparison to the neck and body of the actor. i think the only decent one is Ninja Steel because the morphing sequence and the helmet have a darker lighting, hiding the weird CGI helmet a bit. but no matter what, morphing sequence is an important thing for superhero show
I had no time for the individual morphin sequences after the first like 10 episodes. After that I was ready for the group/instant morphs. I felt the same about Digivolution. Until the finale. Then that needed an epic individual morph full of desperation and determination. I really wish that the last one in Countdown to Destruction would have been a full morph and not an explosion morph
The simpler the better. Mighty Morphin is still the best morphing sequence. It still hypes people more than any of the others and it’s the shortest, simplest morph yet accomplishes everything. The morphing sequences have always been CGI. If they don't seem HD now it's cos, back then, that was the standard for HD.
Technically, the first few were hand drawn or traced over the actors. But otherwise, you're absolutely right.
