I like the Febi Bilstein brand that say Volkswagen. I know that in Brazil they are making an improved version with better composites and thicker section. Thank you for the great tips. I also do the seam at 1 on the left side and 11 on the right side. I’ve also done them with the car on its weight on ramps. That gives me access underneath while keeping the axles fairly straight.
Febi Bilstein, used to be way better, now you will be lucky to get 5 years out of a set before the rubber goes bad!! Just changed a set over yesterday and the rubber was hard and cracked. Vewib are the go to ones these days way better quality rubber.
i love your content and i want to say thank you. i ended up running a limiting strap on the shock mounts for cornering and jacking. this is help out a lot so the boots don’t over flex and leak. also helped that abrupt roll in a corner.
Great stuff George, another add I do is add a little black sikaflex under the clamp surfaces as Ive had them leak from the ends too. Some of these clamps are rubbish and don't put enough even clamping pressure around the tube.
I don't mean to come off as sarcastic this is is a genuine question, where's the line between "use oil to lubricate the connection" and "if you give oil a path it will take that path"?

If it’s a gasket I’d install it dry. ( or with recommended sealant) If it’s a press in seal with a lip that rides an edge I’d lube it.
