  • Oklahoma City looks oh-so-pretty! Route 66 comes right through town. But you know, being in the Wild West is really making me want to learn more about Cowboys.. luckily I found just the place to do that, and it turns out there's an EPIC almost Disneyland style COWBOY TOWN inside! It's time for another Randomland Adventure in Oklahoma!

    Yes, most people today have know idea how hard the life of a cowboy was. Even today its pretty labor intensive. Back in my younger days, I'm 56 now, I worked summers on a ranch. Mostly fixing fence and riding herd, on a horse... And even today many cowboys/ranch hands carry a rifle when they go out onto the range.

    I will be sad when these Route 66 videos are over! You are so knowledgeable about the facts/history of Route 66 and present it so well. It's awesome to hear you talk about everything with such passion. I was born in the late 70s so I appreciate a lot of your jokes and references.. I love Back to the future too!

    I was just watching a few episodes of Huell Howser on KCET, and Justin--I realized that you could honestly be a 2017 version of him. You have the same level of enthusiasm about going to random places and meeting interesting people. Randomland....the 2010s reboot of California's Gold!

    • @LotusGinkgoMonroe
      @LotusGinkgoMonroe 7 років тому +1

      I often watched Huell Howser while visiting my parents in California (couldn't get him in Michigan), and when I discovered Justin Scarred, I found him to have many similarities to Huell. Justin doesn't do as many actual interviews as Howser, but both of them have an exquisite wonderment about everything they see, and are eager to share their findings with viewers. My late parents were big fans of Huell, and I wish I could introduce them to Justin. They'd LOVE him!

    The words Buckaroo and Buccaneer have a similar origin interestingly-both having to do with cattle. Buccaneers were originally like island cowboys or maybe more specifically island cattle hunters... and of course the term later became associated with pirates.

      They did do a remake called "Super Paperboy", though. Of course, the original game already had a sequel "Paperboy 2", so "Super" was more or less a reboot of the 8-bit classic on 16-bit hardware.

    I got the pew pew joke from the the last video, for the record - thought it was pretty witty! thanks for the videos - and thanks for keeping them clean - my 6 year old loves watching. We don't watch the Waltons, we sit around and watch Justin Scarred lol. When she does her reading homework, if she comes across the word "old" in any context, she'll say "ooooooooooooooooooooolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllldddddddddddddddddddddddddd"! She will also see large things out and about and say "would you look at the size of this?" lol - tell Ally we miss her and Mika!

    Justin, you MUST stop at POPS Restaurant! It's a more recent addition to Route 66, about 8 miles northeast of Edmond, and they have soady pops from all over the country! In front is a garrrrrr-gantuan pop bottle made of light rings, which is spectacular at night. The food's good too. I'd bet that they have some gluten-free offerings as well.
    Just down the road from there is the Round Barn, another Route 66 curiosity. And yes, it IS round! Very cool experience!
    Keep up the excellent work!

    Hey man, love your videos. This one tripped me out though. I grew up in Vegas and my parents took me to disneyland all the time so I naturally liked your videos. With that said, almost a year ago my girlfriend and I moved to Edmond to go to graduate school. I live on that street in Edmond and to have been to all the places you show in this video and to see that in your videos is a trip. Trust me though, living in the old OK state is not fun, especially to someone from the left side of the map.
