Justin, I'm the owner of the RT66FAN Camaro you met in this video. It was great meeting you and now you have another subscription and fan. Anyone with a love of this country's transportation history owes it to themselves to retrace the many alignments of Route 66 from 1926 to 1985 when it was decommissioned. You've done an excellent job of showing the armchair adventurers what lies in store if they follow in your tracks. We also stayed at the Rail Haven in Springflield and highly recommend it to Route 66 travelers. (we may have coincidentally stayed in the exact same room).
I can honestly say I have never seen a Justin video that didn't hold my undivided attention through it's entire duration & I have watch every one for a few years now! Thanks so much for all the time effort dedication & just everything you give to us in every upload you do! Take care & stay safe out there !

I love your vlogs!! I recently discovered Uranus, MO last month as I was driving from Chicago with my Aunt to Branson, MO. The billboard sign along I-44 says "The best fudge comes from Uranus". I had to take a picture of it so others would believe me! I posted it on Facebook. Priceless and clever marketing!
You really excel when you're on the road. Hopefully, you'll be taking another trip after you've finished with route 66.
l love Missouri,, we visited Grainsview couple years ago to see our daughter and her family, wish we had more time to go out and explore when we were there..it's beautiful and quite..wouldn't mind living there and I'm from a very nice part of Calif.

Welcome to Rolla, Justin! There are a few cool things around this area relating to Route 66. It's too bad you've got a schedule to keep, because I could tell you several places to check out. I wondered if you'd talk about Hooker Cut. It was said to be the deepest road cut in the country at the time, 90 feet at it's deepest. That was also only the second four-lane highway in the country at the time. I'm enjoying "riding" along on your trip. I hope to make the same trip myself one of these days!
Until about 2 years ago I use to live in the Waynesville/St Robert area. So funny watching this video with all the areas that I use to visit every day. Hope you enjoyed the trip.
I think the closed bridge you went on at around the 13 minute mark is the old gasconade river bridge. It was destroyed by the massive flooding just a month before you came.

Fort Leonard my basic training was there! It has been 22 years but the trip from St Louis to Leonard Wood for basic came flooding back!

What a great video! I've learned a few more things about that stretch of Route 66. Sad to see the Elbow Inn was affected by the flooding. Got to go there a few years ago with a friend.
My parents grew up in the Ozarks in Arkansas. They traveled RT66 in the 50's & 60's. They settled in California in the 60s. I live in Oklahoma not far from RT66 or Arkansas. Life takes it's twists and turns. I wish I could remember the stories they told me about their travels.
Justin, according to Google, there were two cars used in the MGM movie, "The Long, Long Trailer"; a 1953 Mercury Monterey convertible with a 125 HP flathead V8, and for filming of the mountain scenes they switched to a very similar-looking Lincoln Capri with a 205 HP overhead valve Y-block V8. The Lincoln was made to look as much like the Merc as possible, but one must wonder... Since the cars were both Ford Motor Company products, WHY didn't they just put the Lincoln engine in the Mercury to begin with?
The trailer was a 1953 36-foot Redman "New Moon" model, which sold new for $5, 345 (almost $50K today). It weighed more than 3 TONS - hence the car swap.
"The Long, Long Trailer" was directed by Vincente Minnelli, Liza Minnelli's father.
Thank you for a very detailed view of ol route 66. In 2008 I drove a 1922 model t the whole way to the beach in L.A. I see that much has changed in such a short time, yet so much is still the same. Looking forward to your other finds into Chicago direction. Cheers

That old bridge near Devil's Elbow was flooded out just a few weeks ago when we had historic flooding.
So cool that someone recognized Justin in that old place along the road.
I stayed the night in Rolla once, way back in 1982. There used to be an excellent diner called "Chip & Dale's" I doubt very much if it's still there.
The cabins at 16:10 were the old Spring Valley Court. Hard to find much info on it, though another Route 66 Roadie said it was constructed in 1929.
Hey Justin, Just bought my Harley Davidson that I am planning to use for my Route 66 trip. She definitely matches the era of OOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEE 66!

My ex father in law used to work for Desilu studios and he was the guy who made the giant loaf of bread for that famous episode of I Love Lucy.. It looks like the Love Lucy car (The same car used in several episodes: Episode 109 titled - Lucy Learns to Drive, first aired January 3rd 1955; Episode 110, titled “California Here We Come,” first aired January 10, 1955; Episode 111, titled “First Stop,” first aired January 17, 1955; Episode 112, titled “Tennessee Bound,” first aired January 24, 1955; Episode 113, titled “Ethel’s Hometown,” first aired January 31, 1955; and Episode 114, titled “LA at Last,” first aired February 7, 1955) was given away by TV LAND in Hollywood in the "I Love Lucy" give-away, fully restored, then ended up being sold at auction in Jan of 2015, possibly to a private party cause I can't seem to find anymore info on it, but I'm not giving up, I wanna know too. The 1955 Pontiac Star Chief Convertible (Lot #2004) crossed the auction block in Scottsdale on Tuesday, Jan. 13. 2015 and was one of more than 140 vehicles from the Ron Pratte Collection. The starting bid was $50,600.00, not sure how much it went for in the end and who bought it, just yet. I double and triple checked all this info, but there may be some misinformation.
I hope this satisfies some of your courtesy, I'm at a bit of a frustrating dead end tonight, but like I said, I'm not giving up. You would think whoever bought the car would want to show it off? After all, ''It belongs in a museum!'' ;) LOL #DrJones But thank goodness for the internet! Or I would not of even gotten this far tonight.

I don't live far from where Ricky & Lucy lived when they were in the San Fernando Valley/Chatsworth before they moved out to Beverley Hills with the movie stars and swimmin pools :)They didn’t have the 405 and all that back then and getting out to Hollywood from the valley was a lot of jibber jabber, as I'm sure you know, cause you know a lot about a lot of things! :) The Desilu Ranch is all gone now :( There are about 3 to 4 1/2 track homes on the land, they were all built in the 70's.
I've always loved Lucy too, and completely agree with Justin about her being the best comedian. Desi was pretty fantastic too.....his "eye pop" was hysterical!

I actually had my husband buy me the entire boxed set of all of the shows last Christmas. I noticed that the episodes on T.V. were looking more than a bit worn, so now I watch them on my nice, clear, crisp DVD's. :-)
