IMO the original scenes for the hospital room and the bridge were better than the DVD versions because it keeps the slightly light hearted magical girl anime feeling you should have for the first 2 episodes making the impact of episode 3's ending that much greater.
I get some of the changes in the atmosphere of the BD version, considering it makes the point of Sayaka's message more clear. Our characters live a privileged life in a wealthy city and live in grand houses and apartments, which contrasted to a person who lives in more desperate times more deserving of a wish according to Sayaka.
Still, there's two ways one can go at it. Mami's decked-out house could show that she had plenty of time to herself to decorate, creating a facade that she's still living a normal life, but also - more sadly - is that maybe she decorated it so much because she had always wanted to have guests over and wanted it to look as nice as possible. I do still prefer the TV version as it gets the point across easier, but Mami's super-fancy home is too fancy to not be suspicious, since she's living alone.
Mami's house being he most obvious (and probably not necessary. Maybe a few details, but not that much).. most of the changes are needed.. Besides, as they go through the entire thing to re-render it at 1080p, they can make subtle changes to lighting, and the additional resolution means more detail. At least they are making it worth the full 1920x1080 resolution.
Couldn't it also be argued that the reason Mami's home has all that stuff was to fill that void her family left behind? You do bring up a great point though, which is one that I never really thought of.
In relation to Mami, I actually prefer the TV version. The emptiness of Mami's home symbolized how lonely her entire life was (after losing her parents/before meeting Madoka). Besides, the DVD version makes those scenes look cluttered. Loved most of the other edits, though. They sure changed a lot, didn't they?
I think it's this : 89p1WTs_8jw There's also this though, but the background leads me to think of the former: QVsqxJhozws (replace the stuff after watch?v= with the codes to get to the video)
@dino12ful well, i think you mean demise and i doubt you have someone repeating timelines centered around you to give you enough magical energy to create a new universe.
I never seen the tv version on the internet, just the bd version. they both look as though they make a different atmosphere in the anime

So, can we we go with multi-universe theory and say that the TV and Blu-ray versions are two different but almost identical parallel-universes?

Thaister 56 But it's kinda boring
That's my opinion
Thaister 56 But Yeah tv version is more friendly

Madoka TV: Too close Sayaka.
Madoka BD: Thank you.
1:06 The Blu Ray version has the table border right at Mami's neck. ;_;
There are sparklies on the chocolate-like "ceiling" of the room in the witch barrier. Not much in that scene was changed.
Couldn't it also be argued that the reason Mami's home has all that stuff was to fill that void her family left behind? You do bring up a great point though, which is one that I never really thought of.

SHAFT went -monogatari on Madoka?
the only thing left was Koiyomi biking in the BG...
0:21 Wait, Mami only have a table in her house on TV version????? That's toooooo plain. Bluray seems more detailed!
But it sort makes sense in that she is lonely and has literally no one.

@purplewind555 TV版本因為311地震一度停播(劇情太過悲慘?)部分片段經過修剪後復播
please tell me whats the BD means? i only know the TV ....i was wondering what was the BD one?
BD版のマミさん、背景どころか「口」も変わってんだなぁ…
個人的には、TVの方が好きだけどw
Good point. I never considered that.
whats the full word of BD plz? and ofc i prefer to watch BD rather then TV
Yeah, that's pretty much the main opposing argument. I think it makes sense, too xD
It's like a completely different show...
Man, what a huge difference!
Is there any obvious difference scenes when Mami got you know... Charlotte'd?
Sorry, don't wanna spoil anything.
So is this comparing what it shown on television and what is shown when you actually purchase it on DVD?
I think so, but the quality of TV is very bad
原來我是看BD的
Blackburn 劉 比較想看TV
The TV version seems a bit more realistic...
Where did you get the screenshots from?
差距相當大...
Huh... other than the cleaning up of the quality of animation I actually prefer the TV version for almost everything...
OMG, where can I get the violin version of Mami's theme?
全体的に書き直してるわね・・
BD 跟 TV 到底哪個才是正常的阿......!!!???
Some changes are actually worse than the original.
