I've got 3 cajons and I built all of them. :) all are different styles. My primary is a bit bigger, I put a drum set seat cushion on it, and it has a snare wire system that I put on it that can be turned on and off. Another cajon ("normal size") has a plexiglass playing surface (tapa) and makes for some unique sounds. and my last cajon is a slanted (angled) cajon that I integrated guitar strings inside that has guitar tuners inside that I can adjust the tension on them as well. I love cajon and it makes for a nice "drum set in a box." ;)
Thanks Ross. My cajon came with instructions on tuning, and advised not to tighten or loosen a screw greater than one turn. It also said that the cajon will (paraphrasing) season with playing. Merry Christmas!
It would almost be enough for me to learn the few seconds from the intro. Unfortunately my snare sounds that bad that it's no fun. Have you (or anyone) ever heard of a good way to upgrade a glued case with a better one? Even if it's not that much fun at the moment, thank you very much for your videos. I wish Cajon had existed when I was a teenager, but... there was no UA-cam back then either 😄 Merry Christmas from me too 🎅
Merry Christmas! 🎄 ❤
❤
Merry belated Christmas Ross! Very cool to see how you tune your Cajon.
@ thanks! It really just stays in tune how I like it all the time but it was fun to show some other options.
Happy new year sweetheart ❤

Very cool. The customization possibilities are endless!

Thanks, yeah it's interesting how much a cajon "seasons" over time! I agree with that.

Merry Christmas! I think it’s always possible to re-work and upgrade your drum. If you know a carpenter, they might be able to explore ideas with you.
