It's 1989 and I am sitting alone in my mom's garage, after having a garage sale that day to sell the rest of her belongings. She had passed away 3 months prior. Anyway, I was looking across the road at the little country church and a field that lay beyond it. The sun was just above the horizon - soon to set. I had a Enya cassette tape playing and her song "Miss Claire Remembers" came on and to this day, I can feel that perfect peace that I felt, at that moment in time. I am convinced it was a gift from above, an extra measure of comfort when I so needed it.🌹🙏
One of the most beautifully, otherworldly, angelic composers of that time; her "Watermark" album doesn't have a bad song. Her music has been used in many films, commercials, etc. She plays all the instruments, as well, in "Watermark". Beautifully emotional stuff.
Also, props to whoever chose the music to the Steve Martin movie L.A. story. Enya's tracks add to the movie's surreal take on romance. Just gorgeous. Criminally underrated and sweet movie too.
Did you notice how both of you started breathing differently when her song started? She has the ability, if only for a few minutes, to melt your stress away.
Enya does all of the voices, humming, and most of the instrumentation. I find her music angelic. This one usually brings me to tears. She's an extremely talented woman.
It does make me laugh though, that you can't tell if you're listening to Orinoco Flow or China in your Hands until you get a few bars in. How did that happen?
Same here, 55 years old . I have an Enya Playlist for music to sleep by. I have always left music on while I sleep and Enya is soothing and helps me stay asleep.
@@TheFalconerNZ My introduction as well. I call it my favorite mostly because it was the song that introduced me to her, but pretty much anything from her rates high on my list. This coming from a classic rock/prog rock fan.
I have listened to Enya for 35 years. The word for her music is ethereal. Her catalogue is massive. Her song, “Orinoco Flow” has been covered by so many groups including Celtic Woman and Twelve Girl Band. Check it out along with “Storms In Africa,” “Anywhere Is” and “Silent Night (in Gaelic). More please!
So glad you finally got around to Enya. Maybe the most wispy, lilting, soothing voice of all time. You've (kind of) heard the song she did for the LOTR series, "May It Be". Other great ones of hers are "Amarantine", "Caribbean Blue", "Sail Away (Orinoco Flow)" and "Book of Days". Her voice is almost medieval, like it should be sung in an ancient castle or cathedral.
@@davewildermuth7519 I just had to look that one up. Yes I had heard it before! I often don't know the names of songs. And I just learned a really cool tidbit, that it is a waulking song. What is waulking? It is when a group of women sits at a table and bangs newly woven wool tweed against the table to soften it. As they lift and bang it, they slowly move it to the left. Check this out. ua-cam.com/video/DizaHmKHfaw/v-deo.html
Caribbean Blue should be your next Enya reaction. Her voice is gorgeous. The intro of it is amazing. I would listen to it with my headphones on, way too loud, eyes closed, and just zone out
This song was rising up the singles chart on 9/11/01. It went top 10 the next month. I recently put this song in my all-time top 10. The chorus is so amazing!!! She sounds great. She said she doesn't listen to mainstream music, so she can keep her songs unique to the masses. I actually love that about her.
Yes, the song was used as a remembrance to the fallen lives from 9/11 that was accompanied with video of the heroes that day trying to save lives. I don’t know who put the video and song together.
This song was also used in a bunch of promos for Friends before Monica and Chandler’s wedding. I can’t remember where that fell in the timeline, like how far after 9/11.
There's something about Irish women singers .. just like with Dolores O'Riordan and Sinead O'Connor, Enya's voice has such a calming and soothing effect on you whenever you hear it.
Years ago, when Enya first came into the music scene, I heard "Orinoco Flow" being played in a music store. The music was so beautiful and haunting that I had to find out who she was. I asked the cashier and learned it was Enya. I Immediately bought her cd. Since then I've bought every one she's made. She writes and performs all her own work. Thanks for the reaction. She lives in a castle.
There will never be another voice like hers. Are you sure she lives in a castle? I have looked in almost all the White Castles and haven't found her yet! LOL Seriously, if she lives in a real castle, her maintenance expense must be astronomical.
Lol, same here...I heard Orinoco Flow on one of those CD sampler machines with the original Pure Moods CD...and man is that disc solid...Enya, Enigma, Sacred Spirits, DJ Dado (X-Files), Tubular bells, and a few movie themes to round it out...still some of my favorite "New Age" music...
I love enya, the very first song I heard from her in the late 90' was Orinoco flow, she has such an angelic voice. I'm so glad you guys liked her voice iam infatuated with the way she projects her voice so softly yet strong at some points in her music.
As an Irish woman I grew up with Enya , love this Track ,I believe “ May it be “ was the song she recorded for Lord Of The Rings ,also worth a listen ,cheers guys 😊
Her song, “May it be” written for the Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Rings” was nominated for an Oscar. It didn’t win, but it should have. It is my favorite Enya. 7:24
Enya is a deep well of mesmerizing songs. You will never regret that journey. Book of Days, Orinoco Flow, and Storms in Africa are her traditional gateway songs to her catalog.
I chose "Book of Days" as the theme song and title of my late night Hospital Radio show, back in the day. "Calming moods and songs that tell a story" was the aim, for folks whose sense of "bedtime" was knocked out of wack by by having to lie in one all the time! =:o}
Enya is a musical legend whom I have been listening to for decades. Her music is ethereal in its magic. Being Irish, her native language is actually Gaeilge, or Irish Gaelic, which she uses in some of her songs. She composes most of her songs, and everything she does is exceptional. She was contacted by Peter Jackson to specifically compose her music for the Lord of the Rings movies, because he wanted it to sound magical. Some of my favorites of hers are Caribbean Blue, China Roses, Wild Child, Amarantine, and It's in the Rain. You must listen to It's in the Rain; it's just awesome, as is most of her songs.
As many have noted, Enya was briefly in her family's band, Clannad with her sister Maire/Moya. I first saw Clannad live on the Mall in DC in the summer of 1976. I last saw them on Valentines Day 2014 at the MIM in Phoenix. Alas, Moya's uncle Pádraig died two years later, and uncle Noel died just last year. "In a Lifetime" was a minor hit for them ( because of Bono, of U2 lending some vocals ), and "The Theme to Harry's Game" was also a big hit, and was also used in the Harrison Ford / Jack Ryan movie "Patriot Games". Give them a listen. I think you will like.
I had no idea Enya started out in music in Clannad. I know of the band and that they are Irish so I wasn’t too surprised to know this. So Clannad is made up of all her family members and her younger sister is a solo singer as well u say.
Nice. Only a true music lover can go from the Platters, to Percy Sledge, to Metallica, to Depeche Mode, to Jay-Z, to Enya and see....MUSIC. Rob and Amber know this. Wonderful Channel. The lyrics of this particular piece from Enya are so incredibly deep. She has other equally great ones. Caribbean Blue stands out. But you heard her in Lord of the Rings "May It Be."
@@sheilameyers152 RIGHT?! So unique. Even as a 20-year Marine combat Vet, I feel like I want to hug strangers and tell them that life is better than they think it is and to explore and make it even better. Now go away. Time to dry up and listen to Metallica man music. ...drum...drum..hard core...drum...bass....
The first time I saw the video for Caribbean Blue, I was completely mesmerized; I still can get lost in her eyes. Earlier one the quality wasn't there, but there is a 4K one, and things are clearer.
Enya is in a category all her own. So unique. So beautiful. Always loved her. I get chills from her songs. The harmonies are unmatched. Every Enya album is worth listening to all the way through. One beautiful song after another.
Enya is well used for guided meditations. Strangely enough, I discovered her when I was in prison. My cell mate used to listen to her and got me hooked. I still listen to her to this day as part of my own guided meditations. Life changing to say the least.
If you're in the US, I'm sorry about how our system treated and still treats you. It needs so much reform, and i hope your experience wasn't too traumatizing for you.
@@Palitato I've seen a lot of paperwork from other inmates. Helping people with appeals and the likes. The number of innocent people in prison is a lot higher than the public knows about. But the time in prison changes most people, and they cannot conform back to being in society. Too many people came back, only because society refused to give a chance to a convicted felon. Once a person sees himself as a convict, or sees the social injustice of the system, the desire to be law-abiding drastically diminishes.
I used to fly from US to Hong Kong often for business. 16 hours in a tube but planned for when we would get to the vast emptiness of polar region and upper Mongolia I would put my Enya on and create a truly "out of body" experience looking out the window and listening. Only Time, Orinoco Flow, Watermark, Caribbean Blue, etc. Glad you guys covered Enya!! Thank you.
Yaaaaaaas! Thanks for reacting to Enya!!!I absolutely adore her! Her voice drew me in nearly 40 years ago. It captured me, and still holds me to this day. I have an Enya playlist with all of her albums on it and frequently listen to her. Enya does sing in Latin and Gaelic but she and her producer Roma Ryan created an entirely new language that only Enya sings in for many songs. The vocals on her tracks including the background are all Enya. She plays many of the instruments you hear as well. Enya is a legend! Thanks so much. I am glad you liked her. She IS special.
YAY!! I have been suggesting Enya for ever, because I knew you guys would love her. I think Ethereal and haunting are good ways to describe her, Next up for her please do, the incredible ORINOCO FLOW, prepare to be swept away!! In comments someone described her as what happens when the woman pictured on the sewing pattern package comes to life. Fun fact, many people thought when Titanic came out , she was on the soundtrack, but actually she turned down James Cameron, the director, who is, one of the most powerful people in Hollywood because of creative control differences. Now that is a badass move!!
Enya is special. Those choir harmonies are multiple tracks of her own voice layered multiple times. She is known for even layering over 100 vocal tracks on certain songs. She is an angel, btw. And though many of her songs arenot sung in English, they are beauty beyond language, and you will find yourself speaking that other language because of her exquisite melodies. ❤
Enya is an outstanding artist, She first appeared in a group called Clannad. They had a hit with the theme to a TV series called Harry's game. It was haunting and showcased her vocal talents. It was no surprise to see her go solo and her career brought her great riches and fame. She now owns her own island in Ireland her home country. Her voice is unique and one to be cherished for I believe the like of it will never happen again in my lifetime.
OK...I am a 60 yr old man...I grew up on Sabbath, Zeppelin, RUSH, Metallica, etc., but enjoy so much more than just those, ...and I have 4 Enya CD's. They are Mood Music. As all of her songs are similar in mood as this one, Only Time, which is a good one. More to try from her are: Orinoco Flow__Caribbean Blue__Anywhere Is__Echoes In Rain__Cursum Perficio__Storms In Africa & part II__On Your Shore__Flora's Secret.
Wow so excited you guys checked out Enya. I discovered and fell in love with her about 30 years ago. Have all her albums. She truly sings like an Angel 😇. I feel complete peace when I listen to her songs. Next songs to checkout, "Caribbean Blue" " Orinoco Flow" and "China Roses"
If Celine Dion is a bolt of lightning then Enya is the morning mist. They are probably the two greatest female artists but at completely different ends of the spectrum. It’s amazing how strength can be expressed in raw explosive power or in sweet contemplative gentleness.
I also am a 80s rocker but there's nothing comparable to the sweet peacefulness in all Enya songs. She writes and sings all lead and harmony vocals. And btw the effect is reverb (reveberation), almost always present in any music but emphasized in her records. Absolutely beautiful.
Her and her sister both (who was the lead singer for Clannad of Harry's Game fame and others) they have the kind of voices dreams are made of. Carribean Blue, Aniron, Boudicea are probably my favorites although there's just so many emotional and heartfelt songs. The video for Caribbean Blue especially because it tells a story and reminds me of when I was a kid. Fairies, Witches, and Adventurers and and those grand old storybooks that have long gone out of print.
As much as I truly enjoy Enya's voice, IMO Maire's is just a tiny bit better. Just a personal preference of mine. But song selection is also part of it. Maire (Moya) sings more in Irish than Enya does, and the language so perfectly suits her voice.
You've just entered the rabbit hole. I've listened to the majesty of Enya for over 35 years, she is her own genre. I've not encountered such talent in any other artist or group of artists. Why doesn't she tour? Because for most of her songs she sings all of the vocals (which is why the harmonies are so perfect) and plays most, if not all of the instruments, and it takes the technological capability of overdubbing to display her genius. "Only Time" is an incredible song, but not even in the top 10 of Enya's oeuvre. I encourage you to dive into the Enya rabbit hole, you will discover a whole new wonderland.
I consider myself a music lover of rock and roll. My wife who likes Enya couldn't believe I listen to Enya. What a voice, I bought all her CD's after hearing her sing Orinoco Flow.
Good call Amber - Enya is a siren! Her voice and music are gorgeous and mesmerizing! You really need to listen to her sing "Exile". Absolutely enchanting!!! You should also listen to Loreena McKinnitt sing "The Mummer's Dance" - the live version from the Alhambra is amazing. Besides the voice of an angel, the old time instruments in use are just fantastic. Love you two!!!😊
I've been a fan of Enya and her family (who performs in the Irish folk band Clannad) for many decades now. "Only Time" was a balm for our nation in the aftermath of September 11, 2001. Her vocals had a calming effect and the words of "Only Time" being the remedy for the pain we all felt. She's a true gift to the world.
I was a fan of Clannad from their 1984 music for the TV series Robin of Sherwood, then I came across Enya in 1986 when she did the themes for the Tv series The Celts. Then I found out they were related ;)
@@dmandrewsauthor Similar path of discovery here. Loved the BBC Robin series, probably the best I've seen still to this day. Been following them both for many, many years now.
I have been a fan of Clannad from being a teenager in the 80's. I bought Watermark at University in the late 80's and was just captivated. My brother-in-law made me laugh. He had the misfortune of having his student room broken into and they stole all his CD's - except Enya/Watermark! I love her music. It's so beautiful and so clever. My favourite song of hers by far is "Caribbean Blue" from the 1991 album "Shepherd Moons". I was a big fan of "Robin of Sherwood" (and yeah I rather liked Michael Praed 🥰) but the Clannad music was outstanding. More Enya/Clannad please!
Glad you finally tried Enya! She is the best-selling Irish solo artist in history, and 2nd best selling Irish artist behind only U2. Many more great songs from her: Orinoco Flow (aka Sail Away), Caribbean Blue, How Can I Keep from Singing?, and especially Book of Days (featured in the movie Far and Away).
Y’all been sleeping in Enya. You can’t go wrong with anything on her greatest hits album. I love her older stuff: Watermark, Orinoco flow, **Storms in Africa, Caribbean Blue, Book of Days….we need more Enya reactions!
Yes this is ALL Enya! All the voices is her. She layers them. She also does the instruments. Her catalogue is beyond fantastic. Her songs in Gaelic are a must! Boadicea is a favorite.
This record was in my brother's car stereo when he passed away, so we played the entire album on repeat at his wake because he clearly had a fondness of it. This song, in particular, brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. Miss you Kev ❤
Enya is one of those artists where it feels like literally nothing out there sounds like the music she makes. You certainly have people in the same genre making similar music, but Enya always sounds like she's truly one of a kind.
Enya is known as a Celtic New-Age artist... If you like her I think you would also like Loreena McKennitt. She is also New-Age but she melds Celtic and Middle Eastern music. One of her biggest commercially successful songs was "The Mummer's Dance". One of my personal favorites by her is the "Marrakesh Night Market". Her music is very dynamic and her voice hauntingly beautiful. She uses a number of different instruments in her music... Celtic Harp, Fiddle, conga drums, accordion... she manages to intertwine both Celtic rhythms and middle eastern into a emotional journey to exotic places.
@@dmandrewsauthor Unfortunately the category of "New Age" has become a catch all music category for any music that that can be considered soothing/relaxing that doesn't fit any of the other standard music genres.
I'm a hard core metal head. I listen to the heaviest, darkest metal out there. I am not one bit ashamed to say that I love Enya. I have all her albums and some soundtracks from movies that feature her.She is heaven sent no doubt.
Enya is so underrated. This song gives me goosebumps every time. Storms in Africa is my fave but Caribbean blue is also a good one. Quite a few lines are in Gaelic, a local language.
When my Mom passed in 2008, I used Enya's May It Be as one of the memorial songs that played to her slide show at the Wake. My siblings were surprised I chose it because I'm such a rock and roller. But I thought it was so fitting. Very angelic voice.
Knew you'd love her!! Such a unique voice and vibe!! Please check out her songs Orinoco Flow, Marble Halls, Watermark, May It Be, Evening Falls, Storms in Africa, Anywhere Is, Ebudae, & Miss Clare Remembers. Also the original band she was in Clannad. Their hauntingly beautiful songs In A Lifetime & Theme From "Harry's Game" will give you chills. Lastly, Loreena McKinnett has an amazing song, The Mummer's Dance. Love you guys, keep smiling and Happy New Year!! 🎶✨💖✨🎶
Enya is my stress reliever, happy brain chemical producer, time machine to my 20s, meditation guide... I think my favorite song of hers is "How Can I Keep From Singing?" That song brings me out of my body like no other. My dad loved her music and he was taken way too soon in 1996 at the age of 61... we played that song at his memorial, so that just adds another layer to where her voice takes me.
I've been listening to Enya for decades. Her voice triggers those creative juices I need to express my inner self. I listen to her exclusively when I paint. I still listen to the same CD I bought in 1997 "Paint the Sky with Stars" If you engage in any creative activity, this is the album to listen to while your art blossoms. Thanks for the reaction!
Enya is nothing short of a Celtic Goddess! She’s been producing this unique style of adult contemporary music for decades now, and originated with her family’s band ‘Clannad’. They remain active, though she was only with them for a very short period of time before going solo. 1. Orinoco Flow 2. Caribbean Blue 3. Book of Days 4. Storms in Africa 5. Watermark (short, no vocals) If you want a taste of Clannad, and a sound very similar to Enya, they have a slow, whispy/chanty, Christmas song called “Dealramh Go Deo”. It’s in Irish or Celtic maybe. Close your eyes and fall even further into your chair.
@@johntiggleman4686 he featured them in a song, or vice versa, called “In A Lifetime”. He was not a member, they are strictly a family band made up of “Duggans” and “Brennans”.
One thing that sets Enya apart is her dedication to making every song as beautiful as possible. If you think about it, not many musicians strive for pure beauty, but Enya always does.
I used to play Enya at nap time for my kids. (I love her music!) To this day, all three of my kids get tired when I play anything from Enya, lol! 😂 They are now 28, 23, and 18 years old.
Ugh...i'm pretty sure she can be easily fall into - celtic/folk/ethnic/trip-hop/downtempo category...nothing unique about that, there are gazillion of artists of this kind...Enya and her sister Moya are just top of the line...
Her voice is unique though...there lots of celtic artists, but what sets her apart from the rest is her way of singing! It's not the style and genre she sings in, it's HOW she sings it...
Enya's first big single in the US was Sail Away (Orinoco Flow) and it was a really big deal at the time. Would be an excellent follow up to this reaction. Enya is a the little sister to another really amazing irish vocalist, Moya Brennan, the lead singer for the band Clannad. If you are interested, Clannad also works in this irish folk/new age style of music. One of their songs, 'Theme from Harry's Game," is heavily sampled in popular music.
I sometimes throw a little dirt with a Go Bills for fun on your videos. I went to the game last night and I have to say Bengals fans will now forever have my respect. What a horrible situation and the way they all reached out, respected, and were just good people really impacted me. They're like you. There are good people.
I am likely one of her biggest fans…she is the only recording artist I listen to, to calm my soul. I own every single recording she has released…I find her to be a genius New Age artist. You have a HUGE HUGE HUGE catalog to go over. Just about every album she has released is worth listening to from beginning to end. Next Top 2 songs you need to hear are: ORINOCO FLOW, and CARIBBEAN BLUE.
Enya... love her, hav3 followed her forever. All her music is 100% her. She plays all the instruments and background vocals along with the lead vocals. Her songs are written in English, Latin and Irish.
Enya is a former member of the family group, Clannad. They also have a lot of songs with a similar sound. I would recommend their album, "Anam". It has "Theme from Harry's Game" which was also used in the film "Patriot Games" with Harrison Ford. Other songs from that album I recommend are "Anam", "The Poison Glen", and "In a Lifetime" which features Bono from U2. Also, another beautiful song from an Irish woman I hope you listen to is "Never Saw Blue" (4:28 length) by Haley Westenra. It will make you cry tears of joy.
This angel lives alone, in Manderley Castle, in Killiney, County, on the east coast of Ireland - built in 1841. Her next door neighbor is Bono. At last count, she has sold over 70 million albums.
So happy for you guys having discovered Enya's beautiful emotive music, there is a huge back catalogue of dreamy songs to appreciate, take your time getting through it.
Wow, a reaction channel who is finally doing Enya. She is one of my top 5 artists! I have been listening to her since 1990. Love her, I have all of her CDs, and it never gets old listening to her. She takes you to a time we all remember! You can't go wrong with any of ger CDs. Her sister had a band called Clannad. She did a piece in the Last of The Mohicans. Great artist! Another artist I recommend is Loreena McKinnett. Another wordly artist!Amber, I get exactly what you are saying. She touches your soul and, in my opinion, takes you home.
@robsquadreaction5 Hi Rob Squad, I'm messaging you! Lol...I have enjoyed your channel from day one. Rob, you being introduced to AC/DC was the first time I saw your channel. From there, I was hooked. You have grown. And Amber coming on the scene was a perfect choice. You guys rock! Whats telegram?
A few years ago we were in Belgium visiting a cave system which included a natural theatre deep in one of the caves . We filed in, all the lights were turned off and then they starting playing Enya. The effect was magical with the wonderful acoustics in the cave.
She's was born in the Irish speaking part of Ireland, and her real name is Eithne Pádraigín Ní Bhraonáin, so you can see why she changed the spelling of her first name :) As a matter of fact, her sister Maire changed the spelling of her name too, to Moya, which is phonetically how most Irish would pronounce the name (more or less haha). My ancestor's native tongue is replete with letters that don't get pronounced, or are pronounced completely differently than you would think.
I'm glad you finally listened to Enya. I like her music. Some of her albums I play in the background when I read books. She sings in different languages. That made it even more ethereal and mysterious. She had a big hit with her song "Orinoco Flow".
Orinoco Flow was her breakthrough hit in 87/88. She's one of the topselling certified artists. You could listen to 20 of her songs and LOVE all of them.
Enya is amazing, I love all her songs... it's so true so many of Irish singers and even dancers like Riverdance, they have this mystical and mesmerising effect, it's beautiful 🥰🤍❤

She layers her voice from 30 to over 100 times depending on the song. That gives it the ethereal feel. She's an angel.
That's what's nuts about her vocals. And probably explains the methodical production processes her crew goes through.

There are only two artists who will literally give me chills. Enya and Kate Bush. Their voices are just angelic!
And The Hounds of Love is still - 40 years later is still, I think, the best modern album recorded.
One of the greatest things about Enya? She plays virtually all the instruments in her music. A true talent:
Just like Mean Mary
This song was rising up the singles chart on 9/11/01. It went top 10 the next month. I recently put this song in my all-time top 10. The chorus is so amazing!!! She sounds great. She said she doesn't listen to mainstream music, so she can keep her songs unique to the masses. I actually love that about her.
People on VH1's "I Love The New Millennium" basically said that everyone was just so "numb",
that we didn't want to listen to anything except Enya.
I can’t believe it’s been over twenty years 😅
Yes, the song was used as a remembrance to the fallen lives from 9/11 that was accompanied with video of the heroes that day trying to save lives. I don’t know who put the video and song together.
This song was also used in a bunch of promos for Friends before Monica and Chandler’s wedding. I can’t remember where that fell in the timeline, like how far after 9/11.
Yup...I always think of 9/11 when I hear that song...I find it melancholy.
There's something about Irish women singers .. just like with Dolores O'Riordan and Sinead O'Connor, Enya's voice has such a calming and soothing effect on you whenever you hear it.
And Enya's sister Moira with her band Clannad of course
Don't forget Mary Black.
so true. check out annabel sweeney singing fields of gold with celtic women. her voice is really something else
@@theloneranger8725 the castle is Manderley Castle, formerly Victoria Castle, in Killiney, County Dublin, Ireland.
Orinoco Flow was the jam back in the 90s. The other Enya track I remember is Book of Days from Far and Away.
Pentatonix sampled a small bit of Enya/Orinoco Flow in their original song Be My Eyes.....it's really good and completely Acapella
Agree!
They reacted, to the films.
I recommended, "May It Be", and "Into The West".
@@calebclunie4001 Good on you! My Mom wanted "Into the West" for her funeral. We played it at the cemetery.
If they listen to May It Be with the LOTR video that goes with it they will have the best of both worlds
I agree!
Yep. Agree
Enya is a deep well of mesmerizing songs. You will never regret that journey. Book of Days, Orinoco Flow, and Storms in Africa are her traditional gateway songs to her catalog.
All amazing songs!!highly recommend every one of them!!!😄
Oronico Flow is another great for Enya.
Love storms of africa
Caribbean blue
I chose "Book of Days" as the theme song and title of my late night Hospital Radio show, back in the day. "Calming moods and songs that tell a story" was the aim, for folks whose sense of "bedtime" was knocked out of wack by by having to lie in one all the time! =:o}
I think this song crept into the very fabric of the universe….at atomic level , when it came out. It was EVERYWHERE and evokes so many memories. 👼🏻
There's no effects in her voice! That's her natural voice so beautiful so calm so mesmerising absolutely gorgeous 😍 ✨️ 💕 💖
There's added reverb, but that's just 'cause it's more convenient than buying her own cathedral to record in. =:o}
Truth. Loved her for years. She's truly is a legend without peer.
Clannad is great. I'm so envious of you seeing them live. I listened to the "Macalla" album so much back in the 80s.
I had no idea Enya started out in music in Clannad. I know of the band and that they are Irish so I wasn’t too surprised to know this. So Clannad is made up of all her family members and her younger sister is a solo singer as well u say.
Clannad is amongst my favorite bands. I especially love their CD “Lore”.
Clannad also has music in The Last of the Mohicans. 😊 What an incredible experience it must have been to see them live.🥰
THANK YOU!!!! For getting around to this fabulous and tragically overlooked talented woman!! 💙💜💙💜💙💜
Enya with her angelic voice always captures me and takes me to a mind space that I need at that given time! Love her singing!
@@johntiggleman4686 The Caribbean Blue video did it for me too. Like you, I was mesmerized. So different and so pure in sound.
"But you heard her in Lord of the Rings "May It Be." Doubtful. No one their age watches movie credits.
"Magical" is a great word to describe Enya and her music. It's so ethereal and otherworldly in the best way. ❤️
Enya is in a category all her own. So unique. So beautiful. Always loved her. I get chills from her songs. The harmonies are unmatched. Every Enya album is worth listening to all the way through. One beautiful song after another.
Enya's music has such an ethereal, angelic yet haunting quality that transports you beyond this earthly realm....
She creates a heavenly, celestial mood with her music 🎶.
Love this song by Enya is sooo calming and soothing I could put this on a loop for hrs. Excellent Choice!
Now that is a badass move!!
big fan of her classics...Orinoco Flow was a wonderful introduction for me...Celtic Legend!
"On your Shore" and "Evening Falls"....Watermark Album
"On my way home"
If Celine Dion is a bolt of lightning then Enya is the morning mist. They are probably the two greatest female artists but at completely different ends of the spectrum. It’s amazing how strength can be expressed in raw explosive power or in sweet contemplative gentleness.
Well said!!!
Morning mist, great description
This comment wins the Internet today people.
@@davidstanton4716 wow I’ve never won the internet before.
@@sweeney60 well you have now buddy lol. Wonderfully worded comment deserves it
Yeeeessss! I suggested this artist soooooo long ago. Glad you finally entered the world of Enya! It's hard not to love this music
I also am a 80s rocker but there's nothing comparable to the sweet peacefulness in all Enya songs. She writes and sings all lead and harmony vocals. And btw the effect is reverb (reveberation), almost always present in any music but emphasized in her records. Absolutely beautiful.
She writes, composes and creates all of the music and vocals.
This song was HUGE when it came out! Listening to Enya always gives me the chills ❤
Love all her stunning songs! "Caribbean Blue" and "Wild Child" are my favorites.
Wild Child is one of my favorites too!
Claanad did Harrys game in the movie patriot games with Harrison Ford=very awesome tune
Watermark is one of the most relaxing instrumentals. I put it on repeat to sleep by! Great meditation singer.
The amazing talent of Enya....she writes, plays all instruments, sings all voices, and produces all of it. And it is always beautiful.
Yes this is ALL Enya! All the voices is her. She layers them. She also does the instruments. Her catalogue is beyond fantastic. Her songs in Gaelic are a must! Boadicea is a favorite.
Thank you! Boadicea is my absolute favorite too.
Enya gets her sound by recording her voice sometimes 100 times over on top of each recording…by doing this you get this super angelic sound.
Yes, Enya is classed as New Age but I've never thought that very accurate. She is her own genre. McKennit's Mummer's Dance is great!
Love Enya's sound. This tune came out and she was mesmerizing. Orinoco Flow was a big hit. Makes me feel like I should be at a spa.
Thank you for featuring Enya. I don't know how to describe her. It's flowing and epic. She is a Diamond in the rough.
OMG OMG...you found Enya!!!! 😍She is amazing!!!! Listening to her puts me on a higher spiritual plane. You two have great taste in music!! 😄
Love Loreena McKinnett! I immediately think of her in the same league as Enya.
Also from Loreena McKinnett I love All Souls Night.
I'm so glad you mentioned Clannad! Enya and her siblings are all so talented, and very much worth a listen.
Orinoco Flow and Caribbean Blue are also epic journeys of sound. Glad you found the internal peace Enya brings.
This song was played a lot around 9-11 it was released Nov 2000 please don't forget Level 42 Something about you. 😘
The night of 9/11, they were playing this song. I wept my eyes out that night...
Enya is nothing short of a Celtic Goddess! She’s been producing this unique style of adult contemporary music for decades now, and originated with her family’s band ‘Clannad’. They remain active, though she was only with them for a very short period of time before going solo.
1. Orinoco Flow
2. Caribbean Blue
3. Book of Days
4. Storms in Africa
5. Watermark (short, no vocals)
If you want a taste of Clannad, and a sound very similar to Enya, they have a slow, whispy/chanty, Christmas song called “Dealramh Go Deo”. It’s in Irish or Celtic maybe. Close your eyes and fall even further into your chair.
Wasn't Bono part of Clannad?
@@johntiggleman4686 he featured them in a song, or vice versa, called “In A Lifetime”. He was not a member, they are strictly a family band made up of “Duggans” and “Brennans”.
@@talkswithdave I saw that later reading comments on another Enya video.
Enya is her own genre all by herself. There's nothing like her. A true original. Check out "Orinoco Flow" if you want more of her.
She sings her on backing vocals. She is almost angelic in her grace
There is a lot of music that touches the soul. Enya's not only touches, it embraces.
I love On My Way Home by Enya. She is amazing. An angelic voice.
Enya is blessed with a beautiful voice........you cannot hear her sing and be unmoved......
You guys - understand that Enya was HUGE in the 90's and ORINOCO FLOW was EVERYWHERE! Yes her music got radio play.
Enya... love her, hav3 followed her forever. All her music is 100% her. She plays all the instruments and background vocals along with the lead vocals. Her songs are written in English, Latin and Irish.
Prince of Monaco had her come to sing and introduced her as the one who could lower your blood pressure by listening to her music ❤❤❤❤❤
Her sister is also a singer, she is in the band Clannad. An Irish band you should also check out. This hole is deep. Absolutely beautiful!
Great group.
They gotta check out Clannad! Love them.
Have been a fan of Enya from when she hit the charts in the early 80s. Just beautiful.
I'm glad you finally listened to Enya. I like her music. Some of her albums I play in the background when I read books. She sings in different languages. That made it even more ethereal and mysterious. She had a big hit with her song "Orinoco Flow".
When I first heard her hit song Orinoco Flow I went right out and purchased Watermark, her debut album. Just ethereal, beautiful music.
Orinoco Flow was her breakthrough hit in 87/88. She's one of the topselling certified artists. You could listen to 20 of her songs and LOVE all of them.
Exile and the humming are some darker but beautifull songs of her!
Enya is amazing, I love all her songs... it's so true so many of Irish singers and even dancers like Riverdance, they have this mystical and mesmerising effect, it's beautiful 🥰🤍❤
Caribbean Blue is gorgeous from Enya. She can really soothe a soul can’t she
