    929 owner here, my dad got one in the late 90's and it made it to 265k with hardly any issues at all along the way. I ended up owning 6 or 7 of them myself as I always had an obsession with how nice the 929 feels to drive and be in. The seats are wonderful, the leather smell is super comforting since they used REAL European leather throughout all surfaces, the ride, styling, and even the way it sounds are just so special. The car has incredible amounts of character and that's what makes it so interesting and unlike anything else. I'm down to just one 929 now, funny enough I live in CA and went to San Antonio to fix it, then drive it back to the SF Bay only to find out the car was purchased from my local Mazda dealer. Pretty neat! I plan to keep this car for life. The 90's era Japanese cars were all fantastic. I also have a 6 speed Legend and 90 and 97 Accords, also fantastic cars.

    This is a collectors item lol.. I always thought this & the Mazda Millenia.. were the best styled entry luxury cars at the time… & too think Mazda had both of these cars sitting in the showroom in 94 & 95.. beautiful cars still ❤

    I still have this car since' Nov.'92. It has 509 tmls in it's Enkei wheels. Unopend engine, first tranny. All fluid change periods split in half, never late on maintenance. No problems so far. Even seats are in very good condition, much better than on fancy European cars. I love this car so much. Great car, a very good vid. Oh, yes, and that dashboard is a pure pinnacle of ergonomics and tactile orientation even for today's standards.
    Congratulations Mazda, congratulations Andrew.
    P.s. Mazda, bring us your great sedans back.

    Had a 1993 when living in HKG. Fun fact the 929 there had four wheel steering. Wheels would turn opposite in slow speeds and tandem at high speeds. Was a brilliant car.

    The Merit from GTA San Andreas. This was when Japan really competed in the world luxury car market. Awesome car!

    I'm currently building a jeze engine for an mpv. The engines have a lot of solid engineering through the block. The roller cams, crank and pistons etc. No wonder they last so long.

    Nice ride! I like the style of these older cruisers. Especially the paint and rims.

    This is beautiful and timeless. Im currently 35 and I can remember being in love with these as a kid. Upon getting a license and saving and letting my parents know I wanted one of these. I found out my Dad was so against mazda. At the time I found a granny driven one for right at about $1500. We went to look at the car and he wouldn't even drive it. He completely talked me out of the purchase. I one day hope to find one in this condition. I do own my other childhood car heartthrob which is a 2000 BMW 528IA I'll never let her go. But I'm in route for either one of these or the millenia. Loved both. I'm sure somone has purchased this one by now.

    Beautiful cars....Always loved the 929s and Millenias. Grew up with an 88 MX6 Turbo in the family, fully loaded, adjustable suspension, 5speed. Loved that thing. My first car was a 91 626, auto unfortunately, but still a fun car, and served me very well as a dumb kid.

      Two years ago, I had a 1988 MX6 GT 4WS car. Lovely car I found in Maine on CL. Needed work, but got it great, and even got the 4WS working. Sold it to move onto other things, but I miss that car.

    That is a Clean VIP Japanese Ride Mazda always made great cars & mini trucks.. and also I grew up around a lot of clean & brand new Japanese cars & trucks like Toyota & Honda & Mazda & Acura & Lexus.. but there was always something different about the Mazda's that I always noticed in the details and I'm still a fan of them currently & especially 90s and very early 2000s models also great times in those era's we grew up in the best times in Texas car culture.. its different down here for the good best car culture in my opinion 😎✌🏽

    Love these. I think 17” 5 spoke wheels with slightly wider tires would make this look so much nicer.
    This competed for motor trend import car of the year 1992. Lexus SC400 won. And that’s what I own.

    Great review! I always thought these were nice looking cars, probably let down only by the marketing strategy and perhaps lack of a V8.

      The rumored plan was to elevate this to the luxury Amati brand that never materialized due to the Japanese market recession in the early 90's. Mazda was even working on a W12 to put in this car when it became the flagship Amati model. Mazda US had an office space already leased across the 5-FWY in Irvine, CA with signs up and everything, before it went away. The Millenia ultimately replaced this car, and was more in line with the mass market sedans in terms of size like Camry, and Accord to get better potential sales volume.

    To me the 2nd generation looks like a 5/4ths scale Mazda 626 of the same era. I'd like to have one if I could find one I could afford that doesn't need major work.

      I have bought, loved, and sold a lot of cars. In another world, I might have some more space and money, but I have a list of too many other cars I would like to experience to keep everything. I do have a few choice cars I will hold on to though...

    Hi I have 1993 929. Where do you get all parts?

    • @therealandrewwilliam
      @therealandrewwilliam  3 місяці тому

      Parts like body and trim are hard. Mechanical stuff is easier as some things are shared across other models like the MPV. I also look to Japan for more used parts as they seemed to sell more than the US did.

    • @JayJay-wv1vx
      @JayJay-wv1vx 3 місяці тому

      @@therealandrewwilliam thanks for replying. I m in need of driver door inside trim , especially the door pull handle trim. Which site in Japan if u can share please? Also I m thinking to restore this completely, do you think it's a good idea or just sadly let it go?

    • @therealandrewwilliam
      @therealandrewwilliam  3 місяці тому

      @@JayJay-wv1vx I think with anything, it depends on the value to you. I will put more money into something with sentimental value or personal value, regardless of market value. Both Buyee (a Japanese auction site) and Nengun (site for new an used JDM parts) have helped. Trim is really hard to come by, but I have gotten lucky before.
